Would you pay $300 to meet Ben Shapiro?

The conservative pundit and others will take the stage at a legendary nashville venue next month. tickets, however, aren’t cheap.

Upcoming performances at the legendary Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee, include the Gatlin Brothers, Clint Black and the Indigo Girls — and Ben Shapiro.

One of these things is not like the others.

The usual performers at the Ryman are world-famous musicians. Shapiro is a conservative pundit, podcaster and author.

But the Daily Wire, the company that Shapiro co-owns, is betting that people will pay upward of $77 to watch lively banter between Shapiro and other conservative media personalities, and that others will pay more than $300 to meet them.

The Oct. 12 event is called “Backstage Live at the Ryman” and it’s a live version of a regular roundtable discussion between Shapiro and his Daily Wire colleagues. The lineup at the Oct. 12 event in Nashville will also feature Matt Walsh, Michael Knowles, Candace Owens, Andrew Klavan and Jeremy Boreing.

It’s unknown if Shapiro and company can rock the house like singer Boz Scaggs, who performs at the Ryman the night before, but it’s a bold move by a conservative media company that previously announced its intention to expand into entertainment.

Earlier this year, Boreing, the Daily Wire’s CEO and co-founder, told Axios that there’s a need for entertainment for conservatives that is made by people who respect their values. A previous Daily Wire Backstage Event, staged virtually in January, attracted more than 300,000 viewers, Axios reported. That event featured the debut of a film, an action thriller about a high school student who takes on four shooters.

And the company is working with Gina Carano , formerly of the Disney+ show “The Mandalorian,” on a movie that’s been called a “ revenge thriller ” and will begin filming in October in Utah, Tennessee and Montana.

In announcing the expansion into entertainment, Shapiro said that while conservatives will occasionally engage in a skirmish of the culture war, they largely live within the same culture of the left. When it comes to entertainment, that leaves them the choice of tuning out altogether or finding alternatives, he wrote.

“The problem is that Republicans won’t win anybody over by simply disengaging. We need those who aren’t political to engage with a different sort of content: content that is edgy and entertaining and awesome, but that doesn’t actively work to undermine the very values that have made this country exceptional. We need to give people options.”

In branching out into entertainment like Carano’s new film project, Shapiro said the Daily Wire will produce content “that won’t mock your values.”

“Now it’s time to fight back in the culture — it’s time to blow up the Death Star that is the left-wing monopoly on entertainment, and to provide a replacement for your dollars, so that you’re not paying the people who want to see your values disappear,” he wrote.

It’s unclear if the Daily Wire team will take their show on the road. (The company recently moved from Los Angeles to Nashville.) By the end of Friday, the first day of ticket sales, the company tweeted that “a small amount” of tickets remained.

The Daily Wire Brings ‘Backstage Live’ Event to Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium

The Daily Wire’ s Backstage Live event took place in Nashville on Tuesday, October 12, in front of a sold-out crowd at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. Joining The Daily Wire ‘s Ben Shapiro were Candace Owens , Jeremy Boreing, Michael Knowles, Matt Walsh, and Andrew Klavan, discussing politics, Presidents, the coronavirus pandemic, current events and more.

“People in New York are still terrified. They check your vaccination card in restaurants,” Klavan said of the current vaccination policy in the state. “I landed here in Nashville, and when I walked out I said to myself ‘Thank God I am in the free state of Tennessee.’”

During the Backstage Live show, the news was announced that comedian Adam Carolla is launching a new comedy show on The Daily Wire platform, with comedy legend Jay Leno as his first guest. The series joins The Michael Knowles Show , The Matt Walsh Show , Candace and Daily Wire Backstage , as well as The Ben Shapiro Show , which are already part of the platform.

“We’re going to call it a ‘truth gallery’ because I tend to get fired up on stage by my comedian friends… I go out and do my 10 minutes of stand-up at the start,” Carolla said (via The Post Millenial ), adding that the show would include a brief interview of each night’s guest.

