Despite a 101-run third-wicket partnership between Pradosh Ranjan Paul (70, 108b, 6×4) and Daryl S. Ferrario (40, 61b, 2×4), Tamil Nadu lost the third ODI against Bangladesh XI by 19 runs in the match. Bangladesh tour of Tamil Nadu in M.A. Chidambaram Stadium here on Thursday.

Bcb President Nazmul Hassan Slams Bangladesh’s Mentality After ‘very Ugly’ Dismissals

Electing to bat first, Bangladesh will have to deal with the bounce the wicket gives. Anamul Haque Bijoy (42, 44b, 3×4, 2×6), off the edge between the keeper and centre-back, looks a good touch. TN bowlers tried to confuse him with short balls but he was good at pulling the ball. He misses the pull and hits the body before pulling the next delivery to deep midwicket for four R.S. Jagannath Sinivas.

He was hit on his helmet on the very next ball after pulling Rahul Dev up to deep square leg for a six. He flicked it to a Trilok Nag bouncer which missed the keeper for a bye.

But unfortunately he was rejected by surprise. He does enough for Trilok’s full throw and pulls out his stump! The ball seems to have disappeared from Trilok’s hands. He got a six to deep mid-wicket in the previous delivery.

Then, a brilliant 64-run seventh-wicket stand between Tawhid Hridoy (66, 74b, 2×4, 2×6) and Taijul Islam (19) helped Bangladesh reach 220 – to accumulate runs. Tawhid ducked a single to left-arm spinner S. Ajith Ram past the midwickets for four. Later, he hit Ajith Ram to deep mid-on and cow corner for a six.

Tamil Nadu never had complete control. R. S. Mokit Hariharan lived precariously before he was fired. He fell twice – a jump in the middle could not hold and had to turn and run and try to catch. The second is a difficult moment.

Even though Pradosh and Daryl had a great partnership, they never kept TN up to the required rate that eventually made it big. It was a phase when the duo tried hard to score and improve their run rate. That’s when skier Pradosh was felled in the middle.

Bangladesh were also sloppy with the rebounds. There are some opportunities that could lead to breakouts if there are tight and sharp bouts.

Mohammad Saif Hasan was injured and taken off. He chased the ball very fast towards the boundary and was suddenly pulled and brought down as if in pain. After the match, coach Mizanur Rahman said that he has strained his hamstring and will be examined.

Speaking to Cricbuzz, Karthik believes Shahbaz is a special player, so it will be interesting to see how he fares in the 50 overs in Bangladesh.

“I’m really looking forward, obviously, I’m very keen to see how KL Rahul fits into the middle order and how Virat Kohli goes, because he’s coming back from rest and an amazing World Cup.” , but I also like to see Shahbaz Ahmed. I think he is a special player; he did very well for RCB, against South Africa; he did well and I am really looking forward to see him go in this ODI series.”

“When it comes to Tests, it’s obviously about playing left-arm spin; they’ve got some there. They end up bowling a lot, so it comes down to the credentials of who we played the spin. well.”

The Indian player also said that the Tigers will get a lot of crowd support against India, because of how intense they are in their game. Karthik added:

“I’m sure Bangladesh will be one of those countries when they tour India where the whole team has more support than India, and that’s something that’s rare to see in international cricket, and it’s good to see too because they have a lot of numbers and support in Bangladesh, and I really enjoy that fact about them, and every time you play it, you can see the intensity of their game; they try to raise their game, which is always nice to see.

Program led by MK Stalin helps 100 Tamil NRI students trace roots back to homes

'verkalai thedi', (reaching out to the roots) program helped 100 tamil nri students around the world trace back to their roots in their home state..

Listen to Story

A hundred students from across the World were brought to Tamil Nadu through ‘Verkalai Thedi’.

A hundred students from across the world traced their roots back to Tamil Nadu through 'Verkalai Thedi' (Reaching out to the Roots) program on Thursday. The program was initiated by Chief Minister MK Stalin as a way to help non-resident Indian (NRI) Tamil students trace back their roots to their homes and understand their culture.

Ratika from Fiji Islands, working in Airport Operations, said that her journey to Tamil Nadu was emotionally overwhelming as she discovered her uncle after 96 years of separation from the family.

"I managed to reconnect with my roots. Through social media and Tamil Sangam community in Fiji, I found out about the Tamil Nadu government program, and it truly was an overwhelming experience," she said.

Reminiscing, she noted that sitting down and having food with her loved ones in her home state was the best experience.

Under the program, every year, 200 students from around the world will be brought to their home state for a cultural tour to help them learn about their culture.

Krishnamurthy, the commissioner of Rehabilitation and Non-Residents Tamil Department, said that the program is a way to cement strong ties with other nations by making the participants ambassadors of Tamil culture.

“The Tamil society is one of the largest societies settled abroad. To strengthen and reinforce the umbilical cord relationship with them, this scheme was introduced by Chief Minister MK Stalin. Students were particularly chosen, especially beyond second generation of Tamil origin living abroad, and we used Tamil Sangam to map them out," Krishnamurthy noted.

"A 14 day cultural tour was created for them to visit various significant places in Tamil Nadu. 100 students from 15 countries, some travelling for more than 2.15 lakh km have participated in the program”, he added, claiming that the participants were enthusiastic to experiencing the Tamil hospitality and culture.

20-year-old Privani from South Africa is another beneficiary of the program. Privani studies optometry away from her native land and said that being back in her country was something incomparable.

“It is a true blessing. Even though we separated so many years ago, there are a lot of similarities between us," she said. "I found a new connection with my heritage and I fell in love with the language. I want to be more experienced in the cultural art forms of the state now."
