Milan announce 29-man squad for US tour

AC Milan have unveiled the squad for their upcoming pre-season tour in the United States, featuring 29 players selected by coach Paulo Fonseca. The Rossoneri are set to participate in the Soccer Champions Tour for the second year in a row, facing off against some of Europe’s top clubs.

The tour includes three high-profile matches:

– Manchester City on July 27 at Yankee Stadium, New York – Real Madrid on July 31 at Soldier Field, Chicago – FC Barcelona on August 6 at M&T Bank Stadium, Baltimore

The 29-man squad comprises:

– Goalkeepers: Sportiello, Raveyre, Nava, Torriani – Defenders: Bakoune, Calabria, Florenzi, Gabbia, Jimenez, Kalulu, Terracciano, Thiaw, Tomori – Midfielders: Adli, Bennacer, Musah, Pobega, Saelemaekers, Loftus-Cheek, Pulisic – Forwards: Chukwueze, Colombo, Cuenca, Jovic, Leao, Liberali, Maldini, Nasti, Okafor[4]

Notable absences include Theo Hernandez, Mike Maignan, and Tijjani Reijnders, who will rejoin the team at Milanello on August 3 following extended breaks due to international commitments.

This tour marks a significant step in AC Milan’s global development strategy under RedBird Capital Partners. With 43 million fans in the US, Milan is the most-followed Serie A club in the country[1]. The tour aims to strengthen the club’s brand, boost commercial growth, and engage with partners such as Emirates, PUMA, and BMW through various initiatives.

As Milan prepares for the tour, they’ve been relatively quiet in the transfer market, with Alvaro Morata from Atletico Madrid being their only significant acquisition so far. However, the club is reportedly targeting players like Lazar Samardzic, Youssouf Fofana, and Strahinja Pavlovic in the coming weeks.

AC Milan tickets for US tour: Schedule, dates, host cities

As part of their preseason schedule, AC Milan will return to the US for the second year running in a 2024 tour.

While Pulisic and Musah were getting to know their new squad, the Rossoneri played three matches in the US last year. The Red-and-Blacks had a successful run on the West Coast. There, they played Real Madrid and Juventus in Los Angeles before battling Barcelona in Las Vegas. 

Pulisic, who has become a household name with Milan , and the rest of the club will be returning to the United States this summer to play three matches. 

Along with Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester City, Milan will be a part of the Soccer Champions Tour . New York, New Jersey, Chicago, Orlando, Baltimore and Charlotte will play home to friendly matches between five of the most illustrious clubs in the world in 2024. 

Additionally, they made use of their market presence to host a variety of unique events aimed at engaging fans. The Rossoneri colors and brand will be introduced to their ardent North American audience.

The first matchup vs Manchester City will take place at the legendary Yankee Stadium, home to the New York Yankees. A long-term partnership between AC Milan’s major shareholder, RedBird Capital Partners, and Yankee Global Enterprises has led to this strategic alliance. 

Moving on to the second match in the exhibition series, AC Milan will go to Chicago, Illinois. In a match that echoes a 1991 friendly between AC Milan and the US Men’s National Team. Pulisic, Musah, and Real Madrid will square off at Soldier Field. 

In the last match of the competition, the Rossoneri will face off against Barcelona at the M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland. This is an area where AC Milan Academy Virginia maintains a consistent presence in the US. 

Preparations for 125th anniversary

Having established a strong presence in the North American market, AC Milan now have 43 million US followers. In addition, worldwide market research firm YouGov acknowledges them as the most esteemed Italian soccer club. 

During their 2024 preseason trip, the Rossoneri will play a series of highly publicized matches against elite European teams. During the next season, AC Milan will commemorate the incredible achievement of 125 years of history, and they will prepare for it in the US.

AC Milan to take part in 2024 Soccer Champions Tour in the US next summer

AC Milan is delighted to announce that the First Men’s Team will be traveling to the United States of America this summer on a pre-season tour, which will see the Rossoneri taking part in the 2024 Soccer Champions Tour.

The 2024 exhibition series will see five of the world’s most iconic club – AC Milan, FC Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester City and Real Madrid CF - play a series of friendly games in host stadiums across New York, New Jersey, Chicago, Orlando, Baltimore, and Charlotte.

AC Milan will therefore return to the US for the second consecutive year for a pre-season tour, following a positive experience on the West Coast last summer, which saw the Rossoneri play games against Real Madrid and Juventus in Los Angeles and FC Barcelona in Las Vegas. The Club also utilised its presence in the market to carry out a number of special fan engagement activities and commercial activations with its partners that brought the Rossoneri colours and brand closer to its passionate North American fanbase.

With 43 million fans in the US and recognition as the best-regarded Italian football Club according to international market research YouGov, AC Milan has grown to become deeply rooted in the North America. The Club's partnership with the New York Yankees and YES Network , the recent Fourth kit launch with its partner PUMA and Los Angeles streetwear brand PLEASURES – AC Milan’s most successful kit launch event – as well as the Club’s recent participation at the prestigious South by Southwest 2024 in Austin, represent some key highlights that testify its constant presence and influence in the USA.

