Ghosts & Gravestones

Travel past ancient cemeteries, (those still standing and those that have fallen victim to the passage of time and progress), antebellum mansions, and lush squares ripe with live oaks dripping with Spanish moss. Drive by the sites of some of the bloodiest battlegrounds in history, where you may hear echoes of battles and the spirits that remain.

Now Ghosts & Gravestones guests will experience America’s Most Haunted City like no other tour with EXCLUSIVE nighttime entry into TWO of Savannah’s most haunted venues.

FIRST is a stop at the Andrew Low House. This lovely John Norris designed mansion combines elements of Grecian and Italian Villa styles and sports one of Savannah’s most stunning ironwork balconies. There have long been reports of spirits that inhabit the home, tales of staff seeing apparitions dressed in old-fashioned clothes and furniture moving with no one occupying it. All of that is combined with modern experiences of the docents in the house to culminate in quite the paranormal legacy. You will have the opportunity to walk the halls of this majestic home and experience it for yourself.

Then Step off the “Trolley of the Doomed” into a new and exciting chapter in the Ghosts & Gravestones story – Perkin’s and Sons Ship Chandlery!

Located on River Street, which many believe is the paranormal epicenter of “America’s Most Haunted City”- Perkins and Son’s stands as a testament to the bustling port business that once took place right at its doorstep. Follow your Ghost Host as he steps inside this antiquated building. Immediately upon entering you will sense you have stepped into another time. Once inside, you will truly EXPERIENCE the haunted history that has given rise to the immense paranormal presence in Savannah. All of your senses will be engaged as you are immersed in the dark tales of River Street’s past.

A Local’s Guide to the Spookiest Savannah Ghost Tours

Hand-painted ghost tours in Savannah sign with white text on a black background that reads "Due to Ghostly Encounters - Tour at your own risk!"

If you’re trying to find the best ghost tours in Savannah but are having a hard time making a decision because there are just too many options — I hear ya!

That analysis paralysis sets in quickly once you see how fun they all look.

I can help, though!

My friends and family always want to go on ghost tours when they visit, so that means I’ve had a lot of experience seeing which ones are best.

If you’re new around here, first of all… allow me to extend a warm welcome!

My name is Erin, and I authored the Savannah First-Timer’s Guide . I live downtown and love exploring the city after dark.

Savannah Walking Ghost Tours

If you’re on the hunt for the scariest ghost tours in Savannah, the nighttime walking tours are by far the best option.

There’s simply no comparison for being on foot to experience the Historic District’s most haunted locations. It will truly give you the heebie-jeebies!

Here’s the thing…

When you’re on foot you can get up close and personal with the spirits of the night — much more so than when you’re riding around in a hearse or trolley with loudspeakers blaring.

If I learned anything from watching Scooby Doo as a child, it’s that you have to be quiet to sneak up on ghosts. Zoinks!

Best Walking Ghost Tours in Savannah GA

NOTE: I always promote smaller, locally owned businesses on my site and avoid recommending corporations that run cookie-cutter tours in multiple states.

  • Savannah Dark History Tour
  • History & Haunts Candlelit Tour
  • Savannah Ghostwalker Tour
  • Sixth Sense Savannah Adults-Only Tour

The Dark History Tour is nice because they include earbuds so you can hear the guide. That means you won’t miss out on the ghost stories even when the streets are noisy. ( Or, if you’re like me, you won’t miss any details even if you wander off to take photos!) This tour is a reader favorite.

History & Haunts Tour is led by a guide dressed in historic attire who carries an old lantern around. I appreciate that this company doesn’t tell tall tales, and the guides are respectful of local homeowners’ properties. Plus, it’s just fun to explore the city by candlelight! This is also reader favorite.

The Ghostwalker Tour is an excellent option if you’re trying to avoid alcohol, since it isn’t allowed during their tours! They also cap the tour at 15 attendees, so it’s a better experience if you truly want to ask questions and learn Savannah’s haunted history.

I appreciate the Sixth Sense Tour because it’s a female-owned business that shakes things up a bit. They visit the Espy House and talk about the old Candler tunnels, so it’s different from the cookie-cutter stories you hear on many other tours.

Pros of a Nighttime Walking Ghost Tour

  • Walking tours are so much more interactive than the other types of tours. When you’re on foot, it’s easier to see the intricate details of Savannah’s cemeteries and historic homes.
  • The guides spill more details during the walking tours! If you’re the type of person who really gets into the stories, you can stroll right next to the guide and ask as many questions as you want.
  • The Spanish moss that looks so pretty during the day casts ominous shadows over the Historic District at night. Sometimes it brushes your shoulder and is extra startling.
  • The dimly lit cobblestone streets majorly add to the spook factor.
  • You’ll burn more calories during a walking tour.
  • Walking tours are much better for the environment.

B&W image of the side of a brick building at night with spooky shadows that resemble tree characters walking down the street

Cons of a Savannah Walking Ghost Tour

Of course, the walking tours have their downsides, too.

  • The max number of guests allowed per tour is 30, but I’ve seen larger groups than that wandering around. When the groups are too big, it’s difficult to hear your guide.
  • The pace can also be slow, since the group has to move at the speed of the slowest person.
  • Finally, since much of Savannah’s Historic District is an open-container zone, sometimes you’ll get people who are drinking on the tour, and they can get obnoxious and ruin things for everyone else.

