For an additional £50 the FX5 features Automatic Distance Control, allowing you to send the trolley off towards the next tee and it will stop after 15, 30 or 45 yards. And it features a larger colour screen and USB port.

How long do PowaKaddy lithium batteries last?

A standard lithium battery is for 18 holes and must be fully charged. This can take up to 7 to 10 hours after each round. An extended lithium battery is designed for 36 holes use. Remember to switch the battery on when charging.

Can a PowaKaddy Golf bag fit on any trolley?

The simple answer is yes. However whether it's a PowaKaddy waterproof bag, a PowaKaddy light bag, or a feature-packed bag, thanks to their revolutionary Key Lock base, all PowaKaddy Cart Bags fit perfectly to PowaKaddy trolleys, ensuring everything stays firmly in place, even over the roughest of terrains.

Can you push a PowaKaddy Electric Trolley?

Yes. In the event that you experience a power failure on the course you can adjust the wheel settings which makes the trolley easy to push for the remainder of your round.

Should I leave my Lithium trolley battery on charge all the time?

No. Like any electrical device, it is strongly advised not to leave Lithium batteries charging overnight or for unsupervised periods.

Do PowaKaddy Electric Trolleys have brakes?

All PowaKaddy EBS versions (Electronic Braking System) have self-sensing electronic braking systems that automatically slow the trolley on steep downhill inclines to maintain your desired walking pace.

PowaKaddy Warranty & Returns

PowaKaddy Product Warranty

The Powakaddy trolley & charger are covered by a 24 month warranty from the date of purchase. The warranty covers manufacturing defects that occur during normal use. Any breakage caused by accidental damage, or as a result of abuse or misuse, are not covered by the warranty. The warranty is not transferable and only covers purchases made in the continental United States.

The Powakaddy Lithium battery is covered by a 5 year pro-rated limited warranty. If the battery fails in the first 24 months it will be replaced free of charge. If the battery fails in the third year the customer will cover 50% of the replacement cost, if it fails in the fourth year 70% of the replacement cost and if it fails in the 5th year 85% of the replacement cost.

If your battery and charger pass our testing or if they have failed due to damage caused by use or abuse, the customer will be responsible for all shipping and handling chargers in the return of the product and there will be no warranty coverage.

All Powakaddy accessories are covered for 90 days from date of purchase.

If you require service covered by the warranty please call Big Horn Golfer at 412.567.4390. Please retain your sales receipt or packing slip for proof of purchase. We will diagnose the problem and send the replacement part to the customer by FedEx ground or US Mail. Any parts replaced under the warranty, at no charge, do not carry a new warranty.

In the event the customer is unable to replace the part themselves, please retail all the original packaging material to return your trolley for repair. All trolleys must be returned in the original packaging. If you do not have the original packaging material Big Horn Golfer can provide a new box at customers the expense.

In the event a replacement part is needed but not covered by the warranty the customer will be responsible for all costs.

PowaKaddy Returns

Big Horn Golfer has a 30 day return policy from date of purchase. 

Items returned must be unused and in the original packaging. The owner must cover all shipping costs.  Once the item is returned and inspected by Big Horn Golfer to determine if the above criteria has been met, the customer will be refunded their purchase price less shipping and handling to the customer and all credit card fees.

If Big Horn Golfer determines that the product has been used there will be a 25% restocking fee. The customer is responsible for any damage occurred in the return shipping.

After 30 days from date of purchase, no returns will be allowed.

New PowaKaddy Cart Bags Unveiled For 2017

A host of new colours and designs have been added to PowaKaddy’s popular cart bag range for 2017, with all models available from March.

Taking inspiration from new fashion trends from across the world, the new colours include Lime Green, Teal and Fuchsia match up nicely with the PowaKaddy Freeway range of electric trolleys . After a successful introduction to the market last year, the waterproof Dri Edition adds a third model to its stable, whilst the Premium, Deluxe and Lite bags all continue in the new range for 2017.

