Why Slaughter to Prevail’s Alex Terrible Moved to Florida

Slaughter to Prevail vocalist Alex Terrible has revealed why he moved to the United States — specifically Florida — and left his native Russia in a new video on his YouTube channel .

Terrible now lives in Florida, which is where he and the deathcore band moved in 2022 after a protracted process complicated by that year's Russian invasion of Ukraine , which Alex maintains he is against.

But he's glad that Slaughter to Prevail relocated to the U.S. — "I finally found that place that feels like fuckin' home," the rocker says.

See the video further down this post. Loudwire has transcribed portions of it, edited for clarity, below.

Why Alex Terrible Moved to U.S.

"When I lived in Russia, I was looking for a perfect spot," Alex explains. "I was traveling a lot in Russia, and I tried to live in Sochi, [Russia], because it's warm; it has mountains. It has better roads. I'm a car guy; I love cars. For me, it's important to have those fuckin' perfect roads near the area where I live."

He continues, "So I moved to Sochi [and] lived there for a few months. Then, I changed my mind [and returned] to my hometown, Yekaterinburg. Then I tried to move to St. Petersburg. I lived there for a bit but didn't like it. Then I moved to Moscow. I tried to live in Moscow. I kind of love that city. It's a busy city — good infrastructure. Like perfect, perfect. But it's just not mine."

It was then that Alex made his bid for the U.S. "I decided to get my tourist [travel] visa to America," he says, "and maybe try to move to Florida and see what happens. Because back in the day when we toured with Bodysnatcher , we had this stop between the shows … in Melbourne, Florida, and I fuckin' love that city. I love the state. I fell in love immediately. … And I started this visa process … and I got my passport exactly the day the war started like, Feb. 22, 2022. Like, exactly that day."

The Russian invasion, an escalation of the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian War, prevented the vocalist from traveling for a few months. At that time, he got stuck in Poland, where he was getting his visa.

"I was like, fuck, what am I going to do now?" he recalls. "I could not go back to Russia from Poland, and I was in shock [about the war]. Because before that, everybody started to ask me what I thought about this conflict. Is the war going to happen or not? I was like, What the fuck are you talking about? The war will never happen. Ukrainians are our brothers. It will never happen. And then it happened."

Ultimately, however, he and Slaughter to Prevail did arrive in the U.S., and they are all the happier for it.

Slaughter to Prevail in America

In the end, Alex says he decided to go to America to "keep my career [going successfully] with the music and stuff. And a lot of people — a lot of Russians — tried to blame me like, Oh, you're escaping the war, but you go to 'innocent' America. I'm not fucking stupid, you know? Of course, I understand that America is not fuckin' innocent. And America is fuckin' a bad guy, you know?"

He adds, "I moved to America not just to escape the war. I moved to America because I wanted a better life for myself and my family and my future children. And for my music career. Because I believe this is very important for my career — to be here in America. Because we have so many opportunities just here. And just for the year we've stayed here, we've [grown] so fuckin' fast. So, basically, that's what happened."

In a subsequent comment under the video, the vocalist summarizes, "long story short. i sold my ass to America and left Russia but i still love Russia. Have a nice day."

Ronnie Radke With Alex Terrible & Tech N9ne

Falling In Reverse Debut “Ronald” Video With Tech N9ne & Alex Terrible, Announce New Album & Summer Tour

Now months into his disappearance from social media , Ronnie Radke , the controversial vocalist for the multi-platinum alternative metal band Falling In Reverse , has announced a July 26th release date for a new album from his band.

That record is titled “ Popular Monster ” and is being newly preceded by the track, “ Ronald “. Some guests were recruited for this just released cut, including multi-platinum rapper Tech N9ne , and Alex Terrible , vocalist of Russian deathcore band Slaughter To Prevail . Radke previously stepped up for Terrible last summer when Terrible found himself facing backlash from the LGBTQ community in response to his divisive comments.

