Safari Zone/Acro Bike help

  • Thread starter EMF001
  • Start date Apr 28, 2007

greetings all. I just joined up and I hope someone here can give me a hand. In Emerald, I'm trying to use the Acro Bike to get to the North East part of the Safari Zone. I use the bike to go across the skinny white bridge and then do a wheely jump to try to leap over to the next part of the bridge but for some reason I can't move the control up or down. As a result I'm stuck. Anyone out there know how I can solve this little problem? Both my girlfriend and I have tried evrything we know and still can't get across.

Well-Known Member

you have to cpress down the direction you want to go and do a hop at the same time, it's sort of complicated, hope this helps!

I believe I did that but I'll try again anyway to see maybe I wasn't focusing. I'll let know what happens. Thanks for the info.

If you leave your hand on b the bike will keep hoping and you can move with it. Do jump up press Up and b at the same time to jump to the side but going up, Lol a more simple way. Say your bike is facing this way <- press up and b at the same time and it will jump upwards. Hope i helped.

Jump: Press the B Button and the + Control Pad at the same time to jump. Press the + Control Pad to the side to jump sideways. Press it backwards to make the BIKE change directions while jumping.

I tried what everyone suggested and it didn't seem to work. It appears that when your on those skinny white bridges, you can only move side-to-side and can't point yourself in either the up or down direction. I'll keep trying but if I still can't maybe I'll import those Pokemon from another game like my copy of Leaf Green.

Once you are on the slats, to get to the next one, press Up and B at the same time. It can take a while to get the hang of it, but it does work.

Bike obstacles

Bicycle obstacles are obstacles that can only be crossed riding a Bicycle or locations that require the player to ride a bike.

  • 1.1 Cracked tiles
  • 1.2 Muddy slopes
  • 1.3 Rails and logs
  • 1.4 Bumpy slopes
  • 2 Bike only areas
  • 3 Bikeless areas

Cracked tiles

Cracked tiles can only be traveled over with a Mach Bike . If a player slows down or walks on the cracks, they will fall through the floor. The Mach Bike will travel over them fast enough to get over them before they crumble away. Cracked floors have only appeared in Generation III , most notably within the Sky Pillar . The only other locations this obstacle is found in are the Granite Cave and the Mirage Tower , making this exclusive to Ruby, Sapphire , and Emerald .

Muddy slopes

Muddy slopes can only be passed with a Mach Bike or, in Generation IV , the Bicycle shifted into fourth gear. If a player attempts to walk up or uses a slow bike/ bike gear to ride up the slope, they will slide back down before they reach the top. They will also slide down if they stop on the slope before reaching the top. These are found in both Generation III , IV , and Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire .

Rails and logs

This obstacle is known as a rail in Generation III and Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire and as a fallen log in Generation IV . While the function is largely the same, there are slight differences between generations. In Generation III/VI, only the Acro Bike can be used to get across, as riders need to use the Bike's jumping function to go from rail to rail. In Generation IV, there's no trick to riding on them, so both gears of the Bicycle can travel on the rails. In Generation III/VI, they are mainly found on Route 119 . There are fallen logs on Routes 210 , 212 , and 228 in Generation IV.

Bumpy slopes

These slopes, which are seen in Generation III and Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire , can only be climbed with an Acro Bike 's bunny hop trick. This feature is mainly in Jagged Pass and the Safari Zone .

In Generation IV , there are some small ramps found on the ground. If the bike is in a fast gear and has space to get up to speed, it will launch off the ramp and jump far. However, if it is in third gear or isn't up to speed, the ramp will only launch the bike a little for a much smaller jump. Usually, the ramp puzzles require a far jump rather than a short jump. However, one of the ramps in the secret area of Wayward Cave requires the bike to be in third gear or else the player will jump too far.

Bike only areas

There are three places in the Pokémon games where players must ride their Bicycles.

  • Cycling Road (Kanto)
  • Seaside Cycling Road
  • Cycling Road (Sinnoh)

Bikeless areas

There are several places in the Pokémon games where players cannot ride their Bicycles.

  • Long grass R S E D P Pt B W B2 W2
  • Water (except for Water Mode Rotom Bike in Sword and Shield )
  • Most buildings
  • Pacifidlog Town R S E
  • Tree Houses of Fortree City

How do you use the acro bike to jump the circular ledges?

Pokemon alpha sapphire, pokemon alpha sapphire (3ds).

  • I'm trying to use the acro bike to jump the ledges found in safari zone and other places but I can't figure out how. I tried using the bunny hop to get up on them but it doesn't work. Does anyone know how to do it or what I'm doing wrong? Thank you! Calcioso - 9 years ago - report
  • The bunny hop should work, where you hold B. If you are talking about the railing in the safari zone, all you have to do is point in respective direction and press B. If not, and you are talking about the wood ledge things, make sure you are lined up and hold B. Hope this helped! TypH_ - 9 years ago - report 25   15
  • Hold down the b button for a bit. While standing still. NightwingJay - 9 years ago - report 19   9
