We Rode Disney’s NEW and Improved Star Tours Ride — Check It Out With Us!
A galaxy far, far away just got a little bit bigger!
Few attractions offer the kind of unique ride experience that Disneyland’s Star Tours — The Adventures Continue offers. First majorly updated in 2010, the ride was once again updated in 2015, 2017, and 2019 to include 700 different ride experiences. Now in 2024, the ride is once again getting another update!
Star Tours — The Adventures continue at Disneyland, Disney’s Hollywood Studios , and Disneyland Paris all received an update on April 5th, 2024 to reflect new Star Wars Disney+ media and we were invited to get a FIRSTHAND LOOK! Check it out!
The new adventures include characters and locations from Ahsoka, Andor, and The Mandalorian. We got to experience these new adventures and we were absolutely blown away!
The pre-show was the same as usual. Also, our first scene was pod-racing on Tatooine — a scene we have experienced before.
Then came the exciting part — new characters! Din Djarin and Grogu sent a transmission with The Mandalorian theme song playing. Grogu snatched a flying frog while Djarin was giving us important intel which made for a fun 3D moment.
Then we made it to a planet featured in Ahsoka. There, Ahsoka showed up to help us in battle with Purrgil (space whales). Beware — you may almost get eaten by one! We weren’t allowed to grab footage, but we love these new additions to the ride. We only saw the scenes from Ahsoka and The Mandalorian — we did not get Andor on our ride.
Accompanying the new Star Tours update at Disneyland is “Season of the Force” a Star Wars- themed event that will run from April 5th through June 2nd, 2024 . “Season of the Force” will include limited-time Star Wars- themed food and merchandise as well as Fire of the Rising Moons (a NEW way to view the Disneyland fireworks from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge), Hyperspace Mountain overlay for Space Mountain , Seek and Find at The Star Trader, and Disneyland After Dark: Star Wars Nite events.
We’ll keep you posted on any updates during this event as well as on all things Disneyland, so be sure to stay tuned here at AllEars for all the latest!

Batuu Explained: The Star Wars Planet Where Grand Admiral Thrawn & Anakin Skywalker First Met
12 star wars things we've all been way too harsh about, i'm really concerned about the state of the star wars fandom right now.
- Star Tours at Disney Parks will update with new adventures and characters from the Star Wars TV shows Ahsoka, Andor, and The Mandalorian on April 5.
- These adventures will feature urgent transmissions from Ahsoka, Cassian Andor, and Din Djarin and Grogu.
- The new additions create a total of 250 different storylines that visitors can experience, including a journey to the extragalactic planet Peridea in Ahsoka.
Star Tours – The Adventures Continue at Disney Parks is officially updating its Star Wars attraction with new adventures and characters that are bigger than ever before. Originally replacing its predecessor Star Tours , Star Tours – The Adventures Continue served as a prequel with adventures taking place between the prequel and original Star Wars trilogies. Since then, it's added adventures from the sequel trilogy, and now it's adding even more. Previously announced at Star Wars Celebration 2023, the details of this exciting update that bring the Star Wars movies and TV shows together have now been revealed.
The key planet in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, Batuu has become a vitally important Star Wars world with key links to Thrawn and Darth Vader.
Shared by Disney, the Star Tours – The Adventures Continue update will feature adventures with Ahsoka Tano of Ahsoka , Cassian Andor of Andor , and Din Djarin and Grogu of The Mandalorian . One moment from Ahsoka will see attraction visitors weaving their way through a hoard of purrgil space whales to evade enemy fire, and another will even take viewers to Peridea - an extragalactic planet that will take its riders to another galaxy far, far away. The update will debut at Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World Resort, and Disneyland Paris on April 5. Below are various stills shared by Disney and StarWars.com .
This massively expands the story of Star Wars - The Adventures Continue , as Disney shares that " guests will have the opportunity to experience one of more than 250 storyline variations aboard the attraction ," which includes the aforementioned visit to Peridea. The appearances of Ahsoka, Cassian, and Din and Grogu are then said to be " urgent transmissions ," all of which will play a part in the adventures. This marks the first update Disney has made to the attraction since Kef Bir's addition following Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in 2019 - and potentially the biggest.
