I booked a flight through this company for a friend, but unfortunately, she had to cancel due to her fear of flying. Jason and Charles provided assistance, yet Delta's strict policies adversely affect customers. My name was misspelled on a ticket, resulting in a $355 fare increase due to rate changes. This experience is unreasonable. Despite Jason and Charles' efforts to rectify the error, a resolution proved elusive. Awarding 4 stars as a nod to their assistance, but future engagements with Delta are to be avoided.

They are a total scam! Never submitted a ticket and they tried to charge me 1500 after the initial purchase was 450. Total scam!!! Stay away! They offer to you a price. Once you give the CCredit Card details and pay for it, they tell you the ticket now is the double. You have to decide if paying the double for the ticket or pay them $120 for cancelation fee. They are "kidnapping" your credit card number and "blackmail" you with that. DON'T BUY ANYTHING HERE!!!!!!

Liars and cheaters

I bought expensive tickets from this company to Cuba. After paying, the lady informed me that I would have to wait about a month for the tickets. After a month, there were no tickets, so I wrote an inquiry. What the New FTC Crackdown on Fake Reviews May Mean for Travel

Regulators aim to curb digital chicanery. Their target: fake AI reviews, paid praise, and biased endorsements from influencers. But policing the sprawling review ecosystem may become a headache for many.

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission announced a rule Wednesday aiming to punish businesses for buying or selling fake reviews and endorsements – and there are plenty of implications for the travel industry.

It’s been a long-running problem in travel and an open secret for over a decade that many hoteliers post fake reviews, often by hiring third parties. The aim is either to make competitor properties look worse or improve their own online ratings. Fake reviews can be created and posted by businesses themselves or by hiring services for as little as a few dollars per review. AI tools promise to turbocharge the practice.

However, this new rule enables the FTC to seek civil penalties of up to $51,744 per violation, and the agency will start enforcing the rule within roughly two months.

The rule is targeted at a wide range of services – think restaurants – but the ruling will affect online review sites and travel agencies, hotel and short-term rental lodging providers, social media influencers, and other review generators.

Fake Reviews Create Legal Risk

The agency’s new rule prohibits the creation, purchase, or sale of fake reviews, including those generated by AI or individuals without genuine experience.

Travel agencies, travel booking platforms, travel price-comparison services, and blogs that fail to take reasonable steps to police fake reviews and endorsements could be held accountable.

“For far too long, the FTC hasn’t had the teeth it needed to crack down on individuals and groups authoring fake reviews, and the travel companies like hotels that may have been soliciting those fake reviews,” said Ben Beck, an assistant professor of marketing in the Marriott School of Business at Brigham Young University.

While most companies may embrace the goal of protecting consumers from sleight of hand, some will face a burden in trying to police reviews on their digital sites and apps. Rogue digital marketers constantly test new ways to game the system. And drawing the line between genuine and manufactured sentiment is tricky.

“It is unclear how far-reaching this responsibility (and resulting civil penalties for violation) will be – e.g., a fake review gets posted to a platform and then linked/posted at service providers website, etc.,” said Christopher Anderson, a professor at Cornell’s SC Johnson College of Business via email.

However, the Travel Tech Association, which represents online travel agencies and other intermediaries, said the agency had written the law to properly target bad actors. The penalties don’t single out tech platforms that carry content and make a good faith effort to vet it, the association said.

“Travel Tech welcomes the adoption of the commission’s proposed rules that appropriately target bad actors without significantly burdening honest businesses and provide benefits to consumers and honest competitors.”

Social Media Endorsements, Too

Social media influencers, bloggers, and others who are paid for endorsements may also be at legal risk if they don’t follow ethical practices.

The FTC has banned the practice of providing compensation or other incentives conditioned on posting reviews or endorsements, including via social media videos, with a desired sentiment.

“Fake reviews not only waste people’s time and money but also pollute the marketplace and divert business away from honest competitors,” said FTC chair Lina Khan in a statement.

Tough Problem to Fight

The problem is long-standing. Tripadvisor caught and removed 1.3 million reviews in 2022, mostly before the reviews were ever posted, it said. Google said it removed about 200 million pieces of fake content from its Maps app that year.

Tripadvisor said that it is “pleased to see that Tripadvisor’s approach to content integrity aligns with, and in some cases even goes beyond, the FTC’s new rule to ban fake reviews.”

