What is the VBTTF?

The Virginia Beach Travel and Tourism Foundation (VBTTF) is classified as a "public charity" by the federal government and is therefore exempt from federal income tax, under Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Financial contributions to the VBTTF are also tax deductible to the full extent provided by federal law. The VBTTF is additionally qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devices, transfers and/or gifts. For information on financial contributions to the VBTTF, please see the Contact section of our website.

The VBTTF's mission is to both recognize and promote the invaluable contributions that the city’s hotels, motels, timeshares, restaurants, retail stores, attractions, corporations, entertainment venues, sports facilities and other business enterprises make to support our community's economic vitality and quality of life. The Foundation  provides scholarships for college students that live and/or work in Virginia Beach and are enrolled in culinary arts, hospitality and tourism management or any other related discipline at an accredited public, private or for-profit college or university in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

The VBTTF also assists in building international, national, statewide, regional and local partnerships to support favorable travel and tourism related policies and programs to help further strengthen and unify Virginia Beach's hospitality industry. The Foundation additionally supports educational efforts and research reports on Virginia Beach and the Coastal Virginia Region's travel and tourism sectors.

Finally, the VBTTF's Workforce Development Program connects highly educated and motivated college students with Virginia Beach travel and tourism businesses that offer internships, full-time jobs, and part-time/seasonal employment opportunities. The Virginia Beach Hotel Association collects the resumes and  builds a pool of candidates for our hospitalitiy industry's current and future hiring needs.

In today's highly competetive global marketplace, travel destinations require capital investment in their brands to remain relevant. By investing in proactive and agressive destination marketing along with innovative and creative travel promotion, the Virginia Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau attracts new visitors, creates significant local economic activity and generates crucial tax revenue to support essential municipal services. Without effective destination marketing and travel promotion, the City of Virginia Beach will cede these many benefits to competing communities.
