Wu-Tang will perform at Virgin Hotel’s theater with two back to back dates on Feb. 9-10, with the Super Bowl kicking off at the city’s Allegiant Stadium on Feb. 11. The Staten Island natives will return to the venue the following month in time for March Madness, the NCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament, on March 22 and 24. Wu-Tang’s March Madness performances fall on the first and second round of eliminations during the annual tournament.

Fans looking to purchase tickets for the rap group’s Las Vegas residency can do so starting today at 12 p.m. PST via pre-sale using the code CREAM, a nod to their hit of the same name. General onsale for the residency starts at 10 a.m. PST on Dec. 15, making it a perfect last minute gift for Christmas. Tickets for the residency are being sold through AXS; find them here .

Wu-Tang Clan ‘Adding Flavor’ to Las Vegas With ‘Groundbreaking’ Residency

Some hip-hop icons are coming to Las Vegas . On Tuesday, Wu-Tang Clan announced that it will be hosting a “Wu-Tang Clan: The Saga Continues…The Las Vegas Residency” at the Theater at Virgin Hotels in Vegas next year.

The group will arrive in Vegas in time for Super Bowl weekend, with their first performances slated for Feb. 9 and 10. They’ll return for a second round of shows March 22 and 23. Tickets for the four concerts are set to go on sale Friday, Dec. 15 at 10 a.m. PT, with presales starting Tuesday at noon PT.

“Vegas has always served as a hub for art, entertainment and good times,” RZA said in a statement. “Wu-Tang is delighted to add our flavor of art and hip-hop into the mix. Virgin + Wu-Tang = Triumph.”

The “Saga Continues” residency — named after the group’s 2013 album — comes after Nas and Wu-Tang Clan co-headlined the two-year New York State of Mind Tour. “It was the best-case scenario for a trio of acts that started rapping before some of today’s hottest rappers were even born,” read a Rolling Stone review of the show (which also featured Busta Rhymes). The tour ended in late October in California.

Wu-Tang Clan announces first Las Vegas residency in 2024: See the dates

Wu-Tang Clan is heading to Las Vegas for its first-ever Sin City residency.

The Grammy-nominated hip-hop group made the announcement Tuesday on social media . Wu-Tang Clan: The Saga Continues… The Las Vegas Residency will take place Feb. 9-10, which is Super Bowl weekend , and during March Madness on March 22-23 at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas in Nevada.

"This residency is more than a concert – it serves as a tribute to their prolific careers as individuals and as the most storied group in hip-hop history," reads Virgin Hotels' press release.

Artist pre-sale for the shows (code: CREAM) started noon Tuesday on AXS' website . AEG and AXS pre-sales begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday. On Friday, general public tickets will become available at 10 a.m. PST.

The Staten Island-born group's leader, rapper and producer RZA, told The New York Times that the project has been in the works for around five years.

"Hip-hop is rich in its content and what it offers creatively to an audience," he said, adding that the nine-member group wants "to put it on flagpoles to show that hip-hop can go where any other art form has gone before."

He also hopes to "eventually invite more hip-hop artists to come and play in this sandbox with us," RZA said of performing in Las Vegas.

This year – which marks the 50th anniversary of hip-hop – Wu-Tang Clan performed with Nas in Australia, Europe and North American on the N.Y. State of Mind Tour. RZA, GZA, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, U-God, Masta Killa, Inspectah Deck, Cappadonna and Ol' Dirty Bastard (who died in 2004) founded the group in the early 1990s. They've been touring since "Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)" debuted in 1993.

Shania Twain will also begin another Las Vegas residency next year, starting May 10 at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino's Bakkt Theater.

R&B group New Edition's residency at Wynn Las Vegas kicks off Feb. 28. Garth Brooks' residency at Caesars Palace will re-commence in April.

Wu-Tang Clan will bring the Shaolin to Sin City in 2024 with a concert residency at Las Vegas, Nevada’s The Theater at Virgin Hotels .

Billed as The Saga Continues: The Las Vegas Residency , the initial announcement is comprised of four shows. The first two are set to take place over Super Bowl weekend (Friday, February 9th and Saturday, February 10th), when the city is set to host the big game at Allegiant Stadium for the first time. The next two are scheduled during March Madness (Friday, March 22nd and Saturday, March 23rd), another weekend that often bring an influx of travelers to the desert gambling oasis.

While the four announced dates place Wu-Tang Clan’s run on the shorter end of the typical Las Vegas residency spectrum, the group and the venue appear to have plenty of open dates with which it could scale the stint’s length to match audience demand.

