Courteeners announce first US gigs in 13 years

The band are set to play Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Los Angeles in November

Courteeners have announced a string of US tour dates for this November, marking the first time the band have played the US since Coachella in 2009.

The US tour kicks off at Boston’s Brighton Music Hall on November 10, with the band heading to New York, Philadelphia and Los Angeles ahead of their recently announced Corona Capital Festival appearance in Mexico City on November 18.

Tickets for the tour go on sale at 10am local time in each city on June 17. Find tickets for the shows here and for the LA date, head here .

Courteeners’ latest studio album,  ‘More. Again. Forever.’ , came out in January 2020. In a four-star review,  NME  hailed it as the group’s “most focussed and adventurous work to date”.

“[Their sixth album] strikes a mature balance,” the review reads. “It’s escapist in its sound but humane in its approach to the world. It’s experimental but familiar, and tests what the band are capable of.”

Last year, Courteeners  shared their huge Heaton Park homecoming gig in its entirety online . The band premiered the concert in full on their official  YouTube channel on November 25, which saw them playing in front of 50,000 fans at the outdoor Manchester show on June 15, 2019.

Last month, the band announced a one-off show in Middlesbrough , which took place at Middlesbrough Empire on May 27. As the band’s first gig of 2022, it was billed as a warm-up gig ahead of their headline set at Neighbourhood Weekender 2022  the following day (May 28).

Courteeners are due to headline Y Not Festival on July 30 in Pikehall, Derbyshire, joining acts like Stereophonics and Blossoms .

In other news, frontman Liam Fray announced last year that he would be opening a new restaurant in Manchester’s Northern Quarter .

The Smithfield Social, which pays homage to the historic Smithfield Market, is located on Thomas St and serves brunch, small plates, cocktails and more.

About the courteeners.

Courteeners are an English indie rock band formed in Middleton in 2006 by Liam Fray (lead guitar/vocals), Michael Campbell (drums/backing vocals), Daniel "Conan" Moores (rhythm guitar) and Mark Cuppello (bass); the latter was replaced by the band's producer Joe Cross in 2015. They also tour with pianist Adam Payne, who has been featured on every album. In December 2012, the band dropped "The" from their name, continuing simply as "Courteeners". They have released five studio albums: St. Jude (2008), Falcon (2010), Anna (2013), Concrete Love (2014) and Mapping the Rendezvous (2016); as well as several EPs and two DVD albums. All the music and lyrics for the Courteeners' songs are written by the band's frontman Liam Fray. He claims that all of the songs he has written are about personal experiences.

The single 'Acrylic' quickly became a hit and made The Courteeners one of the fastest growing artists at that time. Huge indie band drop massive hint they’ve landed support act slot on Oasis’s 2025 reunion tour with clue at gig

A HUGE British indie band has dropped a major clue they could be supporting Oasis on their massive stadium reunion tour next year.

Manchester favourites The Courteeners are firmly in the frame to support the Gallagher brothers in the summer .

Not only are they heavily inspired by the Britpop legends, but frontman Liam Fray is also pals with his Oasis namesake.

Liam G handpicked Liam F to play chief support at his Malta Weekender festival which will take place next month.

Meanwhile, at the weekend The Courteeners walked onto the stage at Victorious Festival in Portsmouth , to Oasis anthem Morning Glory - something they haven't done at previous gigs.

It coincided with our exclusive story that Oasis would be reuniting, which the band later confirmed on Tuesday morning.

A source said: "When the band walked out to Morning Glory over the weekend it was great for hyping up the crowd.

"But then when the Oasis reunion was announced on Tuesday everything suddenly made sense.

"Courteeners couldn't be a better pick for a support act if it really was a cheeky hint - especially if they play with them at Heaton Park.

"Maybe the two Liams could do a song together? That would be mega."

Bookies certainly seem to think the band, who are best known for single Not Nineteen Forever, will play a part in the tour and have them at 2/1 to support.

Also in the running are fellow rockers Blossoms and Manic Street Preachers, who announced a new album this week. Geordie troubadour Sam Fender also seems to be a popular choice with fans.

Initially Oasis announced 14 stadium dates - two in Cardiff, four in Manchester, four in London, two in Dublin and two in Edinburgh.

And today three additional dates were added to the tour due to the huge demand.

The band wrote: "Due to unprecedented demand, three new UK dates will be added to Oasis Live ‘25.

"Heaton Park - July 16th, Wembley - July 30th, Edinburgh - August 12th.

"Tickets on go on sale this Saturday, 31st August at 9am BST."

