Upper Antelope Canyon, which is also known as “The Crack,” is the most popular of the two slot canyons that make up Antelope Canyon. Tour 1 allows sightseers to experience the canyon for around 80 minutes in their selected time slot. With the new updated guidelines, Upper Antelope Canyon is a single direction tour. Visitors will now exit with a 15-minute hike, up and over the beautiful canyon. There are 21 steps going up and 112 steps going down.

Closed end shoes are recommended and are required for our 3 private canyons. We discourage skirts and dresses due to the ladders and the terrain. We ask our guests to dress modest because we do accommodate families. Canyons can be up to 10 degrees cooler than the external temperature, so layers are recommended for your comfort. The temperature is usually five to ten degrees cooler, all year around in the canyons. Dress in layers to accommodate changing temperatures.

If it is windy, we do recommend a hat and handkerchief to cover your nose, mouth, and ears. Sand enters the canyon in all directions, so photographers please bring a cover for your camera, a plastic shower cap works best.

1. Cancellation Policy:

If you cancel a tour 72 hours (or more) before the scheduled start of your originally booked tour, then you will get a 94% refund. Between 24 and 72 hours, you will get a 50% refund. Cancellations within 24 hours, no refund will be made. Be patient. From the date we issue the refund, it will take 3-5 business days to post to your account.

2. We operate on Mountain Standard Time

Our company, Adventurous Antelope Canyon Tours, DO NOT operate on Daylight Savings Time however the Navajo Nation does acknowledge the time zone. We may be located on the Navajo Nation but we as a business DO NOT operate on DST. We operate on MOUNTAIN STANDARD TIME all year round. That is the same time as Phoenix, AZ and Page, AZ. If you find yourself confused, the best thing to do is Google ‘Page, AZ time’ and follow the time listed. You can also turn off the set automatic time zone and set it to ‘Phoenix, AZ’ while you are visiting Page and the surrounding area. Google Maps and the time on your phone will adjust based on your current location so please keep that mind. Once again, we DO NOT operate on Daylight Savings Time.

3. No Bag Policy

This means no bags of any kind; ie: no back packs, no purses, no fanny packs, no baby carriers, and no water bags. On our multiple canyons tours – we do allow a small bag but it remains in the vehicle while in the canyon. (AACT is not responsible for any kind of theft, stolen property, or any damage)

4. Accessibility

A portion of the tour is “off road” and can be washboarded and quite bumpy. No Pregnant women are allowed. No wheelchairs. People with back problems, or people who have recently had surgery are advised to not take this tour. You will be walking about one half mile in sandy and rocky terrain. Customers going on this tour accept ALL liability for their own health issues.

5. Is your canyon wheelchair accessible and do you allow service animals?

Due to our location, we are unable to accommodate guests with wheelchairs and apologize for this inconvenience. Animals of any kind, (including service animals) are NOT allowed on the parking lot premises or canyon.

• Chevron down WHAT’S YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

TERMS AND CONDITIONS / CANCELLATION POLICY:

A FULL REFUND is available if the cancellation occurs 48+ hours before your arrival date – all sales are final if you book within the 48hr window of the tour date . You can cancel your booking (or rebook), the link is in your email confirmation, where your name and tour information is located (top of email), If you are canceling well ahead of the cancellation policy we do not require you to tell us why you need to cancel, clicking the link in your email is quick and easy. If the link is not allowing cancellation contact us by email or phone please have your booking number ready . Customers will also receive a full refund in the event of “the operator” canceling tours due to extreme weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

If you miss your tour there are NO Refunds , nor will we allow you to transfer your payment to another booking. In addition, showing up at our office, at the time of check-in and notifying us someone in your party did not make it, with no prior acknowledgment, will result in no refund. Payments cannot be transferred to another date. Be sure to arrive early or even extra early – our address works on all GPS devices. Office Location is 22 (Twenty Two) SOUTH Lake Powell Boulevard – Page Arizona 86040 If we are notified by you, the customer, of any changes in your passenger count. Let’s say the night before you know someone is not going to make the tour the next day, let us know via EMAIL (do not call), you stand a small chance of a partial refund – with notification from you we can put the seat(s) back up on the market and if resold we can offer some money back to you – a restocking fee might apply – this offer does not apply if we are notified at check-in.

Advance notice of a reduction of passengers in your booking will not be a full refund: we will refund the tour cost, the booking fees are non-refundable (varies 3 -8.41%). Only a complete cancellation yields a full refund*. We are not liable for mistakes made with online bookings (e.g. wrong date, not knowing our tours are into the **Upper Antelope Canyon**), going to the wrong location, and not understanding time shifts with the time zones.

