In 2013, BTS (aka the Bangtan Boys) stepped onto the K-pop scene thanks to record label Big Hit Entertainment. Members Kim Namjoon (RM), Kim Seokjin (Jin), Min Yoongi (Suga), Jung Hoseok (J-Hope), Park Jimin, Kim Taehyung (V), and Jeon Jungkook.

All seven members hail from layered backgrounds like hip-hop and professional dance, proving their expertise in the entertainment industry. Originally a hip-hop group, BTS quickly became a force in South Korea – and around the world – thanks to the constant growth of its music, lyrics, and on-stage charisma.

BTS released its first single, “No More Dream,” from its debut album 2 Cool 4 Skool in 2013. The album’s hip-hop elements set the tone for BTS’s early career. The group showed off its talent with various multi-language album releases in Korean and Japanese. Dark & Wild, Wake Up, and The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Pt. 1 & 2 offered glimpses into BTS’s potential in K-pop.

In 2016, BTS’s second Korean LP Wings sold one million copies in South Korea, solidifying its spot as a rising group in music. Singles like “Blood Sweat & Tears” helped the album skyrocket. An official part two release of Wings titled You Never Walk Alone continued where the previous album’s left in 2017. A resounding message of hope remained a recurring theme throughout the lineup of must-have records.

As BTS’s success continued to grow, so did its worldwide status. The septet’s 2017 singles “DNA” and “Mic Drop” kick-started its rise on the U.S. charts. It was no surprise the initial EP release Love Yourself: Her was also highly successful.

By a new all-time high in South Korea and number seven in the U.S., the nine-track album secured another win for one of K-pop’s best. Love Yourself: Her experimented with a variety of genres, including electro-pop and hip-hop. Not only did BTS stick to its roots, but it also delivered a sneak peek into its creative versatility.

Following a string of U.S. TV appearances, BTS set out to take the world by storm. Like the band’s previous albums, Love Yourself: Her was the beginning of a unique three-album series. First, BTS released the Japanese-language LP Face Yourself. Later, the follow-up Love Yourself: Tear marked the band’s first U.S. number one hit.

A collaboration with Nicki Minaj on the single “Idol” helped the next LP, Love Yourself: Answer, gain more traction. Not only did BTS sell over one million copies of the third installment of the Love Yourself series in South Korea, the album also topped charts in the U.S.

BTS’s status as a worldwide pop phenom took a significant turn with its Map of the Soul: Persona era. Additional collabs with famous American artists like Halsey on “Boy with Luv” helped the group obtain a third number one LP in the U.S. Soon enough, BTS became one of the most in-demand musicians in the pop industry. It continued to break records with Map of the Soul: 7 and Map of the Soul: 7 — The Journey in 2020.

More recent singles like “Dynamite,” “Butter,” and “Permission to Dance” were radio hits. BTS’s signature high-energy sound and lyrics captivated fans and casual listeners alike. In the meantime, concert documentary films, mobile games, award show performances, and collaborations featuring artists like Snoop Dogg, Coldplay, Zara Larrson, and Charli XCX allowed BTS to break down barriers as a South Korean artist.

Along with incredible album sales, BTS embarked on sold-out world tours. With choreographed dance sequences and flashy stage setups, the boy band put on quite the show for its loyal fanbase.

Individual style sets BTS apart from the typical boy band. Perhaps that’s why the septet’s status as a music phenom is an undeniable feat.

Along with incredible album sales, BTS embarked on several sold-out world tours throughout its career. With choreographed dance sequences and flashy stage setups, the band put on quite the show for its loyal fanbase. The same went for TV appearances on late-night talk shows, award ceremonies, and more.

Despite BTS’s recent hiatus announcement, its popularity continues to grow, especially with a long list of music awards under its belt. Some of them include nine AMAs, 10 MTV VMAs, and 12 BMAs. Not to mention two well-deserved Grammy nominations from the Recording Academy.

Live reviews

Going into this, I didn’t know what to expect. I have known bts for a very long time and all army’s know that you should expect the unexpected from bts because they’re all amazing!!! I was extremely excited when I had gotten the tickets, but I had no clue what I was in for till I arrived in Hamilton and stood in front of the First Ontario Centre! Once I stood there everything became so real and couldn’t believe that I would get to see bts in just moments. My sisters and I went to see the merchandise. There were many army’s dancing and singing to all of bts’s amazing songs, it made me smile. Sadly we didn’t get any merchandise, but we took some amazing pictures and the true prize was being able to spend the whole evening with bts. Once we entered the stadium and found our seats, my heart stopped! There were lights everywhere and their old music videos were playing on the big screen. Many army’s were singing along to the songs while we waited for the moment of truth! Finally it was 5 minutes till the beginning of the concert and my heart was racing!!! This was finally it. I was going to see bts for real!! And then it happened! Bts appeared from the stage and I began to cry. I myself am still confused as to why I was crying. Maybe it was because of shock, maybe because I was seeing my idols for the first time, but I like to think it was because these are the most amazing people on earth, they show their love to thousands and work tirelessly every single day and it’s all so they can spread their message. Their message of hope, love, ending violence, trashing stereotypes, and loving yourself. I think we need more people like bts in this world. Despite me crying through the opening song I managed to sing along to all of their songs and screamed till my heart was content. The visual effects and lighting were out of this world. The whole time I thought I was dreaming, but it was all true. Time seemed to fly by the fastest when they were on stage, but I enjoyed every moment of it! This concert was definitely the most breath taking and inspiring concert I have ever seen (it’s also my very first concert!). The music was so loud and everyone single person was enjoying it. I felt nothing but pure joy. My day before the concert was a difficult one and I am a student who has to work hard in school, so I had many worries before the concert. But as soon as the first song started and they appeared, every problem seemed to disappear. I felt extremely enlightened and happy that I had the opportunity to see these one of a kind people. If someone asked me if I would go to another bts concert, my answer would be an immediate yes!! Bts are very inspiring people and I can’t even begin to imagine what they went through to get where they are today, but I’ll take the time to thank bts now for becoming the amazing boys we all know and love. I know that they will make even bigger accomplishments in the future. Soon enough everyone will know bts as those boys who changed their lives. I hope millions of people can give them a chance and see what they have to offer because I cannot imagine going through life without knowing who bts is. If I could request bts of anything it would be for them to stay happy. I won’t even try to imagine how hard it must be for them at times and I don’t think many people understand what you all go through from day to day. But if my message can lighten your worries even a bit, I would be satisfied! I want you all to stay happy and enjoy all the moments that come your way. Whether it’s good or bad. BTS, army’s love you always!!!! We purple you always!! And will always stand by your side!!!

