Tom Cruise accepted his MTV award while piloting his own plane on Sunday during a pre-recorded message.

It’s a high-flying achievement.

Tom Cruise took the skies in his P-51 Mustang plane Sunday to accept his MTV Movie Award for Best Performance in a Movie for the film “Top Gun: Maverick.”

The 60-year-old, who had his golden popcorn trophy in the co-pilot’s seat, thanked his fanbase for their love and support in a pre-recorded message.

“Hi, everyone, thank you so much for this award,” said Cruise. “I make these films for you. I love you. I love entertaining you. How much you enjoy it, how much you appreciate it. There is no better feeling and I hope you enjoy this.”

The A-list actor also took time to plug his upcoming “Mission Impossible” film.

“I hope you enjoy ‘Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1.’ It’ll be coming out in July,” said Cruise, adding that the film will be a “wild ride.”

“Have a wonderful summer. Thank you again for letting me entertain you. It’s an absolute privilege. We’ll see you at the movies,” finished Cruise before maneuvering his plane back down toward the ground.

The actor was nominated for the award alongside “Elvis” star Austin Butler, KeKe Palmer from “Nope,” Florence Pugh for the thriller “Don’t Worry Darling” and Micheal B. Jordan for “Creed III.”

The Post reached out to Cruise for comment.

Tom Cruise took the skies in his P-51 Mustang plane Sunday to accept his MTV Movie Award for Best Performance in a Movie for the film "Top Gun: Maverick."

The appearance inside the plane marked the “Jack Reacher” star’s second pre-recorded message of the evening.

During the coronation concert for King Charles III, the actor delivered another gravity-defying statement to the newly-crowned monarch.

“Your Majesty, you can be my wingman anytime,” said Cruise acknowledging the King’s 23-year military service record in both the Navy and Air Force.

The 60-year-old, who had his golden popcorn trophy in the copilot’s seat, thanked his fanbase for their love and support in a pre-recorded message.

Fans were divided over the obnoxious acceptance speech.

“Hey, this is the same clip from the coronation,” tweeted one fan.

“No one accepts an award better than @TomCruise,” gushed another.

During the coronation concert for King Charles III, the actor delivered another gravity-defying statement to the newly-crowned monarch.

“WAHHOOOO CONGRATULATIONS TC,” said one very excited person.

Other viewers slammed the Golden Globe actor’s win saying that Austin Butler, 31, should have won.

“Nah Austin should have won,” tweeted one person.

“You’re joking,” said another.

The 2023 MTV Awards were among the first casualties of the ongoing writers’ strike after host Drew Barrymore dropped out mere days before the show was set to air in support of the protestors.

“I have listened to the writers, and in order to truly respect them, I will pivot from hosting the MTV Movie & TV Awards live in solidarity with the strike,” said Barrymore, 48, in a statement. “Everything we celebrate and honor about movies and television is born out of their creation.”

“And until a solution is reached, I am choosing to wait but I’ll be watching from home and hope you will join me. I thank MTV, who has truly been some of the best partners I have ever worked with,” Barrymore’s statement continued. “I can’t wait to be a part of this next year, when I can truly celebrate everything that MTV has created, which is a show that allows fans to choose who the awards go to and is truly inclusive.”

Tom Cruise Thanks Hollywood for Enabling His ‘Adventurous Life’

Portrait of Alejandra Gularte

Tom Cruise has transitioned from piloting his own stunts to piloting blockbuster motion pictures (and also still doing his own stunts). During the 34th annual Producers Guild Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, Cruise accepted the David O. Selznick Achievement Award for his work producing films since 1996, including the Oscar-nominated film Top Gun: Maverick . Introduced by Paramount legend Sherry Lansing , who was an intricate collaborator in Cruise’s career, she green-lit one of his most recognizable franchises, Mission Impossible , starting off Cruise’s career as a multi-hyphenate.