Espresso machines can come with a pretty hefty price tag, so whether you're making an espresso for yourself, family or guests it should pull a perfectly crafted shot and suit your needs. This is why in our most recent roundup, we tested over 20 espresso makers and brewed more than 60 cups of espresso to find the best espresso machines. We tested many types of espresso machines, from super-automatic espresso makers to capsule machines and everything in between. We chose winners that level up the at-home espresso experience but left out machines that were more complicated and geared toward coffee hobbyists.

When it comes to testing espresso machines, we assess how well they make espresso consistently and how easy the machines are to use. We also note extra nice-to-have features such as built-in milk frothers and coffee bean grinders that add convenience but may not be necessary to make a great cup of espresso.

The name "Impress" says it all. Our pros were, in fact, impressed with this Breville machine. We loved it so much that we gave it a spot in our Kitchen Gear and Coffee Awards. It’s no surprise since Breville is a brand that consistently performs well in our Lab tests. This new machine takes making espresso drinks to a new level with a touchscreen that guides you through the drink-making process with images, tips and instructions. We were in awe that the machine told us how much espresso to brew and what temp to steam the milk. It produced a tasty espresso shot with a nice layer of crema.

If you choose not to use the preset drink-making options, you can adjust the grind size and water temperature to personalize your shot of espresso. In addition, there are eight settings for the amount of froth as well as temperature choices from 110 to 170 degrees for milk-based drinks like cappuccinos, so your drink can really be tailored to your preferences.

Feel like a true barista by manually frothing your milk, or there’s a hands-off option for days when you want more convenience. We were pleased that the espresso maker had options for the type of milk being frothed including dairy, almond, oat or soy milk. In our tests, we found the controls were responsive and easy to use. The machine parts were easy to take apart for a thorough cleaning, but most parts needed to be hand-washed.

Bottom line: The touch screen makes this machine easy to use for a beginner or expert. It's great for someone who wants a simple personalized shot of espresso or other drinks with no fuss or someone who wants to experiment with grind size and water temperature.

At around $130, the Café TS Touchscreen Espresso Machine is more affordable than many espresso machines, and it performed well in our Lab testing. Our experts appreciate that the machine pre-infuses the espresso grinds with water to saturate them before brewing. This helps to extract the grounds evenly, and in our tests, we found this led to a smooth extraction and a lot of crema on top of the espresso.

Surprisingly, for a lower-priced espresso machine, it has some nice extra features, like a warming plate on top to warm up your mug before pulling a shot. We found this model's touchscreen easy to navigate with two-shot, hot water and steam options. The included scoop ensures you measure out your grinds accurately each time you pull a shot. While this machine offers a steaming wand to whip up your favorite coffee shop beverage, you will need to purchase a steaming pitcher separately for whipping up frothed milk.

Bottom line: This is a good option for someone who doesn't want to spend hundreds of dollars and wants a basic espresso machine without a lot of extra features .

The intuitive LCD display allows you to choose from five temperatures and a whopping 30 grind sizes, and it shows grinding and extracting progress animations . The attached steam wand allows you to froth your milk exactly how you like it.

Like other Breville espresso machines , this model comes with two single-walled and two double-walled filters. The double-walled filters are great for producing a thick layer of crema even with older espresso beans or pre-ground coffee. We recommend playing around with the settings, starting with the defaults and then tweaking as you go to create your perfect espresso. All parts are easy to wash and wipe down, and in our tests, we were especially impressed with how quickly the system heated up compared to other models.

This super-automatic espresso maker is one of our favorite machines. It grinds your beans and produces excellent, hot espresso with a thin but creamy crema. We were particularly impressed with the unique milk hopper and frothing capabilities and found it easy to fill, attach and clean. Since it's detachable, you can store the unused milk in the fridge for later. When you choose a drink that incorporates milk, the machine indicates the frother setting and gives you time to select it from three options before frothing begins. How we test espresso machines

In the Good Housekeeping Institute Kitchen Appliances and Innovation Lab, we evaluate each espresso maker for ease of use, brew time, consistency, taste, temperature and noise level.

We've tested over 40 espresso machines across the last few decades to find the best ones for making great espresso at home. In our most recent test, we rounded up well over 20 espresso machines in the Lab, brewing more than 60 cups of espresso. Here's how we test.

• For performance, we test the temperature of multiple espressos in a row and time each one to evaluate if it's consistent.
• We also note the quality of the crema. Our experts taste the espresso to rate the flavor and body of each drink.