Hello to whoever is reading this! If you are planning or debating to go to a concert, or simply just here to read the review on their concert, the experience was absolutely amazing! Meeting armys, to waiting in line, to actually seeing BTS perform their songs LIVE, every single thing about it was ecstatic.

I have read a lot that ARMY’S are all very sweet and it is indeed true. While I was waiting in line for merch, there was a particular moment that I will not forget for a while. I already had a reserved seat and I was waiting at 4 am (on the concert day) in the GA Line. GA (General Admission), the pit, where people stand in front of the stage. It was useless for me to wait in the line because I had a reserved seat. These ladies behind me asked me if this was the GA line and I told them I was unsure. They went to the front of the line and asked and apparently, it was indeed the GA line. I had no absolute idea, and they were kind enough to actually go all the way to the back to let me know I wasn’t waiting in the correct line.

I also met more ARMY’s in the merch line! They told me all about their experiences and their bias and many more. ARMY’s are all really sweet and they are amazing people who share the same passion as you! I also met some people from behind my mom and I. My mom befriended them first, then she introduced them to me! We then went back to the GA line to look for people giving out free things. The girl behind me also had to use the restroom, so we all walked across the street to a paint store and while I was in the restroom, turns out someone almost spilt blue paint on her homeade jacket!!! The experience with ARMY was absolutely amazing and I will never forget how kind and welcoming they were.

I was lucky enough to be chosen as a soundcheck winner as well, so I was able to see BTS perform without any makeup on and with their normal clothes. While waiting, I also met ANOTHER fellow ARMY, of course haha. She was so kind to me and while we were waiting in the arena for BTS to come out, she actually gave me Shooky sign that she had purchased from the LINE store, unfortunately, I left it behind on accident after the concert.. She was also so kind to me and was extremely nervous to finally see BTS. When BTS came out, I was on the verge of crying. Before, I wasn’t that nervous and I was ready to see them. It was so amazing to see them in person when you’ve seen them on a tiny screen on your phone. They are real. Seeing them so up close and in person was a different feeling. They look the same in person as they do in videos and pictures, except they are way more beautiful. They’re features are really sharp and they really glisten. The feeling is unexplainable and it is very hard to understand until you actual experience it yourself. They performed 3 songs: I Need U, DNA, and Anpanman. This lasted for about 15-20 minutes.

The concert itself was so hype. They all sound amazing live. However, you can hear how tired they were, from all the difficult choreographies and traveling so much. It was evident they hasn’t had enough sleep. They had one day to rest because after their FOUR day concert (straight) they flew to Oakland already. It is a differnet feeling when you hear the song in such a way. You are just absolutely jamming out and having the best time of your life. If you could go to one concert, I would reccomend a BTS concert.

I think that if i have to describe it in just one word i will say: PERFECT.

It was the best experience of my live, also it was my firt concert ever.

Everithing went perfect, im from Barcelona, Spain, so i had to take a two hours flight to go to Paris, i woke up at 3 am because the flight departure was at 6:30 am, I arrived there (the hotel) at 11 am on the 18, after that, i went to eat breakfast/lunch and while i was eating i went to look around the concert area. When i went there i saw a lot of people camping out to be one of the firt so i decided to do the same. My friend and i went to get water, food and a jacket to go with the others to camp out there. We stayed from 1 pm to 10 pm camping until they gave us a number so that people could leave the place to rest a bit, we decided to do so because we couldn't sleep the previous day because the flight that we had and also it was only 6 degrees and we were only wearing a short t-shirt and a jacket.

We woke up at 4 am to go to our place, after waiting four hours more we went to get merchandising so we had to wait 3 hours until we got the army bomb ver. 3. After that we waited until 5 pm when they let us enter the concert hall, in there we waited 3 hours more until the happiest moment in my live where the 7 most handsome mens appeared surroundered by the screams of the fans, the lights, and the fireworks. Their voices are incredible in real life, they are a hundred more times handsome in real life than in pictures and videos, they were respectful and thankful with all their fans and even tried to talk in french, Jungkook danced for the fans even if he was injured, Taehyung was sick and his voice wasn't at full, but i couldn't realise it until he said so. Seokjin was a bit sick, but he didn't show any sight of so. The others were fantastic too, the blue-haired Jimin, the president Namjoon, the handsome Hoseok (in my opinion he is the one that changes the most from pictures to reality, he is really, really hot, and he is so energetic and happy), and Yoongi, who killed my with his voice, his dance, his appearance, his rap, in one word: seesaw.

Also my bias was Taehyung and i can say that getting to see him was extremely awesome, he is so perfect, he is indeed the most handsome man of the world, and even if he was sad because he couldn't give his best, his performance was absolutely perfect, i couldn't be able to ask for more.

All in all, the best experience in my live, i hope maybe next year they come to Spain so that the people that couldn't go can see them.

The BTS concert was the most shocking experience that I ever had.

Queuing all day was not a problem, I met a lot of ARMYS from all over the world with the same motivation to see our boys. We were all day singing, sharing experiences and exploring the venue. Nevertheless, the O2 regulations were very specific about camping and how prohibited was it and even so they honoured the queue started by campers sooner than expected by the rules. That fact was heartbreaking because a lot of armys synchronized their flights to get there in time as well as others had to spend money on a hotel (me included) to stay during the night to respect the regulations.

Once inside was kind of a war, mostly if you are standing. People pushed from every corner of the space (which is comprehensible) to get a better view and that conditioned the experience a lot. In my case I was on the right side of the stage (relatively close) but I was so stucked into the crowd that I couldn't even refer to my friends who were behind me. Anyways this was not anyone fault, I'm just relating my experience without blaming.

As soon as the boys were on stage I got paralyzed. I just couldn't believe that something that I'd been following for so much time through media was suddenly in front of me (and looking damn good). Song after song the only phrase on my mind was: this cannot be real.

Going to a BTS concert is like the last level and thing that an army can do/achieve to feel closer to her/his idols. I just wish that there could be a way to express my love to them that didn't involve money. Dreaming is free right?

In conclusion, we had no problems with the tickets, in the venue the staff treated us very kindly (they offered us water during the show) and it was totally worth it, money cannot tell how valuable was the experience. I've just wished that that same morning the O2 had communicated about the queue news because I found out thanks to anonymous Twitter users.

BTS said that they would definitely comeback to the UK which makes me very happy. This announcement motivated me to be a better person for the next time I see them because as I said, I really felt like I didn't deserve it, I didn't deserve so much love and dedication from this wonderful people. They've helped me and other people in such a way, that I just want all the love, best and heaven for them.