*Full refunds are only available if we are refunding the same card used for booking (if your card is compromised and you’ve been given a new card – the refund will still get to you). If you used a prepaid card that you no longer have or if you want to be refunded to a different card e.g. from Visa to Amex – the conditions for refund are different – we would only be able to refund 80% of the charge. There is no need to type your credit card details to us if you cancel, if anything you could provide the last 4 numbers if you wish but Not all the numbers. Refunded amounts are in USD , if your refund does not match the paid amount, it is due to a possible change in currency exchange rates.

If you have a receipt from another Lake Powell Navajo Tribal park showing you already paid the tribal park fee, a refund could be available – if a receipt (hardcopy) with matching dates is given to us – not an email confirmation – these refunds will not be granted in advance, only on the day of – No refunds if you forget or do not have a copy of the receipt for us.

Health and well-being of everyone: If you or someone in your group has flu-like symptoms, or signs of C-19 [ Click Here ] symptoms, let us know, the sooner we know the better chance you might get a partial refund (restocking fee will apply). By not telling us in advance we will consider it as a no-show with no Refund; best to notify us by email. Finally, those showing symptoms of C-19 and attempting to join the tour will have their temperature taken, if their temp is 100.4 degrees F or greater the entire group will not be allowed on tour and there will be no refund – it’s best to let us know as soon as possible so you can hopefully get a partial refund (restocking fee will be applied to sudden cancellations).

All refunds Could take up to 45 days (average is 10 business days).

One last thing, do know we will not call you if you are not here for the tour you purchased. Everyone should be responsible enough to double-check the tour date, and tour time & and arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled tour time.

We are located in Page Arizona – our office address is 22 South Lake Powell BLVD – Page Arizona 86040.

We meet at this location and our tours depart from this location.

Please note we do not offer shuttle services, we do not pick up in Las Vegas or other surrounding areas. To Join our tour you will need to find a way to Page Arizona and join the tour.

• Chevron down WHAT TIME IS IT IN PAGE, ARIZONA?

Tours operated on Arizona Time, the same time as Phoenix Arizona. Our town of Page AZ is ALWAYS -7 UTC , we never change times, we do not observe daylight savings (just like the rest of the state of Arizona, minus the Navajo Nation)

During Daylight Savings pacific time is the same as Arizona the remaining months pacific time is one-hour behind Arizona.

Is Antelope Canyon on the Navajo Reservation ? Yes, but everyone in this community does not use daylight savings, all businesses in this area follow Phoenix Arizona time.

• Chevron down CAN I GO TO ANTELOPE CANYON BY MYSELF?

No, the Antelope Canyon is protected by the Navajo Parks and Recreation and only authorized tour companies can take visitors to the canyon. Safety and preventing vandalism are the main reasons why everyone needs a guided tour; the canyon became unavailable to the public in 1997. One cannot go alone; you have to be with an authorized tour company .

• Chevron down IS THE WALK DIFFICULT?

In total we are walking 1,200 meters, the first 400 meters is relatively easy, there are no ladders/stairs inside the Upper Antelope Canyon – it is all ground level. The entire time you’re at the canyon you will be walking on sand, some areas have softer sand and some areas are more packed down. Now to arrive back to where we parked our trucks we must continue for another 800 meters, there is a hike involved, there is a hill to conquer, and there are stairs we have to go up and then down outside of the canyon, we’re walking up, around, and back down.

This walk can be difficult for those who have had recent knee, hip surgery – please note we have to finish our tour in a timely manner. All in all, we rate this a level 3 out of 10 in difficulty, and sorry to say this tour is not accessible friendly.

• Chevron down CAN YOU LEAVE ME IN THE CANYON?

We cannot. As of 2003, we were given strict guidelines from the Navajo Parks and Recreation to have a guide present at all times with visitors. There are no self-guided hikes into the Antelope Canyon. It is completely restricted to tours only, you cannot be left alone, and our tour guides will be providing you with a fully guided tour.

• Chevron down DO I NEED RESERVATIONS?

Yes, with passenger limits it is best to have a reservation before arriving in Page, AZ. It is very important to have your tours booked before traveling many miles. If we are sold out we really are sold out, and we do not maintain a waitlist.

• Chevron down WHAT DID I JUST BUY ONLINE?

If you made a booking on our website you have purchased a fully guided tour into the Upper Antelope Canyon. Please note it is a guided tour through and through – please don’t be under the impression you bought entry into the canyon to explore on your own, this is not the case. Sightseeing tours run 90-100 mins from start to finish – we provide the transportation and guide commentary along with some photo tips while you’re on tour.

You may have also bought our tour to Vermilion Cliffs.

• Chevron down CAN I TAKE A BAG?

We are only allowing clear bags on tour – items in the clear bag must be visible. We do not allow opaque bags to be placed inside a clear bag. Yes you can take water, Yes you can take your medication and your pocketbook, but in a clear bag.

Carrying water is possible without a bag, we suggest a bottle that has a strap attached to it. A clear water bottle is best, but a standard hydroflask is okay so long you show our guide the container is indeed holding water.

Only bring items you actually need – do not bring anything that is considered illegal or dangerous

• Chevron down HOW CAN I CARRY MY BABY ON TOUR?