In addition to “ Ronald “, this forthcoming new album will feature several of Falling In Reverse ‘s past hit singles, including the 2x multi-platinum title track, as well as the gold-certified “ Voices In My Head “, “ Watch The World Burn ” and “ Zombified “. Radke also welcomed his significant other, AEW wrestler Saraya-Jade Bevis , on the song “ Bad Guy “. “ Popular Monster ” was co-produced by Radke and Tyler Smyth ( I Prevail , Lights ).

An elaborate music video for “ Ronald ” has just premiered online, with the services of director Jensen Noen ( Motionless In White , Black Veil Brides ) once again being utilized. In a bold move, the cover for this album/single features the booking photo of Radke taken from his 2012 domestic assault arrest of his then girlfriend. That charge would ultimately be dropped, with Radke pleading no contest to a charge of disturbing the peace in relation to the incident.

Outside of the album, Falling In Reverse have shared the dates for their ‘ The Popular MonsTOUR II: World Domination ‘. The supporting artists on that run include Black Veil Brides , Dance Gavin Dance and Tech N9ne . Select stops will also find Jeris Johnson and Nathan James appearing.

Citi and artist presales for that trek are launching today, May 07th. The general onsale will go down this Friday, May 10th at 10:00am local time. Further world touring from Falling In Reverse is currently being mapped out.

“ Popular Monster ” track listing:

Interview with Alex Terrible of Slaughter to Prevail

The Beast of Russia

An interview with alex terrible of slaughter to prevail.

Slaughter to Prevail - Alex Terrible

It seems that Deathcore has become a bit of a competition among bands to see who is the biggest, the baddest, the meanest, and most brutal band to rule them all. There is a new and worthy contender to that throne, Slaughter to Prevail . Hailing from Russia, this band has been receiving a ton of accolades since its inception. What’s a deathcore band without a badass vocalist, let me introduce Alex Terrible . Alex Terrible has a vocal styling that most entry level bands are seeking to copy, and with his online vocal lessons you possibly could. Outside of Slaughter to Prevail, he is also figurehead behind The Russian Hate Project , a group of gym enthusiast musicians that play extreme metal. I got to speak with Alex, while he was on tour supporting Summer Slaughter , about how it feels to play in America, and what’s possibly next for the band.

GA: How is tour going, how is Summer Slaughter treating you?

Alex: It’s fucking sick! I am really happy because this so much different than playing in Russia. In Russian, we don’t have the production like this tour does, with the stages and all the people that come out, but we are going to try to build that up. It’s like the United States is ahead by like twenty or thirty years, I really like it.

GA: So this is like next level for you guys to be here. So how did you get in with Sumerian Records? How did that come about?

Alex: I’m really happy because I couldn’t imagine it at the time.  Slaughter to Prevail was around playing for two years and we got signed with Sumerian Records . This is a fucking big label to be a part of for us. I really appreciate everyone, my fans for all their support. I fucking love it.

GA: I saw online that you began teaching vocal lessons through your YouTube channel, how did this come about?

Alex: Back home, I have no job and I must make a living for myself. In Russia it’s a bad situation for employment at the moment, and I was thinking how I could make some money. A few of my friends said to me “Why don’t we start doing vocal lessons”, and I accepted their offer. I love it because so many people have messaged me saying, “This is fucking crazy. I watched your covers and I want to do vocals like you do.” So I am happy to do these videos for these guys.

GA: What bands were your inspiration for the vocal style you do in Slaughter to Prevail?

Alex: Suicide Silence, Bring Me the Horizon, Carnifex …. These bands on Summer Slaughter, this music, I grew up with this music. For me this is huge to be able to play with these guys. The bands here have told me, “You are fucking sick, you guys are fucking heavy”, and I can’t believe that when I was fifteen years old I wanted this, and now I fucking get it. This is a fucking dream, dreams come true.

Slaughter to Prevail - Alex Terrible Photo by Andrew Bastion

GA: So what’s next for Slaughter to Prevail?