During his speech, Cruise thanked Lansing for their work together and remembered his beginning in Hollywood, starring in 1981’s Taps , the film that inspired him to become a producer. “I was absolutely amazed by the craftsmanship and also the tremendous efforts that it took to make a film,” said Cruise. “I was overwhelmed by what I didn’t know.” He went on to thank those closest to him in his career, including filmmakers Christopher McQuarrie and Brian De Palma and his first agent, Paula Wagner. Lastly, Cruise thanked the producers in the room for his decades-long career in Hollywood: “You’ve all enabled me the adventurous life that I wanted.”

Watch Tom Cruise accept his MTV Movie & TV Award while flying a fighter jet

Tom Cruise gave the most Tom Cruise acceptance speech of all time at this year’s MTV Movie & TV Awards.

The action superstar, who famously does his own stunts, delivered a pre-recorded speech on May 7 while piloting a World War II propeller plane high in the sky with the MTV popcorn statuette strapped in the back seat.

Cruise, 60, won for best performance in a movie for "Top Gun: Maverick."

“Hi everyone, thank you so much for this award,” he said from the cockpit. “I make these films for you. I love you. I love entertaining you. To know how much you enjoy it, how much you appreciate it, there’s just no better feeling.”

Cruise then got in a plug for his upcoming action movie "Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One," coming up in July. That film contains what Paramount Pictures called " the biggest stunt in cinema history ," which involves Cruise riding a motorcycle off a cliff into a BASE jump.

Tom Cruise

In his acceptance speech, Cruise appears to be flying the P-51 Mustang plane that he owns, which appeared in "Top Gun: Maverick." Cruise also took former late-night host James Corden for a memorable ride on the plane last year.

“You have a wonderful summer," Cruise said in his speech. "Thank you again for letting me entertain you. It’s an absolute privilege. We’ll see you at the movies.”

Cruise then banks the plane away from the cameras to fly into the clouds.

The MTV Movie & TV Awards featured a host of pre-taped speeches after pivoting from a live event due to the Hollywood writers' strike.

Drew Barrymore stepped down from her hosting duties three days before the ceremony as a show of solidarity with the Writers Guild of America.

Cruise appeared to be multitasking on his flight in the P-51 Mustang. He recorded a similar message from the same plane that was played for King Charles III during the coronation concert in London on May 8.

The monarch is a veteran of the Britain's Royal Air Force.

“Pilot to pilot," Cruise said. "Your Majesty, you can be my wingman any time.”

Top Gun Maverick

Tom Cruise is synonymous with movie stardom. But over the decades, Cruise has also developed a talent for producing the films he stars in, along with a few other movies where he’s not the name above the title.

In gratitude for, you know, nearly saving the movie business this summer with “ Top Gun: Maverick ,” Cruise will be honored with the 2023 David O. Selznick Achievement Award by the Producers Guild of America (PGA). He will accept the honor at the 34th Annual Producers Guild Awards on Feb. 25, 2023, at The Beverly Hilton.

“Beginning with ‘Mission: Impossible,’ Tom Cruise has developed a talent for producing to match his extraordinary talent as an actor. Tom approaches producing with the same meticulous attention to detail he brings to all of his professional endeavors,” said Producers Guild Presidents Donald De Line and Stephanie Allain. “His commitment to telling bold, cinematic and entertaining stories has elevated the global theatrical experience and has resulted in some of the most popular motion pictures in history.  We are thrilled to honor him with the David O. Selznick Award for his excellence in producing.”

Cruise’s films have earned over $11 billion in worldwide box office. His producing credits include the “Mission: Impossible” and “Jack Reacher” franchises, “Vanilla Sky,” “The Last Samurai” and “Elizabethtown.” Cruise will produce as well as star in “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part 1” and “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part 2.”

