Santiago de Chile - October 13th

The first good surprise was with the opening band, Kaiser Chiefs. The show was short but a very good one! The singer, Ricky Wilson, is very charismatic and an excellent dancer!

About Muse - Tour Simulation Theory:

the sound was very good, the instruments were heard in good frequency and also the voices.

The band has a strong connection on stage and a great dynamic between them.

The setlist was very well chosen, mixing successful songs from previous albums, like Hysteria, Supermassive and Starlight; and new album hits like: Algorithm, Propaganda and Thought Contagion.

The songs were similar to other shows that they played on this tour in all Latin America, but they surprised Santiago with the song Bliss (not in other setlists).

Lead singer Matt sings very well live can make different tones of voice, is incredible, just like the albums!

In addition, the lighting games and dancers who were on the stage during the show further contributed to the whole presentation.

The show finished with Knights of Cydonia and made everyone very happy!

A great night! Thank you Muse!

This was the 3rd concert I have seen Muse at. I have to say as far as concerts go, you won't find one with any more to it than a Muse concert. I have been to many concerts and I love them all. Music made in a studio is never going to capture the real live sound. Music is made to be played live!

The Simulation tour was simply amazing. Visually, audibly and just being there. Having trombones being played, actually played not recorded and being a part of the opening was simply astonishing. It as a great sound and visually it was amazing. The same with Pressure, having the trombones out there added to the song and made it unbelievable.

They also played Dig Down the acoustic gospel version live. With Dom, Matt and Chris playing center of the stadium. Chris on the acoustic guitar, Matt on the piano and Dom obviously on the drums. What a neat set to see them playing so close together and the gospel signers on stage lit up by their costumes. Very well done!

Our son didn't(teenager) didn't understand the Close Encounters of the 3rd kind part. Where Matt was playing the guitar and the mother ship was responding. He is too young. :-) My wife and I got it.

Watching Matt play his guitar by his tong! What? I had never seen anything like it. He is amazing. Chris is just amazing on bass and Dom on drums. These guys can do it all!

What a fun show. I really appreciate what Muse has done to give back to their fan's. Too many bands don't care as long as they sell their tickets. Muse doesn't appear to be like that. Even purchasing tickets, they allow the true fans to purchase first getting the best seats.

I look forward to seeing them again! Great show, great music, and a great time. Playing for almost 2 hours. Great job Muse!

brian-luedke’s profile image

There is a reason these guys play in big arenas. It’s not just a few guys on a stage playing their music, it’s a production. Even up in the nosebleeds it was a great show.

Spoiler alert! Don’t read any further if you don’t want to know.

Had it all! Glowing glasses, lit up suits, giant robots, a piano that shoots lasers, dancers with flashlights, smoke machines and glowing batons, and a special appearance by Eddie! People hanging from wires, surprises coming up from trap doors, lasers, lasers and more lasers! The set was a blistering 26 songs lasting a little over two hours!

I will definitely see them again the next time they come to town. Though not from the balcony. They say “Don’t look down if you have a thing about heights.” That’s where the stage is!

Great show.

Let’s fly

Art has no limits

from 22 june to 6 october Mana Wynwood – 318 NW 23rd St, Miami, FL 33127, Stati Uniti

Monumental artworks and international artists have come together to create an extraordinary inflatable experience!

Balloon Museum presents: Let’s Fly at Mana Wynwood in Miami, an original concept featuring works from the most inflated to the most colorful. Always at the avant-garde, the curatorial team is committed to redefining the way art is experienced by pushing back the boundaries of art installation and the classical interactions we know. Synonymous with freedom, flight and access, the Let’s Fly experience takes spectators on an unprecedented sensory journey. Centered on physical interaction, the presented works offer an escape into a universe of freedom never before imagined. Play, touch and feel your way through atmospheres with Cyril Lancelin with his monumental, immersive and luminous labyrinth, to Rub Kandy and his zany tribe of GINJOS, the bouncing spheres by Motorefisico and delve into a completely new terrain created by Camilla Falsini with her original colorful graphic creations. Submerge yourself in hypnotic visual effects, transitioning from light, colorful worlds exemplified by artists like Michael Shaw and his aerial installation entitled Lava Lamp as well as Sasha Frolova’s intoxicating kaleidoscopic fountain.

For the Let’s Fly exhibition in Miami, Filthy Luker invites you to land on an extra-terrestrial planet with their two artworks, Eye Scream and Octopus Attack, while Atelier Sisu joins Balloon Museum for the first time with their grand ethereal bubbles, Evanescent, and Penique Productions make their return with Centipede to take over the space and alter its perception. The idea behind this exhibition is to provide visitors with a unique, made-to-measure experience. Marvel at the graceful bubbles of Italian collective Quiet Ensemble, draw with the help of the ADA sculpture conceived and designed by German-Polish artist Karina Smigla-Bobinski, and admire the Floating Giants by the artist Max Streicher. Plunge into the thousands of black spheres of Hyperstudio collective, listen to the musical respirations of Australian studio Eness’s sculptures and gaze up to the installation of Korean artist MyeongBeom Kim. Reflective environments appear on the path with the work of Tadao Cern and his BB series of minimalist sculptures and the obscure, moving inflatable creature by the artist SpY.