New photographs of the brothers were released this week - their first together in 15 years - with insiders telling The Sun the top-secret snaps were taken three weeks ago in London.

A second source said: “Once the deal was signed seven weeks ago, Noel and Liam confirmed they would meet in person for a shoot.

“The shoot happened around three weeks ago and the few people in the room signed non-disclosure agreements to stop it leaking.

“Noel and Liam haven’t had an easy relationship but they were very comfortable with each other.

“They were messing around and having a laugh. You could feel the magic and chemistry. Being with them in that studio felt like being transported back to the 1990s.”

The band’s founder  Alan McGee told Virgin Radio that the brothers’ mum  Peggy, 81,  was a major reason for the reunion.

He said: “I’m sure she is behind the whole thing.

“Peggy is great, she is rocking on.”

He added of the brothers: “They’re really professional. I don’t think it (falling out) will be an issue.”

Insiders also said Liam and Noel’s children were key in the shows coming together.

Noel’s daughter Anais, 24, was with Liam before he went on stage on Sunday.

She is also close to Liam’s sons Lennon, 24, and Gene, 23, who said earlier this month they had discussed their parents reforming Oasis.

Gene said of Anais: “We have jokes about it. She knows what her dad is like and I know what my dad is like. Hey, we’re a big happy family everyone.”

Following the release of a new single Solitude Of The Night Bus, and news of their forthcoming seventh album Pink Cactus Café, Courteeners have announced details of an autumn arena tour of the UK. The band will be performing here at Co-op Live as part of this tour for a special hometown show.

Liam Fray says Liam Gallagher was "better than ever" at Definitely Maybe Co-op Live shows

The Courteeners frontman has gushed about the former Oasis singer's homecoming dates at Manchester's Co-op Live this summer.

Liam Fray has praised Liam Gallagher's Definitely Maybe tour dates and said the former Oasis frontman was as good as ever.

The Courteeners frontman spoke visited T he Evening Show on Radio X this month and discussed everything from his band's upcoming Pink Cactus Cafe album to his introduction to the Britpop band.

"I went to see Liam at the Co-Op [Live in Manchester]," he told Dan O'Connell. "Just as good as ever. Better than ever, actually. Better than ever I would say. That's the best I've ever seen him."

Asked if Gallagher has been someone he's gone to for advice over the years, Fray replied: "Yeah, we've seen each other."

"We've had a few days," he laughed. "I've had a couple of days. We were at a wedding once that was very, very special... and yeah, it was good. I think I had some advice from him at some point, but it was a good weekend!"

Fray also recalled his memories of the debut Oasis album and revealed he actually came to know the band first through their sophomore album (What's The Story) Morning Glory?

"I was 10, 11 for Morning Glory, but you couldn't escape [it]. I remember Wonderwall on the radio and I remember this very, very clearly. I'd just been able to sit in the front of the car with my dad [...], but I remember thinking that I'd never really heard that thing or it never done that to me"

"But I remember my sister going, 'You do know there's an album before that?' And then I was like, wow. Obviously at 11, 12, you've probably only got about four CDs on, so that's all there was on rotation.

"But I said early on to a friend I would have loved to have been just five or six years older [...] when you first heard Supersonic".

The Cavorting singer went on: "What that would have been like to have been going out to clubs and going to gigs and then hearing Supersonic. Where does that sit? Because it must have gone 'BOOF'. The video, how they looked..."

He added: "I remember getting the 10 year anniversary of it and you got a DVD with it and I remember thinking - what was that 2004 - and I'd just started to do gigs [...] and I was thinking this album is 10 times bigger now than when it came out.

"How must must that feel? So for it to be 30 years, I mean... look. Every single song stands the test of time".

Liam's dates at the Co-op live clearly made a big impact on the Oasis legend himself as he has chosen to commemorate his four dates at the venue by giving up the huge globe that featured on stage during his tour as a "semi-permanent fixture" at the arena.

The new Manchester venue has in turn donated £25,000 to Liam Gallagher's chosen charity Happy Doggo, which plans to "make life better for stray dogs around the world."

As explained in a press release: "The donation aligns with the venue’s wider commitment to supporting charities and causes that performers are linked to. Further signifying Co-op Live’s commitment to charity, the venue will also encourage fans to add donations through in-venue QR codes, digital and physical activations."

After the huge string of 30th anniversary gig this summer, Liam Gallagher prepares for a duo of headline dates at Reading and Leeds Festival this weekend.

