Wine Tours in Geneva

Finger Lakes Winery Tours invites you to pair your wine tour with our first-class services. We’re not just drivers, we’re experienced chauffeurs trained in the art of hospitality. What’s more, we’re intimately familiar with the region’s finest wines. Call us today at (315) 828-6289 to request our services!

Every Winery Tour Needs an Experienced Guide

If you’ve spent the last little while searching the Internet looking at companies who offer wine tours, you’ve probably noticed a few things. Some companies merely provide chauffeur services, meaning that they’ll drive you to the wineries of your choosing, but that’s it. You’ll have to select the stops, determine the route, and more.

Then, there are people who are knowledgeable about wines and the many vineyards throughout the beautiful Finger Lakes. Their vocabulary is vast and they’re brimming with exciting information about the area’s beloved vines. But are they able to comfortably accommodate a large group of your closest friends, family members, or colleagues? Probably not. At the most, they have a Sedan or a minivan.

That’s where we come in. We have vehicles capable of accommodating any sized group. Moreover, we are recognized wine aficionados and members of the United Motorcoach Association, the National Limousine Association, and the Transportation Safety Exchange, we’re the team for you.

A Taste of the Many Local Wineries in the Area

Experience the seneca lake wine trail like never before.

Nestled at the northern edge of Seneca Lake, Geneva is the perfect place to start a tour of the historic Seneca Lake Wine Trail. With Finger Lakes Winery Tours facilitating the experience, you can expect to have the time of your life.

Planning a wine tour on your own can be daunting. There are simply too many vineyards for any group to research and explore on their own. By booking our services, we’ll bring you to the best of the best throughout Geneva and around the beautiful Seneca Lake. With over 35 vineyards to visit, you’ll have your work cut out for you. But we’ll showcase the best vineyards most suited to your personal preferences.

On the Seneca Lake Wine Trail, the possibilities are endless. Fine wine, exquisite dining, and the most spectacular sights New York has to offer: All are within reach when you come on a wine tour. Let us take the reins, and experience the area like never before.

Three Wine Trails to Explore

The Seneca Lake Wine Trail is just one of the trails for which we offer tours. With Finger Lakes Winery Tours, you give you more to explore, more choice, and more ways to experience everything that the Finger Lakes has to offer.

Our three wine trails are:

The Seneca Lake Wine Trail

As the largest of the Finger Lakes and the closest to Geneva, Seneca Lake makes the ideal choice for first-time visitors and to locals alike. It offers stunning scenery, replete with panoramic vistas and lush landscape views. With over 35 vineyards to visit, the Senenca Lake Wine Trail is the largest of the Finger Lakes trails, and it is by far our most popular.

The Cayuga Lake Wine Trail

The easternmost and longest of the Finger Lakes, Cayuga Lake is in every respect an equal among peers, and it is just as worth visiting as its larger cousin, Seneca Lake. This long and winding lake offers a varied topography, which naturally lends itself to picture-perfect scenery shots. Cayuga Lake is also home to a thriving wine scene—with 16 superb wineries to visit—but without the hustle-and-bustle of Seneca Lake, the more popular destination. If you’re looking to beat the crowds, this is the choice for you.

The Keuka Lake Wine Trail

Keuka Lake is unique in many respects. It’s irregular, Y-shape makes it a natural outlier in the Finger Lakes district, and it’s far smaller than either Seneca Lake or Cayuga Lake. Yet despite its size, this lake boasts an exceptionally rich and diverse history as a winegrowing region, featuring some of the area’s oldest wineries still in operation today. Though steeped in history, Keuka Lake is no relic: It is at the forefront of the winemaking industry, with many highly innovative wineries dotting its coast. Sommeliers, nature lovers, and gourmands are all sure to enjoy the sensory experience that Keuka Lake has to offer.

Wine Tasting: We’ll Do the Driving, You Do the Drinking

When it comes to these sorts of outings, there is nothing worse than being left out of the fun. The big appeal of a wine tour is the wine itself, so if you have to be the designated driver you’re going to miss out on a lot.