Alex: The band has a new album that might be released come December. After that we hope that we can grab another big tour package to get on like Summer Slaughter. We want to be able to play in America every time something big comes up, because I love playing in America. Our European and Russian tours are awesome and I love all our fans there, but America seems to be next level for heavy metal music. It’s a big culture here in the US.

GA: Anything else you would like to add?

Alex: I love our fans, and I love what I get to do every night for all them. I love this scene and this is it for all of us, to be here.

I want to thank you Alex for speaking to me, especially after just preforming a set. I wish you and the band safe travels across the United States and back home to Russia. I can’t wait to see what is in store for Slaughter to Prevail in the future. You can catch Alex and the band on Summer Slaughter, also check them out on YouTube for they have an array of music videos. Slaughter to Prevail’s album Chapters of Misery is also available for streaming through Spotify, I recommend you check them out.

Interview with Michael Ranne of Leylines, Through the Eyes of the Dead

alex terrible tour

The modern age metal drummer is a different breed. Good drummers are in high demand, so much so that many balance several projects at one time. One such gifted drummer is Mike Ranne, a seasoned veteran of the death metal and deathcore scene having performed with Through the Eyes of the Dead, My Bitter End, Circuit of Suns, Coma Cluster Void, Proceed on Your Way to Oblivion, and Leylines as well as contributing sessions to many other projects. To aid in keeping up with the recording duties for these projects Mike partnered with Mike Monocker to open Backyard Boogie Recordings a few years ago, which he owns and operates. I sat down with Mike to learn more about his vast projects and his newest one, Leylines.

GA: From My Bitter End, to Through the Eyes of the Dead, on to Circuits of Sun, Coma Cluster Void, and Proceed on Your Way to Oblivion, and now  Leylines  you have been a very active drummer in the metal community with many projects. Are there any projects I am leaving out, or that you’d like to touch upon more?

MR : I recorded an album about a year ago with some of the guys from Aronious, and with Kyle of Aethereus, a lot of bands that start with the letter A. We are calling that band Aeonoesis. There is still some stuff that is left to do on the album, some vocals and stuff. With this album I’m looking forward to getting to officially announce that project soon. I’m not sure what the plan is, I haven’t talked to those guys in a while. I do know the drums I tracked for that album are really cool, so hopefully it will come out soon. There is one song released so far and there is a Facebook page as well.  Its dissonant death metal type stuff which I think you’ll dig.

GA: You are here tonight performing with  Leylines  that’s on tour with Born A New and Crystal Lake. How did you get involved with the guys from  Leylines ?

MR : A couple years ago I was going to do a project and I had written a few songs myself before anything else. That project didn’t end up materializing into anything and I had these tracks,so I made a post asking if anyone wanted to take a stab at writing guitars for these tracks, to go ahead. Jesse hit me up and I sent him the tracks, thinking he would hit me up in a month or two later. He hit me up like twenty-three hours later with both songs written, and I listened to them and was like ‘God, I guess I have another band.’ The band is only a year and a half old now. We have sixteen songs written. A six song EP that we are going to drop through Silent Pendulum. Then we have a ten-song full length, that has the drums tracked already, but there is still a lot of work left for the guitars and everyone. Jonathan is still working on the writing on his end. The songs are fleshed out,and I think are way cooler than the EP stuff which is what we are playing tonight.

That’s how the band came to be. Jonathan and I share a hobby of RC cars, building them and stuff. I just asked him if he would ever want to do a music project sometime, and when I sent him the Leylines stuff he was into it. Our bassist is Dan, who plays in Pathogenic, is filling in for us tonight but picked up the material super quick. He has been awesome to play shows and practice with.

GA : Man, drummers these days, if you aren’t in three to four projects you aren’t doing it right, I guess.

MR:  I’m at home most of the time, a lot of my projects are studio based. Through the Eyes of the Dead plays sporadically these days, we have been playing four to five shows a year. Last year was the first tour we’ve done in years. We keep going even if it’s not as much.

GA: After all these years of drumming what keeps you motivated and playing?