Star Wars Is Heading To Another Galaxy Far, Far Away
This not only marks the first time content from the Disney+ Star Wars TV shows is being added to the age-old attraction, but it also marks the first time Star Tours – The Adventures Continue will be adventuring to a different galaxy with the inclusion of Peridea . As seen in Ahsoka , Peridea is where both Grand Admiral Thrawn and Ezra Bridger were stranded for years following the Star Wars Rebels ending. The Ahsoka season 1 ending now sees Ahsoka and Sabine Wren trapped there instead, and it seems guests of Star Tours – The Adventures Continue may share the same experience.
To boldly emphasize a journey outside the familiar Star Wars galaxy proves how big the franchise is ready to go in the future, particularly with upcoming Star Wars movies.
This, however, is a major step forward for the franchise. To boldly emphasize a journey outside the familiar Star Wars galaxy proves how big the franchise is ready to go in the future, particularly with upcoming Star Wars movies such as The Mandalorian & Grogu movie and Dave Filoni's untitled project. Star Wars is thus preparing for not only its biggest update to the attraction yet, but also what may be perhaps its biggest step forward in the Star Wars galaxy as a whole, whether these adventures will be considered canon or not.

The unmissable addition to Disneyland’s Star Tours ride? Space whales
- Copy Link URL Copied!
Disneyland’s Star Tours: The Adventures Continue has proved to be one of the theme park’s most versatile attractions.
Though perhaps no longer the groundbreaking technological marvel that it was when it debuted in 1987, the flight simulator ride has shifted with the franchise, withstanding cultural trends and aligning with whichever version of “Star Wars” is popular at the moment — or in need of a marketing boost.
The latest update to Star Tours brings the ride into the Disney+ era, with nods to series such as “The Mandalorian,” “Ahsoka” and “Andor.” More noteworthy, at least for Disneyland guests, is that the centerpiece of the latest upgrades is a scene that provides a slight tonal shift for the attraction, one focused, albeit briefly, on slowing down and giving so-called starspeeder riders a look at one of “Star Wars’” more majestic creatures. Star Tours will now rocket guests straight to a moment that boasts a close-up with the purrgil, essentially large, mysterious space whales that move with a galactic grace.

Want to see Disneyland’s most advanced animatronics? Visit Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
With new droids at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and some of the most lifelike characters ever created at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Disney is looking to wow guests.
April 4, 2024
For the 3-D attraction, it’s a moment that provides a breather. The motion simulator lingers for a few seconds, and our makeshift animatronic captain, the golden droid C-3PO, turns to face riders. C-3PO shifts into tour guide mode, appearing in awe of the purrgil and commenting on how serene the animals are.
“This will be different from other sequences, to have a moment,” said Tom Fitzgerald, a senior creative executive with Walt Disney Imagineering, the company’s secretive arm devoted to theme park attractions, when asked about taking a patient approach to the scene. “You don’t get many moments. It’s so compact. But it’s a moment to let people look at the beauty of this, and the 3-D gives you the scale of those creatures.”
The additions to Star Tours are arguably the centerpiece of Disneyland’s all-things- “Star Wars” promotion Season of the Force , which debuted this past weekend and runs through June 2. The “Star Wars” festival also sees new droids making their way to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge through the duration of the event, as well as the return of Space Mountain overlay Hyperspace Mountain and a new free scavenger hunt that aims to get players to pay close attention to the minute details of Galaxy’s Edge.
Fitzgerald has been with Star Tours since the ride’s beginning, and oversaw the latest Star Tours additions, which further deviate the attraction from any strict “Star Wars” timeline and instead focus it on being a sort of “greatest hits” for the brand. The purrgil scene also features Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka Tano and the character’s svelte, fast-rotating starship above the planet of Seatos. Tano’s ship inspired Imagineers to see if they could add some new tricks to the attraction, mainly in the way the simulator can move. When Tano’s vessel twists and spins, for instance, the starspeeder attempts to mimic it, endeavoring to create the feeling of a 360-barrel roll. At other times, the starspeeder glides among the purrgil.
Key to Star Tours’ longevity, and what makes it the rare motion simulator that doesn’t feel rooted in the 1980s, is its ability to create new sensations via its movements. The ride now has more than 250 storyline variations, and when adding to the attraction, Imagineers are looking for ways to heighten the contrast among its various scenes, both tonally and in its maneuvers. Though Star Tours is typically randomized — for the foreseeable future, and definitely throughout Disneyland’s spring Season of the Force promotion — all riders are guaranteed to visit the new location and receive an early-flight transmission from one of the recently added characters.
