An airport can be a stressful environment, especially one as busy as Copenhagen which is the third busiest in northern Europe. By the time you've checked in and queued for the security procedures you might just want to sit down and relax. But relaxing can be difficult with the sheer number of people crowding the boarding areas.

However, by booking into one of the VIP lounges in the departures areas, you can make yourself comfortable in the relaxed seating areas, take advantage of the complimentary food and drink on offer, watch television or read the provided newspapers and magazines.

On the other hand, if you want to take care of some last-minute business before your flight, the peaceful environment and free Wi-Fi will enable you to concentrate. Some lounges also have workstations.

Several lounges are open to all passengers on payment of the appropriate fee. There is complimentary access for the holders of certain tickets on associated airlines and members of affiliated card schemes such as Priority Pass . Airline lounges generally only admit their own qualifying passengers.

Aspire Lounge

The Aspire Lounge is located in Terminal 2, between Piers A and B and is open from 06:00 to 20:45 (hours may vary). From security turn right and the lounge is on the right. The admission fee is 150 DKK and accompanied children under three are admitted free. The dress code is casual, but no sportswear, baseball caps or shirts with offensive slogans.

Atelier Lounge

The Atelier Lounge is a very colourful place situated in Terminal 2 near to Pier A. The opening hours are 05:00 to 20:30 Sunday to Friday and 05:00 to 20:00 on Saturday. Walk-up entry costs 189 DKK. Access is free for business class passengers on Air France, KLM and Finnair.

• Facilities are similar to those in the Aspire Lounge but in addition, there are televisions and the lounge is non-smoking. The toilets are close to the lounge.

Aviator Lounge

The Aviator Lounge is also located in Terminal 2 between Piers A and B. From security turn right and the lounge is on the left. Admission for walk-up passengers is 155 DKK. The Lounge opens on Sunday to Friday from 05:00 to 20:30 and on Saturday 05:00 to 20:00.

• The lounge is non-smoking and in addition to the facilities in the aspire lounge you can use the printer, copier and computer with internet access.

Eventyr Lounge

The Eventyr is a premium Lounge with panoramic views. It is in Terminal 2 on the second floor of Pier C, close to Gate 26. The lounge is open Sunday to Friday 05:30 to 20:30 and Saturday 05:30 to 17:30. Entry is only for non-Schengen international passengers and the fee is 250 DKK with free access for certain passengers on British Airways, Emirates, Delta Airlines and Norwegian.

• This non-smoking lounge has business facilities with telephone and the use of computer or iPad with internet access. There are showers and hot and cold meals and snacks are available.

SAS Lounge and SAS Gold Lounge

The two SAS lounges are in Terminal 3 to the left after SAS Fast Track. It is free to use for certain classes of ticket holder and members of qualifying levels of their frequent flyer program. Review: SAS Gold Lounge Copenhagen (CPH)

The core essentials of the SAS Gold Lounge in Copenhagen (CPH) remain unchanged, but I want to provide an updated review of the meal options you can expect when visiting this flagship SAS lounge.

SAS Gold Lounge Copenhagen Review

My previous visit this year was in the morning during breakfast hours and this visit was closer to midday. Like every visit, however, my first stop was at the café for a barista-made coffee, one of the distinguishing features of the Gold Lounge versus the Business Lounge one level below. The cortado was excellent.

Next I had lunch, enjoying a Smörgåsbord of options from the buffet including a green salad with cucumbers and beets, a pasta salad with spinach, a roasted potato salad, and a bowl of hearty cream of mushroom soup. Only the soup was warm, with all other items cold.

I rounded out the meal with a flat white, which was even better than the cortado (cortado was a bit on the strong side and the LavaZZA espresso is already strong).

Final verdict: great little lunch before my flight to Frankfurt. I will certainly miss this lounge if SAS leaves Star Alliance.

The SAS Gold Lounge in Copenhagen is even better than prior to the pandemic, with a section of both hot and cold food, great coffee, and plenty of room to spread out.

My original review, below this update, is still relevant. Even so, I wanted to provide an update on catering and how the lounge has held up over the last few years.

After entering the lounge, walk past this sitting room on the first floor and head upstairs to the main part of the lounge.

While some airlines uses the pandemic to permanently enact cost-cutting, SAS appears to have gone the other way, at least in terms of its lounge food. I was there in the morning on my way to the Faroe Islands and in the afternoon on my way back and found the food spread quite satisfactory.

Morning selections included scrambled eggs, which I never saw before the pandemic, as well as yogurt, cereal, cold cuts, hardboiled eggs, and oatmeal.

