Originally known for its oil, Dubai is now famous for its trade and tourism and has made history as one of the fastest growing cities in the world. Shopping in Dubai is especially popular and highly recommended. If you’re not into shopping, Dubai offers plenty of opportunities to soak up the sun on the beach, too.

Abu Dhabi is known as the “Garden City” and is home to the highest peak in the country. A highlight of any visit to Abu Dhabi is a trip to the Al Ain Zoo. It was once a royal hunting preserve, but you can still see cheetahs, hyenas, Arabian oryx and many other animals running wild there. Abu Dhabi is a city on the move and has big plans to increase its tourist appeal. Soon, there will be a performing arts center and three museums to add to their indoor theme park, grand mosque, and grand prix.

Artificial Islands:

The Palm Islands were created to maximize the availability of highly desirable beachfront property in Dubai. The islands are designed to look like a palm tree which makes for a fun sight from the air, but it’s even more fun to visit the island’s hotels, beaches, shopping malls and theme parks from the ground.

Sheikh Zayed Mosque:

A landmark in Abu Dhabi, it was the vision of the first president of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), but wasn’t completed until after his death in 2004. It’s the largest mosque in the UAE and holds what is possibly the world’s largest hand-knotted carpet.

Oman desert on 4x4 vehicles:

Ask any native and they’ll tell you that one of the best ways to get around in Oman is on a 4x4. They’re a fun way to reach places that are so far off the beaten path that no other mode of transport can get you there.

Oman Grand Mosque:

This is the only mosque open to non-Muslims in Oman. It’s also amongst one of the largest mosques in the gulf. The building itself is made with beautiful white and red-brown marble, but it’s the spacious gardens bisected by water channels on the way into the mosque that make an indelible impression on visitors.

Emirates Building:

These buildings have become iconic symbols of Dubai. They hold a little bit of everything including dining and accommodations right in the heart of the city’s commercial business district.

World’s Tallest Building:

Located in Dubai, Burj Khalifa is the tallest man-made structure in the world. It holds a multitude of world records like: most floors in a building, world’s highest restaurant, world’s highest nightclub, world’s longest elevator travel distance, and most powerful and biggest automated fountain. The word “impressive” doesn’t even begin to cover it.

Be aware of what you are taking photos of. It is important that you ask permission before photographing people. You should avoid photographing Muslim women, government or military buildings, airports, docks, or telecommunications equipment.

The UAE is a very conservative culture. Because of this you should have modest clothing and behavior to show respect to the Muslim culture. Bikinis, swimsuits, shorts and revealing tops should be worn at the beach resorts only.

Laws in the UAE are much different than other areas in the world, especially in relation to alcohol and social behavior. Be respectful and conscious with how you act and what you do.

“UAE” stands for United Arab Emirates, and it’s a federation of seven states, or emirates, located on the eastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula. Abu Dhabi is its capital city.

The UAE uses the United Arab Emirates dirham, abbreviated as AED or Dhs. You can withdraw Dhs from ATMs in the country with a debit or credit card. However, be mindful of any withdrawal and foreign transaction fees your bank may charge.

The official language of the UAE is Arabic. Due to the country’s status as a global trade and tourism hub, English is also widely spoken and understood, particularly in major cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi .

The weather in the UAE varies depending on the season and region—but generally, it’s hot and arid. Here’s a general overview:

• Spring (March-May). Spring in the UAE brings rising temperatures, especially as the season transitions to summer. Daytime temperatures typically range from 77-95 F, with increasing humidity levels as summer approaches.
• Summer (June-August). The UAE experiences extremely hot weather during the summer, with temperatures often exceeding 104 F—and sometimes even reaching 122 F in the interior regions. Humidity levels can be high, too, particularly along the coast, making the heat feel more intense.
• Autumn (September-November). This season marks a transitional period where temperatures gradually decrease from the summer’s peaks. The weather becomes more pleasant, with daytime temperatures ranging from 77-95 F.
• Winter (December-February). With mild weather, winter is the most comfortable time to visit the UAE. Daytime temperatures range from around 68-77 F, making it ideal for outdoor activities. However, nights can be cooler, especially in the desert areas.