“How do we make each of the places we go have a different color palette?” says Fitzgerald, who then recalls different “Star Wars” planets that can be featured in the attraction’s random programming. “Mustafar is all lava. Kashyyyk is all green jungle. So they feel very different when you get the combos. And then motion-based. Could we do a barrel roll? That’s the fun of doing it, and programming it and trying it. And we needed something else. What have we not done? So with the purrgils, what if we do skiing through the tentacles? We had never done that. So those are the two big motion changes.”
The attraction is also livened up by appearances from Dawson’s Tano, Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor and a masked Din Djarin from “The Mandalorian.” While the latter is played and portrayed by Pedro Pascal on the Disney+ series, many have noted that the Djarin on “Star Tours” features a slightly different vocal cadence than Pascal, and an Imagineering spokesperson says the company is not revealing its voice actors for the attraction. Nevertheless, “The Mandalorian” moment features some comic relief — and clever 3-D usage — courtesy of Grogu, colloquially refered to as “baby Yoda,” and his penchant to use Force powers to toy with and eat frogs.

Here are 5 takeaways from the Themed Entertainment Assn.’s annual gathering in Hollywood.

The three appear as transmissions that help define the suddenly urgent narrative of Star Tours. “Each one is different,” Fitzgerald says. “Mando and Grogu we played for comedy. And Andor is mysterious. You don’t see his face. You see this thing coming toward you. Is that a friend or foe? And then he pulls his hood and the music changes.” Tano, meanwhile, arrives like an old friend who knows C-3PO and fellow droid R2-D2. Riders are advised to pay close attention to the opening cinematic in a ship’s hangar, as there is a new randomized opening that features Tano in a lightsaber battle with Stormtroopers.
As for why the new additions perhaps lean a bit more heavily on “Ahsoka,” as it is that series that features the planet of Seatos and the purrgil, Fitzgerald had a simple answer: Yes, it’s the space whales.
With access to early scripts from Lucasfilm, Fitzgerald says he singled out the purrgil scenes. “Reading about that, not knowing what they looked like initially, I was going, that’s going to be really cool.” And, at least for a few seconds, relatively calming.

Disney Announces 2024 Ahsoka Star Tours Expansion Release Timeline
A new disney announcement revealed when star wars can expect the ahsoka addition to star tours..
Ahsoka Tano is coming to Star Tours in 2024, and Disney just shared specific details about when that will happen.
Disney first announced "all new adventures" for Star Tours during Star Wars Celebration 2023, followed by an additional reveal at Destination D23 that Ahsoka is one of the "stories and characters" being added to the original Star Wars attraction.
With 2024 just around the corner, Disney has new information about the timing of Star Tours' upcoming expansion.
Disney Shares Release Window for Ahsoka Star Tours Update
Disneyland's 2024 event calendar revealed that Star Tours' Ahsoka expansion will debut during the park's "Season of the Force" event which begins April 5 and ends June 2.
Disneyland also described the coming addition as "new adventures," meaning Ahsoka Tano and destinations from the Ahsoka Disney+ series probably won't be the only new faces and places being added to the classic ride.
While Disney has only confirmed a window for the release and not a confirmed date, if it doesn't open with "Season of the Force" on April 5, May the 4th/Star Wars Day is likely what the House of Mouse has in mind.
Still, Disneyland's Star Tours isn't the only version of the ride receiving this addition.
Walt Disney World and Disneyland Paris' Star Tours rides are also confirmed to receive the update. However, Disney has yet to reveal whether the April 5 to June 2 release window applies to those parks as well.
As for Disneyland's "Season of the Force" event, the park has also promised the return of Hyperspace Mountain, a fan-favorite overlay of Space Mountain, as well as Star Wars-themed food and merchandise.
Also new for 2024 is a described "fresh perspective on the fireworks" from Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge , complete with "galactic music."
Fans can expect to encounter Lady Tano in Galaxy's Edge during "Season of the Force," especially since she's been frequenting the land following her park debut back in August.
Is Star Tours Getting a MandoVerse Overlay?
The addition of Ahsoka Tano in Star Tours is huge from a parks perspective since it's the first time Disney+ characters have been featured in a Star Wars Disney ride.
The question now is who else from the MandoVerse will be joining her?
Many have speculated that Mando and particularly Grogu are likely to be part of the addition's roster, but Rosario Dawson's Ahsoka co-stars , Chopper, and even Luke Skywalker are contenders as well.