I want you to know that I’m always rooting for you. I’m rooting for all of you,” he said while accepting the David O. Selznick Achievement Award during the 2023 PGA Awards on Saturday night

Cruise’s latest movie Top Gun: Maverick has earned nearly $1.5 billion at the global box office since its release and has received recognition from critics groups and awards organizations, including a best picture Oscar nomination. Earlier this month, during the Oscar nominees luncheon, where Cruise made a much-buzzed-about appearance, Spielberg praised Cruise , saying, “You saved Hollywood’s ass, and you might have saved theatrical distribution.”

“I’ve spent many hours in his home and at his table talking about movies,” said Cruise of Spielberg during his acceptance speech. “It was at his dinner table that I met Brian De Palma.” Cruise went on to say he stayed up all night watching all of De Palma’s movies and called the next day to offer him the directing job on the first Mission: Impossible movie.

After a glowing introduction by former Paramount Pictures boss Sherry Lansing, Cruise teared up as the exec said, “Quite simply every day is better because of you.”

Lansing shared her early days with the actor in 20th Century Fox’s Taps (1981) and also how he wanted to take his first stab at producing with 1996’s Mission: Impossible . The studio boss had her doubts about Cruise in an ensemble, but better a little Cruise than none at all, she thought at the time. But then Lansing read the script, which had the whole Mission: Impossible team dying in the beginning and Cruise’s Ethan Hunt surviving to avenge their death.

What impressed her the most, though, was that Cruise understood the studio side of the business.

“He didn’t see us as his enemy. When the budget came in high, Tom worked to bring it down without damaging the movie,” said Lansing.

“Tom Cruise showed us that moviegoing was back,” she said about the actor-producer’s determination to keep Top Gun: Maverick as a theatrical release. And its release held during the pandemic, despite inner-studio politics that wanted to put the sequel on Paramount+.

“He watched every day of dailies … watched all the previews,” Lansing said about his determination to produce the best movie. The actor would hide in the projection room or the back of the room to catch the audience reaction during test screenings. If only audiences knew that Cruise was watching them.

Taking the stage, Cruise told Lansing, “You’re an exceptional person, and you’ve had a tremendous impact on my career.”

Cruise talked about his childhood, working various jobs so he could go to the movies. “Whenever I didn’t have the money, I’d figure out a way to sneak in,” the actor said.

Then one day, he was 18 years old in Valley Forge, PA. “I wasn’t watching a movie, but on the set making one.” That pic was Taps , which starred and Timothy Hutton, hot off his Oscar win for Ordinary People, and freshman actor Sean Penn. It was there that Cruise further fell in love with moviemaking, becoming a student of the craft on the set of Taps, exploring the production through various departments thanks to director Harold Becker and producer Howard Jaffe with “their decades of wisdom”

“I was overwhelmed by what I didn’t know,” said Cruise. “How do I become competent in this?”

Following Taps, Penn invited Cruise to Los Angeles, where he met Paula Wagner. She’d become his talent rep and, in future years, his producing partner. He gave big thanks to her husband Rick Nicita, Bert Fields and CAA’s Kevin Huvane.

Cruise told the room that he understood if his movies were good, they’d make money and everyone who worked with him would share in that on his productions. He imparted that philosophy to the room, emphasizing as everyone in the motion picture industry does well, it benefits all, the studio, the overall industry ecosystem.

“You have to create that luck and will it into existence,” said Cruise. “I’m rooting for all of you.”

Cruise largely has been absent on the awards circuit for Top Gun: Maverick, but that’s not a coincidence: He’s popped up at key moments during the post-noms Oscar phase at the Nominees Luncheon and tonight at the PGA awards. It’s just about when Paramount wants to spring its secret weapon. Cruise received an honorary Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival back when Top Gun: Maverick made its overseas premiere there in May in addition to the four-time Oscar nominee receiving a retrospective from the fest .

“I want to thank audiences for allowing me to entertain you,” said the actor.