With our services, you won’t have to worry about driving. You also won’t have to worry about planning your routes or keeping on schedule. We’ll take care of everything!

14-Person Wine Shuttles Perfect for Any Gathering

If you’re looking to have a true excursion, you need a vehicle who can handle the adventure. And our SUV Limousine’s name says it all: the Ford Excursion.

Capable of seating up to 14 passengers with total ease, the Excursion has wraparound white leather seating, champagne wells, and luxury-carpeted flooring. Every guest of yours will be comfortable and they’ll all be able to look out the windows at the rolling hills and vineyards as we go about our journey.

We also have beautiful Lincoln Town Cars for your more intimate gathers (2-4 passengers), and biodiesel-fueled SUVs with seating for 7.

Chauffeur Services That Rival the Vineyard Tour Itself

Some companies let the vineyards and trails speak for themselves. At Finger Lakes Winery Tours, we go the extra mile. Our knowledgeable guides and first-class accommodations make the journey from one winery to the next as wonderful as the vineyards themselves.

Take Your Wine Vineyard Tour to New Heights

A wine tour is best experienced in the company of others. What’s better is if someone from the company has an intimate knowledge of the terrain you’re traveling through. That’s where Finger Lakes Winery Tours comes in. Proud members of the United Motorcoach Association and committed to customer satisfaction, we are the wine aficionados you can trust. With a variety of packages and gift certificates to choose from, our Geneva wine tours will surely not disappoint. Call (315) 828-6289 today to request our services.

Geneva Wine Trails

Most visitors and newcomers are already aware of Finger Lakes’ most popular wineries and vineyards. There’s the Ravines Wine Cellars on Keuka Lake with its terroir-driven and expressive wines, the Sheldrake Point Winery with its one-of-a-kind estate wines, but is that all? Hardly.

There are over 30 other vineyards to be explored throughout Geneva, each one unique and brimming with delicious wines. And at Finger Lakes Winery Tours, our chauffeurs know more about these wineries than their civic addresses. Our team has a sommelier’s knowledge of Geneva’s native grapevines and the many European varieties grown along these rolling trails.

What’s more, our chauffeurs are members of the National Limousine Association, the Transportation Safety Exchange, and the United Motorcoach Association. With their licensing and certification, you’ll never have to worry that your tour guide is leading you astray.

To say we’re proud of our fleet is an understatement. Not only do we hold our automobiles to the highest environmental standards possible, but they vary from Navigator SUVs and Lincoln Town Cars, to 14-person shuttle vans and 26-person limo buses.

Our fleet includes:

  • Ford Excursion SUV: This “Green” biodiesel SUV comfortably seats up to 7 passengers and features a flip-down flat screen TV and stereo surround system.
  • Excursion SUV Limousine: To call this vehicle spacious doesn’t do it justice. Seating up to 14 people with ease, this limousine features wrap-around white leather sofa seating, built-in champagne wells, and carpeted flooring.
  • Old-Fashion Trolley: A favorite among Geneva visitors, the 1920 New Orleans-styled Trolley seats up to 28 people, has an authentic “Pull Stop” bell, panoramic windows, and breathtaking interior woodwork. For an authentic historical experience, there’s no better choice than the charm of a trolley!

Don’t see a vehicle that suits your needs? Call us and ask about our other available options. Whatever the occasion, we are more than confident we’ll be able to accommodate you and your guests.

The Best Wine Tours in Geneva

Are you looking for something to do with a few friends? Maybe it’s a special occasion like a bachelorette weekend, or maybe it is even your honeymoon weekend. There are a lot of group activities out there. There are epic and scenic hikes through the mountains of upstate New York, there are pub crawls and wild nights awaiting you in any major city, and there is more fine dining in the area than any refined person could handle.

But what about an activity that has a little of everything, with elegance and refinement to spare?

Finger Lakes Winery Tours has been providing wine tours through the Geneva area since 2001. This experience has allowed us to become more than familiar with the famous vineyards that surround the marvelous Seneca Lake. With a wine tour, you get the rolling vistas of grape-vines, sparkling lakes, and beautiful vineyards. It has the freshness and fulfillment of any outdoor adventure, but with that little something extra. It is also an activity that all your friends can enjoy together. Our diverse fleet of luxury cars, SUVs and limousines can accommodate groups of any size.