There's also the question of whether every new Star Tours spin will feature these new locations and characters, or continue to offer randomized original, prequel, and sequel trilogy scenes as well.
Fans should expect to hear more about the Star Tours' expansion and Ahsoka's role in the months to come.

NEWS: Changes Coming to Star Tours – New Details Revealed
Last year, Disney announced that Star Tours – The Adventures Continue would receive an update with new adventures added to the attraction. We now know when the attraction will be updated. Learn more below.
Here are all the details from Disney Cast Member Scott Trowbridge:
Over the years, we’ve been working hard to keep our Star Wars experiences in Disney Parks evolving alongside that expanding galaxy far, far away. That is also part of what makes Star Tours – The Adventures Continue so special. So now, I am excited to share that, starting April 5, 2024 , at Walt Disney World Resort , Disneyland Resort and Disneyland Paris , Star Tours – The Adventures Continue will be taking you on some all-new adventures. These new additions will feature characters and locations from some of your favorite Disney+ new series – “Ahsoka,” “Andor,” and “The Mandalorian.”
With these additions, you’ll now have an opportunity to experience one of more than 250 storyline variations aboard the attraction , including a visit to the planet Peridea from the Ahsoka series.
Urgent transmissions from Ahsoka Tano, Cassian Andor , Din Djarin and Grogu may soon be part of your next Starspeeder flight. These iconic characters will continue to add to the galaxy of stories aboard Disney’s first Star Wars attraction.
Also starting April 5, Season of the Force will arrive at Disneyland park for a limited time through June 2, 2024, with Hyperspace Mountain, themed food and beverage, merchandise and more. Debuting during the celebration, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will provide a fresh perspective on the fireworks above Disneyland park on select nights, with galactic music sweeping through the spires.
RELATED ARTICLE: 9 Facts and Secrets about Star Tours – The Adventures Continue at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
With all the hype and regenerated love for Star Wars going on, you may have many questions or piqued interest about Disney’s Star Wars attraction, Star Tours – The Adventures Continue. During the attraction, you are taking a flight on Star Tours, but your flight quickly changes plans when you learn that a “rebel spy” is on board that the rebellion must protect. You end up on wild chase scenes through various lands and battles within the Star Wars universe. It is so much fun and an excellent experience for anyone, even if you aren’t a die-hard Star Wars fan. Here are nine facts and secrets about the attraction that you may not know:
9 – The attraction first opened in 1989.
Star Tours debuted at Disney-MGM Studios in December 1989. Disney-MGM Studios opened in May of 1989, so the attraction was added several months after the park opened to add to the lineup of attractions for the park.
8 – You will likely get a different experience each time that you ride.
The way the ride is sequenced, you will get a different combination of three scenes to make up the entire attraction. Based on the number of scenes that are available, there are 54 unique ride sequence combinations that you can get. This includes a scene from Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker, too! Yes, I just gave you a great excuse to ride the attraction repeatedly so that you can make sure you get to experience each version. I’d be lying if I said that my husband and son aren’t trying!
7 – The ride was renamed Star Tours – The Adventure Continues.
The ride closed down in 2010 for a big refurbishment. When it re-opened in 2011, it was then known at Star Tours – The Adventures Continue instead of just Star Tours as it was before. For the re-opening, Bog Iger and George Lucas were actually there for the event and rode the attraction. The changes added even more scenes.
6 – Listen to the announcements while in the queue.
Pay special attention to the announcements while you are waiting in the queue. You will hear a Mister Egroeg Sacul being paged over the intercom. This is actually a nod and tribute to George Lucas since Egroeg Sacul is actually George Lucas spelled backward. How fun is that?
5 – Pee Wee Herman was in the attraction.
I was really shocked to learn about this one. This is one fact that I never knew. He was actually the voice of Captain RX-24 (Rex). He was the pilot talking as R2-D2 was being loaded. I never remembered noticing Paul Reubens’ (Pee Wee Herman’s) voice during the attraction, but it is really cool that he was another celebrity that was part of the attraction.
4 – Gotta love classic C3PO.
The actor who voiced this beloved favorite droid is Anthony Daniels. He also happens to be the only Star Wars actor appearing in every theatrical chapter of Star Wars. Not only that, but he joined the team in Star Tours to voice C3PO’s role for his dialogue in the attraction. We are so glad he did since nothing could compare to the original!