The Selznick Achievement Award recognizes a producer or producing team for their extraordinary body of work in motion pictures. Past recipients include Steven Spielberg, Barbara Broccoli, Mary Parent, Brian Grazer, David Heyman and Kevin Feige.

Cruise thanked everyone for letting him entertain them a few times before telling everybody to check out the upcoming  Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One .  For those wondering, the movie is slated for release on July 12 of 2023. Given the kinds of stunts we've seen on display in the Mission: Impossible series so far, it only makes sense that the stunts in the upcoming movie are bigger than ever. Some notable sequences from the franchise’s past include Cruise scaling the Burj Khalifa, or hanging off the outside of a jetplane during takeoff.

It’s also been teased that there'll be some kind of huge motorcycle jump in  Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One.  While they might be extremely dangerous and sometimes we worry for Cruise’s safety, that’s part of the fun. He shows no indication that he plans on slowing the stunts down any time soon, even though Cruise is now 60 years old. The stunts are part of his brand now... The reason people go out to see his movies. It’s definitely a big part of what made Top Gun: Maverick  so impressive.

Watch Tom Cruise accept his MTV Movie Award while flying a vintage fighter jet

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

Things we'll never forget: @TomCruise 's performance in #TopGun : Maverick 🎥 Congrats to Tom Cruise on winning Best Performance in a Movie at the 2023 #MTVAwards ! pic.twitter.com/dZr3Wglpdq — Movie & TV Awards (@MTVAwards) May 8, 2023

Watch Tom Cruise Fly A Plane To Accept His MTV Movie Award After He'd Skipped The Oscars

This man went to the danger zone for the golden popcorn.

Tom Cruise 's absence at the Oscars this year definitely didn't go unnoticed, and while it was reported he was filming the new Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part II , rumors pointed to there being more to the story, including drama with his ex-Nicole Kidman . Cruise was as absent as everyone else for this year's MTV Movie & TV Awards, but he still made a hell of a video acceptance speech for his Top Gun: Maverick win by embodying his character in full and actually piloting a plane.

Tom Cruise came up empty at the 2023 Academy Awards, but he and the movie Top Gun : Maverick got off to a great start at the MTV Movie & TV Awards. Cruise won the Best Performance in a Movie trophy for his reprisal as Pete "Maverick" Mitchell and decided to commemorate that in a very special way. In his acceptance video, Cruise was seen flying high in a military plane with the popcorn-covered award seated behind him as co-pilot. Check out the video below:

Things we'll never forget: @TomCruise's performance in #TopGun: Maverick 🎥 Congrats to Tom Cruise on winning Best Performance in a Movie at the 2023 #MTVAwards! pic.twitter.com/dZr3Wglpdq May 8, 2023

I was very concerned when Tom Cruise spent so long looking at the camera and not the airspace in front of him, but then I realized flying is not like driving a car. Of course, I was only a little surprised that Cruise would do something so daring for an MTV Movie & TV Award acceptance video, but he's kind of built a reputation on doing daring stunts. Compared to Cruise filming fight scenes on top of a train , or skydiving with James Corden , this is pretty tame for him.

Tom Cruise was one of many celebrities who sent in a taped acceptance speech, as the MTV Movie & TV Awards was pre-taped this year due to the 2023 WGA writers' strike . Drew Barrymore was originally scheduled to host but pulled out of the live show in an act of solidarity with the writers on strike. While Barrymore did not host the event, the award show kept in the skits she pre-taped ahead of her decision and ran them throughout the night in between award show acceptance videos and clips of previous MTV Movie Award shows.

Not every celebrity went as far as Tom Cruise for their acceptance video. Many celebrities, like Jennifer Coolidge , chose a more parred-down experience that was nothing more than them accepting the award from a room in their house. Hats off to Cruise for going the extra mile for MTV, though I'm sure no one had to twist his arm too hard to do a plane stunt for a camera.