Fortunately, the majority of the heavy drinkers tend to stick to the pub crawls, which I’ve separated into their own category further below.

VERDICT: If you’re physically able, the walking tours are the way to go! They’re the spookiest option, and they’re much better for the environment than the alternatives.

Savannah Haunted Pub Crawls

It doesn’t get much more “Savannah” than chasing spirits while you’re sipping on spirits !

During a pub crawl, you’ll visit three to five bars during a two-hour time period, and you’ll be able to order a drink at each spot.

Make note that the haunted pub crawls are limited to participants who are 21+.

Savannah Pub Crawl Ghost Tours

  • Spooky Savannah Haunted Pub Crawl & Walking Ghost Tour
  • Creepy Crawly Nighttime Haunted Pub Walking Tour of Savannah
  • Nightly Spirits Haunted Savannah Ghosts & Pub Walking Tour
  • Mad Cat’s Bad Kitty Haunted Pub Crawl

The most popular option amongst the members in my private FB group is Spooky Savannah Haunted Pub Crawl & Walking Tour . It was also recently voted the top haunted pub tour in Savannah!

Spooky Steve is a total hoot, and he’ll keep you laughing while filling you in on all the local lore.

Pros of a Savannah Haunted Pub Crawl

  • Pub crawls are an excellent way to meet people in a new city.
  • They’re also a nice way to experience a few popular bars to decide which ones you like best.
  • If you’re concerned about safety, it’s nice to have a guide that will make sure you aren’t harassed, roofied, or in any similar type of danger.
  • The crawls are fun for the ever-popular bachelor and bachelorette parties that always seem to be happening in Savannah. They’re also ideal for solo travelers.
  • Thanks to the city’s generous open container policy, if you aren’t finished with your drink when it’s time to leave, you can take your alcohol to go (aka: “take a traveler”).

Cons of the Haunted Pub Crawls

  • It’s up to each individual guide to maintain crowd control.
  • Guests who don’t know their limits can ruin the fun for everyone.
  • The cost of alcohol is typically NOT included in the purchase of your ticket. (An exception: This one does include the drinks in the cost of the tour.)

NOTE : You’re not required to order drinks on the haunted pub tours, so don’t feel obligated. You’re welcome to just listen in on the stories and enjoy visiting the locations.

Savannah Hearse Tours

Few things screams “I’m a tourist” faster than riding around Savannah in a beat-up old hearse while a tour guide blasts stories at you over a loudspeaker. It’s practically a first-time visitor right of passage.

Still, the tours are popular — and rightly so since you get to ride around in a real hearse that’s been converted to “carry the living instead of the dead.”

Pros of the Hearse Tours

  • You can book an entire hearse for a private tour, so they’re a great option for families or anyone who wants some personal space.
  • Another perk of the hearse tours is that you can make requests if there’s a specific spot you want to see. TIf you want to venture into the Starland District or if there’s a place you’d like to check out that isn’t on any other ghost tour, the hearse tours will likely take you there.

Cons of a Savannah Hearse Tour

  • The biggest downside is that the hearses are old and not very comfortable. Maybe that’s part of the experience, though?
  • Since you’ll be listening to your guide through a speaker system, their tours don’t feel as personable.
  • In my opinion, the hearse tours are more for entertainment and aren’t nearly as spooky as the walking tours. They fall on the cheesy side — but intentionally so.

An older model black hearse with red writing on the side drives through Savannah's Historic District with a load of tourists

VERDICT: If you want a personalized tour or prefer to stick with your small group then these are a good choice. However, if you want to be scared silly, go on one of the walking tours instead.

Savannah Haunted Trolley Tours

Trolley tours offer somewhat of a middle-ground between the walking tours and the hearse tours. They aren’t very spooky, but if you have mobility issues or have young kids in tow, I think they’re much more comfortable than the hearse tours.

The trolley tours will cart you past many of Savannah’s haunted locations , and you might even go inside a few of them — although that varies based on which trolley tour you take.

Savannah Ghost Trolley Tour Options

  • OTT Ghosts & Gravestones Tour
  • OST Grave Encounters Trolley Tour
  • OST Grave Encounters Trolley Tour w/Dinner at the Pirates House
  • The Savannah Underground Immersive Ghost Hunt Nighttime Trolley Tour

I’ve written a very detailed post about the differences between the haunted ghost tour trolleys , so I suggest reading it to learn which tour to take. It includes lots of helpful reviews from travelers who are in my private Savannah Facebook group.

The Ghosts and Gravestones trolley at night parked beneath a large oak tree with Spanish moss hanging from its limbs

VERDICT: Choose a haunted trolley ride if you have mobility issues but still want to experience the haunted side of the city. Expect the trolley tours to fall on the cheesy side! (Don’t say I didn’t warn you.) Read my Savannah ghost tours trolley post for recent reviews.

Savannah Paranormal Tours & Experiences

Want to try your luck searching for ghosts? Savannah’s a great place to do it!

There are a few tours in the city that loan our their ghost hunting equipment, teach you how to use it, and then send you off to find a ghost of your own.

These tours use equipment like dowsing rods, EVP recorders, and EMF sensors to track down spirits. Most are outdoor tours, but the top tour takes place inside an historic theater that was built in 1818!

