Adam Lambert

Broadway fans will soon have to bid “auf wiedersehen” to Eddie Redmayne and Gayle Rankin when they depart from the Tony Award-winning musical Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club. But soon after, they’ll be saying “willkommen, bienvenue, welcome” to a new set of Broadway stars.

How ‘Cats: The Jellicle Ball’ Married the Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber to the Ferocity of…

Trending on billboard.

Cravalho agreed, adding, “I’m thrilled to join the long line of talented women who have taken on the iconic ‘Sally Bowles,’ most recently, the woman I watched with notebook and pen in hand, the dynamite Gayle Rankin. To join a show with so much history – and such a stellar cast and crew – means it’s quite literally an honor to get my butt kicked each week.”

This won’t be Lambert’s first time taking on a theatrical role. Before gaining widespread acclaim from his run on season eight of American Idol , the singer performed in the touring ensemble of Wicked in 2005, and eventually went on to play as the understudy to the romantic lead Fiyero in February 2007 Los Angeles production of the show.

Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club has already proven to be a hit on Broadway. Along with a string of sold-out performances, the show was nominated for a whopping nine Tony Awards in 2024, including best revival of a musical and best performance by an actor/actress in a leading role in a musical for both Redmayne and Rankin. The show ultimately nabbed one award at the ceremony on June 16 for best scenic design of a musical.

Music by John Kander

Lyrics by Fred Ebb

Directed By Michael Barnard

Music Director Kevin White

Willkommen, Bienvenue, Welcome… to the legendary musical about Bohemian Berlin.

Narrated by a mischievous Master of Ceremonies, Kander and Ebb’s Cabaret follows a struggling American writer finding inspiration from the pleasure-filled Kit Kat Club and its vivacious English singer. As a shadow falls over the city with the Third Reich rising to power, the Klub’s performers and patrons must decide if they’ll wake up to the evil on their doorsteps or keep escaping to the alluring fantasy world of the cabaret. Featuring classics like "Don't Tell Mama", "Maybe this Time", and the titular song, “Cabaret,” this dynamic masterpiece thinly veils a German city’s tragic trajectory.

Cabaret Tour Full Cast Announced

Full casting has been announced for Rufus Norris’ multi award-winning production of Kander and Ebb’s landmark musical Cabaret , which embarks on an extensive 2019 UK and Ireland tour, opening at Bromley’s Churchill Theatre from 28 August.

John Partridge, winner of Celebrity MasterChef in 2018, well known to TV audiences as EastEnders’ Christian Clarke, and one of West End theatre’s most prolific leading men (A Chorus Line, Chicago, and La Cage Aux Folles) leads this production of Cabaret as Emcee.

In the role of Sally Bowles is Kara Lily Hayworth who recently won rave reviews across the country for her portrayal of Cilla Black in Cilla the Musical, after she was discovered by Bill Kenwright during the show’s nationwide TV auditions.

As Fraulein Schneider we have singer and screen icon Anita Harris who first rose to fame as a singer in the 1960s, beginning a lifelong career as a performer and actress. She has appeared both on screen (Follow That Camel and Carry on Doctor) and on stage, most notably as Grizabella in the West End’s Cats.

Joining this talented line-up is Basienka Blake (Casualty) as Fraulein Kost, Charles Hagerty (The Bodyguard, West End) as Cliff Bradshaw, James Paterson (The Phantom Of The Opera, West End) as Herr Schultz and Nick Tizzard (Doc Martin) as Ernst Ludwig.

Get ready to put on your cowboy boots, because the cast members of the hit show NASHVILLE just announced their triumphant return to the stage. And yes, all of your favorites will be back including Clare Bowen, Charles Esten, Jonathan Jackson and Sam Palladio.

“It’s rare that an actor gets to play a dream role like Scarlett for so long,” said Bowen in a press release announcing the reunion set for Atlanta's Coca-Cola Roxy on November 22 and the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on November 23.

“Even rarer to have NASHVILLE ’s beautiful catalogue of music that we get to continue celebrating with audiences around the world. The live shows are an evolution of the series. We meet so many new fans of the tv show on the road, and they’re out there singing right along with those who’ve been with us from the start, and it’s such an honor for us.”

After debuting in 2012, NASHVILLE became an instant hit. Before the shows last season in 2018, the show reached over 225 territories worldwide! This news is especially exciting following up NASHVILLE 's successful tour last year.

Jackson is equally as excited to continue celebrating this beloved show on tour. “I am so excited that the musical journey with the NASHVILLE cast is still unfolding. We’ve been digging into the  NASHVILLE catalogue and uncovering some tunes we’ve never performed live together.”

For eager fans, tickets for Atlanta and Nashville go on sale this Friday, August 23 at 10:00 am local time. Ticket information for both shows can be found at  www.nashvillereuniontour.com .

We will meet y'all there.

Oglethorpe students, graduates help bring ‘cabaret’ to life at actor’s express.