What other activity could blend the social ease of a group out on the town, the great outdoors, and life’s finer things?

Wine Tours All Along Seneca Lake With Finger Lakes Winery Tours

Our wine tours typically get started right at the top of the great Seneca Lake, which spans the 34-mile distance down to the beautiful village of Watkins Glen. Around Seneca Lake, there are over 35 wineries and vineyards, so there is no shortage of beautiful sights, relaxing stops, and delicious wines.

The wine is a huge appeal of a wine tour, but there is also the scenery to behold. Wine you can taste, purchase, and take home with you. The scenery, though? That stays in Geneva.

You want to be able to give those vistas the thoughtfulness and time they deserve. Would you be able to enjoy your tour if you were driving? Likely not. You’d be focused on the foreign roads ahead of you. You’d be pausing for directions instead of pausing for a gorgeous view.

If you book a wine tour with Finger Lakes Winery Tours, you don’t have to be the odd one out. Yourself and all the other guests can enjoy the experience equally.

Benefits of Booking a Wine Tour

Tasting the wine is one of the major appeals of a wine tour. Unfortunately, you can’t do that when you’re the designated driver. You’re burdened with the responsibility and perpetually preoccupied with everyone’s safety. If you book a guided wine tour with Finger Lakes Winery Tours however, you don’t have to worry about a thing.

Not only that, but we’re also intimately knowledgeable about the wineries throughout the Geneva area. We’re not just chauffeurs, we’re also your knowledgeable tour guides with a passion for wine and the Geneva countryside. Who better to lead you through the fields of Geneva than a team like us?

Preparing for Your Wine Tour

At Finger Lakes Winery Tours, we aim to provide our clients with a relaxing, easy, enjoyable experience that seems so lacking in many vacation packages. Following intense itineraries and travel schedules can make vacations nearly as stressful as day-by-day life.

Finger Lakes Winery Tours eliminates these stresses, so you can focus on the important things: taking in the magnificent landscape, sampling delicious wines, and enjoying the experience with loved ones.

We have compiled this list of things to be mindful of as you plan your exciting escape with Finger Lakes Wine Tours.

When is the Best Time to Take a Wine Tour?

The simple answer is anytime! The Finger Lakes region is spectacularly scenic in all seasons.

Peak travel season is generally summer and fall, but off-season (winter and spring) is actually likely to be an even more personal experience. As the wineries are not quite so busy, you’ll have a better chance to have one-on-ones with the growers and learn more about the processes and secrets of fine wine making.

Consider also the activities, besides of course wine sampling, that you might like to do in the region. Perhaps you’re a winter warrior who loves skiing and snowshoeing, or have a penchant for all things autumn.

Any time of year, Finger Lakes Winery Tours would be honored to welcome you.

How Should I Decide Which Wineries to Tour?

That depends entirely on your party’s tastes and preferences.

While the Finger Lakes region is home to a great number of exceptional wineries, it generally isn’t advised to visit more than three or four in a day. Trying to frequent more will not only feel rushed and defeat the purpose of a relaxing vacation, but ‘palate fatigue’ will make it more difficult to discern wine flavors.

A little research will help you find the wineries best suited to you. For instance, are you a red or white drinker? Sweet or dry? Fruit wine or ice wine?

Determining your party’s preferences will make it easier to find a winery specializing in your favorites.

As always, Finger Lakes Winery Tours is happy to advise.

What Touring Vehicles are Available?

Regardless of the size of your party, Finger Lakes Winery Tours has the perfect vehicle for your tour.

We boast an extensive fleet includes limos, SUVs, and touring coaches, right up to the full-size 56-passenger motor coach. Our fleet even features an old-fashioned trolley for a truly unique and nostalgic experience.

You’ll be pleased to note that we take environmental regulations very seriously. We measure the emissions of our “green fleet” and invest accordingly in green energy and projects.

We work hard to preserve and strengthen nature’s bounty.