We’d say October-February: The temperature occasionally gets cool enough to require a light jacket or sweater. But if you want to visit beaches, plan your visit in either October, March, or April, when the weather’s hot but pleasant.

• High Season (November-March). This is when Dubai sees the highest number of visitors. Moderate temperatures enable major festivals and events, and al fresco dining lasts late into the night. However, accommodation rates are high during this time.
• Shoulder Season (April-May and September-October). This can be an ideal time to book one of our UAE tours—especially if you want to experience the best the country has to offer without peak-season crowds or scorching summer heat.

The UAE is known for its hot days, cool nights, and luxurious lifestyle. Here’s what we’d suggest packing for one of our UAE tours :

• Modest clothing. While Dubai and Abu Dhabi are considered to be more liberal than some neighboring cities, the UAE is a Muslim country. Local customs concerning dress are strict and should be respected. Bare shoulders and knees are considered inappropriate in public places, though swimwear is acceptable at beaches and pools.
• Lightweight clothing. The UAE can get very hot—especially in the summer—so lightweight, breathable fabrics are a good choice. Cotton, linen, or quick-dry materials are best for days outside, though a light scarf or extra layer may be needed for chillier evenings and early mornings.
• Footwear. You may want supportive walking sandals to keep cool during city sightseeing. Comfortable closed-toe shoes, such as sneakers or lightweight hiking boots, are best for activities in the desert.
• Sun protection. Bring sunscreen, glasses, and a broad-brimmed hat to protect your face and the back of your neck from the desert sun.
• Clothing for special occasions. You may want to pack dressier attire if you plan to visit a high-end restaurant or attend a special performance.
• Clothing for religious sites. It’s preferable not to visit mosques or other religious sites with bare legs and shoulders; you may be denied entrance on this basis. In addition, we recommend female-identifying travelers bring a light scarf, as they may have to cover their heads and hair to enter these sites.
• Swimwear. If you plan to visit the beach or a hotel pool, don’t forget to pack swimwear.

• Dubai. The most populous city in the United Arab Emirates, Dubai is a business hub in the Middle East. It’s famous for its towering skyscrapers—including the Burj Khalifa , the tallest building in the world. • Machboos (majboos/kabsa).  This flavorful, hearty dish is a national staple. It’s typically prepared with fluffy rice, aromatic spices, meat (chicken, lamb, even camel), and sometimes nuts.
• Shawarma.  This ubiquitous street food features marinated meat (chicken, beef, or lamb) shaved off a vertical rotisserie and served in pita bread with vegetables and sauces. It’s a delicious and convenient option.
• Falafel.  These deep-fried chickpea fritters are a vegetarian delight and popular throughout the Middle East. Enjoy them in pita bread with hummus, tahini, and vegetables.

Dress code.  While attitudes toward dress are slowly relaxing, modesty is still appreciated, especially outside major tourist areas. Both male- and female-identifying travelers should opt for loose-fitting clothing that covers the shoulders and knees and avoid overly revealing clothing like shorts or tank tops. Dress modestly when visiting mosques; please note that female-identifying travelers might be required to cover their heads with a scarf.

Public displays of affection (PDA).  PDA is generally frowned upon. Holding hands might be acceptable, but avoid anything more passionate in public.

Ramadan.  If visiting during Ramadan, the Muslim holy month, be mindful of fasting practices. Avoid eating, drinking, or smoking in public during daylight hours. Restaurants will have separate areas for those not fasting.

Photography.  It’s courteous to ask permission before photographing people, especially Emirati women. Photography of government buildings and military installations is often restricted.

Bargaining.  Bargaining is expected in traditional souks, but be polite and respectful during negotiations.

Alcohol.  Alcohol consumption is restricted to licensed venues in hotels and some restaurants. Public intoxication is a serious offense.

Simply put, the UAE is hot. Very hot. Year-round, daytime temperatures rarely drop below 77.F, and, during summer, roar well into the 100s. November to March are the cooler – though by no means cool – months, when tempering sea breezes drift in from the coast. Don’t be too put-off by the prospect of traveling during summer though (July to August), as the cities are covered and air-conditioned.