Whether it’s center stage, behind the scenes or in the front office, Oglethorpe University has its fingerprints all over the current Actor’s Express production of “ Cabaret .”

portrait of a young woman

Chloe Campbell ’24

Recent graduates Chloe Campbell ’24 and Wynne Kelly ’24 have significant roles in the musical, a Broadway hit portraying 1920s Berlin nightlife prior to the rise of the Third Reich. Current OU students Emma Jean Scott and Summer Stockard are also working at Actor’s Express this summer as the marketing assistant and development assistant respectively.

“It was an amazing show,” said Oglethorpe President Kathryn McClymond, who was in the audience August 17. “The performances were spectacular, and it just reinforced for me the importance of our partnership with Actor’s Express providing our students an opportunity to gain valuable experience and our talented graduates opportunities to perform.”

“Cabaret” runs through Sept. 1 at Actor’s Express, and it has received rave reviews .

Oglethorpe has co-produced shows with Actor’s Express annually for the past three years beginning in 2022 with “Heathers.” In 2023 the partnership included a production of the Broadway musical “Urinetown,” and in 2024 the co-production was the West End-show “Everybody’s Talking About Jamie!” Although “Cabaret” is not a co-production, it is part of Actor’s Express’ 36 th season. The next Actor’s Express co-production with Oglethorpe for 2024-2025 will be announced soon.

portrait of young woman

Wynne Kelly ’24

Campbell and Kelly earned the roles in “Cabaret” through a general audition process Actor’s Express conducted for its entire season. Both received callbacks and were cast Kit Kat Klub dancers. Campbell portrays Rosie and Kelly is Helga.

“I am one of the performers at the Kit Kat Klub, but we each have created such a beautiful and inviting life for our characters,” Campbell said. “Rosie is super welcoming and very excited about everything and everyone. While being so sweet she can be very thorny with fun and exciting outbursts of energy.”

Kelly said “Cabaret” was an important show and performing in it has always been a dream of hers.

“My role as Helga is an ensemble role as I am one of the Kit Kat dancers in the club that the show is set in,” Kelly said. “My job as a Kit Kat dancer is to establish the emotional setting of the show to enhance what is happening between characters in the book scenes.”

During her time at Oglethorpe, Campbell was cast as Heather McNamara in the Actor’s Express show “Heathers,” Montano in “Othello,” Soupy Sue in the Actor’s Express production of “Urinetown,” juror No. 8 in “Twelve Angry Jurors”, Ma in “Grapes of Wrath” and Veronica in “M_______ with a Hat.”

Kelly’s first year at Oglethorpe was during the COVID pandemic, curtailing her early involvement in shows. During her first semester she had the opportunity to be a part of “Cultivating Brave Spaces,” an online piece composed of student written/produced art. After the return to in-person instruction, she landed a role in “Broadway Unplugged,” which was directed by Oglethorpe Alum, Jessica De Maria ’11. She performed with Campbell in “Heathers” as Heather Duke and “Urinetown” as Mrs. Millennium. This past spring she played Bex in “Everybody’s Talking about Jamie!”, also co-produced by Actor’s Express.

“The co productions that Oglethorpe did with Actor’s Express played such a big part helping me acclimate to the professional theatre environment,” Campbell said. “It was a safe learning space. I learned how to foster so many important relationships with directors, stage crew and other actors.”

Campbell and Kelly not only worked with each other in Actor’s Express shows while undergrads, they also developed a rapport with the directors and other professionals.

“The relationship between Oglethorpe and Actor’s Express is something that I am grateful for every day,” Kelly said. “I was able to establish my own relationship with this company as a performer in an educational setting before fully entering the professional world, which helped prepare me a lot for what to expect in the professional theatre scene.”

Two men and two women in a bar with the word "Cabaret" in the foreground

Chloe Campbell ’24, top left, and Wynne Kelly ’24, top right, are appearing in the Actor’s Express production of “Cabaret” this summer.

Campbell has exciting projects coming up with local theatre groups in Atlanta that will be announced soon. She is also teaching afterschool program classes at different under-funded schools across Atlanta as well as studios local to the Brookhaven area.

Kelly is currently working as a teaching artist at the Alliance Theatre and plans to continue auditioning and performing around Atlanta. Her next project will be “Hairspray” Oct. 24 – Nov. 9 at OutFront Theatre Company in which she will be playing Amber.

Both Kelly and Campbell encouraged Oglethorpe theatre students to put themselves out there and make the most of their opportunities.

“Don’t be afraid to ask questions and learn from the people that you get the chance to work with,” Kelly said. “The Atlanta theatre scene can be very closed off, but Oglethorpe is very plugged in. There are so many opportunities that you have to learn and grow from the faculty of professors as well as the actors that you meet through the co-productions. Take advantage of those opportunities and don’t forget that you are still allowed to learn in those spaces.”

“Seize every opportunity that comes your way,” Campbell said. “I think it’s so important to utilize the space as a learning space as it’s intended. You have the potential to learn who you are, make new discoveries, learn things you like and or may not like, etc. I wouldn’t feel half as confident or secure in my talents as I do now or that I had the potential to grow, had I not taken advantage of every show every workshop and every connection I made through Oglethorpe.”

And, of course, the Oglethorpe community should support their fellow Petrels and make plans to see “Cabaret.” Tickets are available from Actor’s Express online , and the show closes Sept. 1.