In this exhibition-experience, artworks stimulate our senses through touch, sight and sound. Having fun while discovering transdisciplinary works of art through immersive proposals is the concept of the Balloon Museum. Since 2022, artistic propositions have expanded. Today, inflatable art appears in digital projects, with the Ouchhh collective for example and its Data Art experiments, or with the Sila Sveta collective, inviting visitors into their utopian worlds through animated pop images. Founded in 2020, Balloon Museum is an exhibition born in Rome, Italy. Winner of the prestigious 2022 BEA Best Proprietary Format award, for several years it has been developing programming focused on inflatable art, an artistic movement that emerged in the mid-20th century and is driven by collectives of architects, artists and designers.

For Let’s Fly in Miami, the artists selected belong to the new generation of this movement. These artists are aware of the need to renew exhibition formats, and are constantly seeking to push the limits of this material, which can be transformed at will. In addition, you’ll discover a space devoted to the history of inflatables, from the first experiments by the Montgolfier brothers in the 18th century to the famous Balloon Dog series by American artist Jeff Koons.

A Swift tour of Taylor's Britain: As Taylor Swift's UK tour comes to a close, the singer's biographer reveals the star's favourite spots

  • Taylor Swift has penned lyrics about some of her favourite English destinations
  • From a kebab shop to a haunted inn - find out the superstar's top British haunts
  • READ MORE: Forget Miami and Orlando - here are Florida's best hotspots

America's sweetheart fell in love with England – and an Englishman, actor Joe Alwyn , with whom she has since split – eight years ago.

Her enduring affection for Britain continues and, as she wraps up the UK leg of her worldwide Eras Tour, here’s where you can follow in her footsteps.

Taylor-made in London

Swift's song London Boy suggests the songstress is in Highgate in the morning, Camden Town and Shoreditch in the afternoon and Brixton by night. I’ll save you the taxi fare and reveal her top spots in the capital.

First there’s The Savoy hotel, overlooking the Thames on the Strand, which featured in her End Game video shot with Ed Sheeran . It sees her occupying the Royal Suite, which costs more than £17,000 a night.

Next up, slightly less expensively for Swifties on pilgrimages, is the Kentish Delight kebab shop at 381 Kentish Town Road. This was also in ‘End Game’ - and Swift remains a customer.

She and her entourage recently spent around £100 ordering 15 kebabs to the delight of owner, Ahmed Khan. He has commented: ‘From Taylor Swift , we get many, many, orders.’ Lucky chap.

Then you have the Black Dog pub in Vauxhall, at 112 Vauxhall Walk, where you may come across a trail of friendship bracelets left by fans. The pub is named after her song Black Dog from her album The Tortured Poets Department.

Swift also has a love of pubs with literary themes, and she and Alwyn were once regulars at The Spaniards Inn in Hampstead, near their now lyrically famous ‘house on the heath’. John Keats is said to have penned Ode To A Nightingale at the pub.

The Spaniards Inn dates back to 1585, while Highgate’s The Flask, another of her favourites, is almost as historic, having opened in 1663 and said to have been a haunt of Lord Byron.

Taylor also loves a spot of shopping, enjoying Liberty on Regent Street, and reportedly spending a jaw-dropping £30,000 in a single day at the Instagram-famous antiques store Alice’s on Portobello Road.

Where to stay: Doubles at The Savoy from £764 ( fairmont.com ); doubles at Bull & Last pub close to Hampstead Heath and Kentish Delight kebab shop from £165 ( thebullandlast.co.uk ).

The Lakes for Swifties

Swift was first introduced to the region by then boyfriend and One Direction singer Harry Styles in 2012. They visited Bowness on her 23rd birthday, even heading into Beatrix Potter World to retrace the steps of the Peter Rabbit author.

While her relationship fizzled out, Taylor returned again after turning 30 and later referenced it in her 2020 song The Lakes, where she name-checked the peaks around Windermere as a ‘perfect place to cry’ on her 2020 album Folklore.

She mentioned heading off to bathe in a clifftop pool with her ‘muse’, too. This is probably the famous Buttermere infinity pool, in the western Lakes.

Swift referenced the Lake District’s association with John Keats and William Wordsworth in her documentary, Long Pond Studio Sessions.