The Top Paranormal Investigations in Savannah

  • Historic Savannah Theatre 3-Hour Paranormal Investigation
  • The Witching Hour 2-Hour Paranormal Walking Ghost Tour

The Historic Savannah Theatre Paranormal Investigation is one of the best tours to take if you like investigating paranormal activity. The guide teaches you how to use ghost-hunting equipment and then lets you roam the historic theatre late at night when it’s extra spooky. This is a reader favorite!

The Witching Hour Paranormal Tour is led by Brigid, so it’s a female-owned business. She focuses on the use of dowsing rods in an attempt to communicate with known spirits in places like Colonial Park Cemetery . Hers is a family-friendly tour, and she even offers a sage cleansing at the end to ensure no spirits follow you home. This is another reader favorite!

A Southern live oak, its branches loaded with Spanish moss, grows amongst tombs in Colonial Park Cemetery

VERDICT: Paranormal activity tours work best when you go into them with an open mind. You have to believe anything is possible when it comes to communicating with Savannah’s spirits.

Savannah Haunted House Tours

While there are a plethora of different options for ghost tours in Savannah, you may be surprised to hear that there aren’t many haunted house tours in the city.

Most of the tours listed above walk or drive past Savannah’s haunted houses , but they don’t go inside.

The Sorrel Weed House is rare because you can explore the home’s interior while a guide explains its unusual history. They also offer a paranormal investigation so you can try your hand at using ghost hunting equipment inside the home.

B&W image of the historic marker in front of the old Sorrel-Weed House in Savannah.

VERDICT: I always say it’s good to take the opportunity to tour Savannah’s historic homes while they’re open to the public, since they could revert back to private use at any time.

True Crime Savannah Ghost Tours

Whether you’re a fan of dark tourism and crime podcasts or you simply enjoy watching Law & Order episodes on repeat, a true-crime tour might be just your speed.

Instead of communicating with spirits or photographing orbs, you’ll hear about real life crimes of passion that have occurred in Savannah. (This city has had plenty of them, no doubt.)

Popular topics include the notorious Mercer Williams House , a skeleton found inside the walls of the Foley House Inn, the hanging of Alice Riley in Wright Square, and many other spooky Savannah stories.

A dense fog settles over Wright Square in the dark early-morning hours in Savannah, providing a sinister aura

VERDICT: As far as I’m concerned, every street in Savannah has been the scene of a crime at least once. Case in point: Savannah Crime Map 2021 and Current Savannah Crime Map .

Spooky Savannah Ghost Tours (Ages 18+)

Sometimes when you’re on vacation it’s nice to enjoy a kid-free night.

These tours are for the 18+ crowd, and — although they don’t necessarily stop in bars for drinks — they usually don’t mind if you tote your own to go cup along the route. (If you’re of legal age, that is.)

  • Uncensored Nighttime Walking Tour (Ages 18+)
  • Sixth Sense Savannah Adults-Only Walking Tour (Ages 18+)
  • Spirits & Scoundrels Adults-Only Walking Tour (Ages 18+)

BW image of spooky stairs with wrought iron railings

VERDICT: Choose these tours if you’re into the macabre and are hoping to get spine-tingling chills and/or goosebumps at least once during your outing.

Family-Friendly Savannah Ghost Tours

I realize many of you vacation with your kids and need family-friendly options to provide an hour or two of entertainment. I totally get that! After all, I experienced my first Savannah ghost tour when I was in my younger and more impressionable years.

That was back in the days when tour guides still paraded groups past the beautiful Hampton Lillibridge House — one of the only homes in Savannah where an actual exorcism was performed.

That tour certainly made a lasting impression on me, and I’m willing to bet a similar one will probably do the same for your kids! It’s a good way to get them hooked on Savannah.

The Top Family-Friendly Ghost Tours in Savannah

  • Fraidy Cat: The Family Fun Ghost Tour of Savannah
  • Blue Orb Savannah Shadows: All Ages Ghost Tour
  • Grave Tales Fun for the Whole Family Ghost Tour

VERDICT: Family-friendly ghost tours are a fantastic way to keep the kids entertained while also guaranteeing they won’t soon forget their trip to Savannah.

Best Ghost Tours in Savannah

I hope I haven’t overwhelmed you with all the options for ghost tours in Savannah ! There are just so many.

My intent is always to help you choose the best tour to suit your needs while also supporting the many incredible small-business owners in Savannah.

Each type of tour has its pros and cons, but they’re all in good fun and all part of the weird and wacky Savannah experience. Just embrace the supernatural, and let your imagination run wild.

You never know… you might get home and find you’ve captured a ghost in one of your photos!

Savannah Terrors takes you to the city’s haunted locations that put it on the otherworldly map. Discover the sordid tales that birthed the infamous hauntings and spirits you may just experience tonight.

Davenport House

The Davenport House, built in 1820, is a beautifully preserved Federal-style home that stands as a testament to the city’s rich history and haunted past. Staff often recount eerie encounters with a ghost of a young girl playing with a rubber ball in the attic. The building’s time spent acting as a boarding house during the height of Yellow Fever epidemics has filled it with haints and spirits. There are even reports of a feline specter wandering between rooms at this historic home.

Haunted 17Hundred90 Inn

This popular restaurant and hotel has been the subject of numerous paranormal invevstigations, and for good reason. Built in the 1800s, the building became the site of tragedy almost immediately when a young woman committed suicide by jumping from the roof. Her story is as old as time, as she fell in love with and became pregnant by a sailor who left Savannah with no intentions of returning. Distraught, she took her own life, making her a permanent resident of the 17Hundred90 Inn.