It was surreal. I've never thought i would ever get to see BTS in real life nor to join one of their concerts. They came to Amsterdam, ziggodome. I was in line for GA since 8 am, it was a chill line untill we all had to move around 3 pm. People started cutting in line, pushing etc. We had to stand real close in the sun for another two hours. It went rather unfair, people who arrived at 11 or 12 am were standing in front of me in the concert. And we still had to wait another three hours untill the show actually began. I didn't move a muscle once I was in the concert venue and yet I managed to get further back once it was almost time for the show and my friends were even further behind me. But it was worth all the hassle. I didn't get to look at the boys well even though I was decently close to the side of the stage (probably 5 or 6 rows before me) and that was puerly because people in front of us decided it was needed to film the whole concert so we were looking at beautiful phones almost the whole 3 hours.

Even though it felt like I was never there and it never happened. Even though it went unfair and my view was mostly blocked because of others. It was still worth it. Maybe not worth the price we had to pay for the tickets. Next time maybe make sections in GA as well. It seems unfair for people who pay equal amount and ended up in the back.

The music was amazing, the boys and their speeches were adorable.

I DIDN'T KNOW WHERE TO LOOK. All the time. The screen? No I want to look at them in flesh, but the boys are spreaded all over the stage nor I couldn't see because of the phones blocking my view. It was hard to decide and I think this is also why it feels like I missed out on so much.

Next year I'll go for VIP or seating. The stress and lining up hours before, pushing etc in GA was just not it for me and for only 50 euros more you'd have a guaranteed good spot AND soundcheck. It just seems a bit unfair.

But the concert itself was amazing and I would go through all of that all over again. I made friends and had a great moment I'll think about the rest of my life.

Honestly the concert was great and BTS is way hotter in person it was hard to believe they were real. The problem I had was how TGM made us wait outside in the cold, rainy weather. I happened to be standing outside 5 hours and I was seated in the last row. I have read other reviews saying things like the security guards pushed them. Thankfully that didn't happen to us but we were still screamed at and we didn't get to hold their hands we just walked down the line and slightly high five them. Another thing I had a problem which is that the local artist played more songs than BTS themselves. The local artist played 5 and BTS played 4 or 5. Even if both BTS and the local artist both played 5 songs the local artist shouldn't have the same amount of songs as BTS because that's why most people were there. To see BTS. I happen to be black so standing in the rain for 5 hours made my hair get really big and I happened to look like i had a bad hair day. It also messed up my makeup. If you want to know what I looked like just imagine Dorthy from the Wizard of Oz gone goth. I happened to be wearing a black t-shirt and a choker and my hair was down but from standing in the rain my hair got really big and puffy so I tried restyling it. The only way that it didn't look too bad was when I put my hair in braids BAM goth dorthy. I honestly don't think I will ever go to another TGM event unless I make sure to buy VIP. VIP's were lucky enough to enter before us, see BTS before us, and stay to take a group with BTS after we left. Another thing that was a problem was that my friend who was supposed to meet me inside the venue wasn't allowed in as they said there were no more seats. There were plenty of seats left for her, her mom, and her sister. The only problem is that they wouldn't be together. There were many spots were 2 seats were open but they still weren't let in. The good thing is that they got a full refund, a hitouch, and a group photo since they weren't able to see the concert.

A memorable night at the O2 as BTS kicked off their first European tour in London. The boys pulled off a very enjoyable and impressive night, even with Jungkook not being in best condition and with the late start to the concert (which I assume was done because plans changed since rehearsals).

Before the show fans qued up outside just to take photos with the giant billboard showcasing the tour poster.

I was with my dad who had no clue what to expect really, so this was maybe not such a good start.

I was not trying to scare him off, believe me.

Unfortunately, all merchandise except light sticks had been sold out by the time we entered the arena, although, I wasn’t really suprised considering the circumstances. I regret not buying a lightstick in the end because in a BTS concert WHAT ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO DO WITH YOUR HANDS?! I do not have a phone to hold. When I tried clapping or dancing the girl next to me started to slowly back away. At one point, I swear to god she was so far away that she was in the isle (fire hazard, or what?).

The show started with a few of their new songs (like IDOL and I’m fine). Everybody cheered when they introduced themselves and I will admit that I lost my voice within 10 minutes of the concert.

In between segments short videos would play or the members would talk to the audience. They were very sweet overall and it made me happy to see them still able to express themselves so well in such a new environment where they cannot speak the language with a lot of confidence.

I had to leave during the truth untold because I had to catch a train but what I did see has made me even more eager to come back and watch a full concert with my best friend who could not come this time.

As for my unwilling a dad, he said that he was suprised that he liked it and that it was one of the best performances he has been to. For next time though, he said introductions could be shorter.

I can not wait until next time!!! ♥️

I was so happy I was going to a BTS concert but unfortunately I got up late because I wanted to be the first one there (new that would happen) but I got dressed and did my hair but a mixed girl to do my hair needs about 30 minutes to get ready and after that i went there and so many people were in line

( new that would happen too) when I had got in line a girl stepped on another girls foot and told me to leave I could not believe my eyes what army would hurt another army (like we are on your team) but me being the angel I am (not really) i went up and told the girl to stop and she got mad at me (bad choice) she was yelling at me so I tried to walk off and she grabbed my hair by this point I was mad and I slapped her she let go and started to cry a guy who was buff came up and then said that i would have to leave but the girl who got her foot stepped on stood up for me her name was akana and she and i did not end up leaving but akana and me talked and we were friends once we reached the beginning of the line it was my turn and akana was waiting inside so they said that My ticket was invalid honestly I could not believe it after all this I looked like crap but just at that moment I found a vip pass on the ground I picked it up even though I did not pay for it I felt bad but finally after a while I was seated and when the concert started I screamed at the top of my lungs when it ended I found akana we got to stay after the concert and took pictures with BTS

(what pure luck) I wanted to die but today still me and akana are still huge fans of BTS and best friends now even if i know that akana is dying from cancer she will fight through and make sure to see another BTS concert with me and to become a KPOP singer she will pull through support her pray for her please.

Ummm the concert was good I ended up getting bronchitis from the cold and due to the fact my asthma kicked in but it was hilarious because when I called my little sister she thought I was a man I never laughed so hard in my life and I don’t like to smile or laugh so I was kinda glad I got sick but then it hurt to even talk or drink water so that was bad but the concert was wild. I ended making a friend and she is older than me...(I always end up being the youngest but I look older than what I am) and she gave me a talk about how high school is going to be like. The only reason why I was able to go was because of my cousin and I am happy she was able to take me. I studied too much the day before no not even EVERYDAY before the concert because trying to go to high school...so I was numb with knowledge and forgot what excitement was but when we walked into the stadium I had anxiety but I ended up getting pass it after I realized that I sang before on a stage and people actually like it and it was a huge stage so I felt better and then blah blah blah lost my voice blah blah blah almost fell...lies I did fall like multiple times but that was because I am the biggest klutz blah blah blah nervous but SOOOO HAPPY blah blah blah screamed out high notes (that was were I made my mistake) blah blah blah then was being a goofball on my way out of the stadium with my cousin when we went to the car and met up with my uncle...so basically I enjoyed it and wow did I write a lot...probably should shorten this but I have bracelets to make and sell and they aren’t going to do it themselves so GREAT JOB BTS and to the amazing staff and yeah EVERYBODY THAT MADE IT POSSIBLE YOU GUYS AND GALS ARE AMAZING AND YOU GUYS AND GALS SHOULD KNOW THAT!