Afternoon and evening selections included a large salad bar, pizza bread, two types of soup, sweet and savory snacks, and cake.

Few things are more satisfying than a delicious slice of whole grain bread with butter:

My favorite part of the lounge remans the “café” which offers barista-made coffee. I enjoyed several cups over the course of my two visits:

Copenhagen can be dark and dreary during the winter months, but a “daylight booster zone” is available to simulate natural light. I stood in it for a few minutes (just a bright white room).

In conclusion, this remains an excellent lounge and in terms of food, I prefer the post-pandemic menu even more than the pre-pandemic menu.

Give me good coffee and you’ve already made me happy. Everything else in the SAS Gold Lounge in Copenhagen was icing on the cake.

SAS Gold Lounge Copenhagen Location + Opening Hours

The SAS Gold Lounge is open to Star Alliance Gold members and located directly above its business lounge “SAS Lounge” near the entrance to Per C in Terminal 3. It is open from 5:15AM to 11:00PM Monday thru Friday and opens at 6:00AM on Saturday and Sunday.

Let’s start with the coffee, because I found this the highlight of a lounge. A barista is on-call, throughout the day, to make the coffee of your choice. Lavazza is used and I enjoyed three cappuccinos during my stay.

SAS Gold Lounge Copenhagen Food + Drink

I know some people complain there is no English/American breakfast items, but the Scandinavian breakfast spread is still comprehensive and quite tasty. Think:

• Hardboiled eggs
• Harvarti cheese
• Oatmeal (hot)
• Overnight Oats with apple
• Black currant

Drinks include soft drinks, juices, water, beer, wine, and various kinds of tea.

SAS Gold Lounge CPH Seating

The Danish modern style appears eclectic at first glance, but is really quite deliberate also quite comfortable.

A small business center offers two spots to work with plug-ins and a copy machine.

Nearby, four HP computers offer web browsing.

Speaking of internet, you want to avoid the whole front side of the lounge (facing the terminal, directly above the entrance) if you want to use the internet.

That side of the lounge has desks and tables with plugs and I set up shop there first. But the wi-fi Internet signal from the lounge was too weak to reach that room…I could not connect and ended up moving closer to the coffee bar.

SAS Gold Lounge CPH Daylight Booster Zone

Winters are long and dark in Copenhagen. As a result, the lounge offers a room that simulates sunlight. It is apparently quite therapeutic during times of the year when the light is brief and low in the sky.

Restrooms are clean…as simple as that.

I had arrived from Berlin and had a big day ahead of me in Reykjavik, so I used my extended layover to take a shower. The shower suites, I thought, were located downstairs in the SAS Lounge (not the SAS Gold Lounge).  

There were showers there, but turns out there were showers upstairs as well that I just missed.

Anyway, I appreciated the warm shower and the chance to sync my iPhone with a built-in speaker via bluetooth and listen to music while showering and shaving.

SAS Gold Lounge CPH Quiet Area

A rest area near the corner of the Gold Lounge offered a few easychairs to stretch out in.

Service, outside the coffee bar, was non-existent. I don’t say that in a negative sense, just an observational one. I really didn’t see staff proactively roaming the lounge and collecting empty cups and plates. That said, everyone seemed to be taking care of themselves.

The coffee won me over and will bring me back to this lounge every time I fly via CPH. But this lounge actually has a lot going for it and my time in this lounge reminded me of how much I appreciate my Star Alliance Gold status.

I too love the scandinavian cold breakfast: meats, cheeses, bread, pickles, fresh cucumber and tomatoes, hard boiled eggs. Its hearty and feels fresh at the same time.

I think the food is perfectly fine. We should we willing to embrace the differences when we travel.

On my Scotland trip the Hotel is Islay included Haggus as part of their full breakfast and guess what… I actually enjoyed it!

Yes. The lounge upstairs is opened to *A gold member and then the lounge downstairs is open to business travelers from *A flights. It follows the general model having fancier lounges for FFP members (Finnair is similar)

The showers at this lounge aren’t ventilated, at least when I transited here last year. I took a regular shower + a sweat shower as a result. Quite unpleasant. The lounge outside of that experience was solid.

Not the most valid complaint, seeing how the lounge isn’t actually in England or the US…

I don’t much like this lounge: the food is far too Danish/Scandinavian. Finnair makes a far better fist of providing international cuisine in their Helsinki lounges. No one wants to eat rollmops, at least no one other than Scandinavians, yet this kind of ghastly dish predominates here, Putrid. On the plus side, the bread is good and so is the soup, as well as the coffee noted by Matthew. I do like the Airport: it ( as well as Stockholm and Helsinki ) has great shopping, at least for my taste.