Meet original 'Rocky Horror Picture Show' cast members as cult classic tours America

"Rocky Horror Picture Show" is going on a strange journey — and it's taking some members of the original cast along.

The campy cult classic movie musical is celebrating its 49th anniversary this year with three national tours that will combine to stop in more than 50 cities. The tours will run simultaneously, with Barry Bostwick (Brad Majors), Nell Campbell (Columbia) and Patricia Quinn (Magenta) each at the helm of one. The tour stops kick off on Sunday, Aug. 28, and run through Oct. 31.

“'Rocky' has changed lives, not just ours, and had a profound effect on how we accept our differences in this world," Bostwick said in a news release. "We were fitted for our corsets and high heels and enthusiastically started singing songs that have endured for all these years. And 'dammit Janet!' I have made nerds cool .”

More: Did you know there's a Shore mastermind behind 'Coraline,' 'Nightmare Before Christmas'?

At each tour stop, audiences will have the opportunity to meet a cast member, participate in a costume contest judged by the cast member and watch the film with a local shadow cast, who will perform scenes live while the unedited movie is shown. In select cities, audiences also can view a traveling museum of artifacts and costumes,

“I never would have thought all these years later we’d be touring our little ol' film," Campbell said "I’m so thrilled to get back on the road and to meet several generations of fans. Looking forward to a lot of fun just like it always was!”

"Rocky Horror" has become a beloved addition to theater and film over the past five decades, since its debut in 1975.

More: Fall 2024 Broadway Week tickets are on sale now. Here's what you need to know.

The movie also stars Tim Curry as Frank-N-Furter, Meat Loaf as Eddie, Susan Sarandon as Janet, the film's creator Richard O'Brien as Riff Raff and more.

“Fifty years ago I auditioned for the 'Rocky Horror' show at the 60 seat Royal Court Theatre Upstairs in London," Quinn said. "I asked my agent, what’s it about?' He replied 'something to do with a circus.' He wasn’t wrong. I’ve been in this circus ever since! ‘Cirque Du Rocky Horror.’ I’m lucky! We’re all lucky! Don’t dream it, be it."

The national tour is produced by Scott Stander and The Stander Group. Some experiences require VIP tickets. For more information, to view all tour dates and to purchase tickets, visit scottstander.com/rocky.html .

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. – It’s never good to see a professional golfer reaching for their lower back after hitting a shot. It’s even worse when that golfer is World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who is trying to win the FedEx Cup for the first time to cap off a spectacular season.

But on the 17 th hole, Scheffler hit his second shot and touched his lower back with his left hand. PGA Tour XM Radio’s Mark McCumber described it as if “it took his breath away” and Scheffler leaned on his club for an extra second.

Scheffler finished with a couple of pars and posted three birdies and two bogeys for an opening-round, 1-under 71. After the round, Scheffler downplayed any potential injury, saying, “It’s fine.”

Scheffler did concede that he woke up with a sore back and had trouble loosening it up.

“It was hard for me to get through it, and I was laboring most of the day to get through the ball,” he explained. “On 17 I was trying to hit a high draw, and that’s a shot where I’ve really got to use a big turn, big motion.”

Asked to elaborate on what happened, he said, “Maybe I hit a few too many balls yesterday or something. It was just a little sore. I’m sure I’ll get some ice on it and stuff, and I’ll be totally fine tomorrow.”

Would he do any special treatment? “Just normal routine. Just like always,” he said.

Scheffler was paired Thursday with Xander Schauffele, who is second in the FedEx Cup and shot 69 to best Scheffler, the FedEx Cup leader, by two strokes.

Schauffele said he noticed that Scheffler’s back was stiff when he tried to turn his head but joked that it may be a bigger problem for the field than for Scheffler, noting that Scheffler needed treatment on his neck at the Players Championship and elsewhere when he won. “I guess it’s a bad sign for everyone else,” he said.

Cabaret US Tour Original Cast Revival

  • National Tours

Based on stories by Christopher Isherwood

The infamous Kit Kat Klub has undergone a new makeover. Grab a VIP seat and become a part of the action. … A female master of ceremonies hosts a decadent and sensual interpretation of CABARET.

Based on the original concept and script, this staged version brings forth the turmoil of love, trust, denial and desire embodied in Sally Bowles as well as the young and restless curiosity of a defiant American named Cliff.

From the producer that brought you the smash hit, Elevator, and the director of Into the Woods and Pippin.

Set against the backdrop of pre-World War II, the show takes place inside a provocative, yet forbidden Kit Kat Klub, where the relationship between cabaret performer Sally Bowles and the handsome American Cliff Bradshaw flourishes only to be confronted by social taboos and the imminent rise of the Nazi Party.

Overseeing all of the action in CABARET is the Master of Ceremonies (MC) of the Kit Kat Klub, who serves as a cultural metaphor and the upbeat catalyst to the ever-changing climate of the show.

Reflecting the moods and guiding the minds of the characters on stage, the MC takes pleasure in reminding the audience how easily society falls prey to the electrifying chaos that surrounds them. It is best to leave all inhibitions outside.