• If the machine includes a milk frother, we test it with both skim and oat milk to assess the quality of the frothing. Where applicable, we use the machine's preset options to make cappuccinos and lattes to assess the overall quality of the drink.
• When it comes to ease of use, our favorite machines are easy to set up, simple to use without a user manual, quick to heat up and reasonably fast to brew.

The best machines in our tests produced a hot, flavorful cup of espresso. Our favorite shots had nice depth and weren't too bitter or acidic and had a crema that was smooth without any noticeable air bubbles.

What to look for when shopping for the best espresso machine

An espresso machine is an investment — especially if you want one with all the bells and whistles. So it's important to consider the type that fits your needs.

✔️ Type : There are several ways to make espresso with manual, semi-automatic, automatic, super-automatic and pod machines all available to the home barista.

• Manual machines require finely ground beans that are scooped into a portafilter and tamped down. The filter is attached to the brew head and a lever is used to manually pull water through the grounds. It is the most customizable method but arguably the most difficult to master.

• Semi-automatic machines are similar to manual machines in terms of preparation, but they operate with a button or dial that automates the water flow instead of a lever, and the size of the brew is controllable.

• Automatic machines use a button instead of a lever to brew espresso. The size of the espresso or coffee drink is automated and often programmable. This method offers more consistency than a manual or semi-automatic machine, making them super easy to use. This style tended to nab top scores in Lab tests.

• Super-automatic machines are a step above automatic machines. In addition to automated and programmable coffee sizes, they can also grind beans, measure them out and often tamp them for you. These tended to be our favorite in Lab testing for their do-it-all performance.

• Capsule machines use pods filled with pre-measured coffee to make espresso or other coffee drinks. They offer the most consistency and hands-off ease of use.

✔️ Size: Consider how much space you have to allocate to your espresso maker. The more customizable ones are usually bigger, while the smaller ones are typically more straightforward with fewer brewing options.

✔️ Price: A good espresso maker with features like a built-in grinder and multiple drink options can be expensive; a simple machine is usually more affordable. However, some espresso machines that seem straightforward can be costly due to higher-quality materials and more effective heaters, milk frothers or technology.

✔️ Pressure: The amount of pressure exerted upon coffee grounds is measured by BARs or barometric pressure. While some machines will have up to 19 BARs, a machine that exerts around 7 to 11 BARs of pressure into the espresso will produce a good extraction.

Extra nice-to-have options for the best espresso machines

✔️ Coffee grinder: Grinding your coffee beans right before pulling a shot is ideal for a good cup of espresso. Espresso machines with built-in coffee grinders are convenient, reduce some mess and ensure you have freshly ground coffee beans each time. One downside is that built-in grinders are hard to fix if they break and often lead people to purchase an entirely new machine.

✔️ Milk frother: There are two common types of milk frothers: a hand-frothing wand that requires manual milk frothing in a pitcher or an attached milk container that the machine utilizes to froth milk and add it directly into your cup. With a manual frothing wand, you can practice your latte art, but it does take some practice to learn how to froth milk properly right from the start. An attached milk container with automatic frothing takes out all the guesswork, giving you a cappuccino at the right temperature with a good amount of foam automatically. ✔️ Clean-up: Depending on the model, espresso machines tend to be easy to clean. Some super-automatic machines take the work out of routine cleaning, while more manual machines require daily cleaning of the portafilter, milk frother and more. Some super-automatic machines have milk containers that connect to the machine with a straw, which can be tricky to clean, and large drip trays that can be cumbersome. You will also need to descale your machine every couple of months (or as recommended by the manufacturer) to ensure your espresso machine is operating properly and your coffee is tasting great.

How espresso machines work

Espresso makers work by using pressure to quickly push hot water through a tightly packed portafilter of finely ground coffee. The added pressure and fast brew time are what create the espresso's thicker consistency and crema layer.

The espresso's look and taste are influenced by many different factors. Some of these factors include the type of coffee used and how tightly it's packed, grind size, water temperature, pressure and more. Because all of these can vary, each shot can be highly customizable depending on the machine.

Home baristas who like to try different coffees and experiment with their settings may want to choose a machine with more options, whereas those not looking to hone in their coffee settings may want a more automated machine.