Since I live in Sweden, I have to transit through CPH quite often and spend a considerable amount of time in this lounge. I find it okay but worse than SK’s lounges in ARN and OSL. It’s often very crowded, very hot and not very well cleaned. A bit of a zoo. Also, they have zero variety in terms of F&B options. I much prefer to less crowded and better ventilated Eventyr Lounge (priority pass), just outside the passport control area.

When talking about Star Gold status, it’s worth noting that SAS don’t pay for lounge access at outstations (that’s certainly the case across Europe, not sure whether it also applies to intercontinental destinations), which means that, unless there’s a facility operated by another alliance member, you have to make do without a lounge irrespective of your status or cabin class.

Had a cheap flight from CPH to KEF last year (during the SAS pilot strike no less!), and was given the option to pay $27 ish for lounge access. I probably would have given in and paid have I had more time in the terminal, but I just grabbed tea from somewhere else to enjoy at the gate. Lounge looks good but I don’t feel like I missed much.

It’s an excellent lounge. The Gold lounge does have sleep rooms, too; absolutely wonderful and more comfortable than the Lufthansa first class terminal sleep room.

I deliberately did not mention those! 😉

But now that you brought it up, yes indeed – they are great.

The food buffet looks like Subway teemed up with a gas station quick mart.Not impressed.However,last time I passed through Copenhagen airport I was relieved there were no audio announcements blasting away,and the shops offered nice local food selections.

Will be interesting to see if they make the Star Gold section of the lounge complex into a SkyTeam ElitePlus-only section or if they just combine all of it one joint big area accessible also to business class passengers regardless of frequent flyer program status.

I find the CPH SAS Gold lounge food to be more ok with me now than it used to be 10-20 years ago. It has improved over what it used to be back when CPH suddenly became my post-replacement route to South Asia after 9/11.

It is important that you leave the lounge early enough if you need to pass thru passport control.

Indeed. Fortunately from the “no Wi-Fi” desks looking into the terminal building from the Gold lounge, you can usually see what is happening at the passport control right there. But the situation there can change quickly and right now there is some construction work that may obscure views at time.

There is the Priority Pass Eventyr lounge on the non-Schengen side of passport control by the C gates. I head there and spend spare time there when flying from CPH to non-Schengen destinations. But check their opening hours since they have fewer hours of operation than the SAS lounge.

I have very fond memories of this place. During the pandemic when all the cowards were shivering in their homes with their masks on, I transited through Copenhagen a number of times. I had to pass through passport control to access this lounge, and the chill border guards actually stamped me into the country, even though Denmark wasn’t accepting visitors, provided I promise to come back for my flight and not leave the airport.

Good times.

They weren’t always that chill during the pandemic. And I was admissible to Denmark and to Sweden during the entirety of the pandemic, and yet Danish passport control got a bit on my case when I told them I had flown into CPH from ARN en route to southern Sweden. The Danish passport control women wanted me to take the train instead. 😉 Yes, this happened on non-stop intra-Scandinavian flights of mine since for a while they were systematically dropping us off on the non-Schengen side in order to have their Covid restrictions enforced. The amusing thing was that they really couldn’t do much to me anyway, so they were fussing for the sake of fussing.

Gold lounge is accessible only to Star Gold status passengers and same-flight guests of Star Gold passengers. The business class passengers can’t use the Gold lounge unless they happen to have Star Gold status or are the guest of a Star Gold status-holding traveler.flying a same-day Star Allinance flight.

Review: SAS Gold Lounge Copenhagen

The SAS Gold lounge is open from 5:00 AM to the time of the last scheduled SAS departure of the day, except on Saturdays, when the lounge closes at 9:00 PM. The lounge is accessible by Business Class passengers traveling on any Star Alliance partner flight, SAS Plus passengers, and Star Alliance Gold passengers traveling on any Star Alliance partner flight, regardless of class of service. If you’re traveling in SAS G0 (economy class), you can add a day pass for $32 USD by managing your booking online. If you’re traveling in economy class with any other Star Alliance partner airline, you can buy a day pass at the lounge for $46 USD.