Where Should I Stay?

There are a number of beautiful, charming options for accommodations in the Finger Lakes region. From intimate Bed & Breakfasts to more conventional hotels, the possibilities are numerous.

Finger Lakes Winery Tours will easily pick you up and drop you off at the location of your choice. No matter the accommodation experience you have in mind, you can be sure to find it here.

We have established relationships with many of the region’s finest accommodations and rentals. If you wish, we would be delighted to provide you with a recommendation.

I highlight recommend Finger Lakes Winery Tours - everything from the beginning of the process booking with Velevia to the end of the trip couldn't have been better. I received confirmations during the process and guidance as to the best timing of our visits to wineries / breweries. Our driver Paul was awesome - we changed times and locations during our trip and he made everything work. We couldn't have been more pleased with the service that was provided - they made a perfect weekend even more perfect for celebrating my daughter and son in laws recent wedding. We will definitely use them again.

We booked a limo and a shuttle for a Wedding in Geneva, NY The Limo driver had no idea where he was supposed to be and at what time. The shuttle driver was very nice, but she was not given my correct phone #, so she couldn't get a hold of me for the first 2 hours of the evening. At the end of the evening she was told to NOT make the last shuttle trip because it was 11:36---6 minutes past our slotted time. Fitzgerald Bros told her to not bring home the Bride and Groom and 22 other guests unless they were paid another $120. Earlier in the week, I was told we would be given a 30 minute grace period. The Sales Mgr was RUDE and inflexible, and would not refund the $120 I paid in cash---AFTER I pleaded with the driver to bring them back to the hotel. Will NEVER use this company again

Terrible from start to finish. Took a bus trip to NYC. Late going and even later getting home... NO ac, No working chargers on the entire right side of the bus, NO light in the bathroom, Bathroom door did not shut all the way, no working tvs as promised... Would never ever recommend !!!!!

Photo of Rita F.

NYC Bus tour. Driver was late arrival int he morning then late departure in the evening out of the city! it took over an hour to get out of Manhattan which was not his fault as it was a busy holiday weekend but I was confused with the rout to get out and then the driver took an alternate route to get us home at 1am that was all back roads of PA in FOG!!! The driving seemed erratic as the bus was speeding up then stopping quickly. We couldn't sleep with all the motion and the HEAT was on despite the driver kept saying it was not and the AIR was on. I would hate to be on that bus in the summer! Broken bathroom, no air, no reading lights working, weird smells, no DVD player, no ports working and the wi-fi was awful! Never again!

Photo of Brooke B.

Terrible experience!! My group of 10 had rented a shuttle van for a wine tour. Our driver was very unsafe and unpleasant. I think the most disappointing thing is trying to get in touch with the company after the incident, they were not responsive at all. Horrible customer service. I would not recommend.

Photo of Winston K.

We arranged for an SUV limo for a bachelorette wine tour. 30 minutes prior to arrival, we got a call indicating that we must pay the balance with cash or check, and that tips would only be accepted in cash. Luckily someone in our party had a spare check. Upon arrival, the driver asked for his tip before we even left. The limo we entered was filthy, old, and quite literally broken (we stalled twice). The AC was broken, there was trash left from the previous party, and the music didn't work. Our driver smoked between our winery stops, leaving a stench in the vehicle, which was especially uncomfortable for one of our passengers who was pregnant... Limos should add to the fun, but we could not wait to get out of this vehicle at every stop. I have attempted to contact the company twice, but they have failed to respond to my questions and concerns regarding safety and cleanliness. Do not book with this company.

We had an incredible winery tour experience! Ten of us enjoyed the wineries recommended by the company for our group and cannot say enough great things about our driver, Ethan. Thanks so much for a wonderful day!! We appreciated their advice to reserve our tastings in advance.

Photo of Axel H.