History and government

Very few countries have had as dramatic turnabouts in their fortunes as the UAE. Prior to the discovery of the region’s vast petroleum and gas reserves in 1958, the southeastern tip of the Arabian Peninsula was a conglomeration of ‘Trucial States’ heavily dependent on a fated pearling industry and British protection against neighboring powerhouses. 

In what was an unusual move given the recent discovery of the 'black gold', 1968 saw Britain decide that the area was no longer worth protecting. The British naval forces withdrew in 1971, and, as Iran and Saudi Arabia quickly started laying claim to Emirati territory, the seven sheikdoms realized they’d stand a better chance by banding together. Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Sharjah, Umm al-Quwain (and eventually Ras al-Khaimah) all promptly signed into a union called the United Arab Emirates, electing Sheik Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan as president. The federation is governed by hereditary monarchies, and things have been peaceful, and prosperous, ever since.

For all its obsession with urbanity, the Emirates is still very much a coastal nation. The country encompasses over 400 miles of coastline; plenty of which is warm waters and white sands shaded by palm trees. Better yet, not far from shore sit an abundance of colorful coral reefs teeming with fish. Head out for a snorkel in Sandy Beach, Fujairah, or delve a little deeper still on a diving expedition.

2. Flyboards

3. Indoors ski resort

Ok, Whistler it ain’t, but being able to hit the slopes inside a shopping mall – let alone in the Arabian Peninsula – is still an impressive feat. Located in Dubai’s Mall of the Emirates, Ski Dubai is an indoor ski resort that includes runs, jumps, rails, lifts, and the world’s very first black diamond run.

4. Desert ice café

No matter what the temperature’s doing outside, things are always well chilly inside at Dubai’s Chillout lounge. With the cooling system set at minus six degrees, this restaurant/cafe is the place to rug up in thermals and sip a hot chocolate while moaning about the cold.

5. Dubai surf pool

The swell doesn’t roll in all that often in this corner of the globe, but it is possible to score surf in the UAE. Dubai’s Jumeirah Beach is the best bet, but a far more reliable one is Abu Dhabi’s Wadi Adventure park, where the waves are guaranteed no matter what the conditions are doing. Not only that though they’ll be whatever type of waves you want. Lefts? Rights? Three foot? Six? Simply rock up at the booth, tell the man at the controls, and the barrels start when you tell them to.

Public toilets in places frequented by Westerners are generally of the Western-style, sit-down variety. Beyond the cities, squat-style toilets are more common (although these are gradually making way for the Western type).

Can I drink the water in the UAE?

Technically yes, as the tap water is desalinated seawater. People have reported feeling ill from it before however – supposedly because of the hygiene (or lack thereof) of the tank – so filtered water is a safer option.

Are credit cards accepted widely in the UAE?

Yes. All the major cards are widely accepted, though you’ll usually need to pay cash in taxis.

What is ATM access like in the UAE?

ATMs are easily found in the UAE’s urban areas. Most accept Switch, Maestro, Cirrus, Union Pay, Visa and MasterCard.

Travel Tips

• Both men and women should always cover their shoulders and knees when out in public. Swimsuits, shorts, and short-sleeved shirts are acceptable only at hotels and resorts. Women are also required to wear a headscarf when visiting religious sites.
• PDA is not appropriate in the UAE or any Gulf country, including holding hands. Avoid touching members of the opposite sex altogether when you’re in public. It’s not odd to see two males holding hands or greeting each other with a kiss, however.
• To get the best deal, haggle at the souks - but always be prepared to pay whatever price you suggest!
• Weekends in the UAE fall on the Friday and Saturday.
• Don’t expect to be served alcohol at a restaurant. Booze is only available at hotels and other ‘tourist’ zones like on-resort nightclubs and some golf clubs.
• Though Dubai is certainly the most popular destination in the UAE, make sure to get out of the glamorous city to discover all the seven emirates have to offer.

