We had our Japan Visa processed by Discovery Tours last year. I am perfectly satisfied by their service. First off, among the other accredited travel agencies, they charge the least expensive for the single entry visa - only 750 compared to 1500 and up from others. They were also very patient with all kinds of questions over the phone. Plus, when you go there the service is quick!

For anyone who intends to travel to Japan as a tourist, the first thing you need to know is that you cannot go straight to the embassy to file your visa application. They require you to go through a travel agency to do the filing for you. This is actually not a bad idea - first off, it lessens the leg work required to get all your documents. A single trip to a travel agency can already help you understand what you need to submit, so no need to go back and forth. When I did my research on this, the Japanese embassy in the Philippines had a list of accredited providers. I did inquire with several of them and chose to go with Discovery Tours. First, they were the most accessible being along Dela Costa Street in Makati. Second, they were the most exhaustive when discussing the visa requirements. Third, their website provided all that you needed to know about the requirements and the application process, even the time it would take to finish everything. Finally, despite being able to provide all the necessary services, they are also priced the lowest for the processing fee. They charge P800 per person (others charge between P1200 and P2500 per person)if you are applying for a tourist visa via walk-in. If you want your visa application to be done through courier pick up, they can arrange it, too. If you are going as a group of 3 or more, they even give you a discount. We did the walk-in application and got our visas in less than a week. During pick up, the Japanese owner even talked to us. He was so friendly and had a lot to share about our intended destination (Tokyo). If I go back to Japan, I would definitely use their services again. BTW, they are also able to make tour arrangements for you if you need help with that.

The 3G: God, Gold, & Glory Tour is our basic tour program and takes 3 hours to complete. It covers the basics of Philippine history and culture, particularly the foundation of the Philippines as a colony through Spain’s conquest of our islands. We go through the entire Spanish Colonial history of the Philippines and explain why the Spanish colonial experience is the root of many Filipino cultural idiosyncrasies. Basically, this tour will tell you why the Filipinos are the way they are today.

The 3GX: God, Gold, & Glory EXTENDED Tour on the other hand, is our best-selling program and takes 4.5 hours to complete. It is an upgraded version of the 3G tour and covers ALL of the major segments of Philippine history from the Spanish Colonial Era, to the American Era, all the way to World War II in the Philippines. It is everything the basic 3G Tour is, and more! This is the tour to take if you love history.

Client Reviews

Oh my goodness… I can’t rate this tour highly enough! Although I would consider this an amazing educational walk with a friend. Dustin simply knows his history like the back of his hand and after recalling some of my new found knowledge to a colleague, she felt like she had been on the tour with me, so well done to you Dustin as I feel privileged to have learnt it from such an inspiring individual who is passionate about history, his heritage and his clientele!!!

Day 2 Manila (Breakfast)

After breakfast, take a half-day city tour of Old Manila.

The tour starts with a drive through Roxas Boulevard to Rizal Park, named in honor of the country’s national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal. After a brief stop for pictures, proceed to the Walled City of Intramuros to visit the remnants of Spain’s conquistadors. Travel through the cobbled streets to San Agustin Church, the country’s oldest stone church, and view its wide collection of ecclesiastical icons, vestments and other religious articles.

Across it is Casa Manila, a reproduction of a 19th century house equipped with oriental and European décor, as well as Philippine antique furniture. Then proceed to Fort Santiago, Manila’s main line of defense against invaders from the sea. It is a stone fort guarding the entrance to the city from Manila Bay and has been the site of many tragic moments in Philippine history.

From Fort Santiago, drive on to Manila’s central district, Quiapo, often referred to as the heart of Manila with its market, pilgrimage church of the Black Nazarene, jeepney terminals and bazaars.

Then, proceed to the Chinese cemetery, the only one of its kind in the world, where the mausoleums are as big and as elaborate as houses, and where the fusion of eastern religions and the Christian faith are very evident. End the tour with a short sightseeing tour of the bustling financial and commercial district of Makati City.

In the afternoon, proceed to shopping either at Asia’s 2nd largest mall – Mall of Asia – or Greenhills Shopping Center, a mecca for those in search for electronics, mobile phones, and latest jewelry fashion trends at the most affordable prices.

Pulutan Philippines Cuisine

Pulutan (from the Filipino word pulutin which literally means "something that is picked up") is a term roughly analogous to the English term "finger food". Originally, it was a snack accompanied with liquor or beer but has found its way into Philippine cuisine as appetizers or, in some cases, main dishes, as in the case of sisig.

According to your flight schedule, your guide will pick you up and bring you to Manila Airport, where you will board your domestic flight to Bohol. Bohol-Panglao International Airport is located on the island of Panglao, and the main transportation hub to the natural wonders of Boho l.

Upon arrival at the airport, your guide will pick you up to bring you to your hotel for check-in. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.