The Kehoe House

This quaint, cozy bed and breakfast once served as a funeral home, only after it was the home of William Kehoe, his wife, and 10 kids. The ghosts of the two Kehoe kids who died in the home are still there, causing a ruckus for both staff and guests, maintaining their rambunctious behavior in the afterlife.

What Our Guests Are Saying

Mel bell…a fantastic conductor.

Mel Bell…a fantastic conductor!!! Spoke distinctly, was kind, considerate, funny, wonderful in all ways. If I visit Savannah again, I sure hope I get to ride her trolley again. She made my family and I seem like we were old friends with her in that short time we were riding with her…

It was the highlight of our trip!

A big shout out to Armando on the Old Town Trolley. It was a rainy day, but Armando made the sun shine with his animated and informative presentation. We had the best time ever on a trolley tour… It was the highlight of our trip!

Our family highly recommends this tour

Our tour guide Eric was so energetic!!! He made the tour! So knowledgeable about the city of Savannah and its history! He would burst into song on a whim and interacted with everyone. He kept 3 teenagers entertained for 90 minutes… Our family highly recommends this tour and if possible hop on his trolley bus!

Each time Brenda's tour was phenomenal

Thank you for providing Brenda as a tour guide… In our two days of utilizing your wonderful service, we were blessed to come across Brenda several times, and each time her tour was phenomenal. She is a great historian and storyteller, and by far the best tour guide we have had the pleasure to experience.

Well done tour guide!

We truly enjoyed the tour… but we must say it was made wonderful by our tour guide. He “narrated” the tour as someone who is reading a story. He was great!!! His tone and friendly manner made his knowledge shine even more. He gave us so much information, entertaining us, that we can’t believe he didn’t gasp for air to continue. Well done tour guide!!…

We will take this tour again

…We recently took a trip to Savannah with relatives from MN. We took a tour on the trolley with the intention of getting off and on multiple times. Our tour guide was so amazing and knowledgeable, that we stayed on the entire 90 min tour. Our guide was Will. He deserves to be recognized for his great attitude, knowledge, representation of the Old Town Trolley, and his presentation skills…

Terrifically entertaining tour

Ruben was our conductor and I just had to write in to compliment his work. He was enthusiastic and gave a terrifically entertaining tour of lovely Savannah. No one wanted to get off at any of the stops…

Informative and hilarious

Just visited Savannah for first time on our honeymoon. We had Denise as one of our drivers and we absolutely loved her. She was very informative and hilarious. She truly exemplified Southern hospitality and culture and we hope to visit again soon and hope to find Denise on the trolley… a job well done!

I recently had a long layover at the Savannah Airport so I took the opportunity to wander around. I did the right thing by taking the trolley tour first. Cindy was our conductor and no one wanted to leave! She was FUNNY and informative. The accent just made it all better as she told us about the ‘winders’ in the buildings. Great fun.

Cindy was Fabulous

My grandson and I took the trolley tour and our first and last conductor was Cindy. She was FABULOUS!!!…my grandson was actually excited when we got on the last bus. He said, “Look, it’s Cindy.” She knew every nook and cranny and had so many stories to tell about the areas that we saw. We totally enjoyed our tour and will definitely do another one when we return…

Net is a high quality, professional tour guide

We just wanted to make sure you were aware of the exceptional service provided by your trolley tour guide Net… She was not only knowledgeable, polite, and considerate to all passengers, but she was funny, and interacted with the trolley passengers and kept everyone on board engaged and entertained…

We highly recommend

My sister and I recently visited Savannah and decided to try out the Trolley Tour and we are so happy we did! Our tour guide was Mel Bell and she is FABULOUS! Not only did she fill us with more historical facts than we will ever remember but she was so much fun! She was entertaining and kept the ride lively.

Everyone wanted to stay on Mel's trolley

Mel was a terrific tour guide! She was very knowledgeable and full of joy – everyone wanted to stay on her trolley for every stop because she made it such a fun experience… she deserves a raise.

Cainan's personality was so enjoyable

We had the pleasure of having Cainan as our tour guide. He was very informative and lively. His personality was so enjoyable. We weren’t planning to ride the whole tour in one sitting, but Cainan was so entertaining we ended up riding the whole route with him.

However, due to visitors from all over the world, it’s also possible to find unique international cuisine in Savannah, such as Mediterranean, French, and Asian cuisine.

4. The river: Another aspect that makes Savannah unique is the riverfront, where history and modernity unite harmoniously. The Savannah River is an excellent spot for individuals and families who want to experience a fun environment with endless food options and shopping opportunities. The street is famous for its mix of Federal-, Italianate-, and Romanesque Revival-style homes built in the mid-19th century. No matter where you look, the street is graceful and stunning. Can you tour Savannah at night? + -

Savannah’s historic landmarks, winding lanes, and tragic past have led to countless ghost sightings and eerie happenings — all waiting for you to explore at nightfall. From famous crimes to Civil War battles and the Yellow Fever outbreaks of the late 1800s, our Ghosts & Gravestones tour guides will take you through the city’s most supernatural sites with hair-raising stories that will keep you on edge throughout the tour. Additionally, in Savannah, the city’s lampposts along the streets and the hanging moss swaying in the breeze will set your imagination into high gear as you imagine all sorts of ghostly happenings.

Compliance status

Screen-reader and keyboard navigation.