MR : I just like playing. I still love playing drums, and I’m still able physically do it I might as well do it. I still enjoy creating music all the time.

GA: You built a studio a few years ago, do you still have it and how is the studio doing these days?

MR : I still have it, lately we haven’t recorded anything outside of my own stuff, because I have been busy with session work. We do occasionally get guys to come and use our space. It has been super beneficial for me personally, I used to dump thousands into going to studios which I don’t have to do anymore. Mike Monocker is my partner with the studio, he engineers everything while I’m more of an owner of the place and play the drums. The studio is called Backyard Boogie Recordings out of Phillipsport, Ny.

GA: What gear are you using for your live  rig  and what’s your home recording set up like? I am constantly watching your clips from the studio and the drums are always on point.

MR : It’s the same kit I am using tonight, I also use at home. I have a lot of kits at home, but this black Pearl kit I use for pretty much everything. I’m using it live tonight, and it’s my kit when filming at home and tracking all my sessions. I use a Mapex Sledgehammer for my snare. I have been using it lately and it’s a firecracker, super loud and cuts through in the mix especially for blast beats. I got into Trick Pedals a few years back, and honestly, I won’t use anything else anymore. I also have a couple different types of cymbals I’m using for my live run.

GA: You mentioned earlier you have a  few upcoming albums you are a part of, do you have any other soon to be released or recently released music that we should check out that you appear on?

MR:  Right now, just the stuff I mentioned that has yet to come out. I am working on the new Anomalous album, so I am really excited to do that. I’m working on a third song for them right now learning it. I’ve tracked two songs already and both of themare insane. I am also working on an album with this band called Hypaethral from Missouri. Their music is like Spawn of Possession and Gorod, it’s really cool. I think they will be debuting one of the songs I tracked for them either this week or next so that will be something to check out.

GA: Do you have any more plans to do anymore Proceed on Your Way to Oblivion?

MR : We’ll see, Shane has been busy with Cognitive. They just released a new album on Metal Blade, so he is going to be busy for a while being on the road. Steve and I have spoken on fleshing out some ideas in the meantime. We do have one new song tracked, but it’s not finished yet.

GA: What do you have lined up after this? I see you have a few dates with mutual friends of mine From A Second Story Window on the Through the Eyes of the Dead run.

MR : Yea, a week from today we (TTEOTD) will be at the Kingsland, with them and On Broken Wings, it’s going to be a sick one. Then the next day we will be playing with From A Second Story Window and The Red Chord outside of Boston. My Bitter End used to play with FASSW all the time back in the day. I remember playing in Lancaster with them, Remembering Never and August Burns Red, which led to us going out with August Burns Red on tour. That was the first big US tour we ever did at that time.

GA: Anything else you would like to add or promote?

MR : Just want to make a special mention to my wife and my daughter. My wife Neha, and my daughter Flora are my world outside of all of this. They take a huge priority over everything else.

Empire Extreme got to sit down and talk to Mercury of Priest when the band came into PA at LoveDrafts.

The show was amazing all the bands that we seen put on a great show for the fans. Vampires Everywhere killed it once again. Last time we seen Priest we only got to see them open for Powerman5000 and got like 6 songs, this time Priest was headlining and we got to see much more which I was excited to see. Priest played a good mix of old and new and even a few songs off the album “Dark Pulse” which is out in May. We got to see 13 songs played and even Mercury come out into the crowd a few times and when they played “Obey” even blessed some of the crowd. It was great hearing songs like “BlackListed”, “Signal in the Noise”, “History in Black” and “Vaudeville”. It was such a great night of music and a great conversation with Mercury. If you get a chance to see this band play in ur town, it’s a must

James May has said his tweet about Pride flags in London has been misinterpreted.

Earlier this week, The Grand Tour presenter posted on X (once Twitter) that he “admired” the Pride movement, but that rows of LGBTQ+ flags in central London “may be seen as authoritarian.”

“Please remember that some terrible things, with which you would not wish to be allied, began with TMB [Too Much Bunting]. World War Two, for example,” he wrote.