Where to stay: Doubles at Buttermere Court Hotel from £125 ( buttermerecourthotel.co.uk ).

Cotswolds Haven

The singer is known to enjoy the exclusive members’ club Soho Farmhouse, a haven for creatives and celebrities near Chipping Norton. Taylor is a fan of the cabins set among wildflower meadows on the 100-acre estate. Membership costs around £2,250 a year, and only members can book rooms.

She also likes the Fleece Inn, in Bretforton, three miles from Evesham. Its atmospheric timber-beamed rooms are allegedly home to a ghost.

Outdoors, astronomy fan Taylor might have climbed Cleeve Hill for a spot of dark-sky stargazing. Or there’s the Cotswolds answer to Stonehenge – the neolithic Rollright Stones.

Where to stay: Doubles at The Fleece Inn from £110 B&B ( thefleeceinn.co.uk ).

Gena Rowlands Remembered: How ‘A Woman Under the Influence’ Transformed the Craft of Screen Acting

Gena Rowlands a Women under the Influence

Every great screen performance expands the medium in its own way, giving audiences something to respond to, while offering fresh ideas to future actors. A select few can be said to have redefined the craft entirely: Orson Welles in “Citizen Kane,” Marlon Brando in “On the Waterfront,” Toshiro Mifune in “Rashomon” and Gena Rowlands in “ A Woman Under the Influence .”

Gina was there from the beginning of her husband John’s filmmaking career, witnessing firsthand what is widely recognized as the birth of the American independent film movement. Technically, Rowlands was on stage, acting opposite Edward G. Robinson in “Middle of the Night,” when Cassavetes made “Shadows.” (She does appear briefly in the film, but made a far greater impression in the nine other movies they made together.) Rowlands served as his muse, and without such a force to inhabit her roles, Cassavetes’ oeuvre would not have had the seismic influence on the course of screen acting.

According to Rowlands (who served as a sort of living memory for her husband after his death in 1989), Cassavetes wrote detailed scripts for nearly all his subsequent projects. And yet, “Shadows” made such a revolutionary impression on the filmmaking community at the time that Cassavetes’ name came to be associated with improvisation, such that audiences assumed those projects were made the same way (where actors were responsible for their own dialogue), to the extent that many directors have credited Cassavetes as the pioneer of their own improv-based approaches.

The truth is more nuanced, but also essential to understanding Rowlands’ power as an actor. Given his own background (he played Mia Farrow’s husband in “Rosemary’s Baby” the same year he made “Faces”), Cassavetes was the apotheosis of an “actor’s director.” He implicitly trusted those he’d cast in his films to make the characters their own, listening to their suggestions and encouraging whatever original ideas they might bring.

In a video interview with the Academy, Rowlands describes a liberating lesson her husband gave her on “A Woman Under the Influence.” Rowlands was second-guessing her ability to play the title character, and Cassavetes insisted that he’d written it for her. “The part belongs to you,” he told her, putting full trust in Rowlands to embody it. “It was the most wonderful feeling of freedom,” she explained. “It’s freed me up in many things since, so that when I hear the word ‘action,’ it’s not any pressure. [The part] is mine to do with what I think is right.”

The one caveat with Cassavetes: After “Shadows,” it always went back to the script, resulting in a highly disciplined form of improvisation that can fairly be compared to jazz. The performers learn their music, but are free to interpret and embellish in ways that make the result feel unpredictable and alive — in short, true to life.

In “A Woman Under the Influence,” Rowlands plays Mabel Longhetti, a modern housewife who sincerely wants to please her husband, but is overwhelmed by her three children, an intrusive mother-in-law and unattainable ideas of what a “perfect wife” should be. To put the film in context, “The Stepford Wives” (from “Rosemary’s Baby” writer Ira Levin) had landed two years earlier, which goes to show that society was questioning whether the notion of a “perfect wife” was a reasonable ideal.

Until Rowlands played that character, the vast majority of screen performances could be described as “acting normal.” Some stars, like Rowlands’ idol Bette Davis (with whom she appeared in the TV movie “Strangers: The Story of a Mother and Daughter”), devoured a fair amount of scenery along the way, but they tended to avoid the kind of twitching, contorted agony we see on Rowlands’ face in scene after scene of “A Woman Under the Influence.”

Few had ever let audiences in to the slow, excruciating unraveling of a woman’s psyche the way Rowlands did. The most painful part — from the spaghetti breakfast she serves Nick and his buddies to the climactic slap — comes in knowing that Mabel is trying to keep it together. She wants to be the perfect wife.

“Tell me what you want me to… how you want me to be,” she stammers to her husband early on, pleading, “I can be that. I can be anything. You tell me, Nicky.” Rowlands possessed the range to play anybody, but poor Mabel doesn’t. She can only be herself, rendered human and recognizable in all her flaws.