  • Screen-reader optimization: we run a background process that learns the website’s components from top to bottom, to ensure ongoing compliance even when updating the website. In this process, we provide screen-readers with meaningful data using the ARIA set of attributes. For example, we provide accurate form labels; descriptions for actionable icons (social media icons, search icons, cart icons, etc.); validation guidance for form inputs; element roles such as buttons, menus, modal dialogues (popups), and others. Additionally, the background process scans all of the website’s images and provides an accurate and meaningful image-object-recognition-based description as an ALT (alternate text) tag for images that are not described. It will also extract texts that are embedded within the image, using an OCR (optical character recognition) technology. To turn on screen-reader adjustments at any time, users need only to press the Alt+1 keyboard combination. Screen-reader users also get automatic announcements to turn the Screen-reader mode on as soon as they enter the website. These adjustments are compatible with all popular screen readers, including JAWS and NVDA.
  • Keyboard navigation optimization: The background process also adjusts the website’s HTML, and adds various behaviors using JavaScript code to make the website operable by the keyboard. This includes the ability to navigate the website using the Tab and Shift+Tab keys, operate dropdowns with the arrow keys, close them with Esc, trigger buttons and links using the Enter key, navigate between radio and checkbox elements using the arrow keys, and fill them in with the Spacebar or Enter key.Additionally, keyboard users will find quick-navigation and content-skip menus, available at any time by clicking Alt+1, or as the first elements of the site while navigating with the keyboard. The background process also handles triggered popups by moving the keyboard focus towards them as soon as they appear, and not allow the focus drift outside of it.Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics) to jump to specific elements.

Disability profiles supported in our website

  • Epilepsy Safe Mode: this profile enables people with epilepsy to use the website safely by eliminating the risk of seizures that result from flashing or blinking animations and risky color combinations.
  • Visually Impaired Mode: this mode adjusts the website for the convenience of users with visual impairments such as Degrading Eyesight, Tunnel Vision, Cataract, Glaucoma, and others.

Savannah Nightlife • A Complete Guide

Welcome to Savannah’s #1 nightlife guide.

On this page, you’ll discover the vibrant and varied nightlife scene in Savannah. You’ll find the perfect venue for you and your preferred night out. Whether you want to go all-out clubbing or if you’d like a more laid back dinner and drinks with a view, we’ve got your covered.

Under a canopy of Spanish moss, Savannah features a charm that’s unique to the South, where art, historical architecture, stylish shops, and haunted locations live side by side. There is nothing more Southern than Savannah cuisine, with an abundance of cocktails that accompany every meal. Savannah offers an enchanting experience unmatched anywhere else in the world. It might be overwhelming for a first-time visitor to Savannah to choose what to do! Do not fret; the collections specified here combine quaintness, quirkiness, history, and modernity. If you want a well-rounded experience in Savannah, these must-dos will do the trick.

Take a walk at Forsyth Park

Located in the heart of the historic district, this 30-acre park has oak trees covered in moss, jogger and pedestrian paths, and a fountain that all hails from there. An iconic landmark of Savannah, the park’s great fountain is the perfect place to snap a picture! Aside from two memorials, a Fragrant Garden for the Blind, a playground for children of all ages and a café, Forsyth Park has plenty to offer. In addition, the park’s south end is a buzzing market on Saturdays.

Shop something from the Savannah City Market

One of the best places to see in Savannah is the Savannah City Market! Explore the American Prohibition Museum, check out the local music scene, dine at one of the best restaurants or meet some of the city’s upcoming artists. There is something for everyone at this great attraction for the whole family!

Enjoy dinner at the Bus Station

This restaurant in the former Greyhound bus station serves a menu filled with culinary delights. Elegant cuisine is served at this acclaimed restaurant in a pleasant environment. But are you pressed for time? At The Grey’s Diner Bar, you’ll enjoy a more casual environment that is just as enjoyable. The Grey Market is the perfect stop for those on the go. You can grab a quick bite out of this market, like at a bodega in a big city, and enjoy the fun history and lunch counter selections typical of Southern markets.

Explore some famous Sacred places

Sacred places in Savannah can be enjoyed by anyone, regardless of religion. Visitors to Savannah’s sacred spots aspire to see its breathtaking beauty, its deep histories, and its many photo opportunities. You can also visit Savannah’s oldest Jewish congregation, Congregation Mickve Israel, or First African Baptist Church to experience some of the city’s most significant churches.

Get your hands at Savannah’s snacks

We can’t deny the importance of snacks. As well as gourmet cheeses, gourmet desserts, and hot delivery meals, Parker’s Market Urban Gourmet, also known as “Fancy Parker’s,” supplies cheese imported from abroad. Fresh cut flowers, famous craft beers, a late-night breakfast bar, specialty gifts made in Savannah. The chicken tender sandwich at this restaurant is not to be missed!

A fun carnival atmosphere unfolds throughout this picturesque city by the sea at sunset, attracting tourists and locals alike. In Savannah, many nightlife options appeal to visitors of every age. When it comes to bars in Savannah, there are plenty to choose from. You won’t be disappointed with Savannah’s good time and authentic cuisine if you prefer a “continental” experience as there are many Irish bars and pubs in Savannah.