The United Arab Emirates is a small yet fascinating country, home to the Burj Khalifa, which is the tallest building in the world. The UAE is a famous tourist destination for many reasons filled with luxurious hotels, soaring skyscrapers, massive malls, the Formula 1 racing track, Ferrari World, and delicious Shawarma. The shimmering, futuristic skyline of Dubai is filled with world-class structures, glistening beaches, and fascinating attractions. The extensive desert of the UAE is filled with safari adventures, dune bashing, belly dancing, and overnight camp stays. Abu Dhabi is home to the magnificent majestic Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, one of the most beautiful and picturesque locations in the entire world.

The stunning sights of Dubai feature the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world and the largest mall in the world along with the magnificent man-made islands of Palm Jumeirah. Abu Dhabi is the modern capital of the UAE, a dynamic city with a stunning skyline filled with skyscrapers, futuristic buildings, massive malls all on a spectacular T-shaped Island on the Persian Gulf. Fujairah features a stunning coastline that sits on the Gulf of Oman, home to the oldest most in the country along with other historical buildings, forts and castles.

October through April - The United Arab Emirates experiences two seasons: hot and hotter. Temperatures range from the upper 70s to the low 90s. A few rain drizzles may be expected here and there, but they are rare and short-lived. This is the high season when sun-seekers from around the globe flock to the Persian Gulf`s white sands and desirable weather. It is recommended hotel reservations be made in advance to ensure availability. May through September - During these months the city`s temperatures rarely drop below 100 degrees. Although rainfall is scarce, humidity levels remain in the 90% range. Outdoor activities in weather like this can be unbearable and even dangerous. It is advised to stay away from the midday sun, wear sunscreen, and drink plenty of water to avoid heatstroke. Visitors who know they will be mainly indoors during these summer months should be able to manage the extreme heat. Hotel rates will generally be lower than they are during the high season, but not by a significant amount. Ramadan - Ramadan is the 9th and holiest month in the Islamic calendar and lasts 29 - 30 days. Muslims fast every day for its duration and most restaurants will be closed until the fast breaks at dusk. Nothing (including water and cigarettes) is supposed to pass through the lips from dawn to sunset. Non-Muslims are exempt from this, but should still refrain from eating or drinking in public as this is considered very impolite. Working hours are decreased as well in the corporate world. The exact dates of Ramadan depend on local astronomical observations and may vary somewhat from country to country. Ramadan concludes with the festival of Eid al-Fitr, which may last several days, usually three in most countries.

The best way to get around the UAE is by car on a good network of roads that are easily navigable. Airlines are limited to the largest cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi from other international destinations, therefore connecting to other cities can be done by renting a car and driving. The roads here are some of the best in the entire world with great signage in English and most cars are automatic with air conditioning. Distances between cities in the UAE are relatively short. Distances in the UAE are relatively short. The roads are generally in excellent condition; however, signage is poor in some of the emirates. By Car: Traveling around the UAE by car is a great way to see the different cities, sights, and attractions with affordable car rentals and cheap gas. A car will provide travelers the flexibility to see the surrounding areas at their own pace. An international driver`s license is required, a passport, and a major credit card along with comprehensive insurance to rent a car in the UAE. The roads here are very well maintained and signposted in English, driving is on the right-hand side of the road. Vehicles have air conditioning and many are automatic making driving conditions cool and easy. By Minibuses: Minibuses travel between Dubai and Abu Dhabi and are convenient and very useful for visitors to connect from one city to the other By Taxi: Getting around by taxi is one of the most convenient ways to travel around the UAE and commute between the cities and towns. The taxis in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain are metered, but in Dubai, they are not, make sure to negotiate and finalize the fares before traveling. By Boat: There are options to get around different locations by the waterways especially in Dubai, onboard boats, traditional abras, dhows, ferries, and yachts. Abras cross over the Dubai Creek from Bur Dubai to Deira. Dhows also transport goods through the Gulf and India, calling at all cities in the UAE including Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

The official currency in the UAE is the Dirham also referred to as the prefix AED (Arab Emirate Dirham) or abbreviation Dhs which would follow the numeric amount. The dirham and the US dollar exchange rate is fixed at US$1 = Dhs 3.67. There is a 10% service charge added to bills in hotels, restaurants, and bars, additional tips can be left in the amount of a few dirhams as most of the time the service charge goes to the restaurant and not the person who served you. Nabil, our guide, shared great information about Dubai. He was patient and organized. All of our drivers were friendly and on time. I would suggest a group Zoom call prior to the trip and a moment before the start of the itinerary to introduce all members of the group. I would definitely recommend this tour to others. It had the right amount of cultural and leisure excursions. More time was needed for shopping in the markets!