3 – Carrie Fisher collaborated on Princess Leia’s dialogue.
If you have ridden the attraction, you might have seen scenes where archival footage of Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) from Star Wars movies was used in the attraction. The dialogue, however, is actually re-recorded. Carrie Fisher collaborated with the Imagineers to re-record her dialogue so that it fit the attraction. It makes the story of the attraction seamless but with the familiarity of the movies that we love so much.
2 – It is one of the longer-ride attractions at Walt Disney World Resort.
Many of the rides at Walt Disney World range from 1 to 3 minutes at the most. This attraction is a 4-minute and 30-second ride, giving you a great taste of a few of the worlds and scenes within the Star Wars universe and the classic sagas.
1 – Another great nod to George Lucas and the Star Wars series.
We all go crazy for the nods and little details that are incorporated into our favorite attractions. There is actually another nod to George Lucas that is really cool. Pay attention just before boarding the spaceship. If you are listening, you may hear a reference to THX1138. Why is this signification? It just so happens that THX1138 was in all of the Star Wars movies. It was the name of George Lucas’ first movie, so he included it in all of the Star Wars films as a nod to his origin.

The motion-simulator attraction, fronted by a giant AT-AT figure, debuted at Walt Disney World in 1989. It was the company’s first “Star Wars” ride. It was upgraded in 2011 to include “The Adventures Continue” theming, and it continues to present an experience that differs from ride to ride, splicing together various storylines based on an assortment of “Star Wars” planets and environments.
“Urgent transmissions from Ahsoka Tano, Cassian Andor, Din Djarin and Grogu may soon be part of your next Starspeeder flight,” Scott Trowbridge, portfolio creative executive with Walt Disney Imagineering, wrote on the official Disney Parks Blog on Tuesday morning. Disney says there will be more than 250 variations after the additions.
Trowbridge announced the changes during the Star Wars Celebration in Paris in 2023, although specifics were not shared. The updates will be unveiled at the Star Tours attractions in California’s Disneyland and Disneyland Paris on April 5 as well.
Darth Vader, Boba Fett, Yoda, Princess Leia and Chewbacca were earlier additions, as were the planets of Hoth, Endor, Alderaan, Tatooine and Kashyyyk. Locations tied to the films “The Force Awakens” and “The Rise of Skywalker” previously were incorporated, as well as scenes from Batuu, the base planet of the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge area in Hollywood Studios.

New Ahsoka, Mandalorian, and Andor Scenes Now Available on Star Tours in Disney World and Disneyland
by Morgan Flaherty | Apr 5, 2024 | Disneyland Parks , Walt Disney World
New Star Tours scenes featuring Ashoka Tano, Din Djarin, Cassian Andor, and Grogu are now available for riders in the Disney Parks.
Last year, during the annual Star Wars Celebration, fans were treated to several exciting pieces of news, including the reveal that new destinations will be arriving at the beloved Star Tours in Disney World, Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris. Now, those new destinations are available at each!
New Star Tours Scenes Now Available
New scenes have been added in Disney World, Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris. Since the attraction first debuted in Disneyland in 1987 , Star Tours has added new locations as the galaxy and the story of the Star Wars universe has expanded on film. Now, new Star Tours scenes are available featuring some of the newer Star Wars properties, with characters like Ashoka Tano, Din Djarin, Cassian Andor, and Grogu.
We were able to experience these new scenes as part of a media event at both Disney World and Disneyland, though the new destinations are available at Disneyland Paris as well. The New Star Tours Update: Everything You Need, and Want, to Know
Before Disney bought Star Wars, the two brands began their courtship with a ride . Star Tours opened in 1987 and has seen many new upgrades and additions over the years . This week, for its Season of the Force event , Disney gave the ride another refresh. And this time, for the first time, it’s with characters from Disney+.
So, starting today, if you are at Disneyland, Walt Disney World, or Disneyland Paris, Star Tours now features characters from Ahsoka, Andor and The Mandalorian. But what’s new? How does it work? io9 was among a group of journalists Disney invited to an early preview of the new Star Tours at Disneyland in Anaheim, so we’ll explain.
How many new Star Tours locations are there?
Though you may have assumed otherwise, only one new, full planet has been added to Star Tours this time around: Seatos from Ahsoka. However, there are three different variations going into that. One featuring Ahsoka (with Rosario Dawson reprising the role), one featuring Cassian Andor (with Diego Luna reprising), and one featuring both the Mandalorian and Grogu.