The 2024 pre-season tour will include a number of high-profile games against top European clubs for the Rossoneri as they will get ready for the next football season, during which AC Milan will celebrate the remarkable milestone of 125 years of history. Exclusive pre-sale tickets will be available starting 25 March, with the general on-sale ticket access beginning on 27 March. Below are the details of the three friendly matches that AC Milan will play in the USA this summer:

Saturday, 27 July 2024 – vs Manchester City in New York City, NY Taking place at the iconic Yankee Stadium, home of the New York Yankees, this game will put the Rossoneri up against Manchester City. The special game will underline the Club’s partnership with the New York Yankees, which brought two of the most iconic sports brands in the world together. A strategic collaboration resulting from a longstanding relationship between Yankee Global Enterprises and RedBird Capital Partners, the controlling shareholder of AC Milan.

Wednesday, 31 July 2024 – vs Real Madrid CF in Chicago, IL AC Milan will travel to Chicago, Illinois, for the second game of the exhibition series, where the Rossoneri will take on Real Madrid CF at the historic Soldier Field, which hosted a friendly match between AC Milan and the US Men’s National Team in 1991.

Tuesday, 6 August 2024 – vs FC Barcelona in Baltimore, MD The Rossoneri’s final game of the tournament will see the team take on FC Barcelona at the M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland, in an area of the US where AC Milan has a constant presence thanks to its AC Milan Academy Virginia.

The new tour in the summer will allow the First Men’s Team to prepare the new season in state-of-the-art facilities and will provide a further opportunity to continue the growth path of the Club off the pitch and to strengthen the positive perception of the AC Milan brand at an international level.

Additional details about the Club’s plans for the trip to USA will be announced in the coming months.

TIME MACHINE: LAZIO v AC MILAN

Let's wrap up a busy August with the season’s first big match. Our opening clash is against a team that, like us, will be competing in European competitions. Lazio v AC Milan games are usually packed with goals and drama, where every moment can be crucial. To set the stage for our third league fixture, we're revisiting the match from 1 November 2015 in Time Machine.

It's Matchday 11. Lazio and AC Milan, managed by former coaches of both clubs, Pioli and Mihajlović , meet while both are in the European spots, keen to use this direct clash to gain an advantage in the league standings. The match at the Olimpico features two attacking teams. Lazio's 4-2-3-1 formation faces AC Milan's usual 4-3-3 , led by the trio Cerci-Bacca-Bonaventura. Notably, it's also Gianluigi Donnarumma's second Serie A appearance, following his debut in the previous match against Sassuolo. The game was thrilling, with both sides giving their all. After a powerful shot from Bonaventura narrowly missed the target, AC Milan took the lead on 25'. Bertolacci scored with a tap-in, converting a rebound from Marchetti after a save from Bacca .

The Rossoneri pressed on, and Cerci almost doubled the lead just before half-time with a left-footed shot from a tight angle that hit the inside of the post with the goalkeeper beaten. Mihajlović's team continued their strong performance at the start of the second half, despite an injury to Alex. The second goal for AC Milan came from Philippe Mexès , who replaced the injured Brazilian defender. He perfectly timed his run to meet Bonaventura’s cross, heading the ball past Marchetti. Lazio tried to respond, but Donnarumma kept out Lulić's effort. On 79' AC Milan sealed the game with a counter-attack. Bonaventura launched a pass to Bacca , who beat the goalkeeper and slotted the ball into an empty net for his sixth league goal of the season. Lazio's late goal from Kishna on 85' only affected the stats. AC Milan left the Olimpico with three valuable and deserved points.

Global sports company PUMA and AC Milan have today unveiled the Club’s Third kit for the 2024/25 season, showcasing a fresh take on the Club's iconic style that embodies the spirit of Milanismo.

AC Milan’s culture thrives on creativity and vibrant colors. The new Third kit brings fresh, new colors to the pitch, adding a whole new layer of meaning to the beautiful game. The unique new 24/25 Third kit features a shadow grey base color with a fresh mint collar and sleeves, with grape mist details on the collar – including a monochromatic version of the Club crest – to express the inherent Milanese style in a way that’s both new and distinctly Rossonero, even in the absence of Rosso or Nero. Welcome to Milan(ismo).

The 24/25 Third kit is available in both Authentic and Replica versions. The Authentic jersey, worn by the players, is crafted with PUMA’s ULTRAWEAVE fabric, designed to reduce weight and friction, ensuring elite-level performance. The Replica jersey offers the same striking design with a more relaxed fit, perfect for both game days and everyday wear. Both versions incorporate PUMA’s dryCELL sweat-wicking technology to keep fans and players dry and comfortable. 

Reflecting PUMA’s commitment to sustainability, the Replica jerseys are made using the RE:FIBRE initiative, utilizing recycled textile waste to create new materials without compromising quality. Containing at least 95% recycled textile waste and other used polyester materials, this initiative represents a significant step towards a more circular and sustainable production process for football jerseys.

Milan’s complete schedule for the summer – from Raduno to USA tour

Some AC Milan players are currently on vacation, while others are engaged with the national teams, but everyone will get some time to rest before the pre-season. In fact, the latter is scheduled to start on July 10. 

Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada are currently working to reinforce the squad on the market. So far, however, they have only worsened the team with the sale of Sandro Tonali and it remains to be seen what they will come up with.