The festival, which takes place from 21st - 25th August 2024 at Richfield Avenue and Bramham Park respectively will also host to Blink 182 , Gerry Cinnamon , Lana Del Rey, Catfish and the Bottlemen and Fred Again.. as headliners, with many more exciting acts joining them on the bill!

Victorious 2024: lineup, tickets and timings for Portsmouth festival

The south coast will be headlined by the likes of Fatboy Slim, Snow Patrol and Courteeners this weekend – here’s everything you need to know

You might associate festivals with sleepless nights, sweaty clothes and nightmarish toilets – but they don’t have to be that way. Enter: Victorious, a music and comedy festival perfect for anyone who fancies festival entertainment without the faff.

After its most successful year ever in 2023, Portsmouth’s Victorious festival is expected to attract nearly 80,000 people to each of its three days in 2024. The fest has something for everyone, with performers across a variety of disciplines, from spoken word poets to DJs. There’s even a kids’ stage so that the little ones don’t get left out.

This weekend, Fatboy Slim, Jamie T, Biffy Clyro and more will head to the south coast city, alongside Russell Howard, Frankie Boyle and Al Murray for the giggles.

If you’ll be joining them, you might have some questions about the lineup, or the weather forecast, or if there are any tickets remaining. Luckily for you, we’ve got the answers to all of that and more – here’s everything you need to know about Victorious festival 2024.

Victorious 2024 dates and location

The Hampshire music festival is back this year from August 23-25. It will return to its home at the Portsmouth docks in Southsea, on the Common and Castle Field. The location is ideal, being only a five minute drive from the centre of the city, so no need to worry about getting back to your hotel room if you didn’t fancy camping.

You can get to the site by walking, or by using public transport. 

There’s a shuttle bus direct from the campsite, which is not on the same grounds as the performances, or you can walk 25 minutes from Portsmouth & Southsea train station. Big Green Coach is also running shuttles from Basingstoke, Bognor Regis, Bournemouth, Brighton, Chichester, Eastleigh, Emsworth, Fareham, Guildford, Havant, London Victoria, Petersfield, Poole, Reading, Southampton, Waterlooville, Winchester and Worthing.

2024’s lineup and headliners

There are some big names gracing Victorious’ many stages this year. The musical headliners are Fatboy Slim, Jamie T, and Biffy Clyro, while Russell Howard, Frankie Boyle, and Al Murray top the comedy bill.

Other bands and artists playing include the likes of Courteeners, Jess Glynne, Wet Leg, Becky Hill, James Bay, Idles and loads more. There are also specific stages for children’s entertainment, world music, and local artists if you’re looking for something new.

Tickets and prices

If that all looks too good to miss, don’t worry. You don’t need to miss out – there are a select few tickets still available here .

Single day tickets are £83 for adults, and weekend passes start at £225. Kids entry is much cheaper at £8 and £24 for the day and weekend respectively. There are also camping tickets still available if you don’t have time to sort out a Travelodge.

Weather forecast

We’re sorry to say the weather is set to fluctuate quite a bit this weekend. There will likely be a mix of rain, shine, clouds and wind, so you’re basically getting a bit of everything. It’s actually very apt when you consider the festival you’re going to, so actually it’s good!

Keep an eye on the forecast here; fingers crossed the rain decides not to show up in the end and you get a surprise weekend of 25C sunshine.

Road closures

Being in an urban area, Victorious causes a little bit of drama. To make space for it some stuff needs to be rejigged, so a few nearby roads will be closed for the whole weekend. If you’re a local wondering how this will impact you, don’t worry. The roads set to be shut the entire weekend are:

Oasis have finally announced their highly anticipated UK and Ireland tour , their first gigs in 16 years and tickets are going to be like gold dust.

Noel and Liam Gallagher , who have put their long-running feud aside, will kick off their Oasis Live 25 world tour with dates in Manchester and London as well as Cardiff, Edinburgh, and Dublin next summer.

However, getting tickets — with unknown prices — could prove an impossible task with fans worried it will be harder than Taylor Swift ’s Eras Tour .

Tickets will go on sale on August 31 at 9am and if you thought Swift’s ticket buying was frantic, this is going to be full-blown madness as fans scramble to secure their place at the reunion tour.

Eagle-eyed fans are also hedging their bets on whether the brothers will perform as Glastonbury headliners next year — but it’s looking a little unlikely despite huge interest.

For now, cutting jabs and insults hurled across social media have been laid to rest ahead of the 30th anniversary of the brothers’ debut album Definitely, Maybe.