My family and friends wanted to go on a winery tour in the finger lakes area after doing the corning half marathon. We hadn't done anything like this before so were a little nervous, but the reservation person at the office planned out an itinerary for us and booked an appointment for us at each winery. We were surprised by how simple they made the process for us. On the day of, we had a stretch SUV limo come for our group of 5. At first it felt a little silly to have such a big vehicle, but after the first winery stop it was really nice to be able to stretch our legs out, recline, and having the bottled water available in the car was a helpful touch. The tour they planned out was well-thought out. The first stop was Pleasant Valley which was a historical wine production facility. they had a wide spectrum of different wines to sample (champagne, white and red varietals, port, sherry, sparkling rose) and an exhibit on the history of wine growing in the area. The second was Bully Hill, which had a cafe although we did not stop. The side-facing seats in the limo gave us a beautiful view over lake keuka as we went up the hill! The wineries got more sophisticated as we went on, the third stop was Dr Konstantin Frank and the last one was Heron Hill which is an ecological focused winery. It was a good progression of wineries in the order they picked out for us. Throughout the trip our driver William was safe and attentive. I was a limo skeptic at first, but it was really nice to have the couch-style seating to sit around living-room style was great. I recommend going on a limo winery tour for anyone who hasn't done it before!

Photo of Kelly G.

We had a great time with our driver Eddy! He was our personal photographer throughout the day and just overall a nice and friendly guy. He arrived on-time (15 minutes early, actually!) and helped us stay on track during our full day of tours around Keuka. Karen and Carol (I think I'm getting their names right) we're also very helpful and responsive upon booking and leading up to our trip. I was a little skeptical at first seeing some of the negative reviews but I would highly recommend! Thank you to Fitz bro's and to Eddy for helping make our girls getaway awesome!

Booked with this company as they were recommended by Fingerlakes Premier Properties. We book our tour for five people which included a toddler in a car seat, so we were on a set schedule. They were aware of this 11am-5pm schedule. We had multiple email conversations back and forth regarding our stops and what not. We paid the full balance in advance to make it easier and we were charged a 3.5% up charge for paying in advance. We found this ridiculous but whatever. The morning of we were all ready and no show. At 11:19am I called the company and it kept going to a message where I couldn't leave a message. I kept calling back and finally on the fourth call a man picked up. I felt like I woke him up. I told him that our driver was late. He got a little smart with me until he realized it was 11:19am not 10:19am. I found this hilarious and it definitely meant I woke him up. He tells me that he will contact the driver and call me right back. At 11:30am he still didn't call me back while I had an annoyed toddler who was wondering why he was strapped in a stroller without moving for more than 30 minutes!! My husband called the company at 11:30am. The guy proceeded to tell my husband that our driver was "delayed" and that they were in the process of finding us a new driver. Knowing we were on a set schedule with a toddler this obviously wouldn't work for us. So my husband said WE were cancelling and that we wanted a full refund. He said "not a problem". We were bummed cause we had been looking forward to and planning a wine tour for months. I wound up driving and being the designated driver. We had a great time but I really wanted to taste the finger lake wines since we live five driving hours away. The next day the refund was in process. We really hoped that the company would've reached out to us by phone to apologize or explain what happened. I definitely wouldn't have rated them one star if they had. Terrible customer service and company!!

  • Is Cornell Botanic Gardens free? Yes, there is no admission cost. However, the most convenient parking is paid.

Hike The Finger Lakes Trail

One of the best things to do in the Finger Lakes region is to head outdoors. For the uninitiated, the Finger Lakes Trail is a massive footpath that runs over 1,000 miles all through some of the most scenic areas of New York. It trails through various attractions, including Niagara Falls, the Catskills, and the Syracuse region.

  • Walk a short portion or take a longer hike along the Finger Lakes Trail; an official Finger Lakes Trail website offers up maps, trail conditions, special sights to see, and more.
  • Fall is an excellent time to explore the trail's scenic offerings .

The trail is also called the North Country National Scenic Trail around the Pennsylvania border to Onondaga Branch Trail.

Buttermilk Falls State Park

Another way to enjoy the outdoors while in the Finger Lakes is heading over to Buttermilk Falls State Park in Tompkins County, New York. Here, visitors to the area can enjoy a foaming cascade formed by Buttermilk Creek and walk-through trails nearby.