The SAS Gold Lounge is located in the Schengen zone, in between the C and D gates, closer to gate C10. If you are connecting from or departing to the United States, keep in mind that you have to clear passport control to get between the Schengen and non-Schengen zones. That means that if you’re departing Copenhagen on your way to the United States, or to any other destination outside of the Schengen zone, you should save at least 15 minutes to clear passport control before walking to your gate. If you’re departing from the non-Schengen zone and have a Priority Pass membership, I actually recommend you spend your time at the Eventyr Lounge instead. SAS Gold Lounge Copenhagen

Both the SAS Gold and Business Lounges are beautifully decorated in simple Scandinavian décor with light colors, clean aesthetics and bright lighting. The lounges offer a warm and inviting environment with comfortable seating options for dining, lounging and working. To the right of the main entrance, there are two spacious rooms for lounging and relaxing. If you need a quiet place to hang out, this is the best place to be as the majority of people will be in the upstairs portion of the lounge.

Upstairs, you’ll find a large open space set up like a living room. This space appears to be intended for families, large groups traveling together, or for those looking to socialize with others.

Adjacent to the living room, you’ll find a dining room with plenty of tables and chairs to sit down and enjoy your meal.

On this trip, I arrived from Los Angeles and was connecting to Stockholm. I got to the lounge around 7:30 AM and my connecting flight was not until 10:00 AM. For breakfast, the self-serve buffet offered a very basic continental breakfast with cereal, cold-cut meats, hard-boiled eggs, etc. I really wished there were some hot food options such as scrambled eggs, oatmeal or something but I understand this is a very typical European breakfast so I can’t complain too much.

And for drinks during the morning hours, there was a coffee machine and a small selection of juices and wines.

Interestingly though, there was a coffee station that looked like there should have been a barista there but it wasn’t open during my visit.

In the back, you’ll find another seating area and some lounge chairs if you want to kick your feet up and relax for a bit. I wouldn’t really call this a sleep area as it’s not very quiet. There are some curtains set up in between the lounge chairs but I wouldn’t exactly call it private either.

If you need to get some work done, there are plenty of individual workspaces located throughout the lounge. Business travelers can work at any of the dining room tables or in the dedicated work area located in the front of the lounge. Password-protected WiFi was provided throughout the lounge and electrical outlets were located by all the work stations and a majority of the seating areas.

It should be noted that there are no showers in the SAS Gold Lounge. However, there are showers in the downstairs Business Lounge that can be used. All you have to do is go back down to the lounge attendant and ask to use the showers. They will give you a key to the shower room and buzz you into the Business Lounge.

As far as the view goes, this is an interior space so there’s no direct sunlight into the lounge nor are there views of the ramp or runways. There are windows to look outside the lounge but it’s just a view of the inside of the airport.

SAS Lounge and SAS Gold Lounge Copenhagen bottom line

Just like their onboard experience, I find SAS’s lounges to be perfectly acceptable. I don’t think any of their lounges are incredibly amazing by any means but they do offer comfortable spaces for their passengers to rest and relax before flight. Overall, I enjoyed my time at the SAS Gold Lounge in Copenhagen. The lounge was spacious and beautifully decorated and it provided a functional space for me to eat, work and relax. The food spread during the morning hours was minimal but acceptable and the lounge attendants were friendly and polite.

We used often to visit Aspire Lounge in Helsinki Airport which is also our base. That means we like their service and facilities. However, visiting Aspire Lounge in Copenhagen was quite a different experience. Read more to discover, how?

Copenhagen Airport is the busiest airport in Nordic countries . It is located on the island of Ameger close to Sweden . Reaching Copenhagen Centre from the airport takes only 15 minutes by a commuter train and Malmö in Sweden can be reached in 30 minutes. The airport is also a popular transfer point and a hub for Scandinavian Airlines and for Norwegian Air Shuttle .

Aspire Lounge is operated by a ground service company, Swissport . They have lounges in 16 countries and many of them are called Aspire Lounges . For example, we have also visited Aspire Lounge in Helsinki Airport , which is almost similar to the one in Copenhagen Airport. The lounges are decorated in the same way and they offer similar services.

In Copenhagen Airport, Aspire Lounge is quite simple to find. The lounge is located in the central area of Terminal 2 between piers A and B. However, the central area is big and it has two separate corridors. Aspire Lounge is on the inside corridor further from the tarmac windows. When you approach the lounge, you see clear signs. There are stairs up to the second floor, where the lounge is located.

The lounge is in the Schengen area. In the airport, there is also Terminal 3, which is connected to Terminal 2. Terminal 3 serves mainly non-Schengen flights, but some Schengen flights depart from Gates D in Terminal 3. Reaching Piers A and B from Aspire Lounge is fast but if your flight departs from Pier D, you need to reserve 15 minutes more walking time.

