Take a Virtual Tour of Greene King
A trip to bury st edmunds would not be complete without a tour of greene king brewery and now you can take a virtual tour from the comfort of your armchair, virtual tour - greene king.
Bury St Edmunds has been the home of Greene King for more than 200 years!
They’ve been crafting fine British beers from the historic Westgate brewery since 1799, where their brewers use locally malted barley, water from 1,000 year old chalk wells and more quality ingredients in all of their famous brews. You can find their award-winning beers in the traditional pubs that Greene King runs in and around East Anglia, as well as in many of their 3,100 pubs, restaurants and hotels in cities, towns and villages located across the UK.
Now you can enjoy a walk through tour of their historic Westgate brewery in Bury St Edmunds from the comfort of your own home - you'll have to supply the beer though!
The Greene King Brewery 3D tour takes viewers into the entrance of the 1930s art deco brewery with its elegant pale marble floor and walls and impressive giant copper mash tuns. Arrows on the screen allow visitors to navigate around the brewery stopping at hotspots of information along the tour.
The 3D experience enables viewers to explore all six floors of the gravity led brewery from the rooftop views housing the water tanks to the hop store, running mills, malt screens and hoppers.
Speaking about the new website Matt Starbuck, managing director said: “The 3D virtual tour is a fantastic tool as it really captures the essence of the brewery. We brew ½ million pints of beer a day at the brewery which is highly reliant on the skill of our team and a traditional understanding how we develop recipes that create complex flavours and delicious beers.
"Our brewers today use some of the same equipment their fathers and grandfathers used before them and it is these aspects of our brewing process combined with some state of the art brewing equipment we have which shows how we have embraced both the old and new.
“We love to show visitors around the brewery as we know it’s absolutely unique, but of course not everyone can visit Bury St Edmunds. This way, viewers can get a taste of our brewery tour experience without stepping foot out of their home.”
The Greene King Brewery Tour is just one of the fantastic attractions to see and experience during your visit to Bury St Edmunds.
If you like the 3D virtal tour, you'll love a visit to the brewery in person with fantastic views from the brewery's roof, beer tasting and a trip to Greene King's Beer Cafe!
Greene King offers daily public tours of its Georgian-era brewery and, with six consecutive TripAdvisor ‘certificates of excellence’ to its name, the experience is well worth a visit.
Visitors are taken on a guided 1 hour 40 minute journey around the historic working brew house to see where many of the nation’s favourite ales are brewed, including Greene King IPA, Old Speckled Hen and Abbot Ale, which is famously named for the brewers who used to work at Bury St Edmunds’ Great Abbey hundreds of years ago.
The tour includes a trip up to the roof for one of the best panoramic views of our market town and finishes with a tutored beer tasting in the Greene King Beer Café.
The Beer Café is worth a visit in its own right with fresh beer on tap and locally roasted coffee, homemade cakes and light bites served throughout the day. Breakfast and lunch are also available daily and the Greene King Shop offers beers and gifts to take away. Look out for some great ales inspired by the local region, including St Edmunds and Suffolk Springer.