“And at some point, we’ll pull balls out of the hopper,” he continued. “Before the show, everyone writes one word down on a ball, just a single word on a ball. It’ll go into a hopper and a be like lotto. And the guest will pull the ball, read the word, and I’ll do an improvised stand-up set on that one word with an assist (from the guest).”

Also during Backstage Live, the news was announced that a new film, Shut In , will be released, also on The Daily Wire platform. The movie was filmed in Nashville and nearby Watertown, Tennessee. Harris and Walz embark on a bus tour in Pennsylvania before the Democratic convention in Chicago

Washington, Aug 18 (AP) Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris and running mate Tim Walz embarked on a bus tour in southwestern Pennsylvania on Sunday, hoping to ride a wave of enthusiasm for her candidacy to their party's nominating convention in Chicago this week.      Vice President Harris and Walz, the governor of Minnesota, were joined by their spouses, Doug Emhoff and Gwen Walz, as they arrived at Pittsburgh International Airport and greeted supporters. They will make stops in the Pittsburgh area to glad-hand with voters.      Harris and Emhoff were scheduled to deliver remarks at an event in the borough of Rochester, in Beaver County, which Donald Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, won in 2020. The stop came exactly four weeks after President Joe Biden Biden dropped his reelection bid and endorsed Harris to replace him on the ticket.      Southwestern Pennsylvania is a critical part of a key battleground state that has long commanded the attention of presidential candidates. The state voted for Trump in 2016 and for Biden in 2020. Both Harris and Trump are vying to see who can put Pennsylvania in their column on November 5.      Most polls, including the New York Times/Siena College poll and Fox News, find Harris and Trump locked in a tight race statewide.      Trump held a rally Saturday in Wilkes-Barre in the northeastern part of the state, following his earlier rallies in July in Harrisburg and Butler, where he survived an assassination attempt.      The bus tour marks Harris' eighth trip to Pennsylvania this year, and her second this month. The vice president's August 6 announcement that Walz would be her running mate came hours before their first joint appearance as a ticket later that day in Philadelphia.      “This is a state that traditionally has been super important, but southwestern Pennsylvania has been really kind of the battleground part of the battleground state,” said Kristin Kanthak, associate professor of political science at the University of Pittsburgh.      Allegheny County, which includes Pittsburgh, is a diverse county with urban, suburban and rural areas, and a lot of people who haven't decided how they will vote, she said.      “It makes sense to come here and ask for votes because there are votes up for grabs here,” Kanthak said of Harris. “It's not just about turning out your base. It's about having an opportunity to speak to truly undecided voters.”      In the 2020 race, Biden won Allegheny County with 60 per cent of the vote, while Trump won neighbouring Beaver County, which includes Rochester, with about 58 per cent of the vote.      After Trump's surprise win in the state in 2016, Biden flipped Pennsylvania in 2020 — and, in so doing, won the White House — in part by running up his vote totals in heavily Democratic Pittsburgh, the state's second-largest city and the county seat of Allegheny County.      Biden assiduously courted the area's blue-collar labour unions, kicking off his 2020 presidential campaign at a Teamsters hall in Pittsburgh by declaring, “I am a union man.” As president, he opposed the acquisition of Pittsburgh's storied US Steel by a Japanese company, saying it “should remain totally American,” and enacted steeper tariffs on Chinese steel.      Trump, who is counting on strong turnout from his base of white, working-class voters, is not conceding the area. The counties around Pittsburgh have shifted from Democrat to Republican in recent presidential contests, delivering for Trump in both of his earlier runs.      Trump has also embraced protectionist trade policies and insists he is pro-worker. His vow to increase US energy production and “drill, baby, drill” has resonated in southwestern Pennsylvania blue-collar counties like Washington, where a natural gas drilling boom has helped make Pennsylvania the nation's No. 2 producer after Texas. Harris once wanted to ban fracking, an oil and gas extraction process, before recently disavowing her earlier position.      Dana Brown, director of Chatham University's Pennsylvania Center for Women & Politics, said in an interview that Harris will use the bus trip to reach out to voters in the state's southwestern region “while she still has a great deal of momentum at her back" and spin up local media coverage.      “She is going to garner a lot of that free media attention,” Brown said. “I believe their hope, right, is to keep that momentum up and focused on her and less so on her opponent.”      Bus tours have become a staple of political campaigns partly because of the free media coverage they generate. Such trips get the candidates out of their power suits and out of Washington so they can travel the country and score face time with voters in small venues like diners and mom-and-pop shops.      Biden rolled across Iowa on an eight-day bus tour he dubbed “No Malarkey" in December 2019.      During his 2012 reelection campaign, President Barack Obama travelled though small-town Ohio on his “Betting on America” bus tour.      “It's always fun just being out of Washington, and for me to be able to interact with folks is wonderful,” Obama said at one stop.      Presidents George W. T he 2024 FedExCup Playoffs officially begin this week with the 1st of 3 events that will decide the season-long champion. It starts with the 2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tenn. The  field is limited to just the top 70 players in the FedExCup standings, which are led by Scottie Scheffler .

