Authentic Tuscany e-Bike Tour

This e-bike tour is an ideal day trip from Florence for those who would like to see a little bit of everything Tuscan .

On this tour you will see the beautiful Tuscan hills, some old churches, farmhouses and villa-farms that once reigned vast areas of Tuscany and turned the landscape in what we still see today. We will mostly take smaller roads with very little traffic and no tourism. We will pass olive groves, vineyards, some woodland. You will be immersed in the famous Tuscan countryside and see it the way some Renaissance painters immortalized it.

This tour can included a stop for a wine and olive oli tasting at an ancient winery and a stop for a light lunch in a simple but authentic local deli, or a fantastic experience for a lunch and olive oil and wine tasting at an authentic family farm, to taste their products " Farm to table" exclusively for us.

This tour is meant to give visitors to Florence a break, one day outside Florence in the open air with the stories about Tuscan's past that will nurture your mind. The e-bike tour starts at 10.15 in Montespertoli and finishes around 15.00 hrs. There are direct buses from Florence at 09.15 hrs arriving in Montespertoli at 9.55 hrs. The bus back leaves at 16.00 hrs (arriving in Florence central station around 16.50 hrs).

Our prices are listed on the price page.

The best extra virgin olive oil is made with fresh Tuscan olives immediately squeezed after the harvest at an oil mill. The most common olives for Tuscan olive oil are frantoio, leccino, frantoio and madremignola.

Terricciola red wine

Tuscan red wine

The Tuscan soil provides a wide variety of red wines, from easy-to-drink young table wines to full-body and robust riservas. Tuscan red wines are often based on Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Ciliegiolo or Colorino grapes and sometimes on international grapes like Merlot, Cabernet or Syrah.

Crostini tricolore

Mixed Tuscan appetizers

A plate of local prosciutto, salami and pecorino cheese is a typical appetizer in the Tuscan cooking tradition.

Luca

Ciao Amici!! My name is Luca. I'm in my 40s and I'm for sure the craziest guide at Arianna & Friends As all my other colleagues, I am a multi task personality in the company. I take care of bookings, I am one the content managers of our websites and I'm a tour leader. When in season, I lead almost all types of tours and cooking classes at Arianna & Friends'. My favourite ones are the truffle, olive oil and vespa tours. Riding a vespa through our wonderful hills is a must to do while in Tuscany... of course only if you know how to ride a scooter! When I started working for Arianna & Friends, back in 2011, I was only able to prepare a very simple "pasta al pomodoro" (pasta with tomato sauce). Now, after more than 10 years of cooking classes and thanks to our wonderful cooks, I am a very good chef (but please, don't tell it to my wife!). My motto is "smile you are in Tuscany". I'm happy and very proud when I see people enjoying my country and having fun in Tuscany. Join us! Join me! Let's have fun togheter!!

Massimo

Ciao a tutti! It’s Massimo here. I’m the “first one” of the friends of Arianna in order of appearance, as we first met me when we were… ehm … at the high school! Well, the first “activities” we arranged together were those many teenagers do, like going to rock concerts (long live Metallica!), barbecuing, drinking inexpensive wine, mainly with no understanding of it. In over 25 years we became more serious adults; so serious that we finished university together and we then decided to start a business from scratch, back in 2007, in an area where nothing like this existed before. I am a natural born teacher, as I’ve always liked sharing knowledge on the beauties of the world with other people. When I started sharing the wisdom of the local cuisine with visitors to Tuscany or showing them the rooted traditions behind a wheel of local pecorino cheese, I realized how fantastic my job is. In fact I discovered that being a wine & food guide is a sophisticated way of being a good teacher, so I can’t help but love it! In the A&F team I’m the multi-language guide or assistant in all activities we offer, from cooking classes, to wine & food tours, from Italian language classes to vespa tours. In the low season I deal with the website development and content management. As I am very curious, I spend all my free time travelling all over the world and of course going on learning as much as I can: over the last few years I took part in several seminaries on extra virgin olive oil, I started a three-year course to become a sommelier, I experienced a professional training to become gelato maker and I decided to never give up in learning the Arabic language. Stay connected as we will soon come up with some new great ideas for your entertainment and enjoyment of our beautiful region! Ci vediamo in Toscana!

What Guests are Saying

two people posing with matching bike jerseys in their bike helmets

This trip was better than anticipated and I had high expectations based on previous participants' reviews! I am now convinced that this is THE way to see a new country and experience its culture; by the sights, sounds, and smells only obtainable by cycling through its countryside. The support of the Trek guides made it exceptionally easy and enjoyable. A perfect way to spend our 15-year wedding anniversary! We'll be back!

The rides were phenomenal.   Great conditions, great views, great challenges, all very rewarding.  Even with selecting the long option ride, I still found the balance of down time to be great. There's enough flexibility within to make the trip YOUR OWN trip. Excellent job.

I cannot think of ANYTHING Trek Travel could have done to improve this trip. I use this word sparingly but, it was the perfect way to see Tuscany and it was the best vacation of my life!

This is the most satisfying and accommodating vacation I've ever been on with my husband. He is the type who really needs a lot of exercise to feel right, and I am not. But Trek made it fun for us both! Thank you for a wonderful time!

Additional Arrival Information

We suggest that you arrive at least one day prior to the start of your Tuscany bike trip, which will enable you to adjust to the time zone and minimize the risk of missing the trip start due to flight-related delays. We recommend that you fly into the Florence Airport (FLR).The airport is about three miles (just under five kilometers) from the town center. You can take a taxi (approximately 20 euros) directly to the hotel, or a bus which departs hourly.

You can also fly into Rome or Milan and take a train or flight from either city. From Rome’s Fiumicino Airport (FCO), you may take a direct train to Rome’s central station, Roma Termini. Follow the “Stazione/Railway Station” signs. Trains depart twice hourly. Tickets can be purchased at a Biglietteria office or from ticket machines. All tickets must be validated before getting on the train: do this by stamping your ticket at the yellow boxes near the platform. The ride takes 30 minutes. From Roma Termini, transfer to a train for Florence. The Eurostar trains depart frequently and are the quickest. The trip takes one and a half hours and costs between 44-62 euros one way per person. In Florence, taxis are available to take you to your hotel. Taxi service is available from Rome Fiumicino Airport to central Rome for approximately 50 euros. For information about travel through Milan’s Malpensa Airport (MXP), consult the website www.airportmalpensa.com .

Your Trek Travel guides will meet you on Via Fiume, 12, 50123, Florence, Italy, in front of the Hotel Albani at 10:30 AM on the first day of the trip. Please wait here to meet your Trek Travel guide. You’ll then shuttle approximately two hours to your lunch spot for a taste of Tuscan cuisine. After lunch, your guides will do a bike fitting to ensure your comfort on your Trek bike this week, before you take your first spin through the countryside. Please have your first day’s riding gear handy and separate from your other luggage to facilitate the bike fitting and ride.

If you will be late for the pick-up or are going to miss it altogether, please inform your guides. If you cannot reach them, please call our first hotel, Palazzo del Capitano in San Quirico (+39 0577 899028) and leave a message with your expected arrival time and contact details.