Jin is the oldest member of BTS. His position is sub-vocalist but he is also the official visual member of the group. Jin was scouted by Big Hit Entertainment while walking the streets of South Korea. He initially auditioned to be an actor but later transitioned to becoming an idol trainee. Prior to becoming an idol, he studied in Australia as an exchange student. He debuted with BTS at the age of 21. He stands at a height of 179 cm (5'11'') and has an estimated weight of 63 kg (139 lbs).

  • Stage Name: Jin
  • Full Name: Kim Seok-jin
  • Country of Birth: South Korea
  • Date of Birth: Dec 4, 1992
  • Height: 179 cm (5'11'')
  • Weight: 63 kg (139 lbs)
  • Blood Type: O

That's all? Give me more facts about Jin!

Suga is the second oldest member of BTS. He originally joined Big Hit Entertainment as a music producer. His name Suga comes from the first syllables of the term "shooting guard", which was the position he played in his basketball team when he was a student. Suga was 20 years old (international age) when he made his debut with BTS in June 2013. He is an introvert with an MBTI of INTP. Despite being one of the shortest member of BTS, Suga's height is 174 cm (5'9''), which is about the average for Korean men.

  • Stage Name: Suga
  • Full Name: Min Yoon Gi
  • Date of Birth: Mar 9, 1993
  • Height: 174 cm (5'9'')
  • Weight: 59 kg (130 lbs)

This is not enough info about Suga!

J-Hope is the main dancer and rapper of BTS. He started as a street dancer and won first place in South Korea's national dance competition in 2012. His hobbies include dancing (street dance, freestyle), beatboxing, tidying up, playing tennis.

  • Stage Name: J-hope
  • Full Name: Jung Ho Seok
  • Date of Birth: Feb 18, 1994
  • Height: 177 cm (5'10'')
  • Weight: 65 kg (143 lbs)
  • Blood Type: A

 More facts about J-Hope, please!

RM is BTS's leader and the main rapper. In fact, his name RM stands for Rap Monster and Real Me. He and J-hope were both born in 1994, with J-hope being slightly older by only 7 months. RM is very intelligent. He has an IQ of 148 and scored in the top 1% of South Korea in the university entrance examinations. He is also the best English speaker in the group. He taught himself by watching American sitcoms like Friends.

  • Stage Name: RM
  • Full Name: Kim Nam-joon
  • Date of Birth: Sep 12, 1994
  • Height: 182 cm (6'0'')
  • Weight: 67kg (147 lbs)

Gotta have more data on RM, right?!

Jimin, BTS's main dancer, started dancing from a young age. When he was in middle school, he attended Just Dance Academy where he learned popping and locking. He later studied contemporary dance at Busan High School of Arts. He is also one of the lead vocalists of the group.

  • Stage Name: Jimin
  • Full Name: Park Jimin
  • Date of Birth: Oct 13, 1995
  • Weight: 61kg (134 lbs)

C'mon, I want more facts on Jimin!

V is the second youngest member of BTS. He was 17 years old when he debuted with the group in 2013. He almost debuted as a rapper instead of vocalist. He is fluent in Japanese and Korean, and knows basic English. He considers his journey as an idol a once-in-a-lifetime lucky chance.

  • Stage Name: V
  • Full Name: Kim Tae Hyung
  • Date of Birth: Dec 30, 1995
  • Height: 178 cm (5'10'')
  • Weight: 62 kg (137 lbs)
  • Blood Type: AB

V is my bread and butter!

Jungkook is the youngest and the most popular member of BTS. He is also the main vocalist of the group. Jungkook was inspired to start singing after he came across a video of RM rapping. And coincidentally it was around the same time when Bang Si Hyuk was doing Star Audition – The Great Birth and that’s how Jungkook ended up with Big Hit Entertainment.

  • Stage Name: Jungkook
  • Full Name: Jeon Jung-kook
  • Date of Birth: Sep 1, 1997
  • Weight: 66kg (145 lbs)

 Can't get enough of Jungkook!

Since their debut in 2013, the South Korean boy band, whose name is an acronym for Bangtan Sonyeondan (which roughly translates to Bulletproof Boys), has topped the charts with their catchy pop music, collaborated with some of the biggest names in the industry and grown one of the largest fanbases, affectionately dubbed ARMY.

The Grammy -nominated group is comprised of seven members: RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook. In the years since they exploded onto the scene, many of the members have gone on to pursue solo projects , in addition to creating hits like "Butter" with their bandmates.

While they are mainly known for their collective success, which includes their various charitable endeavors , each artist has begun to pave their own path and develop their individual fandoms.

"We do make sure that one person doesn't stand out," Jungkook told Miss Vogue in 2018. "But then we are really unique. We all have our style, so I think we all stand out. We each have our own roles and positions in the band and then we work together to make sure we all try hard for the Army."

Here's everything there is to know about the seven members of BTS.

RM (whose full name is Kim Namjoon) is the band's leader and main rapper. Born on Sept. 12, 1994, RM grew up in Ilsan, South Korea, and began rapping at a young age. He made some waves in the underground rap scene — performing under various names, including Large, Stealo and Runch Randa — and eventually caught the eye of the South Korean record label Big Hit Entertainment (later rebranded into HYBE), who formed BTS and recruited him to be the first official member in 2010.

Over the years, RM has been praised for his fluency in English. During an appearance on The Ellen Degeneres Show , RM revealed that he taught himself English by watching the iconic sitcom Friends . "My English teacher was the sitcom Friends ," he explained. "Back in the days, when I was like 15, 14, it was quite like a syndrome for all the Korean parents to make their kids watch Friends . I thought I was kind of like a victim at that time, but right now, I'm the lucky one, thanks to my mother."

RM added that his mom bought him all 10 seasons of the hit show on DVD. "So firstly, I watched them with the Korean subtitles, and then next time, I watched with the English subtitles, and then I just removed it."

During their annual FESTA dinner in June 2022, BTS shared that they would be taking a break to pursue solo projects and figure out their next steps as a band.