You are on your feet for one hour, you can use a backpack carrier and or sling to carry your little one.

if your carrier has a metal frame you need to mind the rocks, don’t scratch the walls with your backpack.

Strollers will not work in the soft sand.

• Chevron down CAN I TAKE MY PET?

Tours to Antelope Canyon, sorry no pets or service animals, are not allowed on the tour (by order of the Navajo Nation Government/Tribal Parks Department).

Tours to Vermilion Cliffs, pets are allowed.

• Chevron down DO YOU TAKE WALK-INS?

This depends on the season. If you are visiting during the off-season (Nov-Feb) your odds might be okay. If you are visiting us in-season (Mar-Oct) your odds are low. There are daily passenger limits, and we always recommend advance reservations , especially during holidays . Please book a tour and hotel before traveling hundreds/thousands of miles to visit our area.

Please note, if our calendar is marked Sold Out , we really are sold out . We cannot accommodate walk-ins if we are marked sold out – we do not allot tickets for walk-ins. Remember the only way to see the canyon is on a tour – you cannot go on your own.

• Chevron down WHAT TIME CAN I SEE THE "BEAM OF LIGHT?"

The beams of light are visible on clear, sunny days. If you happen to be here on a cloudy day we will not accept cancellations, as we do not control the weather. With this said it’s usually followed by the question, “Does it make sense for me to go at a different time?” or “Will it be worth it?” My answer to you: Yes, the canyon is forever beautiful, and all tour times have something great to offer with great photo opportunities. the 12:00pm tour that we offer (in 2022) gives you a chance to see some beams of light along with awesome colors throughout the canyon. But trust us, all tour times are Beautiful, without a doubt. Please note the beams of light happen best between the months of April and August, September, mostly the first half of September- the end of September there are partial beams touching the walls.

• Chevron down IS THE TOUR SAFE FOR CHILDREN?

We have children of all ages join our tour, and we believe it is safe. On windy days, however, babies don’t like the extra dust blowing around.

UPDATE 2020 & beyond: The extra hike we will take up and over the canyon should be fine for children – Please note the walk up and over does not involve any dangerous heights – you might want to consider the temperatures depending on the season.

• Chevron down I AM PREGNANT, CAN I JOIN THE TOUR?

Please follow your doctor’s orders. However, we have had many pregnant ladies join our tour, and we do offer the option to sit in the cab of the truck with the driver. These are limited seats so be sure to tell us in advance.

• Chevron down WILL I GET SAND ON ME?

Yes, we will be traveling through the desert and the canyon floor has a sandy floor. A gust of wind can get dust moving. If you are sensitive to dust you may want to bring a mask or bandana.

• Chevron down CAN I USE MY TRIPOD?

Tripods are not allowed on the Sightseer’s Tour , nor mono-pods. Only hand-held photography is allowed these days – please note we do not allow photo sessions on tour.

However, on the Vermilion Tours you can bring them.

• Chevron down DO YOU DO TOURS TO HORSESHOE BEND?

We do not, reason why: Horseshoe Bend does not require a tour . No need to buy a tour, as you can drive yourself to the trail-head. As of April 2019 the city of Page, AZ renovated the parking lot and is now collecting a fee to park your car. Rates start at $10 per vehicle (motorcycles $5). View where the parking lot is >

From our office, the trailhead to Horseshoe Bend is less than 10 minutes away.

We are considering adding this as an option, the demand seems to be high – if this sounds like something you want to let me know, if I get enough emails I may consider it.

• Chevron down ARE UPPER AND LOWER ANTELOPE THE SAME?

No, they are not the same – these two canyons are miles apart from one another. The upper and lower canyons share a dry-wash and when and if there is a flood, the water flows through the upper canyon first (elevation), hence the name lower and Upper Antelope Canyon. Final note: tours into the Upper Antelope – you are walking through the beautiful sandstone walls – check out our gallery of the Upper Antelope Canyon.

• Chevron down DO YOU DO TOURS INTO THE LOWER?

Our tours are into the world-famous Upper Antelope Canyon . We do not offer tours to the lower section. The lower portion has its own set of tour operators that conduct tours there (lower) and only there. There are no combo tours, if you wish to see both canyons you will have to book two separate tours with two separate companies.

• Chevron down ARE THERE LADDERS IN THE UPPER ANTELOPE CANYON?

Inside the canyon, there are no ladders or stairs.

Outside of the canyon, after we’ve walked through the canyon there are stairs/ramps involved.

• Chevron down CAN I GO TO VERMILION CLIFFS ON MY OWN

Yes, the Vermilion Cliffs is BLM recreation, however remember the North and South Coyote Buttes require hard-to-obtain permits beforehand.

Why are we providing tours? We handle the task of transportation (without the proper vehicle you run the risk of getting stuck in soft sand), we know the way, safety and knowledge of the area.
