Full Championship Division Schedule

This division is for advanced players looking to compete at the highest level. The yardages will be longer than the Patriot Tour, and there will be 18 and 36 hole events. All of the results from the 36 hole events will be listed on Junior Golf Scoreboard.

Full Patriot Division Schedule

This is the division for players that are relatively new golfers to 18-hole events that want to compete in events with other juniors of similar skill levels. With more than 30 events in Maryland and Virginia at some of the region’s best courses, this is a tour that is loads of fun and offers great competition.

(AGES 9 -18) Membership: $150 Tournament Cost: $75

Recommended Scoring Average 85 or Above

Distance:5,500-5,900 yards

Recommended Scoring Average 88 or Above

Distance: 4,900-5,300 yards

Full 9-hole Tour Schedule

The introductory tour is for junior golfers who want to gain experience with tournaments, with longer yardages than Mini Mulligans, and geared towards players ages 9-14 who want to start playing competitively. Medals are awarded for the Top 3 finishers in each division. There is a Tour Championship at the end of the season open to players that win a medal during the season.

Membership: $75 Cost per Tournament: $35

Avg Score for 9: 50+

Boys 9-14 Division

Distance: 2,300-2,700 yards

Girls 9-14 Division

Distance: 1,900-2,300 yards

9-Hole Full Tournament Schedule

The Mini Mulligans is for junior golfers ages 7 to 10 who want to gain experience with tournament golf in a friendly and competitive environment. The tour uses a modified set of rules to make the game fun for young players. Medals are awarded for the top 5 finishers in each age group.

The tour will consist of two separate 9 Hole Divisions:

Age 7-8 Division | Age 9-10 Division

Membership: $75

Entry Fee for each Event: $35

Recommended Score: Any

Coed 7-8 Division

Distance: 1,400-1,700 yards

Coed 9-10 Division

• 36 Hole o All of the results from the 36-hole events will be listed on Junior Golf Scoreboard. o Designated events are pre-approved for AJGA Stars. *Check tournament information page* o Jr. PGA Championship (National)  |The MAPGA Jr. Tour offers 6 Local Qualifiers for the Jr. PGA Championship (regional). The top 5 from each qualifier will then get exempted and will be in the field for the regional championship. MAPGA Junior Tour Handbook 2023

THE TONY MARLOWE JUNIOR SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM A donation by Tina and Wally Uihlein enabled the MAPGA Scholarship Foundation to create the Tony Marlowe Junior Scholarship in honor of Tina’s late father, MAPGA Hall of Fame Class of 2002 Tony Marlowe. The Tony Marlowe Junior Scholarship fund will provide scholarships to MAPGA junior golfers to be used toward their college education. THE BILLY HURLEY III SCHOLARSHIP Billy Hurley III is a PGA Tour winner who grew up in Northern Virginia and attended the U.S. Naval Academy. He is the only military veteran currently playing on the PGA Tour and has partnered with the MAPGA Foundation to award TWO one-time scholarships to deserving young men and women. Each scholarship will be worth $2500 each. Hurley believes in the importance of furthering one’s education and hopes that this scholarship helps a student achieve their educational goals. Apply Here

THE DENNY MCCARTHY SCHOLARSHIP Denny McCarthy, Takoma Park native, former UVA Golf Team member, member of the 2015 walker cup team, now PGA TOUR member, has consistently shown success throughout his junior, amateur, and now professional career. Denny has partnered with the MAPGA Foundation to award TWO (2) one-time scholarships to deserving junior golfers. Each scholarship will be worth $2,500 each. His love for the game shows and wants to provide that opportunity to junior golfers desired to further their education and elevate their game. Apply Here

HANK MAJEWSKI MEMORIAL SHOLARSHIP

The purpose of the Hank Majewski Scholarship Fund is to honor Hank’s memory and his legacy of promoting junior achievement.  A scholarship will be awarded from the Fund to a graduating high school student who is accepted to an accredited university, college or technical school and who satisfies all scholarship requirements.