If you're hungry for more of Tom Cruise in a plane, pick up a Paramount+ subscription and stream Top Gun: Maverick right now. I will say that Tom Cruise is well-deserving of his Golden Popcorn award for his performance, and probably a lot more awards than this movie has gotten in the past year.

Prince William Joins Surprise Guest Tom Cruise at Charity Gala amid Kate Middleton and King's Health Scares

The Prince of Wales was a guest of honor at the London Air Ambulance gala dinner after a morning spent handing out awards at Windsor Castle

Prince William  stepped out for a favorite cause amid his family members' recent health news.

The Prince of Wales, 41, returned to royal duty on Wednesday for the first time since news broke last month of his wife  Kate Middleton ’s abdominal surgery on Jan. 16 as well as his father King Charles ' cancer diagnosis , revealed earlier this week.

After hosting an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle in the morning, Prince William headed to London for the London’s Air Ambulance Charity Gala Dinner. As he arrived, William quickly answered a question about the public support in recent weeks: "We really appreciate everyone’s kind messages. Thank you."

The event, held at a central London hotel, had the aim of raising funds for the London Air Ambulance, which Prince William has supported for about four years. The organization is hoping to bring in $19 million by the fall.

William began the evening by meeting crew members, former patients and supporters of the charity.

Tom Cruise was a fellow guest at the event, and the pair posed together for photos in their tuxedos and black bow ties.

Sharing a photo of their reunion on social media, Prince William's team wrote, "Fancy seeing you here, @TomCruise !" complete with a helicopter emoji.

Prince William previously met the actor on several occasions, most recently at the London premiere of  Top Gun: Maverick in May 2022 alongside Princess Kate. Cruise, 61, also attended the funeral of William's mother, Princess Diana, in 1997.

Prince William is expected to use the occasion to speak for the first time about the cancer diagnosis of the King, 75. He is also expected to address Princess Kate’s surgery and her recuperation in a speech during the event. She is staying at the couple’s home Adelaide Cottage in Windsor and is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.

The rapid response of the London Air Ambulance service can bring the hospital emergency department to the scene of an incident anywhere in London. It has delivered life-saving treatment to more than 45,000 people since its foundation in 1989.

As a former air ambulance pilot in East Anglia, Prince William is passionate about supporting the emergency services in all their forms. He has been a patron of the charity for four years and took to the air in one of the organization’s helicopters to mark the 30th anniversary of the service.

Prince William's appearance came a day after King Charles met with his younger son,  Prince Harry , who had jetted in solo from California overnight Monday. King Charles and  Queen Camilla , 76, left London for their country home, Sandringham House, in Norfolk soon after he met with Harry, which lasted less than an hour.

The Prince of Wales did not meet with his brother, 39, before Prince Harry was spotted at the London airport on Wednesday.

Prince William isn’t expected to make any more public appearances for more than a week as he continues to focus on his wife’s health and helping care for the couple’s three children:  Prince George , 10,  Princess Charlotte , 8, and  Prince Louis , 5. Next week is the children’s half-term vacation from school.

A royal source tells PEOPLE exclusively in this week's issue that the Prince of Wales is in  regular contact  with his father amid the news of the King's cancer diagnosis. As King Charles steps back from public engagements and Princess Kate continues her  months-long recuperation , it’s up to Prince William (along with Queen Camilla) to be the face of the monarchy.

“It is hard with Kate being ill as well, but he will step up,” says a source close to the royal household.

Although Prince William  may undertake  some duties on behalf of his father, there are currently no plans to appoint  Counsellors of State  to act on King Charles’ behalf. In times of need, the British sovereign can call on these members of the royal family to help manage the monarchy by acting on their behalf through the Letters Patent in the event of temporary incapacity or absence from the U.K.

“He wouldn’t want to put that pressure on William,” says the source. “He has always wanted to save his children from having that pressure too early and that will remain. Particularly as William has other priorities [with Kate].”