Below, we look at BetMGM Sportsbook's 2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions .

After winning gold in Paris at the Olympics, Scheffler returns to the states for the start of the playoffs. He's joined by Xander Schauffele , Rory McIlroy and Collin Morikawa , all of whom are teeing it up this week in Memphis. The final player to make it into the field is Victor Perez , who ranks 70th in the FedExCup standings.

TPC Southwind is a difficult course that features water hazards spread throughout the 18 holes. It's only a par 70, with 2 par-5s on the scorecard, so scoring opportunities are more limited than usual. At 7,243 yards, it's not one of the longer courses on tour and requires players to be accurate off the tee in order to position themselves for approaches into the Bermuda greens. The winning score in each of the last 5 years has been between 13-under and 16-under par.

Rory McIlroy (+900)

It was another major-less year for McIlroy, but he's one of the most trustworthy players when it comes to the playoffs. In this event alone, he's had finishes of 4th, 12th and 3rd in the last 5 years, showing a prowess for navigating TPC Southwind. With his high ball flight and mid-iron game, he's a perfect fit for this course.

Ludvig Aberg (+1600)

Aberg can win anywhere and though his 18th-place finish in the Olympics was slightly disappointing, he's still had a terrific year. He's one of the best mid-to-long-iron players in the world already, which is a shot Southwind demands of players. He should have success in his debut here.

Hideki Matsuyama (+2500)

Matsuyama finished on the podium at the Olympics, earning a bronze medal after finishing just 2 shots behind Scheffler for gold. He's had a lot of success at TPC Southwind in the past, finishing 2nd in 2021 and 16th just last year. With his short game, which is the best on tour right now, he'll be able to save par from everywhere when he does miss the green.

FedEx St. Jude Championship picks – Contenders

Sungjae im (+4000).

Im faded on the weekend at the Wyndham Championship, but he now comes to a course that fits his game well. He finished 6th here last year after coming in 2nd the year prior, nearly winning this tournament in each of the last 2 seasons.

Sahith Theegala (+4500)

Theegala missed the cut at the Open Championship, but the week prior he finished 4th in Scotland and a week after the Open, he came in 6th at the 3M Open. Long story short: he's playing well. He's only played this event twice and finished 13th both times (2022-23). As a mid-tier option, he's a great target.

FedEx St. Jude Championship picks – Long shots

Cam davis (+9000).

After opening with a 69 last week in North Carolina, Davis struggled in Round 2 with a 3-over 73. He'll move on from that and get back on track at TPC Southwind where he's finished 6th and 13th in the last 2 years.

Taylor Moore (+10000)

Moore deserves a look as a real long shot this week. He came in 31st in his tournament debut in 2022 before finishing 5th last year. And while his recent record may not blow anyone away, he does have 2 top-12s in his last 5 starts.