Liam and Noel certainly aren’t looking back in anger with a whopping £400,000,000 in earning potential reported from the reunion.

Oasis fans point out strange political timing behind Gallagher brothers reunion

Now the initial shockwaves of Liam and Noel’s reconciliation have started to settle, fans are picking up on the coincidental timing of the long-awaited comeback.

Oasis broke up in August 2009 and hardly a year later, in May 2010, David Cameron brought in the first Conservative government since 1997 (around the height of Oasis’s popularity).

The past several years have seen immense political turbulence from Brexit to five different Conservative Prime Minsters but through it all there has been no sign of the feud cooling down.

Until now – when a Labour government (led by Sir Keir Starmer) finally took over the reins once more after winning a landslide victory in the July election.

Coincidence? Some fans think not.

From growing up in Manchester to becoming chart-topping sensations to the notorious feud which saw them break up for 15 years – the Gallagher brothers have lived a truly wild life.

For those wanting to lift the curtain behind this dynamic, complicated duo, the 2016 documentary, Oasis: Supersonic, which scored 84% on Rotten Tomatoes delves into it all.

Who is Noel and Liam Gallagher’s brother Paul?

Did you know that there’s a third Gallagher brother? Well, there is.

Paul Gallagher is actually the oldest of the three brothers and got his own bedroom in their Manchester home while Liam and Noel were forced to share.

He has steered clear of the spotlight while his brothers have stormed the charts but didn’t let their spat impact his relationship with them.

‘I speak to the pair of them. I see Liam every other day.’ Paul said last year on the Michael Anthony Show podcast. ‘I do my own thing, I stay away from it as much as humanely possible.

‘Yeah annoying. How many years has it been now, 30? How many times can you say [inaudible noise], it’s excruciating.’

Fans do sometimes recognise him, as he added: ‘When you are out in the pub, the first thing is a “hello” they acknowledge me and the second things is – it’s like “when are you going to ask them”. You know what I mean. Why are you asking me for?’

Paul continued: ‘I get it. There’s no stars in this country. There happens to be two in my family. I get it, but it doesn’t mean I want to talk about to the d***head at the bus stop.

‘I don’t care I just like to float around invisible. No because they don’t care. I don’t care what they do and they don’t care what I do, unless I overstep the mark and then they are always on our case.’

He admitted sometimes he can come across as ‘rude’ due to his disinterest in his brothers’ fame.

Bookies share odds on Oasis headlining Glastonbury 2025 – and it doesn’t look good

Anyone who has been analysing Oasis ’ tour dates in hopes of bagging the best seats may have spotted a little gap in their schedule.

It happens to be the same weekend (June 25 to 29) that Glastonbury is set to kick off at Worthy Farm.

Fans have instantly connected the dots and declared that Oasis could be headlining the historic festival.

Now, Oasis appeared to address this by editing their announcement to clarify that the dates announced were ‘the band’s exclusive European appearances.’

However, excitable fans haven’t let their Glasto dreams be shattered and William Hill have revealed the odds of that actually happening.

S pokesperson for  William Hill , Lee Phelps, said :  ‘Oasis superfans and music lovers alike have been sent into a frenzy this morning as the English rock band announced their tour dates for a long-awaited reunion, and the July start date has people wondering whether an appearance at Glastonbury 2025 as a headline act could materialise.

Lee added: ‘The opening song is always a topic of debate and we make Rock ‘n’ Roll Star the even-money favourite to be the curtain raiser to their first tour date in Cardiff, ahead of Some Might Say (5/2), Cigarettes & Alcohol (7/2), and Supersonic (6/1).

‘Should they go global in 2025, the Super Bowl Halftime Show could be another they’ll look to check off the list and we make them a 3/1 chance to take to the Caesars Superdome next February.’

Sir Keir Starmer addresses Oasis reunion after big Downing Street speech

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer gave Oasis a shoutout during a major speech at Downing Street ahead of Parliament’s return next week.

After discussing the UK’s political situation and his vision of the future, one reporter made sure he addressed the biggest news of the day – Oasis’ shock reunion, 15 years after they broke up .

The Gallagher brothers have stayed fairly silent on social media after dropping the huge news that Oasis is returning for a tour next year .

Oasis Edingburgh gig clashes with Fringe festival

Sorry to anyone living in Edinburgh next summer but the Oasis Live ’25 gig clashes with the start of the Fringe festival .

The Scottish city is notoriously busy during the comedy festival, which has been going since 1947 with under a quarter of a million people attending in 2023.