To qualify, the applicant must meet the following criteria:

(1)         A cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher,  (transcripts required) (2)         Participation on the Golf Team during high school, and (3)         Demonstrated leadership in community service activities and/or notable work history

All applications should be accompanied by an essay (500 words maximum) on the following topic: “How sports have enriched my life and made me a better person”

TEE IT UP SCHOLARSHIP

The PGA REACH Middle Atlantic Foundation is proud to continue the MAPGA Tee It Up Scholarship. Thanks to the generosity of Crescent City Charities, the MAPGA Tee It Up Scholarship will give all junior golfers, regardless of financial resources, the opportunity to participate in the MAPGA Junior Tour.

The MAPGA Tee It Up Scholarship will cover (for 1 season) – Membership Fee

Eligibility – Receiving free and/or reduced lunches OR – Dependent of a Military Member OR – Had financial hardship due to: – Healthcare – Tuition – Elderly Care – Job Loss due to unforeseen circumstances

Experience Jr Golf in Pennsylvania with the HJGT

Pennsylvania is not just a top state for hosting U.S. Opens; it is also one of the top states on the HJGT schedule . There are such a variety of courses and tournaments that the hardest part is picking the best spot to play.

The HJGT has worked hard to select some of the best and challenging courses for junior golfers to hone their skills and walk away with memorable experiences. Events include a staggering number of opens across the state from country clubs to top public courses. Most events are concentrated around Pittsburgh, State College and Philadelphia. Pennsylvania is our 3rd highest membership state and the HJGT will continue to grow in size of membership and events as the years go on. Members in PA are also conveniently located to events in OH, NJ, and NY. If you are a junior in PA you don’t have to go far to find an HJGT event every week.

HJGT Frequently Asked Questions

No way! You can play in any open HJGT event regardless of location and residence.

Players in the Boys U10 and Girls U13 division may use a caddie at all HJGT events. On each event registration page, you’ll find more details on our caddie policies.

For many of our events, we partner with local hotels and we strongly encourage our parents & players to make reservations in advance at these host properties.

Yes! All boys and girls ages 8-18 are welcome to register for our events.

Absolutely! More collegiate golfers got their start on the Hurricane Tour than with any other junior golf tour in the nation.

You can research “College Golf Programs in Pennsylvania,” locate contact information for the coaches at these institutions, and then contact them directly to inquire about their college golf programs. If you are interested in receiving assistance with the college recruiting process, HJGT recommends multiple free and fee-based college recruiting tools such as Junior Golf Hub , RecruitMe , and Junior Golf Guides , which offers a national email directory of every active college golf coach in the US.

Colleges are not affiliated with the HJGT, however, over the years, HJGT alumni have attended Pennsylvania schools such as: University of Pennsylvania, Penn State , Carnegie Mellon University , Lehigh University , Temple University , and more.

Yes, a majority of our events are ranked by Junior Golf Scoreboard (JGS) and Global Junior Golf Rankings (GJGR). Many of our premium tournaments also qualify for AJGA stars, GolfWeek, and World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR).

The HJGT is a wonderful opportunity for both seasoned veterans and kids who are new to competitive tournament play. While most of our events feature some of the top juniors in the country, our fields also feature boys & girls who are just getting started in competitive golf. If you are unsure about whether your child is ready for an HJGT event, feel free to call us at 407-614-2962 and a staff member will guide you through it.

16 Two-day Events Represents Most Ever for the High-Profile Junior Tour

Stafford, Va.  – The Middle Atlantic Section of the PGA of America (MAPGA) has Announced its 2024 Junior Golf Tour schedule, featuring 16 two-day events (including one 54 hole event), which is the most ever for the longstanding, high-profile tour for young golfers.  There are also 18 one-day events listed on the MAPGA website.

The Middle Atlantic PGA Junior Golf Tour reaches more than 2,500 players annually, with the stance that values and skills learned through junior golf can positively impact a child for the rest of their life. The MAPGA offers six different tournament programs that not only help grow the game, but teach kids the value of integrity and sportsmanship.

“We are extremely proud of our Junior Golf programming,” said Jon Guhl, Executive Director, Middle Atlantic PGA. “The MAPGA Junior Tour is a great place for kids to learn to compete and interact with others, and enjoy all this game has to offer. The Tour continues to grow each year and we look forward to making this the biggest and best year yet.”