“The response we’ve had on our bags over the past year has been terrific and, after much research and development, we’re looking forward to introducing our most visually-striking bag range to date,” said Marketing Manager Mei Tierney. “With four models in the new PowaKaddy range, and a wide range of colour options and styles, there’s a bag for every type of golfer.”

Constructed from a 2000mm-coated waterproof fabric and weighing just 2.3kg, the new Dri Edition (above, RRP £219.99) comes in three colour options and incorporates covered zip holders and heat-welded seams to keep equipment and belongings dry during heavy rainfall.

Reckless 80L

The Reckless 80L is designed for off-road riding/camping, Backcountry Discovery Route exploration, and international fly-to-ride trips.

Reckless 80L (V4.0)

The R80 is our larger capacity rackless luggage system designed for off-road riding/camping, Backcountry Discovery Route exploration, and international fly-to-ride trips. The Reckless 80L is 100% waterproof, expands and contracts for various load volumes and riding conditions, and features adjustable leg angles to fit enduros up to larger ADV bikes.

The updated Reckless 80L V4.0 offers a stiffer, more durable, and lighter-weight design featuring CURV® composite harness material. The stiffness of the CURV® material significantly reduces movement of the bag, adding more stability for technical off-road riding. CURV® has a unique high-impact strength that will not fatigue or crack, even when riding on very hot days or in freezing temperatures.

Additional updates include multi-directional Molle on the beavertail and leg holsters, two settings for leg strap mounting, low-profile non-slip cam buckles, a helmet clip, and optimized integration for the optional  Gnoblin  rear mounting accessory. The R80 is also now built with 100% recycled 1680D Ballistic nylon with eco-friendly PVC backing and UV treatment.

With the Reckless 80L we replicated the traditional three-bag organization and packing system of a touring bike (two side panniers and a rear duffle) for bikes that don’t have pannier racks. The Reckless system saves you the added weight and expense of metal side pannier racks.

It’s 100% waterproof and easy to get into, so you don’t have to unstrap everything to get at your lunch or pull out a jacket. The side bags slide and strap into the leg holster which stays attached to the bike. All three main compartments are welded-seam roll-top drybags for total waterproofness. The center top bag is our Stinger 22L Tailbag , which has stashable backpack straps and works great as an airline carry-on or a day pack for short hikes. The side bags are interchangeable and include a clear panel on the front so you can easily find your gear.

In addition to the three main compartments, the optional 4L drybag auxiliary pocket (aka Aux Pox) are perfect for storing smaller items that you might need quick access to throughout the day. The Aux Pox holsters can be used with or without their roll-top drybags, making them a great place for extra fuel bottles , water , tool roll , or spare tubes.

The rear beavertail creates a convenient spot to tuck a motorcycle jacket  or to store wet things – like a tent rainfly, towel, or campsite garbage – that you don't want inside your dry bag. The inside panels of the beavertail include a tent pole bag , a removable map pocket, and two reinforced clear pockets for small items like toothbrush/toothpaste. The entire beavertail assembly is removable, giving you the option to ditch the Stinger 22L, therby reducing weight and total capacity.

Adding additional storage is easy if you need more than 80L of space. The beavertail straps extend to accommodate a second or larger top bag. The outside of the beavertail includes a 3-column MOLLE webbing panel, and each leg includes a 2-column panel on the front, with a 3-column panel on the rear. Add Mosko MOLLE   P ouches , or choose from a wide array of 3rd party MOLLE accessories.

The R80 harness is a 3-piece system, which can be disassembled for an international fly-to-ride trip. The entire system fits conveniently in a roller luggage system, like our Mule Gear Hauler .

If you have a crash on a long trip, the various components can be repaired or replaced individually, saving cost and hassle. A foam pad reduces chafe between the harness and the bike, and the harness is armored with Hypalon for abrasion resistance. All R80 drybags are made from 840D TPU (PVC free), to stand up to UV and cold weather.