"I always thought that BTS was different from other groups, but the problem with K-pop and the whole idol system is that they don't give you time to mature," RM said during the event. "You have to keep producing music and keep doing something."

HYBE later clarified in a statement that the group was not taking a hiatus and would remain active "as a team while taking individual journey to further achieve personal growth."

RM made his official solo debut with his first studio album, INDIGO, in December 2022.

Jin (whose full name is Kim Seokjin) was born on Dec. 4, 1992, in Gwacheon, South Korea. He is the oldest member of the group and the first member to begin mandatory military service in South Korea — a requirement that must be fulfilled by able-bodied men in the country before they're 28 years old.

Often referred to as "Worldwide Handsome," Jin joined the group in 2013 as one of the four main vocalists. In 2017, Jin graduated from Konkuk University in South Korea, according to a tweet from BTS' official Twitter page, with a degree in acting and art.

Jin is also BTS' resident foodie. He previously had his own food web series, Eat Jin, and he is the co-owner of a Japanese restaurant called Ossu Seriomushi, located in Seoul, South Korea. In August 2022, Jin made use of his time off from BTS and got back in the kitchen, receiving a cooking lesson from celebrity chef and South Korean television personality Lee Yeon-bok, per Billboard .

During an interview with Weverse Magazine , Jin opened up about finding his confidence as an individual, outside of BTS.

"It used to be that any time I had to do something, I thought it was such a big deal. Like, how can I handle something this big right now," Jin told the outlet. "I would always feel discouraged, but my personality has changed a lot now, I think. I think the biggest change in my mind is that now, even if there's a major project in the works, I think I can do it now."

He added, "Now, instead of, 'How can I handle this?' it's 'I can handle this!' when I'm making songs for other people to listen to."

Jin released the solo single , "The Astronaut," which was co-written by Chris Martin of Coldplay , in October 2022.

Suga (whose full name is Min Yoongi) was born on March 9, 1993, in Daegu, South Korea. Prior to joining BTS, he made a name for himself as an underground rapper — performing under the stage name Gloss — and a producer.

These days, in addition to his involvement with BTS, Suga performs as a solo rapper under the alias Agust D, which is a play on his stage name and a reference to his hometown. He is also a commercial producer under the name "By Suga."

Of his different aliases, he told GQ Austalia , "All three are me. They each take up a third of myself, and one isn't more reflective of me than another. I simply give people a choice. These three sides of myself are incredibly different, so I'm giving people a choice to see me as they want."

In April 2022, Suga produced and was featured on "Gangnam Style" singer Psy's comeback song "That That."

"At first, because he's many years my senior and someone who's well-respected in the business I was quite nervous," Suga said of the collaboration, adding, "it felt like working with a childhood friend so it made the songwriting process that much more fun … We became besties in a way."

Suga made his foray into the fashion world in January 2023, when Italian fashion house Valentino announced him as their latest brand ambassador. Suga joined the company's Di.Vas ambassador group, which stands for Different Values, per WWD .

Pierpaolo Picciolo, Valentino's creative director, described Suga to the outlet as a "multifaceted artist" who expresses himself with "authenticity and energy." He added, "He perfectly embodies everything that DI.VA.s testimonials stand for: diversity, inclusivity, creativity, and passion."

In September 2023, Suga became the third member of BTS to enlist in the South Korean military.

J-Hope (whose full name is Jung Hoseok) was born on Feb. 18, 1994, in Gwangju, South Korea. J-Hope got his start as a dancer and won several competitions in South Korea. He was then recruited by Big Hit Entertainment in 2010 and began training as a rapper. Now, he is one of three rappers in the group, as well as a dancer, songwriter and producer. He was also the first BTS member to start a solo career.

In 2019, J-Hope teamed up with singer Becky G to release the song "Chicken Noodle Soup." The "Shower" singer opened up about her collaboration with J-Hope during an interview with Teen Vogue . "We were one of the first to do Korean, Spanish, and English. It's really badass," she told the outlet.

Of their language barrier, she added, "I'm so happy that it happened the way it did. To this day, it's one of those, 'I see you, you see me, and even though we may not necessarily have the deepest conversations, we get it' [relationships]."

The duo performed the song at Lollapalooza 2022 during J-Hope's historic headlining set , which made him the first South Korean artist to headline a main stage at a major American music festival.

The month prior, he released his debut solo album Jack in the Box and opened up to Rolling Stone about his solo career. "Since I'm the first one to go solo, I feel a sense of responsibility and there's definitely some pressure as well," he told the outlet. " Jack in the Box is filled only with things I personally wanted to do, almost to the point where I worry to myself, 'Did I focus too much on solely what I wanted to do?' I think that's where the half nervousness comes from."

He added that his bandmates RM and Jungkook were some of the first people to listen to the album and were incredibly supportive of it. "[RM] said, 'Wow, I didn't think you'd do music like this. I have a bit of brain freeze. And it's so you. The fact that you brought this music at this time… I really respect it, and I love that it's so you,' " he recalled of RM's reaction to the album.

Later in the interview, he said that while his solo career has been " fun " and "challenging," he misses his bandmates, explaining that his rehearsals can sometimes feel "lonely."

Another female artist that J-Hope is close with is Lizzo . In April 2022, Lizzo spoke about their friendship and revealed that J-Hope is " a great texter , expressive. He doesn't leave you on read." She added of BTS, "Good people, like really good energy."

On New Year's Eve 2023, J-Hope performed in Times Square in New York City for Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest .

In February 2023, J-Hope became the second member of BTS to enlist in the South Korean military .

"We would like to inform our fans that j-hope has initiated the military enlistment process by applying for the termination of his enlistment postponement," the group's label, BIGHIT MUSIC, said in a statement. "We ask for your continued love and support for j-hope until he completes his military service and safely returns."

Jimin (whose full name is Park Jimin) was born on Oct. 13, 1995, in Busan, South Korea. He is another one of the group's main dancers, and he studied dance in high school. He was the last to join BTS, becoming a member of the group in 2013.

In recent years, Jimin has also ventured out independently and taken on new projects. In early January 2023, he was featured on South Korean singer Taeyang's song "Vibe." Just a few days later, Dior announced Jimin as their new global brand ambassador .

The artist celebrated the news on Instagram, writing, "So thrilled to start a journey with @Dior!" He added in Korean, "Honored to be Dior's Global Ambassador! Stay tuned for a lot of things to come!"

Jimin has kept plans of a solo album close to his chest, however, in an interview with W Korea on Jan. 23, 2023, he hinted that there is an album in the works. "Lately, I am working on a solo album. That's what I have been up to. Nothing special … " he said subtly.

V (whose full name is Kim Taehyung) was born on Dec. 30, 1995, in Daegu, South Korea. He grew up singing and playing the saxophone, and he eventually joined BTS after auditioning for Big Hit Entertainment in 2013.