Bohol is a main island located in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines. It offers a wide range of options for travelers, from natural attractions to cultural heritage sites and unique island activities. In addition to the cute bug-eyed tarsiers and the majestic Chocolate Hills, there's much more to experience, such as white sand beaches, world-class dive sites, dolphin and whale shark watching, and the generally laid-back provincial of Panglao Island, these are what give Bohol its unique charm.

Bohol Island

Start your day with a visit to Bohol's first church, the historic Baclayon Church . Built from coral stone, this prime example of Baroque architecture in the Philippines features intricate designs and beautiful frescoes. It's a must-visit destination for anyone interested in the rich cultural heritage of Bohol.

Next, you'll board a floating restaurant and enjoy a delicious meal while cruising down the clean and picturesque Loboc River . As you take in the natural surroundings and enjoy a cultural show by the locals, you'll feel a sense of peace and tranquility that is hard to find in the city.

After lunch, you'll drive through the Man-Made Forest , a two-kilometer stretch of road lined with towering mahogany trees that make for the perfect photo opportunity. Then, it's on to the Corella Tarsier Sanctuary, home to the world's smallest primates, the tarsiers, which are known for their large eyes and unique ability to rotate their heads up to 180 degrees. Watch the cute tarsiers sleep in tree branches and lazily lounge about, but be sure not to touch or disturb them.

Finally, you'll head to the famous Chocolate Hills , over a thousand cone-shaped hills that turn brown during the dry season, giving them the appearance of chocolate mounds. From the viewing deck, you'll marvel at the breathtaking view of this unique natural wonder, and the hills' unusual shape will leave you wondering about their origin.

Tarsier Sanctuary, Bohol

Your guide will pick you up early in the morning at your hotel. You will then be transferred to the boat docking area where you will start your island-hopping tour of Balicasag and Virgin Islands .

Your first activity for the day is dolphin watching and searching on the way to Balicasag Island . This area teems with diverse marine wildlife, including at least seven different species of wild whales and countless wild dolphins. Take note t hat seeing dolphins is not guaranteed. If you are lucky, you might see these creatures jumping up close.

After that, you'll head to Balicasag Island. Balicasag Island is a must-visit destination in the Philippines for all nature and marine life lovers. Its stunning 3000-feet-deep fault, known as the deepest and most beautiful underwater cliff in Asia, is a natural wonder that draws tourists from all over the world. During your visit to Balicasag Island, you will have the opportunity to go snorkeling at the "Rose Coral Garden," an area surrounded by countless colorful coral reefs and tropical fish. Even without diving, you can see a variety of marine creatures, tropical fish, and sea turtles.

Next, head to the natural ecological protected island of Virgin Island (Note: Not accessible during high tide, the tour guide will check the tide time beforehand). As the tide recedes, the beautiful Virgin Island gradually emerges in front of you, with a pure crescent-shaped white sandbar in the middle of the sea that makes you feel like you are in a dreamland. You can stroll through this natural wonder and pick up various starfish and sea urchins that are scattered on the sand. Some of the starfish are so big that they will leave you amazed! After island-hopping, you will have lunch onboard a board or at an island restaurant.

Lastly, you'll be transferred back to your hotel to rest.

Kindly note that some activities may be subject to change due to weather conditions. Your safety is our top priority, and we may need to reschedule or cancel activities in case of unfavorable weather conditions such as strong winds. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we ensure a safe and enjoyable island-hopping experience.

Dolphin Watching around Balicasag Island, Bohol

After breakfast, your guide will pick you up at your hotel and drive (about a 1-hour drive) to Lila town on Panglao Island. And then board a boat for a unique experience of swimming with whale sharks - the largest sharks and fish in the world, typically measuring 9-12 meters in length. The largest individuals can reach up to 20 meters in length and weigh up to 12,500 kg, making them the largest fish species. Whale sharks are known for their gentle nature, slow swimming speed, and often sunbathing at the water's surface. When you have the opportunity to get up close and personal with them, play with them and take pictures, you'll add an unforgettable memory to your extraordinary life. After swimming with the whale sharks, you will be transferred back to your hotel. Take note that seeing whale sharks during this tour is NOT GUARANTEED. Whale sharks are migratory animals, and even during the whale shark season, there is a possibility that you may not encounter one during your tour.

Optional Evening Activity: Have a magical experience with the Abatan River or Loay River firefly watching tour during sunset. Usually around 5:30-6:00 pm.

Lila Whale Shark Watching, Bohol

On this day, you will have some free time in Bohol until your guide and driver will escort you to the airport/port for your flight or boat/ferry to your next destination.

Thank you for choosing Philippines Discovery for your vacation. We are always here to serve you and look forward to welcoming you back for your next trip to the Philippines!