• Exhaust heat damage is not covered under warranty. Please use the included heat shield, and follow the installation instructions carefully.
• KTM 690, Husqvarna 701, and GasGas 700 customers:   The stock exhaust on these bikes runs VERY hot. Even with careful heat shield use, melting of the bike's plastics and the luggage can occur on these bikes specifically. Consider the Arrow brand aftermarket exhausts, available from Rottweiler Performance .
• Africa Twin customers, please note that the passenger grab handles found on the 2016-19 Africa Twin models may inhibit the fit of the Reckless 80L on the tail of the bike.
• On dual-exhaust bikes or bikes with especially high/exposed pipes, you will need a second heat shield, available for purchase in our website's Hardware & Parts section .
• Contact between soft luggage (no matter how soft) and your bike's plastics or painted surfaces will cause cosmetic wear to the bike over time because accumulated dirt is abrasive. If that is important, try applying a clear protective film (like  Allstar Performance Tape or  3M Polymask Protective Tape ) to your bike.
• Different bikes and installation approaches present different wear points to the Reckless 80 harness. After installation, go for a short test ride, then check for wear points. Adjust the harness position, file down sharp rack edges, or apply a sacrificial wear patch as needed. Continue to check for high-wear points over time, but remember that the harness is made to take a lot of abuse. Some visible wear is normal, and in no way does it affect the strength or waterproofness of the luggage.

The Reckless 80L is designed to fit a wide variety of motorcycles – from small enduro-style bikes up to larger adventure bikes.

It's perfect for 1300gs. I'm looking forward to the camping trip.

Another well-thought-out design by the folks at Mosko Moto. The 80L Reckless is something I’ve been looking forward to using for some time. Attention to detail and quality of material makes it a no-brainer for me to use in upcoming travel. I found it very easy to attach the Aux Pox and loved the small velcro tabs to hold in the bolts inside the bag. Also being able to move it from bike to bike easily is a great advantage. Stoked to start using it.

My comments here are limited to the Reckless 80 product, and really only initial impressions and assembly challenges. I have not had the Reckless 80 out in the backcountry yet, so performance on-trail is not addressed here.

Further, Mosko Moto as a company is impressive. Everything associated with consumer relations, marketing products, communication, responsiveness, etc., has been first rate. The comments below related ONLY to my impressions of the Reckless 80.

The main point here: assembly of this load system was frustrating. Very. Several sweat-soaked sessions bending over the material in my garage. The engineering challenge with a non-frame pannier system is obvious: you have to design the stability into the load bearing equipment itself. However, it seems that the Reckless 80 design makes it more difficult than it needs to be.

Couple specific observations:

- Assembly requires attaching two “sidebags” made of a composite, fiberglass-like material, to the main base. Problem is, the holes are a bitch to line up, and the hardware provided isn’t long enough to engage with the nut and take a threaded bite. On one connection, a nylon strap physically prevents mating of screw and nut. I ended up changing out the provided hardware in order to end the pain of making it work.

- This design error could easily be fixed with a little attention and better hardware. I write this hoping that MM does exactly that with future iterations of this product.

On the very positive side, it’s clear that the material, dry bag design, fast-ex and other attachment clips, are well thought-out and of high quality.

I hope to provide further feedback after a road test on the Idaho BDR next week.

Purchased for Honda SCL 500 scrambler. The orange on the bags match the Honda Orange tank perfectly. Purely by accident! Quality gear and the perfect solution for this bike.

Have had the new R80L ( V4.0 )system on my DR650 for about 2 weeks now, and very happy and impressed. Have taken it on some bumpy, rocky mine roads/trails, and hit some extended stretches of washboard( here in Alaska ) at a brisk pace to try and shake something loose. Have not had a single strap move. Gear stays bone dry in the rain. Quality, fit, and finish are outstanding. And the thoughtful features, show it’s been designed by fellow riders. Even with 30+ pounds of gear, it doesn’t even feel like the bike is loaded with bags.