The Congress Street staple is a popular venue for live music in the city. Its Gothic décor offsets its unpretentious vibe. Cool bartenders and friendly customers make this an excellent place for punk rock and hipster college students to go. It’s also an excellent place for international tourists to see the eclectic lineup. For the past 15 years, the Jinx has welcomed the most popular bands. Among the music styles are hip hop, metal, country, and rock. Opening time is 4 p.m.- 3 a.m. Monday through Saturday. Here you can hear live music and enjoy good drinks. Every day is different and exciting. For a list of performing bands on your days of the visit, look at their Facebook page.

  • 22 Square Bar

The current hotspot in Savannah nightlife, 22 Square, is in the hip Andaz. In addition to welcoming locals and visitors alike, the ambiance is chic and lively, bringing out the spirit of cocktails. This creative blend of signature cocktails is shaken, stirred, and poured by talented mixologists, all topped off by Southern hospitality. A variety of classic and contemporary cocktails are created from fresh juices, elixirs, tonics, and artisanal spirits, with favorite drinks like the Tybee Breese, Savannah Fizz, and Georgia Julep. A fine wine list is also available by the glass and bottle and local and imported lagers and draft beer. In addition, you’ll find a generous selection of cheeses, meats, and toppings on the menu to snack on. A local favorite, it’s stylish and trendy. 22 Square Restaurant serves some excellent cuisine showcasing Southern specialties, so if you’re hungry for more, try its farm-to-table dishes.

  • Molly MacPherson’s Scottish Pub & Grill

Its name is derived from the owner’s great-grandmother, and the decor, menu, and ambience make it the “real thing.” Kilt-clad waiters and bartenders, along with an extensive selection of single malts, enhance the experience. The warm ambiance is reflected in the wooden bar and comfy chairs flanking the fireplace. When you combine these tasty traditional Scottish pub dishes with the extensive list of whiskies, beers, wines, and cocktails – you could very well think you were in Bonnie Scotland. Unfortunately, authentic Scottish pubs are few and far between. You should order the Tobias Bomb if you’re a whiskey lover.

  • Circa 1875 Gastropub

A swanky bistro-pub that delights in delectable French cuisine and Old-World charm, it will take your breath away with its unpretentious French bistro. In what was once an Irish pub, each section of the bar and restaurant has its character and is characterized by wooden floors, tiled flooring, and beautiful carvings. In Circa 1875, you will find a large selection of wine, imported beer, classic cocktails, and designer martinis. This gastropub offers mouthwatering dishes like escargots and pâté for starters and steak fries and cassoulet as main dishes. If you can, order mussels stewed in fennel, shallots, and white wine. Sweeten your meal with the cream cheese frosting atop the carrot cake. The attentive staff can suggest wine pairings. A great French bistro outside of Paris is what you’ll find here. You can get something to eat after the restaurant closes on the pub menu.

  • Jazz’d Tapas Bar

An exotic tapas restaurant located in Savannah’s Historic District, Jazz’d be described as “swish, sultry and swank.” It is found in the basement of the historic Kress building. If you are looking for an after-hours snack, you can select from various “Americanized” tapas selections. Six nights per week, live music features classic Sinatra and Johnny Mercer-style blues, swing, and jazz. There are few places as glamorous and sexy as this in the city, and it’s tucked away in a nice historical building. So if you’re in the area on a Thursday, be sure to stop by Jazz’d to hear Trae Gurly perform Sinatra classics.

  • Congress Street Social Club

Located within a block of City Market, Congress Street Social Club is a popular nightspot for meeting new people, mingling, and making new friends. Several bars, including one on the ground floor, one on the second floor, and another in the basement, provide plenty of options. In addition to pool tables, dartboards, and vintage photo booths, there are other entertainment options. You will find a variety of tasty and reasonably priced food offerings including nachos, hamburgers, quesadillas, and pickles. In addition, it is not uncommon to find live bands entertaining the crowds. For a schedule of upcoming performances, visit the bar’s website or Facebook page. It’s a great place to get together with friends – old and new – and offers lots of activity and delicious food.

  • Pinkie Master’s Lounge

There are several reasons why locals frequent the bar, including the affordable drinks, a wall lined with framed pictures of former politicians, and the bar’s rich history. One of Pinkie’s greatest stories is the famous visit Jimmy Carter made in 1978. Former Georgia governor Carter, then a sitting governor, announced his presidential campaign from the top of Pinkie’s bar. The locals you will find here today are friendly, ranging from Savannah natives to young professional students, all of whom enjoy a good drink and a good conversation. In addition, you can enjoy some lively banter there. Listen to Pinkie’s jukebox for a few songs to set the mood.

Inside al roker’s surprise 70th birthday party with ‘today’ co-anchors.

Al Roker and Deborah Roberts posing together

Al Roker’s wife, Deborah Roberts, threw him a surprise 70th birthday party at City Winery in New York City Tuesday night.

The “Today” show weatherman posted pictures from the bash –– which included a performance from Earth, Wind & Fire and appearances from several broadcast personalities.

“Still processing the early #surpriseparty @debrobertsabc threw for me celebrating my 70th birthday with family and friends,” Roker captioned a carousel of 20 photos on Instagram Wednesday.

He added, “I’m much more comfortable being the one giving the party than being on the receiving end. This was overwhelmingly amazing and it’s still sinking in.”

Roker shared several sweet snaps of him and Roberts posing with all three of his kids.

Roker shares daughter Courtney with ex-wife Alice Bell and two kids, son Nick and daughter Leila –– who flew in from Paris for the birthday bash — with Roberts.

