HANUMANTIYA TAPU

One of the best tourist places in Khandwa for lovers of water sports, Hanumantiya Tapu is a wonderful island near Khandwa. The place is developed by Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation and forms a great spot to enjoy the famous backwaters of Indira Sagar Dam.

Hanumantiya Tapu is one of the most popular tourist destinations of Khandwa for its water activities. Recently, the place has been developed as a great sightseeing adventure by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Centre. Being located at a distance of 47 kilometres from the mainland of Khandwa, reaching Hanumantiya Tapu is now more accessible with well-developed transportation routes.

Locals of the nearby villages and locations plan their weekends here to enjoy the Indira Sagar Dam’s retreating backwaters. This island surprises you with its cruising, Floating Fantasy, trekking, bird watching, and botanical trail adventures. A simple stroll through the surrounding region will introduce you to the wildlife that thrives in here. Peacocks, black storks, a small cormorant, and European Ostray are pure delights for all the avid bird observers.

Loaded with heaps of undulating terrains, the freshwater island of Hanumantiya Tapu sends an open invitation to all the trekking freaks. The twists and turns of these undulating terrains make it a perfect spot for all cycling enthusiasts to challenge their skills here.

Nagchun Dam, Ghantaghar, Dada Dhuni Wale Darbar, Gauri Kunja, Tulja Bhavani Mata Temple, Nav Chandni Devi Dham, Indira Sagar Dam, and Sailani Island are some other key attractions of Khandwa.

How To Reach

By Rail - Khandwa Railway Station is the nearest station to reach the Hanumantiya Tapu. This railway station is well-connected by trains coming from India’s financial capital city. From here, you can get a private cab service or local bus to drop you at the Hanumantiya Tapu.

By Road – Road connectivity is reasonably good at Hanumantiya Tapu. Khandwa and Indore are its nearby towns featuring good roads for safe transportation to the Hanumantiya Tapu. The chauffeur-driven cab is the best option to reach here from Indore.

By Bus - Indore provides private and state-run bus services to drop you at the Khandwa Bus Station.

Best Time To Visit

The island of Hanumantiya is easily accessible for all 365 days of the year. Boat riding, cruising, or Floating Fantasy are the main experiences to enjoy here. These activities are only possible when the level of dam water is present at a sufficient level. Thus, peak summers and monsoons should be avoided as much as possible. This is because, during the summer, the water level may drop below the average level required for a boating adventure.

On the other hand, during the monsoons, the water level may rise higher than expected. So, prefer to visit the Hanumantiya Tapu anywhere between October to April. This is the period when you can expect a pleasing atmospheric condition here. For your convenience, here’s a seasonal break sheet –

Summers – April to June marks the summers at Hanumantiya Tapu where you can expect the temperature to rise as high as 45 degrees.

Monsoons – Hanumantiya Tapu experiences its winter season between July to October.

Winters – Winters here extends between November and March. With a temperature range of 5 to 18 degrees, this is the most ideal season to plan your visit at the Hanumantiya Tapu.