However, Murrayfield Stadium’s huge 67,000 capacity will be thrown into the mix as fans flock to the city for Oasis.

The two gigs on August 8 and 9 will take place the Friday and Saturday after the comedy festival opens.

Oasis ticket realities sink in

The excitement for Oasis is by no means calming down but the reality of having to fight for tickets has dawned on fans.

Many are predicting this crush for tickets could be worse than Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour which was notoriously hard to land a seat at.

Every fan who is hoping to attend one of Oasis’ reunion concerts will need to rush onto one of three sites at the buzzer and pray they get tickets.

Ticketmaster is once again at the scene of the crime but fans can also try SeeTickets or GigsAndTours for official tickets.

There will be plenty of ways to increase your chances, such as not refreshing pages and being on time for the sale, but honestly, this will very much be down to luck.

Who is Oasis founding member Tony McCarroll?

While the Gallagher brothers might be the most famous Oasis members, they are not the only people making up this iconic band.

In the early days, back when they were still known as The Rain, Oasis had a drummer called Tony McCarroll.

Before Liam Gallagher joined, bringing along his brother, the band consisted of Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs on guitar, Paul ‘Guigsy’ McGuigan on bass and Chris Hutton on vocals and keyboard.

However, Tony’s stint was short-lived after he clashed with Noel, 57, over his drumming ability.

The now 53-year-old contributed to Definitely Maybe in 1994 as well as some singles like Whatever, Supersonic, and Shakermaker.

Shortly after the release of their debut album, Tony left the band after a heated argument with Noel.

He was then replaced by Alan White on drums and Oasis as we know it best was formed.

In 1999, he tried to sue Oasis for £18million claiming he was owed part of the band’s five-album deal.

However, it was settled out of court for £550,000 and Tony agreed to give up any royalties.

Ever since, the drummer has stepped away from the spotlight, living a quiet life in London and we doubt he’ll be making a reunion return but never say never.

This isn’t going to be for the fainthearted, we imagine tickets for this will be worse than the Eras Tour as so far there’s no mention of pre-sales or waitlists.

Ticketmaster, Seetickets, and Gigsandtours are all listed as official sellers of the Oasis Live ’25 tickets.

UK gigs will go on sale on August 31 at 9am with the Dublin dates on sale at 8am via Ticketmaster Ireland.

As for how much the Oasis tickets will cost, currently, we don’t know.

Stadium and arena tours have been notoriously high-priced recently and fans are less than happy with sellers.

Many artists have been criticised for charging  hundreds of pounds for ‘nosebleed’ seats .

Most shockingly, Blink-182 fans were offered a meet and greet with Travis Barker for £2,000 — concert ticket not included.

According to the  Manchester Evening News , Oasis tickets will be priced at over the £100 mark although an exact figure is still unknown.

It’s likely fans will only find out how much they’re about to spend when they fight through the great ticket war and arrive at the payment section.

Stop crying your hearts out though, it’s all in the name of rock ‘n’ roll.

Oasis website crashes after announcing tour and ticket release date

After nearly two decades apart, Noel and Liam Gallagher will reunite on stage together for a 14-date tour around the UK and Ireland .

Fans rushed to the website for more information in such droves they actually crashed the entire site.

Oasis Net, the official home of all things Oasis, simply refuses to load due to the sheer number of Britpop fanatics attempting to learn more about the reunion.

Thankfully — just like the band themselves — the website has since recovered from the overwhelming response to the news of a 2025 tour.

Tickets are not on sale yet and will be able to purchase through Ticketmaster on August 31.

Oasis announces first UK and Ireland tour in 16 years

Well, it’s official — Oasis is back!

Liam and Noel Gallagher are heading out on tour in the summer of 2025 with dates in Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh and Dublin.

Tickets will go on sale Saturday, August 31.

Oasis commented: ‘The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised.’

What are the Oasis reunion tour rumours?

Most fans are speculating we could be about to see an Oasis stadium tour in July 2025, rather than new music from the brothers.

There are reported concert dates at Manchester’s Heaton Park and London’s Wembley Stadium — possibly a 10-night run.

Reports of gigs in Cardiff and Edinburgh have also been floating around, although the focus is mainly on Noel and Liam Gallagher’s hometown.

Glastonbury Festival  has also been mentioned amid swirling rumours over what exactly the reunion will entail.

Given this is the last Glastonbury before a year off, Emily Eavis and the organisers are likely to want to go out in style and who better than these Britpop legends?

However, a spokesperson for Oasis did tell Metro.co.uk that they ‘categorically deny’ the festival rumour.