About Middle Atlantic PGA

The Middle Atlantic PGA Section (MAPGA), located in Stafford, Virginia, is one of 41 Sections of The Professional Golfers’ Association of America (PGA), headquartered in Frisco, Texas. The MAPGA has been a part of The PGA since 1925 and consists of over 1,100 members and apprentices in Maryland, Virginia, the District of Columbia and small portions of Pennsylvania and West Virginia. There are over 900,000 golfers playing more than 16.5 million rounds of golf a season in the Middle Atlantic region. Junior Golf Tour

The Isaly’s Junior Golf Tour schedule includes 20 events, followed by the Player of the Year Championship. The field for each of the 20 pre-qualifying tournaments will be limited to the first 100 applicants. The Tri-State PGA Point System will be used to determine finishers in each event, and points will be cumulative. The top 10 finishers in each age category will qualify for the Player of the Year Championship and are included in the top 10 finishers. The Isaly’s Junior Player of the Year will be determined in each age division by the total number of points accumulated by participants during the 20 pre-qualifying rounds and the final championship. The Isaly’s Player of the Year Championship event will award double points (POY Championship details below).

Spectator carts will be allowed IF PERMITTED BY THE HOST FACILITY (Fees may apply)! 6. JUNIORS MUST WALK AND CARRY THEIR OWN BAGS OR MAY USE A PULL CART IF PERMITTED BY THE HOST FACILITY! 7. Computation of scores/finishes is the responsibility of each contestant. The TSPGA does not provide this information on an individual basis. 8. Tee times will be available on the website at least one week prior to each event or you may call the section office or the tournament site for your tee time. 9. The Junior Tour is open to boys and girls ages 11 - 18. Your division will be determined by your age on the date of the player's championship (August 1, 2024). All tournaments will be governed under United States Golf Association rules. 10. Distance measuring devices are permitted in any junior level event conducted by the Tri-State Section PGA. (SLOPE MODE is not permitted)

**Double Points will be awarded at the Player of the Year Championship (i.e. 1st Place = 100 Points)

Juniors will be invited to compete in the Player of the Year Championship if they possess one of the following:

• Take 1st place in any tournament
• Rank within the Top 10 in cumulative point total in their respective age division at the conclusion of the season.

CANCELLATION / SUSPENSION OF PLAY POLICY

Due to inclement weather or unsafe playing conditions, the TSPGA Jr. Tournament Director has the authority to declare suspended or incomplete rounds (with 9 Hole minimum completed) as an official and complete tournament. No refunds will be made!

COMPUTATION OF SCORES / FINISHES IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EACH CONTESTANT. THE TSPGA DOES NOT PROVIDE THIS INFORMATION ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS.

If you’re looking for an easy round in a friendly setting, come to Marjon golf course. It’s a 9-hole regulation public course with some more challenging long distance holes. The owners are friendly and welcoming. Make sure to stop by the pro shop and chat with the local golf pro. You’ll be sure to get a few helpful hints. There is also a full-service clubhouse with hot food and drinks. The golf cart s have been updated recently. On the course, you’ll find one set of tee boxes. This course is nicely paced and is often very quiet, so you can get through your round quickly. There are two par 5’s, three par 3’s and 4 par 4’s. Hole #1 is the longest on the course at 515 yards. Holes #6 and #7 run parallel to one another, so watch out for flying balls between the two fairways. The landscape of the course is very wide, flat and open fairways. There aren’t any sand traps or thick trees to contend with. Overall, it’s a very easy course. The main challenge is inconsistencies in the fairway and green. Even though the course is fairly well-maintained for a Par 3 course, the greens can run slow and there are lumps and bumps on the fairway that don’t seem intentional. Don’t expect your ball to roll far on the fairway. The fairways run straight with the occasional long hole. The price is fair for what you get. All in all, Marjon is exactly what you’d hope for in a simple Par 3 course. It has the standard amenities, it’s clean, owners are friendly and the course really doesn’t have any surprises. It’s comforting and predictable. This is a great spot for a practice round or a round with a new golfer or junior. It’s worth a regular visit.

This course gives me such a woody I have to jack it in the fairways. Rolling greens.