Aspire Lounge is suitable for all Schengen departures. Aviator Lounge is another option that is located just opposite Aspire Lounge.

Review of Air Serbia Premium Lounge at Belgrade Airport

Aspire Lounge welcomes the members of the following lounge programs: Priority Pass , DragonPass , Lounge Key , Diners Club and Eurocard . The conditions vary between the lounge programs and access may be included in the program or a fee will be charged. Consult your lounge program for the exact prices.

This lounge is also collaborating with airlines namely: Aeroflot, Air Greenland , Czech Airlines , Finnair and Qatar Airways .

The walk-in price to Aspire Lounge is 160 Danish Crowns (22 euros). However, it is recommended to place a pre-booking to guarantee an entry. Pre-booking is possible via Swissport and the price is 25 euros.

Rating Based on Our Visit

The lounge is well-located in the airport, easy to get to any flight from there. However, there is no elevator to access this lounge.

We were greeted by a very friendly lady staff. While dining, we noticed a constant change in the information about our departure gate. Google and the airport website were suggesting a different gate from what appeared on the information screen inside the lounge. One of us approached the lady receptionist, who was so willing to help in clarifying which one was the right gate. Her friendly and funny personality is a rare gem you won't find in other lounges.

The lounge had a minimalist design. There were many seats available. It was pretty calm during our visit so the place was good for both working and relaxing. However, some of the furniture was worn out and many of the couches were not so comfortable hard chairs. For smokers though, this is a good choice because there is a cabin for smokers. There are toilets for both genders but they require better maintenance. The smelly toilets were uninviting.

The lounge had Wi-Fi, flight monitors, and magazines both in Danish and English language. There were no shower services and only a few charging sockets were available. There was no good view from the lounge.

Aspire Lounge had good drinking options but the food selection was limited. There were only pieces of bread, cheese, hams, meatballs, mushroom soup and some fruits.

The available drinks included soft drinks, juices, wines and strong alcoholic drinks.

Based on our visit, the lounge was so quiet akin to Helsinki's Aspire lounge and the stay in the lounge was more relaxing compared to having stayed at one of the crowded airport restaurants in CPH. The food selection was fair but not anything special. The drink selection was just fine. The friendly and helpful personnel was one of the best parts of our visit here. Though it would highly recommend to upgrade their worn out furniture and impose better maintenance of their toilet facilities.

We can recommend you visit Aspire Lounge at Copenhagen Airport. If you are not a business class passenger, having a Priority Pass is one of the easiest ways to get it. Fortunately, the lounge accepts also many other membership options.

SAS has two lounges located through the same entrance in Copenhagen’s Terminal 3.  The SAS Lounge  located downstairs and the SAS Gold lounge directly above it on the mezzanine level.

I was unsure about which was better but I went with the principle that applies to Qatar’s Al Mourjan and BA’s Concorde Room Lounges, paid ticket holders in premium cabins get a better lounge than frequent fliers. For what it’s worth, I took a quick peek upstairs at one point and the Gold lounge seemed almost identical, albeit a bit smaller overall with less ample food and drink stations.

There were a series of electronic turnstiles here rather than the traditional counters you get at most lounges

I like the fact that there is a dedicated travel centre right by the entrance. If you have a missed connection or any other type of IRROPS the team in this dedicated area will hopefully get you where you’re going as expeditiously as possible and away from the crowds at the regular airline service counters.

The design is quintessentially Scandinavian: pale wood, recessed lighting and clean lines abound. It was great to see that even the barstools have access to a central power column (albeit one without universal sockets). The coffee machine also produced surprisingly good espressos.

A variety of snacks were available at the tea and coffea area. The cold drinks section had a pair of rather unusual red and white wine taps, in addition to the usual beer tap and soda fountains.

The food selection was unfortunately extremely limited. Boiled eggs, vegetables, lingonberries, bread, pastries and cheese.

Beyond the restaurant area was a far more typical lounge area, with zero privacy, no power sockets and a coffee machine. There was an abundance of sunlight here though, albeit with no view to speak of.

Between these two main lounge sections was a small business centre. It was set up as a series of private cubicles with ample room for you to use your own device. I got to work editing photos (I am perpetually running behind on trip reports) and had a couple of coffees whilst waiting for my flight. I got the benefits of the natural light whilst also enjoying a far greater degree of privacy and access to US power sockets.

The design of this lounge is mostly great and I really like the dedicated travel centre and the coffee.

The food selection is poor though and the area by the windows could definitely do with some privacy screens and tables to break the space up a bit.

Overall a decent, well run lounge but nothing worth arriving at the airport early for.