TOTAL FRAUD…this company is total fraud I checked fare on their site (SFO-BLR)and they had App only fare. I downloaded the app and it still showed me the fare that was published online. I paid for the ticket and received a confirmation number and said ticket will be issued in few minutes. I didn’t get the ticket…. I called them and and they said their fare went 2&1/2 times after it was booked. So wanted me to pay more and wanted credit card details over the phone…. Scam !Scam this company stole my money…

Scam !Scam this company stole my money and it’s asking for more money after they send me a txt on my flight confirmation. My family and are supposed to fly out in the middle of July and booked our ticket through Travelmakers to find out they never scheduled our flights even though we paid them and they dare to asked for more money. Our family vacation has been canceled and now we’re having to fight back for our money .

Scammers. I misdialed the Southwest number by one digit and ended up with these guys. He asked for our Rapid Rewards number and the Password. Changed the Password. We bought two tickets which he bought using our Rewards and also charged our card. In the end when we saw his email, it was not from Southwest. Then we realized that they are third party. Our tickets ended up costing us twice as much as it would have been with Southwest directly. I am surprised that there is no law enforcement action against these guys for misleading the public. AVOID THIS COMPANY. The Traver Makers, PCM Travels and whatever other names they go by. Deal directly with the airlines.

This is a SCAM SITE!

This is a SCAM SITE!! I booked a flight to Miami for $259 CAD per person for 5 members of my family on Mar 25. I received a confirmation email. Then I received a call the next day saying the flight was not available. They tried to change my destination and make me pay $400 more, meaning a $2,200 CAD price increase overall including tx. They told me it was a “promotional price and was no longer available”. So, we decided to refuse their offer and had to cancel our Easter holidays in Florida. Fortunately, they did not charge my credit card at least.. yet. But I look at it regurlarly just to make sure as it happened to other customers apparently. So in summmary, they asked me to pay $2,200 more to get my flight that THEY ADVERTISED on jetcost.ca!! No way. An ABSOLUTE SCAM!! On top of this they were still showing a price of $317 this morning while they told me over the phone yesterday the best price they could get was $684. So they are still confusing and misguiding people on their web site volontarily. This is wrong doing. This is not TravelMakers afterall they should rename themselves TroubleMakers. No need for this in our lives.

They are scammers. (Pablo )Gave me one price for a ticket from Halifax to Delhi. I received an email confirming the itinerary and price at 1950. I agreed and confirmed to issue the ticket. I then received a message and call from another agent (Gary) who insisted that I purchase the ticket from him at a price 2,000. Reluctantly i said ok, Then they (gary) changed the price to 2184. I could not believe it. By this time i just wanted to get it done. after his assurance that i will only pay through credit card and through a secured site, i said ok. they (Gary) changed the price to 2584. by this point i realize that they are scammers, lure you with a lower price and keep raising the price. at that point, i refused to pick up their calls. They kept on giving me calls (5 calls). Over the email.I asked twice why the ticket booked for me at 1950 was not getting issued, and got no response. Pablo indicated that he can not go against his colleague, who sure sounded like an aggressive salesman over the phone, and as per Pablo, asked him not to issue me the ticket. this seems like their modus operendi. Be very very careful. Please also note that tarvelmakers and theflightmakers.us and thetravelmakers.com are same company (PCM Travels), using two different websites.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

At the time of writing this company is refusing me my refund back as the airline has cancelled my flight. There terms and conditions state that they will refund, the airline has refunded my other booking for the same flight (booked with a much more reputable company). Trust is so important on the online world of ecommerce and as a customer we get used to what we think in the norm. However in thus case, Lloyd from The travel makers, went above and beyond to have my tickets issued for an important family gathering. I was worried about the cost, timings, length of time in ticket issuance, my family repeatedly asking me if the tickets have arrived, the euros football going on and everything seemed like s perfect storm, worrying if this was to happen? However, reassuringly, Lloyd came to the rescue and managed to reserve, confirm and issue the tickets and my family and I do assure you, that you can also receive a travel agent service you will be happy with. Especially in the busy summer season with so much demand and prices fluctuating constantly. Have a good trip!

Jeff (Sr. Travel Associate), is a very friendly and competent travel agent and guided me through my application very efficiently and thoroughly. He was very communicative and delivered on his word. At the time of writing this company is refusing me my refund back as the airline has cancelled my flight. There terms and conditions state that they will refund, the airline has refunded my other booking for the same flight (booked with a much more reputable company).