Pride: while I have observed and admired what you have achieved over my lifetime, may I respectfully suggest that you are borderline guilty of Too Much Bunting (TMB). It may be seen as authoritarian, and therefore oppressive. Please remember that some terrible things, with which… pic.twitter.com/DsMcikkaVF — James May (@MrJamesMay) June 13, 2024

A day later, May issued a clarification. “I’ve had an illuminating 24 hours reading the responses to my ‘bunting’ post,” he said.

“I’m not suggesting that the Pride movement has anything in common with the Nazis.” He added: “My post is not intended for use as a community launch pad for sorties into lazy homophobia.”

I've had an illuminating 24 hours reading the responses to my 'bunting' post. Now hear this. 1) I'm not suggesting that the Pride movement has anything in common with the Nazis. 2) My post is not intended for use as a community launch pad for sorties into lazy homophobia. 3)… — James May (@MrJamesMay) June 14, 2024

May has recently finished voiceover work for the final episode of The Grand Tour , the Amazon Prime Video series he presents with Jeremy Clarson and Richard Hammond. He said the episode will stream in September.

Falling in Reverse have announced their first album in seven years, the aptly titled Popular Monster , which shares its title with the band's twice-platinum 2019 single, and follows up 2017's Coming Home LP. History-Maker Grant Secures Victory at 2024 Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed

Vilaubi holds on in two-hole playoff for second epson tour victory.

  • on-other-tours

alex terrible tour

Hometown hero Linn Grant clinched a one-shot victory on a dramatic final day at the 2024 Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed. The 24-year-old started the day 11 shots behind fellow Swede Sebastian Söderberg, who had led from the start of the tournament.

Grant fired a bogey-free 65 (-7) on the final day to post the clubhouse lead of 17-under-par at Vasatorps Golfklubb. In what was an afternoon full of testing conditions, Söderberg had a one-shot lead heading into the last but made a double bogey meaning Grant was champion again.

“I have very mixed emotions,” said Grant, who had been warming up on the range in case of a playoff. “Like I said before, I feel honestly terrible for Sebastian at the moment.

“I don’t even have words for it. I can’t imagine how he feels. At the same time, I’m so surprised standing here as a winner again, in my hometown. It’s amazing.

“Honestly, I just tried to go out today and give myself the opportunity. I didn’t think about the chance of winning – 11 shots is a huge gap. I just wanted to go out, have fun, make as many birdies as possible and enjoy it with my brother on the bag and being at home.

“The abrupt finish of the tournament was just different. It’s my first time experiencing a win like that. It hasn’t really sunk in yet. I’m so speechless. I can’t really believe it.”

Grant made history in 2022 becoming the first woman to win on the DP World Tour and has now become the first woman to win twice. The Solheim Cup star made back-to-back birdies on holes two and three, holes five and six, and holes nine and ten. Her final birdie of the day came at the last when Grant chipped in from the rough and that ultimately was the shot that won her sixth LET title.

“The shot from the fairway wasn’t ideal,” Grant continued. “I was standing over the chip thinking it would be really cool to hole it. I played really well on the back nine but didn’t have many opportunities to make birdies.

“It was more difficult out there with the wind on the back nine. I knew it would be tougher to make birdies and hit it close. But I think I did a good job.

“[On 18] Unbelievable. I think I celebrated good enough on 18 when I was there, so I’m not looking back at that wishing it was me in the last group. It turned out to be an incredible day.

“Just having an event so close, playing in Sweden, I will always love coming back here and playing.”

Scotland’s Calum Hill produced a final round of 69 (-3) to finish in a share of second place alongside Sweden’s Söderberg on 16-under-par. LET winner Johanna Gustavsson was joined by English duo Alex Fitzpatrick and Andy Sullivan in a tie for fourth place on 13-under-par.

Five players finished in a share of seventh place with Denmark’s Nicole Broch Estrup, France’s Nastasia Nadaud, Frenchman Ugo Caoussaud, Spain’s Nacho Elvira and Sweden’s Jens Dantorp all on 12-under-par.