Overall this is a good tour. Guide was excellent, accommodation also, food was good. Some visits needed to be more than a drive by.

The was well organized and the tour director was excellent, the drivers were very professional. Food was great. Hotels were excellent. The only problem for the cruise in Oman. It was too hot, and there was too much restrictions after crossing the border. I don't think that this should be part of the package in the fure.

The itinerary was a little packed especially during the day at Ahu Dhabi. Instead of visiting several places for photo stops only, it is better to have fewer but more in depth stops.

The best feeling, I got from this tour is that my only job was to have fun at all time. We were provided tickets, schedule, itinerary, rides and contact information. Everything was on time. Everything was transparent and I loved the patience they showed answering all my questions and providing different options for the hotels until we found the perfect one. The tour guides and the drivers were polite and always happy to share curious and fuт information about the country and cities. Recommend each and every place we visited Burj Kalifa, desert, Abu Dabi, and the night cruise in Dubai.

It was mostly a private tour since we were 6 in this trip, and sometime we were combined with others on a big bus just like any big tours. Over all it was a great experienced although it missed some schedules, but they were able to compensate us and fixed it. I highly recommend this company! I enjoyed the Safari experienced and Abu Dhabi mosque visit. The price is also reasonable.

To Whom It May Concern, I'll start from the beginning. Once we were dropped off at Mercure Barsha Height Hotel. There was no reservations for the four of us. It took us almost two hours to get the rooms. We still had not received our itinerary for the week nor the whatsapp contact information. I had to request both again upon our arrival. Day 2-Guided Dubai city tour with Dubai Frame was to include ride across dubai creek, gold and spice souk. The driver Hasan told us that was apart of the tour for us on day 2 so we showed him the itinerary and then he called in. He took us over there and only allowed us 15 minutes at gold and 15 minutes at the spice souk. This was bad because he did not want to do it and it showed because we were not given the allotted time we were suppose to have. We were put in the middle of an issue that was not our to handle. I will not ever use Tour Radar again because to not have a handle on the 3rd party companies you use is not good. I had given the company information to others and now to have used it was not a great experience. The hotel was more like a 3 star instead of a 4 star, if it was not for the excellent customer service the hotel provided I would have been requesting part of our money back.

A tour I recommend. Well organised. Really busy but we saw and learned a lot. Michael who met us at the airport was personable professional and helpful. The guides for the day in Cairo and on tour in the Nile were excellent and knowledgeable. And gave excellent insight into early Egypt life. Next tile we would choosse a slower pace and soend 7 nights on the Nile. And ten days or more in Morocco as we had only glimpses of Casablanca and Marrakech.

Our 10th day May 1-10,2024 tour to Dubai & Egypt was well organized by Tourradar & Vacation to go travel.In Dubai ,the tourguide showed us & toured the beautiful Dubai. We were provided with 5 star hotel.Ahmed toured us to the scenic places of Dubai.What an amazing architecture of the buildings. In Cairo, Michael welcomed us @ the airport. He was very friendly. Back in Cairo,Mansour took us to the pyramids etc.We flew down to Aswan & he was very knowledgeable with the Egyptian history. We rode the motor boat seeing the nice tourist spots of Aswan & then rode the cruise going to Luxor.We enjoyed our time with him as well. We met new friends in this tour..What a nice experience! Awesome & Amazing to see Dubai & Egypt..

I received ahead of the trip the schedule of what to expect with times a locations. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and nice. The hotel was picked with care and we got a great hotel that went beyond our expectations. The airline selected was one of the best ones and the price of the trips were convenient.