Additionally, Buttermilk Falls State Park is an 811-acre state park located southwest of Ithaca, close to many of the other waterfalls and parks mentioned on this list. Luckily, the Upper New York area is closely connected, meaning less of a drive for tourists wanting to experience everything.

Your insider guide to the Finger Lakes with the best things to do in the Finger Lakes

August 6, 2018 by Karen Turner Leave a Comment

I’m always shocked when I hear of East Coast residents who’ve never visited the Finger Lakes. There’s obviously more buzz surrounding the big apple than Upstate New York, but let’s be real.

There’s so much to do in the Finger Lakes region, and you’re missing out big time if you don’t explore it. Check out these best things to do in the Finger Lakes, and prepare yourself for a full guide to the Finger Lakes region ready at your service. The only question that you’ll have left at the end is, “So, when are we going?”

Why visit the Finger Lakes

Buttermilk Falls, one of the best things to do in the Finger Lakes. This region of New York is famous for wine!

If you haven’t ever experienced the Finger Lakes, or if you’ve never heard much about the area, you might not truly understand the wonder of this region. If you live in a big city though, you’ll immediately notice the slower pace of the Finger Lakes region. You’ll find yourself immersed in nature and awestruck by the beauty of each and every place you visit.

There’s an abundance of open fields, beautiful waterfronts, and family farms to admire and enjoy. Not to mention, the Finger Lakes region is extremely well known for its great food and wine. If that doesn’t draw you in, I’m not sure what will.

Where to stay in the Finger Lakes

For something special and romantic, consider staying at the Belhurst Castle along Geneva Lake, one of the lesser known lakes in the region. This 1880s stone castle is widely considered one of the most romantic places to stay in the Finger Lakes.  My parents stayed here and loved it.

If you prefer not to drive, it’s easy to avoid driving much by  staying in Ithaca and take a wine tour out to the nearby Finger Lakes.  Ithaca is a very walkable town with lots of great food and good public transit, perfect for a weekend relaxing in the Finger Lakes. (Keep reading for where to eat!) You can stay on the grounds of Cornell at its hotel school’s 5* hotel or at a reasonable hotel in town .

The best things to do in the Finger Lakes

Art and culture.

One of my favorite things to do in this region is visit the local museums. The Finger Lakes is known for wonderful arts and entertainment, so make sure you take advantage of this.

A few of my favorite museums include the Genesee Country Museum, the George Eastman House, and Artisan Works. The Genesee Country Museum is a charming historical village, which I’ve been going to since I was a kid. I’d highly recommend this if you’re a history lover like me!

The George Eastman house in Rochester, one of the beautiful mansions in the Finger Lakes region. #travel #rochester #NY

The George Eastman house is really neat too, obviously because of who George Eastman was, but also because it takes you to downtown Rochester. Artisan Works is also located in Rochester, and it’s a phenomenal, eclectic collection of art and random things that is bound to entertain even people who generally dislike visiting museums.

Another thing to experience is of course the music here in the Finger Lakes. Rochester, NY is home to the world renowned Eastman School of Music. There’s concerts going on there all the time, and it’s a great way to soak in the local culture and art.

Ithaca, NY is also home to Ithaca College, which boasts a wonderful, internationally recognized music program. Grab a seat at one of the many Ithaca College performances, or check out a show at the Hangar Theatre for a real treat.

Editor Wanderlustingk also recommends taking a tour of Cornell’s stunning campus. Cornell’s campus is absolutely beautiful with gorges hidden within the grounds and leafy campus that is beautiful in fall.

Gorges, falls, and hiking

One of the best things to do in the Finger Lakes is to enjoy the outdoors. There’s dozens of great hiking trails in this region, and you absolutely must explore the gorges in Ithaca. (….They’re gorgeous .)

Taughannock Falls, one of the most beautiful parks in the Finger Lakes and where to go hiking around Ithaca, NY. #travel #NewYorkState #Finger Lakes #USA

Some of my favorite waterfalls include Taughannock Falls and Buttermilk Falls. Find a swimming hole too while you’re in town, as this is a classic Ithaca activity you won’t want to miss out on!