In the LET Order of Merit, Grant jumps up from 123rd in the rankings to sixth place and has 785.50 points to her name. Broch Estrup has moved up a couple of places going from tenth to eighth with 721.50 points after her top-10 finish. While Gustavsson has also climbed the rankings from 28th and now sits in 12th place with 594.34 points.

Next up on the LET is a trip to Italy for the Ladies Italian Open which is taking place at Golf Nazionale from June 14-16.

Spain’s David Puig rallies after first round to make US Open cut, secure spot at the Paris Olympics

PINEHURST, N.C. (AP) — David Puig was fully aware that he needed to make the cut at the U.S. Open to make the Spanish team for the Paris Olympics, and he had a whole lot of work to do after opening with a 76 at Pinehurst No. 2.

But the 22-year-old Puig answered the call Friday with four birdies on the front nine, and he balanced a bogey that again put him on the ropes with another birdie on the back side. The result was a second-round 68 that left him at 4 over for the championship and inside the cut line, which moved to plus-5 late in the day when Brooks Koepka stumbled on his final hole.

“There was not a mindset at all. I hit terrible yesterday and just, you know, worked on the range. The mindset was just try to hit it good,” said Puig, who left Arizona State to turn pro and join the LIV tour. “I think I did a good job today.”

Puig wasn’t the only one who exhaled in relief at the end of a tough day at brutally hot Pinehurst.

Scottie Scheffler, the world’s top-ranked player by a wide margin , followed a first-round 71 with a 74 to make the cut on the number. Cameron Young, Tommy Fleetwood and Shane Lowry — and Koepka — also were 5 over heading to the weekend.

Sahith Theegala had perhaps the most impressive rally, following his opening 77 with a round of 68 on Friday.

There were plenty of big names headed home, too.

Viktor Hovland shot 68 on Friday but still missed the cut by one. So did Max Homa and former champ Justin Rose. Tiger Woods was in the group another shot back , and said afterward he doesn’t know what the future holds for him at the U.S. Open.

“In order to win a golf tournament, you have to make the cut. I can’t win the tournament from where I’m at, so it certainly is frustrating,” Woods said after his 13th consecutive round without breaking par in a major. “It just didn’t work out. As far as my last Open Championship or U.S. Open Championship, I don’t know what that is. It may or may not be.”

Justin Thomas, who got some advice on the range from Woods after his opening 77, fared little better with a 74 that left him 11 over for the championship. The two-time PGA champion has missed the cut in five of his last seven majors.

There were three amateurs among the 74 players who made the cut. Gunnar Broin, who plays collegiately at Kansas, was at 3 over after a second-round 68. Neal Shipley also was at 3 over and Luke Clanton at 5 over.

Ludvig Aberg held the lead heading into the weekend. He was at 5 under, one shot clear of Bryson DeChambeau, Thomas Detry and Patrick Cantlay.

As for Puig, the decision to turn pro and join LIV came with some ramifications.

Olympic teams are decided by the world ranking, but points are not rewarded for results on the Saudi-backed tour. And players on LIV are ineligible to play in PGA Tour events, the most straightforward way to rack them up.

Puig had a plan, though. He could still play the Asian Tour on weekends off from LIV. So, he began a globe-trekking march in which he played just about everywhere from Malaysia and Oman to Hong Kong and Macau. Along with a string good results, his wins at the International Series event in Singapore and the Malaysian Open vaulted him up the world ranking.

With two-time major winner Jon Rahm already assured of one of Spain’s spots at Le Golf National, Puig had to make the cut to jump Jorge Campillo, who began this week one spot ahead in the world ranking but did not qualify for the U.S. Open.

“You know, at some points I was thinking about it,” Puig said of his round Friday. “Those little thoughts kind of come and go, and at the end of the day, you know, if you’re thinking about it, it’s good, because it means you’re doing the right thing.”

Puig did just enough right at Pinehurst on Friday. And now, he can call himself an Olympian.