Al Roker and Hoda Kotb posing together

His fellow “Today” show co-hosts Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb and Craig Melvin were all present for the special evening, as well as “CBS Mornings” co-host Gayle King and “Good Morning America” co-anchor Robin Roberts.

Deborah, 63, added various personal touches to her husband’s party –– including dozens of prop versions of his viral blue glasses , balloons, custom Krispy Kreme doughnuts and old photos of Roker lined along the walls.

At one point, Guthrie was photographed hugging Roker while smiling and wearing a pair of the blue glasses.

Roberts kept the surprises coming by having Earth, Wind & Fire take the stage stage.

Leila posted a sweet black-and-white video of her parents holding each other close, sharing a kiss and dancing to one of the band’s hit songs.

Roker looked dapper in a light purple button-up with a gray plaid blazer over it, while Deborah dazzled in a sleeveless turtleneck white sparkly dress.

“Let the birthday countdown begin for @alroker We love and appreciate you so much that we simply had to begin celebrating early!! Let’s keep dancing into the next week and into your new decade,” Deborah captioned her Instagram post Tuesday.

Roker turns 70 on Aug. 20.

His birthday party came just one day after Kotb celebrated her 60th birthday with a celebration on Monday’s episode of “Today With Hoda and Jenna.”

Sports | harbor park braces for savannah bananas and 3 consecutive sold-out games.

night tour savannah

This won’t be normal.

When the Savannah Bananas bring their unique brand of baseball entertainment to the shores of the Elizabeth River, those attending can expect a full house.

Three games, Friday through Sunday, pitting the Bananas against a team called the Party Animals have been sold out for months.

Gregory, whose game-day staff will handle concessions and usher fans through the ballpark in all-hands-on-deck fashion, is bracing for the storm.

“We haven’t had three sellouts back-to-back in quite some time, I assume,” Gregory said. “Maybe back when the ballpark first opened. So yeah, we’ll be staffed up.”

“Banana Ball,” which has become a national phenomenon, features quirky scoring rules, frequent on-field dancing and a brisk pace of play.

Bunting isn’t allowed, batters can’t step out of the box, and foul balls caught by fans are outs. The nine-inning games are governed by a two-hour time limit.

“Banana Ball strips away the often criticized lulls and lengthy pauses typical of traditional baseball, delivering a high-octane and entertainment-packed game that keeps both players and fans on their toes,” the team’s website reads.

Since the Bananas began in 2015, they have sold out every home game. Their subsequent tours of the country have been wildly popular.

It’s why Gregory encourages fans to be prepared.

“This isn’t like driving up to a Tuesday game at Harbor Park,” Gregory said. “It’s going to take some thought, effort and planning.”

The Tide light rail and the Elizabeth River Ferry will be free to fans with tickets — as they are when the Tides play at home.

With more than 12,000 people expected each night, parking will be at a premium. Gregory suggested that fans park at either MacArthur Center Mall or Dominion Tower, both of which are prepared for the onslaught.

The Tides often sell out for a Saturday night fireworks show in the summer, but some season-ticket holders choose to avoid those busy nights. That won’t be the case this weekend, when what Gregory called the “no-show factor” won’t be a factor at all.

Of local interest is one Bananas player. Danny Hosley, a utilityman, was a two-way star for Norfolk State who was the 2021 MEAC Player of the Year.

Adding to the mayhem downtown will be this weekend’s Norfolk Waterfront Jazz Festival, which will bring thousands to the area.

Friday night’s Bananas game will be broadcast nationally on truTV, so the Tides plan to put their best foot forward.

“It’s a great situation,” Gregory said. “It’s a great situation for the city, for the Tides, for downtown businesses.

“It’s a chance for us to show Harbor Park off to the nation.”

David Hall, [email protected].

Among the team's rules: No stepping out of the batter's box; no bunting "because bunting sucks"; batters can steal first on a wild pitch or passed ball; if a fan catches a foul ball, it's an out.

Highlights From Savannah Bananas’ Cleveland, Progressive Field Take Over

Tommy wild | aug 11, 2024.

The Savannah Bananas dance and hype up the crowd ahead of their game on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2024 for their first game of the series at Louisville Slugger Field in Louisville, Ky.

  • Cleveland Guardians

The Cleveland Guardians were on the road over the weekend, but fans still got to see baseball downtown, with the Savannah Bananas and Party Animals taking over Progressive Field.

The Bananas have become sensations and a must-watch event over the last few years. Progressive Field became the fourth major league stadium in which they had played, and their performance certainly didn’t disappoint with trick plays, surprise appearances, and classic “Bananas Ball” moments.

Corey Kluber, Jason Kipnis Cameos

The Bananas brought two very familiar faces to the field, and fans were more than excited for these Cleveland alumni cameos.

Corey Kluber took the mound and pitched a successful Banana debut. Kluber pitched in Cleveland for nine years, was a three-time All-Star and won two Cy Young awards during his time here. For a guy who was known for his seriousness and intensity, it was a little odd watching him pitch in a yellow uniform with a large smile on his face. However, it was a fun site to watch!

Jason Kipnis (22) reacts after hitting a solo home run.

The other form Indian who took the field was Jason Kipnis, who was a critical piece of Cleveland’s 2016 World Series run. Kip stepped into the box to his classic walk-up song and hit a base hit to center field during his first at-bat. That’s certainly a site Cleveland fans were familiar with.