You of course also want to spend time on the actual lakes while you’re here too, so don’t forget to get out on the water. Rent a kayak, paddle board, etc., and get ready for a wonderful, active afternoon on one of our awesome lakes.

The best restaurants in the Finger Lakes

The Finger Lakes region is home to some pretty amazing local breakfast spots. One of the best restaurants in the Finger Lakes, or at least my personal favorite, is Simply Crepes. There’s a few different locations, but the one in Canandaigua makes sense for this guide since you can hit up Canandaigua Lake while you’re there, too. There’s only one bad thing about this eatery — it’s almost impossible to choose between the delicious sweet fruit crepes and the savory selections! They’re both mouth-watering good.

If you’re looking for a casual breakfast, try Ithaca Bakery or Collegetown bagels. Waffle Frolic is another great choice if you’re in Ithaca. After all, who can pass up a waffle bar? Other favorites include Village Bakery, The Owl House, and Steve’s Diner.

Believe it or not, several of the above restaurants above also serve pretty mean lunch selections. Collegetown Bagels was my go-to during college for the perfect quick sandwich. There’s so many options, you’re bound to find something you like.

Aladdin’s Natural Eatery is also great for mediterranean food, and Ithaca Beer Co. is a always a solid option. Magnolia’s is another tasty choice if you want to get away from the countryside for a minute and explore downtown Rochester. It’s especially a neat trip, as President Obama actually at here once when he visited town…there’s even a sandwich named after him!

Hands down, my favorite dinner spot in the Finger Lakes is the John Thomas Steakhouse in Ithaca. I discovered this place in college, and it has haunted me (in the best way possible) ever since. Though this is definitely not a budget friendly option, the food is some of the best I’ve ever eaten and it’s absolutely worth it if you’re in the market for a fancier meal.

Other great dinner spots include The Ale House for burgers, and Mahogany Grill, Tony D’s, Zaza’s, and Mr. Dominic’s on Main for Italian.

The best wineries in the Finger Lakes

Beautiful view near Glenora Winery along Seneca Lake, one of the wine trails in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. #wine #NY #travel #fingerlakes

The Finger Lakes is known for its many wonderful wineries. As always, the editors at Wanderlustingk remind you to use caution in avoiding drinking and driving by ensuring that there is a designated driver!

Of the Finger Lakes wineries I’ve visited, I’ve never been so impressed as I was at Three Brothers Winery. All I need to say is this…get the wine slushie! You won’t regret it a bit. Other great options include Ventosa, Fox Run Vineyards, Zugibe Vineyards, and Casa Larga.

I’d also recommend taking an actual wine tour while you’re in the area! There’s no better way to really experience all that the Finger Lakes has to offer in terms of wineries as you don’t need to worry about driving!

Check out more of the best wineries in the Finger Lakes in this post on the Seneca Lake wine trail.

Editor Karen’s opinion about the best Finger Lakes wineries

Dr. Konstantin Frank's winery, one of the best wineries in the Finger Lakes that you must visit! #travel #wine #newyork #fingerlakes

One of my favorite regions of New York State is the Finger Lakes. I’ve visited in many seasons, however there is no more stunning season than fall when all the leaves are turning.   One of the hardest decisions is choosing  which lake. I’ve visited Keuka as well as Seneca Lake, which provide different experiences.

Hammondsport is perfect for a cozier weekend doing wine tastings in the cute town, however I usually visit Keuka lake for Heron Hill as well as Dr. Konstantin Frank’s winery.  Konstantin Frank, who earned a Ph.D from Cornell, is part of the reason why the Finger Lakes wine region exists as he experimented until he found European grape plants capable of surviving the winters.  Their ancient series is my favorite!

Food at F.L.X. Wienery, one of the best places to eat along Seneca Lake in the Finger Lakes region.

Along Seneca Lake, you’ll find more  fun wineries although I especially enjoy the wine of Hermann J. Wiemer Winery, one of the best rated riesling producers in the area.   For a snack, stop off at F.L.X. Wienery for locally sourced food with wine (of course).  Glenora is also a classic stop-off!