After making his official debut with BTS, V also took on acting projects and debuted as an actor in the historical drama Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth. V also starred on In the Soop: Friendcation , a reality show on Disney+ that followed the singer and his real-life actor and musician friends, including Parasite star Choi Woo-shik, while they were on vacation. BTS originated the franchise with 2020's BTS In the Soop .

On his 25th birthday in December 2020, V released the song "Snow Flower," which is a collaboration with singer-songwriter, producer and rapper Peakboy. Upon its release, he also discussed an upcoming solo mixtape.

"This year feels like a stopped moment, and as the end of the year nears, I think there will be a lot of people with increased anxiety and depression. As [the mixtape] was late, I made [the song] in a hurry, feeling sorry for ARMY," he said. "For today, I hope that white flowers will come down to your hearts and feel some warm comfort and happiness."

In December 2021, when the BTS members joined Instagram, V broke two Guinness world records in the process. The singer broke the record for the fastest time to reach both 1 million followers and 10 million followers.

That same month, he released the holiday song, "Christmas Tree," which immediately topped the Billboard charts and earned him his first solo No. 1, per Billboard . The following year, he released a cover of the Christmas song "It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas" on Dec. 23, 2022.

V is reportedly single. However, he's rumored to be dating Jennie from Blackpink . The pair were spotted holding hands on a stroll through Paris in May 2023.

Jungkook, 25

Jungkook (whose full name is Jeon Jung-kook) was born on Sept. 1, 1997, in Busan, South Korea. He is the youngest member of BTS and ARMY affectionately call him "Kookie" or "Golden Maknae," which translates to "golden youngest."

When he was a teenager, Jungkook auditioned for the Korean talent show Superstar K during its third season in 2011. While he never made it to the finals, his audition did get him recognized by a few talent agencies, including Big Hit Entertainment. He began training under the label and joined BTS in 2013 as one of the four main vocalists and a dancer.

Jungkook was inspired by his bandmate J-Hope to make his own music as a solo artist. "It was really funny. After hearing the album, [Jungkook] suddenly went to his studio," J-Hope told Rolling Stone in July 2022. "I think he felt the motivation to start . I love that one of our greatest motivators is one another."

ABC/Paula Lobo

While his solo album is still in the works, he has released a few solo tracks, including "My You," "Still With You," and "Dreamers," which was part of the 2022 FIFA World Cup official soundtrack.

In July 2023, Jungkook made his solo performance debut at  Good Morning America' s Summer Concert Series in New York City. He performed three songs, including his single "Seven," before severe weather rolled over Central Park.

A few months later, Jungkook became the fourth member of BTS to enlist in the South Korean military.

Five BTS members jump into the air while two crouch down for a picture in front of a New Zealand lake in BTS Bon Voyage Season 4

B TS announced today that, after nine years working and living together as a K-pop group, they will be shifting into a new chapter in which the seven members will devote more time to their solo music projects. While we will still be getting lots of music from the individual members (J-Hope is set to be the first to release another album, presumably before he headlines at Lollapalooza in July), the occasional episodes of Run BTS , and life updates via social media , BTS will not be making music and performing it together in the way they have over the past decade… at least not for the immediate future.

While the news has elicited sadness, especially perhaps from newer fans of the globally popular group, it has also been met with understanding and support from most members of the diverse fandom. And as we all wait for the next chapter in BTS history to begin, there is an expansive backlog of BTS content to watch or rewatch. While much of BTS’ content is, of course, music videos and performances, the Korean band has also produced a plethora of additional content in the form of web series, TV shows, and DVD boxsets. If you’re looking for something to binge while processing the transition news, here is you guide to reliving the adventures of Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook so far…

Rookie King (2013)

How many episode s: 8 Where to watch: Viki

BTS debuted in 2013, and Rookie King was their first proper series. The variety show format is super popular in Korea, and many of BTS’ series use it. Rookie King is a variety show that features the members attempting different Korean TV program formats. In the show, BTS takes on different roles, including news anchors, bowlers, and basketball players. Early variety show BTS is truly a place where anything can happen. Rookie King would also give us our first proper example of BTS taking on cooking challenges, which continues to be a running (and hilarious) theme in BTS’ variety show presence today.

American Hustle Life (2014)

How many episode s: 8

This BTS reality show that sees the members traveling to L.A. for two weeks to learn from “hip-hop tutors” like Coolio and Warren G can be tough to watch, as the series is nowhere near prepared to fully engage with K-pop’s history (and present) of cultural appropriation . That being said, sometimes discomfort is something to lean into, and the series can be a good jumping off point for non-Black BTS fans in particular to engage with the topic of K-pop cultural appropriation and also to see how far BTS has come since their debut. I recommend watching American Hustle Life in conjunction with analysis and insight from Black BTS fans, such as journalist Stitch of Stitch’s Media Mix , who has written extensively not only about BTS , but also about cultural appropriation in the age of K-pop .

GO! BTS (2014)

How many episode s: 1

It’s a bit of a stretch to call this one a series, as there is only one episode, but if you’re looking for more content from BTS’ early years, then Go! BTS is a good option. The 45-minute episode follows BTS on their trip to L.A. for KCON 2014. In addition to including some performance footage, the special gives us some of that variety program energy by sending the members on three missions around Laguna Beach.

BTS Summer & Winter Packages (2015-2020)

How many seasons : 6

While the terms “Summer Package” and “Winter Package” refer to entire content bundles, including photobooks and other kinds of merch, every package edition since 2015 has also included a “Making of” DVD that features the members of BTS on photos shoots in different locations around the world. The “Summer Packages” with behind-the-scenes featurettes have been shot in Malaysia, Dubai, the Philippines, Saipan, and Korea, while the 2020 “Winter Package” was shot in a very rainy Finland. If you like BTS Bon Voyage , but have already watched all of the season, then you should definitely check these out.

As with other DVD content on this list, the Winter and Summer Packages content bundles are not super easy to find, as they sold out quickly when they first went up on Weverse. However, you can find the DVDs on secondary markets like eBay, and also find the “Making Of” content via, um, secondary sites.

BTS Gayo (2015-2017)

How many episode s: 15 Where to watch: VLive

BTS Gayo is another BTS variety show, in which the members play games that are specifically related to K-pop. For example, in the first episode, they have to guess iconic K-pop girl group songs based solely on dance clues from other members. BTS hasn’t released an episode of Gayo in a while, probably because the wider umbrella of Run BTS (see the next entry on the list) covers the sorts of K-pop-centric challenges BTS Gayo centers.