A Pastry That Tastes Like Home

The cheese scone is so essential to the New Zealand diet that it is almost impossible to find a cafe without a plate of them on the counter.

During a recent visit to Wellington, the capital of New Zealand and my childhood home, there were three things on my mind: Family, friends and cheese scones. Reconnecting with the first two was the trip’s purpose. The third is what got me really excited.

In my final years in the city, until a friend intervened out of concerns for my health, I ate the cheese-covered savories most mornings. I’m not the only one. Less sweet than the traditional British scone and more flavorful than the American biscuit, the cheese scone is so essential to the New Zealand diet that it is almost impossible to find a cafe here without a plate of them on the counter.

Asking New Zealanders about them often leads to rapture. Eugene O’Connor, 29, a consultant in Wellington, said he has a “crazy love affair” with the “delicious bite of buttery goodness.” Their absence was among the first differences Aimee Cox, 25, noticed when she moved to the United Kingdom to study at a university. “I’ll be dreaming of cheese scones until I set foot on home soil,” she said.

But not all cheese scones are made equal, as I found out upon moving to Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city. The scones there were too dry for my taste, or lacked the burst of flavor that comes from the Wellington version’s use of unhealthy quantities of cheese. So, after returning home, I knocked on the kitchen door at Floriditas early one morning to satisfy my passion for the food.

One of the city’s oldest cafes, Floriditas is famous for its Cheddar and arugula scones, which its baker Holly Sinclair, 40, starts making every day at 6 a.m. After spending much of her career in the United States and Canada, returning home was a shock. “It is a bit of a time warp when you come back here from overseas. I mean that in the best possible way,” she laughingly said of New Zealand’s slower pace and less commercialized culture, as she poured flour, cayenne and butter into an industrial mixing machine. In New Zealand, most cafes are independent operations, not big chains, and appetites tend toward that which we already know.

“New Zealanders are creatures of habit. It’s got a lot to do with our isolation,” Ms. Sinclair said. I noted that I often think that the stereotype, inspired by “The Lord of the Rings,” of New Zealanders as hobbits isn’t far from the truth. Laughing, she agreed, saying she believed that’s partly why New Zealanders are so obsessed with cheese scones. “We like the familiar. We’re smaller and more quaint than the Americans.”

First brought to New Zealand by British settlers, the cheese scone remained a favorite even as its popularity waned in the United Kingdom. “They bring a lot of comfort,” Ms. Sinclair said. “It’s something you grow up with in tearooms and on kitchen tables.”

Ms. Sinclair grew up in a remote valley at the top of New Zealand’s South Island. Her family cooked almost everything they ate from scratch. “I’m self-taught, I didn’t go to some fancy culinary school,” she said. “And in my house, when there was nothing else in the cupboard, you could always bang out some cheese scones if someone showed up at the front door.”

Ms. Sinclair placed the mix on a counter, shaped it into fist-size white and green clumps, painted each with milk, then sprinkled a liberal dosing of cheese on top. Hers is a high-pressure job. “There are people who come in just for the scones,” she said as she placed the clumps in an oven.

Usually, people don’t complain if she doesn’t get it right. “New Zealanders really struggle with being assertive and direct. We overthink it so much that we end up being weird about it.” But the intense competition between the city’s cafes means she’s always worried about customers being lured away.

Soon, the oven turned the scones a deep shade of gold. Tray in hand, Ms. Sinclair stepped out of the kitchen and into a street illuminated by dawn’s first light, then bustled through a door into Floriditas. The scones steamed as she set them on the cafe’s counter, to the delight of Georgia Duffy, 29, the cafe’s manager.

I had already eaten, but my stomach was rumbling again. I sat amid the cafe’s warm light and dark wood, which reminded me in some ways of a cozy hobbit hole, for a second breakfast of well-earned comforts: A flat white and the biggest scone from the tray.

Other customers began to arrive. They knew that if they didn’t come early, Ms. Duffy said, they risked missing that day’s scones. “And when we sell out, people are heartbroken.”