Wu-Tang Clan has in recent years hosted various live performances featuring shifting combinations of its living members, RZA , GZA , Method Man , Raekwon the Chef , Ghostface Killah , Inspectah Deck , U-God , Masta Killa , and Cappadonna . It is unclear which members will be on hand for the Las Vegas residency shows.

Group leader RZA, real name  Robert Diggs , told  The New York Times that the residency had been in the works for roughly five years and that he hopes it entices other rappers to become a part of the vibrant Las Vegas entertainment industry. Read more from RZA on the residency here .

As a true Wu Tang fanatic since the age of 12, it was inevitable that I would eventually make it to a Wu Tang concert. Albeit wouldn't be until 2018 for their 25th year anniversary of 36 chambers tour, but alas, I made it! It was in Washington DC and it was an older crowd but the energy was alive and it was there. The whole clan was there, Young Dirty Bastard, ODB's son is now touring in his late father's place but delivers the same hype energy that only the Ole dirt dog could bring. Redman was an opening act, which was amazing. Although they had told us all while in the line that there would be no weed smoking or the perpetrators would be removed, as soon as "How to Roll a Blunt" came on all you could smell was that sweet cheeba cheeba. Security threw their hands up and said it's too many people smoking and just let us partake in the bonding that only Mary Jane can induce. The rest of the night was a smash. The group preformed the album in order and you could feel the nostalgia in the air as the audience rapped along to every word. Including me a white girl from Maryland who was finally living one of her teenage dreams and FINALLY seeing her favorite rap group of all time perform live. There was no disappointment, only pure unfiltered joy and love. Now if only I could have my dream of smoking a blunt with Method Man. Then I could die happy. That's always been something I've wanted to do since 13. I am now 40. Meth, what's the math? I am praying that I can go see this concert when they will play with another living legend, Nas. Yasss....I want those vip tickets and I NEED to be as close to the stage as possible, so my Boyz will see this chicken rap along to every single word. And I am hoping they will see my wutang tat that immortalized them as well as my bestfriend/brothafromanothamotha, who was an EVEN bigger WuTang fanatic than me!!!! If yall want a good show go see this!! And feel free to take me with you!!!!!

Vancouver show was disappointing would have liked to see inspectah deck and method man show was good but it could have been better not mad that they no showed but just disappointed don't really feel like i saw wu tang just got to see raekwon ghostface cappadonna u-god GZA RZA idk was pretty lack luster without method man and inspectah deck.

I’ve been vibin’ with Wu-Tang since 1993 and it has been a dream of mine to see them live. Last night I finally had the chance and let me tell you, they did not disappoint! Sad to have missed Method Man, but I understand he has a project he is working on and couldn’t make it. ODBs son did a great job representing his father. It was an amazing show!

RZA Unveils Title Track from His First Classical Album “A Ballet Through Mud”

Legendary artist and Wu-Tang Clan visionary RZA has announced the release of the title track of his highly anticipated classical composition,  A Ballet Through Mud . This original orchestration, produced in collaboration with Platoon and 36 Chambers, is set to become available on all streaming platforms on August 30th, marking a significant departure from RZA’s storied hip-hop roots into the realm of classical music.

“A Ballet Through Mud”  is not just an album; it’s a deeply personal coming-of-age story that traverses the complexities of love, friendship, and personal growth. Originally performed by the Colorado Symphony, the composition weaves an emotional tapestry that resonates with both the highs and lows of life’s journey.

RZA found inspiration for this project during the global pandemic. While in lockdown, he stumbled upon old lyrical notebooks he had filled as a teenager. These early musings, brimming with raw emotion and youthful insight, sparked the creation of what would become his first classical album. The project grew into a ballet, which was brought to life on stage in 2023.

The album features characters named after Greek musical scales, echoing RZA’s own journey from the project housing of Staten Island to the refined concert halls where this work now resides. The narrative, filled with themes of love, loss, and exploration, is also infused with RZA’s deep philosophical reflections, drawing heavily from his journey into Chan Buddhism. The result is a piece that oscillates between idealism and orchestration while remaining grounded in its universal appeal.

“I have been composing my whole life, although I didn’t know initially that was what I was doing,” RZA shared. “The inspiration for  ‘A Ballet Through Mud’  comes from my earliest creative output as a teenager, but its themes are universal—love, exploration, and adventure. I hope people use it to score their own lives, to transform a drive to the grocery store or sharing a meal with loved ones into something magical, to be inspired and let their imaginations take them into a different chamber, if only for a moment.”