Run BTS! (2015-today)

How many episode s: 154 Where to watch: VLive

The ultimate BTS variety show , Run BTS has been, um, running since 2015. The show features the members competing in a variety of games, from zombie escape room challenges to foot volleyball to your classic game of mafia. If they win, they get a reward. If they lose, they get a punishment. Variety show games like this are only as effective as the degree to which the competitors take them seriously, and let me tell you: BTS is all in . These global pop stars may be millionaires, but they will throw down for a coupon like their lives depend on it. Early episodes of Run BTS include the members visiting many an amusement park, while later episodes have gotten both more contained and creative in the challenges. Rest assured, there is something here for everyone—just beware the spies and plot twists.

Run BTS went on hiatus at the end of last year, after six years and more than 154 episodes, but it is set to return during BTS’ hiatus. While it presumably will not have the same episode-a-week schedule as previous seasons, there will be new episodes!

BTS Memories (2015-present)

How many seasons : 6 Where to watch:   Weverse

For every year since 2015, BTS has released a “BTS Memories” DVD boxset that is an expansive behind-the-scenes chronicle of all of their activities from the year. If you’re a fan of BTS’ “Bangtan Bomb” series, which gives fans behind-the-scenes snippets from the members’ schedules, then you will love “BTS Memories.” “BTS Memories,” editions 2019 and 2020 are still available to purchase as DVDs via the Weverse shop, but you will have to get creative for previous years’ content.

Bon Voyage (2016-today)

How many episode s: 32 episodes, across 4 seasons Where to watch: VLive (Seasons 1-3), Weverse* (Season 4)

Bon Voyage is a travel reality show that follows BTS on various trips around the world, including northern Europe in Season 1, Hawaii in Season 2, Malta in Season 3, and New Zealand in Season 4. It’s interesting to see the members out and about in the world, having fun together and on a relative break. (This is still work, but they are not actively promoting or touring.) Over the course of Bon Voyage ‘s four seasons, you will see many a camper van adventure; many a games of rock, paper, scissors; and realize just how central Yoongi is to keeping these members fed when they are left on their own.

Burn the Stage (2018)

How many episode s: 8 Where to watch: YouTube Premium

Burn the Stage is an eight-part series that tells the story of BTS’ massive 300-day The Wings Tour, which took up most of 2017 for the members. Including interviews and show footage, Burn the Stage follows a pretty standard concert film format, giving insight into BTS’ first major world tour. The series would later be turned into a movie, also called Burn the Stage , which was released later in 2018.

Bring the Soul (2019)

How many episode s: 6 Where to watch: Weverse

Similar to Burn the Stage , Bring the Soul is another glimpse into what BTS’ tour life is like. This six-part series follows the seven members of BTS during the Love Yourself World Tour, through the end of the tour’s third, European leg, which concluded in October 2019. It was also released in a more condensed movie format in Bring the Soul: The Movie .

Golden Closet Films (2019)

How many episode s: 7 Where to watch: YouTube, via the BangtanTV channel

Anyone who has ever seen a BTS performance knows how talented Jungkook is as a vocalist and dancer, but the golden maknae of BTS is also interested in filmmaking. Prior to directing the “Life Goes On” BTS music video in 2020, Jungkook released a series of short films in 2019 under the name Golden Closet Films, or G.C.F. The 20-something shot and edited each of the travelogues himself, giving his unique perspective into the life of BTS on the road.

BT21 (2019-today)

How many episode s: 8 main story shorts, plus many additional mini-stories Where to watch: YouTube

Break the Silence (2020)

How many episode s: 7 Where to watch: Weverse

You didn’t think BTS was going to leave you hanging on the final leg of their Love Yourself World Tour, did you? The Break the Silence docu-series picks up where Bring the Soul leaves off, bringing fans on the final, Asian leg of the Love Yourself World Tour and into the Love Yourself: Speak Yourself extension of the tour, which extended the tour through October 2019. As you may have guessed, there is also a movie format version of Break the Silence .

In the Soop (2020-present)

How many episode s: 11 episodes, across two seasons Where to watch: Weverse

BTS gave us many gifts during the COVID-19 pandemic, but In the Soop may be the greatest. The series follows the seven members as they take a “break” from their work schedules to pursue hobbies, hang out, and watch Jin kill fish. Unlike BTS’ variety series, In the Soop has a much looser structure, allowing the members to relax a bit more. Each member made a list of activities they would like to try out while in the titular “soop” (“forest,” in Korean), but there is no reward or punishment for completing or not. Instead, the members can choose to spend their time as they wish, whether that be building Lego or racing remote control boats. (If you like In the Soop , don’t forget to check out shorter behind-the-scenes episodes, also available to watch via Weverse.)

In the Soop returned for a second, shorter season in 2021. Given that BTS will be producing episodes of Run BTS during their hiatus, it is possible they could produce another season of this popular show. At the very least, we will be getting an In the Soop “spin-off” season this summer, featuring V hanging out with his famous friend group, nicknamed the “Wooga squad,” which includes actors Choi Woo-shik, Park Seo-joon, Park Hyung-sik and musician Peakboy.

The Rise of Bangtan (2021-present)

How many episode s: 21 episodes (and counting), plus bonus clips and deleted scenes Where to watch:  YouTube

While this fan-made docu-series isn’t made by BTS or HYBE, it has earned a spot on this list as one of the most comprehensive, well-made introductions to the first few years of BTS’ journey as a group. Made by professional editor and longtime ARMY Aneesa , The Rise of Bangtan follows Bangtan from their debut to (currently) the beginning of the “Love Yourself: Answer” era. With the series set to wrap up with “Chapter 23,” it is the perfect time to dive into this chronicle of what makes BTS special, if you haven’t yet already.

Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell in "Anyone But You."

Anyone But You finally made its Netflix streaming debut, which is exciting news for rom-com fans everywhere. As you watch the movie, you might be wondering where Anyone But You was filmed and if you can visit the breathtaking beaches, cliffs, and other locations in real life.

Loosely adapted from Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing,” Anyone But You stars Glen Powell as Ben, a finance bro who has an incredible first date with Bea (Sydney Sweeney), a law student uncertain about her career. After spending the night, Bea panics and leaves without telling him. When she realizes she made a mistake and returns to his apartment, she overhears Ben saying that she is a “nothing” to him.

Years later, they unexpectedly reunite at a destination wedding in Australia for Bea’s sister, who is marrying Ben’s friend. When their exes show up, they pretend to be a couple—and the rest is history. The film was directed and co-written by Will Gluck, the filmmaker behind rom-coms like Easy A and Friends with Benefits . It was released in December and had an impressive run at the box office, surpassing $88 million domestically and $219 million worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo .

After its release, the movie went viral on TikTok as audience goers reacted to the film’s credit sequence, which features the cast dancing and singing to Natasha Bedingfield’s nostalgic 2004 hit “Unwritten,” a song highlighted throughout the film. There were also rumors of an off-screen romance between Powell and Sweeney that helped promote the film, as well as the actors’ flirty publicity tour and Sydney Sweeney’s SNL monologue .

Now, Anyone But You is back in the limelight after the film was released on Netflix on April 23, quickly becoming the No. 1 movie on the platform in the U.S. after just one day.

WhatsApp Brand New iPhone Feature Just Launched That’s Much Easier To Use

Earth s new second moon is as big as the statue of liberty and scientists just found its origin, new apple id password reset issue hitting iphone ipad and macbook users, where was anyone but you filmed.

Anyone But You was filmed in parts of Australia around New South Wales and Sydney. Director Will Gluck told The Hollywood Reporter that he wanted the film set in Sydney because he had “really fallen in love with the city” and liked it so much he moved his family there.

“Almost every time you shoot a movie in Sydney, you have to pretend it’s somewhere else and frame out the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. For Anyone But You , I thought, “Why do that?” We actually wrote this movie 100 percent for Sydney — very specific to the destination,” Gluck wrote.

The director continued, “We flew helicopters all over — seeing the city from that vantage point is stunning — and landed one at the Opera House, shut down the Harbour Bridge, filmed at the Queen Victoria Building, and shot for two weeks overlooking Bondi Beach,” he said. “We spent a week on a boat in Sydney Harbour shooting a scene where they’re stranded on a buoy, but you can’t have humans in the water without a shark cage, so we had to have one the whole time. You pinch yourself. It’s so unbelievable we were actually doing these things.”

Here are a few specific Anyone But You filming locations you can visit in person.

Sydney Opera House

The Sydney Opera House is a focal point in Anyone But You. The 20th-century architectural landmark serves as a gorgeous backdrop for big moments, including the end scene when Ben passionately kisses Bea, who is standing at the top of the steps. You can visit the performing arts center for special events and tours.

Marks Park, Bondi

Located in Sydney's northern suburbs, the wedding scene in Anyone But You was filmed at Marks Park overlooking Bondi Beach and the Pacific Ocean. The cliff-top park is open to the public and has fitness stations, a playground, and some shaded areas.

Many of Anyone But You ’s breathtaking beach scenes were filmed around Palm Beach. Director Will Gluck told THR that one of the best parts of filming was on location in Palm Beach, a suburb in the Northern Beaches.

“Our caravans were parked right on the water, and Glen and Sydney and I decided to live there the whole time. We’d shoot all day and all the crew would go home, then we’d jump in the water and have a swim, go to our trailers and have dinner sitting outside,” he said. “It’s one of the most beautiful places in the world, and you normally wouldn’t be allowed to sleep there. It was probably the most fun I’ve ever had filming.”

Jones Bay Wharf

The historic Jones Bay Wharf is another familiar filming location in Anyone But You. The hidden gem in the Pyrmont district is home to fine dining restaurants, charming cafes, and beautiful views the of the city and Harbour Bridge.

While on their way to collect flowers for the wedding, Ben and his friend Pete are seen walking alongside the Queen Victoria Building. The Romanesque 19th-century building is actually a five-level shopping center with fashion boutiques, jewelry stores, cafes, and restaurants.

Anyone But You is now streaming on Netflix.

The following year, Porter began releasing music under a new alias, Virtual Self, which led to his first Grammy nomination for the BBC Radio 1 hit single “Ghost Voices.” In 2019, Porter put on the first Second Sky Festival, which sold out all 30,000 tickets for the two-day festival in a single day. In both 2020 and 2021, Porter Robinson hosted editions of his virtual festival Secret Sky, amassing over 6 million viewers combined, and which came to be regarded as the most sophisticated virtual festivals of its time. Later in 2021, following the release of sophomore album Nurture, Second Sky Festival made its return to the Bay Area, selling out 40,000 tickets in a single day. PGA Tour players learn how much loyalty is worth in new equity program

Players who stayed loyal to the PGA Tour amid lucrative recruitment by Saudi-funded LIV Golf are starting to find out how much that loyalty could be worth.

The PGA Tour on Wednesday began contacting the 193 players eligible for the $930 million from a “Player Equity Program” under the new PGA Tour Enterprises .

The bulk of that money — $750 million — went to 36 players based on their career performance, the last five years and how they fared in a recent program that measured their star power.

How much they received was not immediately known. Emails were going out Wednesday afternoon and Thursday informing players of what they would get. One person who saw a list of how the equity shares were doled out said the names had been redacted. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because many details of the program were not made public.

The Telegraph reported Tiger Woods was to receive $100 million in equity and Rory McIlroy could get $50 million, without saying how it came up with those numbers.

Commissioner Jay Monahan outlined the first-of-its-kind equity ownership program in a Feb. 7 memo to players, a week after Strategic Sports Group became a minority investor in the new commercial PGA Tour Enterprises.

The private equity group, a consortium of professional sports owners led by the Fenway Sports Group, made an initial investment of $1.5 billion that could be worth $3 billion. The tour is still negotiating with the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia — the financial muscle behind the rival LIV Golf league — as an investor.

Any deal with PIF would most certainly increase the value of the equity shares.

Another person with knowledge of the Player Equity Program, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the private nature of the dealings, said the equity money is not part of the SSG investment. That money was geared toward growth capital.

Golf.com received a series of informational videos on the Player Equity Program that was sent to players and reported only 50% of the equity would vest after four years, 25% more after six years and the rest of it after eight years.

It also reported how the 36 players from the top tier were judged on “career points,” such as how long they were full members, victories, how often they reached the Tour Championship and extra points for significant victories.

Jason Gore, the tour’s chief player officer, said in one of the videos, “It’s really about making sure that our players know the PGA Tour is the best place to compete and showing them how much the Tour appreciates them being loyal.”

Emails also were sent to 64 players who would share $75 million in aggregate equity based on the past three years, and $30 million to 57 players who are PGA Tour members. Also, $75 million in equity shares was set aside for 36 past players instrumental in building the tour.

The program has an additional $600 million in equity grants that are recurring for future PGA Tour players. Those would be awarded in amounts of $100 million annually started in 2025.

Players only get equity shares from one of the four tiers now, although everyone would be eligible for the recurring grants.

Even with equity ownership geared toward making the PGA Tour better, the concern was players questioning who got how much and whether they received their fair share.

LIV Golf lured away seven major champions dating to 2018 since it launched in 2022, all with guaranteed contracts and most of them believed to have topped $100 million.

McIlroy, playing this week in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, was asked how much would make players feel validated for their decision to stay with the PGA Tour.

“I think the one thing we’ve learned in golf over the last two years is there’s never enough,” McIlroy replied.