WHAT A JOKE OF A TOUR COMPANY. THE HOTEL, SOCIAL HOTEL,THEY HAD ME IN WAS CLOSE TO THE METRO. THAT IS ALL I CAN SAY POSITIVE ABOUT IT. CHECK IN WAS SUPPOSE TO BE AT 2;OO PM. THAT ONLY APPLIES TO THOSE THAT WILL TAKE A SMOKING ROOM. THE CLEANING STAFF ARE STILL CLEANING ROOMS TILL 5-6 OCLOCK AT NIGHT. ITS A LONG WAIT TO GET IN. I WAS IN THE HOTEL 5 NIGHTS. NOT ONCE DID I HAVE HOT WATER ANYTIME OF THE DAY. I TOOK LUKE WATER SHOWERS. THIS MIGHT BE GREAT IN THE HEAT OF SUMMER BUT NOT GOOD IN THE WINTER. THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH MY ROOM. THE KEY CARD CONTROLED THE ELECTRIC FOR THE ROOM. I WOULD TURN OFF ALL THE LIGHTS AND LIGHTS WOULD ALL TURN ON AT ONCE. AFTER DEALING WITH THE SITUATION I CALLED THE DESK, THEY WERE SENDING THE ENGINEER UP. SERIOUSLY THE GUY DIDN'T EVEN LOOK 18 AND UNDERSTOOD ZERO ENGLISH. HE FIDDLED WITH A SCREW DRIVER IN THE KEY CARD ELECTRIC HOLDER. AFTER THAT THE LIGHTS NEVER WENT OFF EVEN WHEN THE KEY CARD WAS REMOVED. I SLEPT 2 NIGHTS WITH ALL THE ROOM LIGHTS ON. AS FAR AS THE HALF DAY CITY TOUR OF DUBAI-CLEARLY TOURISM IN DUBAI HAS NOT A CLUE WHAT TRAVELERS WANT FOR A TOUR. I KNEW THE RIDE ON THE TOUR WAS SHARED. WHAT I HAD NOT KNOWN WAS THAT RIDE SHARE MEANT PICKING UP OTHERS ALL OVER THE AREA OF DUBAI-WHICH COULD BE 10 MILES OR MORE. THE PICKUP TIME WAS ANYWHRE FROM 30-45 MINUTES ONE WAITED IN THE HOTEL LOBBY. MORE TIME WAS SPENT PICKING UP AND THEN THE SAME PROCCESS DROPPPING OFF AFTER THE TOUR. MY DROP OFF INCLUDED THE DRIVER STOPPING TO PICK UP HIS LUNCH WHILE I WAITED IN THE VAN. THE HOTEL I WAS STAYING IN HAD CHANGED NAMES IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS AND NON OF THE DRIVERS TO FOR PICK UP COULD FIND THE HOTEL. ONE DRIVER WAS WALKING AROUND TRYING TO FIND THE HOTEL. ABU DABI TOUR WAS SLIGHTLY BETTER. BUT AGAIN THE TOUR HAD SOME OF US STAYING OVER NIGHT IN ABU DABI. BECAUSE OF THAT TIME TAKEN TO GO TO THE HOTEL, THE OTHERS DID NOT GET TO SEE EVERYTHING THAT WAS ON THE SIGHTSEEING ITINERARY. DUBAI NOR THE ABU DHABI TOUR STUCK TO THE INTINERARY OF SIGHTS TO SEE. DO TO TORRENTIAL RAINS WHILE THERE THE DESERT SAFARI AND BBQ WAS CANCELED. I HAD TEXT THE TOUR COMPANY ABOUT THE CREDIT FOR THE COST OF THE CANCELED ACTIVITIY. I LEFT THINKING THIS WOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF. A MONTH LATER WHEN I GOT HOME I FIND THEY DID NOTHING IN THE WAY CREDITING MY CARD. I THEN HAD TO COMMUNICATE SEVERAL TIMES WITH THE COMPANY TILL I FINALLY GOT THE CREDIT ON MY CARD. I WOULD HAVE GIVEN THE COMPANY NO STARTS BUT THAT DOES NOT SEEM TO BE AVAILABLE. DON'T TAKE TOURS WITH THIS TOUR COMPANY.