Each track invites the listener to explore different emotional landscapes, while the title track,  “A Ballet Through Mud,” encapsulates the essence of the album’s narrative—finding beauty and growth even in the most challenging of circumstances.

The composition, produced and composed by RZA, was performed by the Colorado Symphony under the baton of conductor Christopher Dragon. The album was mixed and mastered by Pietro Rossi, with additional orchestration provided by Ming-Hsueh Lin, Scott O’Neil, Tan Onwimon, and Joseph Colmenero. The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus contributed the Dolby Atmos Mix, ensuring a rich, immersive listening experience. The original performance was choreographed by Yusha-Marie Sorzano, with intimacy direction by Sarah Lozoff.

This project marks RZA’s first collaboration with Platoon, and it is a testament to his versatility as an artist. The full album,  A Ballet Through Mud , will be officially available to stream on August 30th via Platoon.

As RZA continues to break boundaries and redefine genres,  A Ballet Through Mud  stands as a powerful testament to his creative evolution—a piece that invites listeners to embark on their own journey through life’s trials and triumphs, guided by the transformative power of music.

STL GLD’s free hip-hop festival returns to City Hall Plaza this weekend with Ghostface Killah

The wu-tang clan rapper joins the boston hip-hop group and more local stars for the second annual gld fstvl.

The members of the Boston hip-hop group STL GLD have plenty to celebrate this weekend. Besides hosting the second annual GLD FSTVL at City Hall Plaza on Saturday, the group will be marking its own 10th anniversary.

They’re the only group that was also on the bill for last year’s inaugural event, which was planned in conjunction with the Mayor’s Office of Arts & Culture to coincide with the 50th anniversary of hip-hop . This year’s festival, headlined by Ghostface Killah, the storytelling, kung fu-inspired core member of the legendary Wu-Tang Clan, will feature Boston artists Cakeswagg, Michael Christmas, Dutch ReBelle, and more.

The “no repeats” formula is by design, according to STL GLD’s Moe Pope.

“The hope is it’s ever-changing,” said Pope. “We don’t ever want to tell people they can’t come back if we’re so blessed to keep doing this, but we also have to open doors for other people as well. Before we start repeating, we want to try to set a precedent.”

There are plenty of outstanding, Boston-based hip-hop artists who have faced difficulties getting booked to perform in live venues, Pope noted. GLD FSTVL came together in part to showcase them.

“Our art form doesn’t often get propped up on the same pedestal as others,” Pope said. “But that’s what I’m here for.”

It helps that Billy Dean Thomas, who is the Wu administration’s engagement manager for City Hall Plaza, is also a hip-hop artist. Thomas, nicknamed “The Queer B.I.G.,” performed at last year’s festival.

“The more we have artists, musicians, and hip-hop artists in positions where decisions are being made, I think the world is a better place for it,” Pope explained.

At last year’s event, attendance was estimated around 2,000 at any given time, Pope revealed, with many more than that coming through over the course of the day.

This year, the daylong festival begins at noon. Attendance is free, but registration is encouraged . There will be food trucks, a beer garden, retail vendors, hip-hop dance from the Floor Lords, and more.

Fans at this year’s Boston Calling may have caught Cakeswagg’s exuberant cheerleading act. Michael Christmas has been making idiosyncratic hip-hop — and occasional jokes at alternative comedy shows — for more than a decade now. The veteran rapper ReBelle seems like a particularly apt booking this year: She was once described as the lovechild of Lauryn Hill and the festival’s headliner, Ghostface.

Between live performances, a lineup of DJs, including DCaso, TROY Frost, and BREK.ONE (the in-arena DJ for the Celtics), will keep the music spinning. Melisa Valdez , whose voice can be heard at TD Garden during Celtics games, will emcee the event, adding to the festival’s green vibe.

“What a magical year,” Pope said of the Celtics’ championship run.

Pope first approached the city about the possibility of hosting a festival inspired by good memories of past hip-hop performances at City Hall Plaza . For several years, the Menino administration sponsored those events, bringing old-school hip-hop masters such as Slick Rick and De La Soul to town.

Pope is thrilled that the city is once again invested in celebrating the art form he’s devoted his life to.

“It’s very clear that when you don’t put any love into the arts, it takes away from the culture of your city,” Pope said. “You don’t have any heart or balance.”

As GLD FSTVL ramps up for its second year and hip-hop heads into its second half-century, the balance has been tipped.