Fan Records An Out

For those unfamiliar with Banana Ball, everything in the stadium is in play. If a fan catches a foul ball, the batter is out. This certainly encourages spectators to be on their toes, as they never know when they could impact the game.

Not only did a fan catch a foul ball in the Bananas’ Cleveland appearance, but it was a walk-off catch that ended the game!

Cleveland, you rock🤘 It was an incredible night with the 1000th trick play of the year, a few special appearances, the fastest inning in Banana Ball history, and a game winning foul ball caught by a fan! pic.twitter.com/6jhclncj0l — Savannah Bananas (@TheSavBananas) August 11, 2024

All The Trick Plays

The Savanah Bananas are known for their fun, energetic, and unique twist on America’s past time, but that doesn’t make what they do any less impressive.

From fielding ground balls between the legs, back flips in the outfield, and catching fly balls between the legs, it was truly a spectacular show!

‘It’s fans first at the end of the day:’ Savannah Bananas hit Cleveland with their brand of baseball

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Banana Ball jolted Progressive Field on Saturday night.

With the Cleveland Guardians playing the Twins in Minnesota, the Savannah Bananas – the Harlem Globetrotters of baseball – took over the intersection of Carnegie and Ontario. For one night, a packed ballpark became a place where laughs and smiles, not runs and a win, mattered most.

The Bananas stopped in Cleveland as part of the team’s 2024 Banana Ball World Tour. They played against the Party Animals, a team that travels with the Bananas and competes against them. The teams showcased why Banana Ball is the fastest, most entertaining form of baseball, a game where if you looked away, you missed something.

The evening began with the Very Important Bananas meet-and-greet with players from the two teams on the field. Kids dressed as bananas. Superfans wore jerseys that were divided with the logos of the Bananas and the Party Animals.

Outside Progressive Field, the players revved up the crowd, which went bananas. They marched in the plaza between the stadium and Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. They also broke out into their signature “Hey Baby” dance and joined a countdown to the gates opening.

That was just the appetizer.

The team introduced the Dad Bod Cheerleading Squad, the Man Nana’s, as well as Princess Potassium. The Banana Nanas, the 65-and-older dance team, also performed. And two fans played Banana in the Pants, where they caught tossed bananas in their pants.

The team, as it does at the beginning of every game, found one of the youngest fans in the crowd and hoisted the child in the air in a banana suit. Another young fan, alongside the team’s owner Jesse Cole, led the fan warm up, and the crowd mimicked her moves.

In the middle and end of each inning, the team hosted entertainment, such as the infamous World’s Slowest Race, where toddlers attempted to scoot along the first-base line. Slow, but adorable as expected.

Some of the surprises of the night included appearances from a pair of former Indians: second baseman Jason Kipnis, who went up to bat, and Cy Young winner Corey Kluber, who pitched to a batter.

The games are an upbeat experience, and fans are in the mix, whether singing, dancing or taking part in the entertainment between innings.

Andy Archer, 26, of Peachtree Corners, Georgia, is in his first year as a pitcher for the team. Archer said he enjoys putting a fun and positive twist on a game that everyone grew up playing and loving.

“It’s about making it more fun for the fans,” he said while signing autographs. “Just changing the rules like two-hour time limit, and if the fan catches the ball, it’s an out. It feels like they’re a part of the game. It’s fans first at the end of the day. Everything we do has that fans-first mentality.”

Archer calls the games unbelievable, fun and explosive.

Based on the crowd, it was all those things. Players did back flips, caught fly balls with ease and danced. They blended high-level baseball skills with the flair for entertainment.

Missy Bipperman, 39, of Wooster went to her first game Saturday. She and her family were the recognized Bananas Foster family in the middle of the fourth inning.

The Bananas Foster is a nonprofit that celebrates the foster care community and encourages others to get involved. Bipperman works with Stark County and has been fostering for eight years.

She and her family were embraces by both the Savannah Bananas and Party Animals teams on the field.

“Hopefully this inspires some other families to become foster parents,” she said before the game. “I’m just hoping to inspire other people that maybe have it in their heart to foster to decide to take the jump and get involved and get certified.

Cole, the team’s owner, invented “Banana Ball” in 2018, and the first official game was played on June 26, 2020, at the team’s home turf, Grayson Stadium in Georgia.

Derek Wendt, 47, of North Olmsted said he had a great time during the Bananas game he went to last year in Akron. Though it was pouring rain, that didn’t stop him and his family from singing, dancing and interacting with the team. They had so much fun, they went to see the team Saturday night in Cleveland.

“It’s just a different style of baseball with the trick plays, the fans catching a ball and it’s an out,” he said.

Dan Oberst, 27, of Tampa, is a six-year member of the Bananas. He plays first and serves as a designated hitter.

Oberst played baseball at the University of West Georgia and in the Coastal Plain League, a collegiate summer baseball league.

He said he was lucky to join the Bananas. His goal is to put on the best show they can for the fans.

Banana Ball is here to stay, he said, and it’s impacting people positively. He calls it “two hours of joy.”

“People are traveling from all over country to come see us, and for a lot of them, it’s their first time seeing us because of the demand for tickets,” Oberst said.

“So, we spend a lot of time making sure the entertainment and the interactions we have with people are different and it’s something for them to remember. Everyone’s smiling, happy. It’s just like kind of contagious magic.”