What can happen on the new Star Tours?
So, you get on the ride and start to pull out of the spaceport. Here’s where, potentially, your first new change will be. In the past, riders would usually see the Millennium Falcon sitting there as the ship was stopped by Darth Vader, Kylo Ren, or a Probe Droid. And while that’s still more likely to happen than not, if you happen to see a new ship there, you know exactly where this particular ride will take you.
Yes, in some Star Tours rides not only is Ahsoka Tano’s T-6 Jedi Shuttle in the first scene, you can see Ahsoka herself there in the frame. She’s talking to Stormtroopers and, when they discover the Rebel spy, Ahsoka turns on her lightsabers and battles off the troopers before jumping in the ship.
If you see that, you can impress your friends and tell them what’s going to happen next. After you visit one of many, many planets that were previously on the ride (I did it twice on Friday and both times it was podracing on Tatooine from Episode I), you’ll then get one of the three new transmissions. However, if you got Ahsoka’s ship at the start, you are guaranteed to get Ahsoka in this moment. She’ll say “Hi” to C-3PO, and be excited to see her friend R2-D2 again, before asking to deliver a very important person—the Rebel spy. As she’s talking, we see Chopper and Huyang in the background, getting into shenanigans.
What are the two other transmissions?
These transmissions is the part of this new Star Tours that will be the most random. If you don’t get Ahsoka, maybe you’ll get the Mandalorian and Grogu. As Mando (who does not sound like it’s Pedro Pascal but we’ve asked Disney for confirmation) talks about a dangerous mission and fight, Grogu is eating one of his frogs. He then spits it out and it floats toward your face in 3D. It’s very cute and funny and just as the one-eyed creature gets close enough to almost touch it, Grogu sucks him back in. “This is the way,” Mando says, and you’re off to the final part of your mission.
Note: unfortunately, we didn’t get to see Cassian’s transmission but, from what we were told, it’s very different tonally than the other two, on purpose. While Ahsoka’s is friendly and Mando’s is funny, Cassian’s is mysterious. He comes out in a hood, lurking in a shadow, then reveals himself to the audience and asks for help with the spy. The key was that each one feels completely unique.
What happens on Seatos?
No matter what transmission you get though, everything is the same after that. Star Tours is off to Seatos, the planet from the final episodes of Ahsoka where they showdown with Thrawn. You arrive in some kind of shadow, only to emerge from the clouds flying among the majestic Purrgil (aka Space Whales). Ahsoka hails you on the side monitor and asks for help with the two ships attacking her, which R2 is more than happy to do. You fly up and around the Purrgil, along their backs, weaving in and out of its fins, and at one point almost even getting sucked in and eaten. Finally, there’s a perfect moment, which R2 uses to land the perfect shot and save the day. Ashoka thanks you, has a special goodbye for her old pal R2, and it’s back home.
Are the new additions to Star Tours good?
Yes and no. Yes, because anytime you can get to sit down and experience a new piece of Star Wars, especially on a ride that’s been around for almost 40 years, that’s a good thing. However, do I think Seatos as a planet is one of the better destinations in the ride? No. In fact, it may be one of my least favorites. It’s drastically lacking in drama compared to, say, Geonosis, Coruscant, or Naboo. But Ahsoka is great and it’s fun to follow a different ship around.
Oh, and the new transmissions (at least the ones we saw) were phenomenal. Much more detailed and eventful than the previous ones.
How long is the new ride happening?
“For a limited time” everyone who boards Star Tours will get the new planet of Seatos every time, as well as one of the new transmissions. Whether or not that’s just through the Season of the Force event or longer is unclear, and Disney wouldn’t commit to specifics. It might be a park to park decision. But, for at least a few weeks or months, if you go on Star Tours, you’ll get the new stuff.
Then, eventually, the three new transmissions and one new planet will be slotted into the ride’s randomizer. When that happens, it takes the number of possible combinations up to over 250.
Why Seatos over anything else?
In the last few years, thanks to Disney+, Star Wars has seen more new planets, characters, and creatures than ever. So why Seatos and the Purrgil? Well, Tom Fitzgerald, one of Star Tours’ original Imagineers—who also worked on this one —said it was all about picking a planet that was different from all the others. Something unique. Maybe that’s colors or maybe, in this case, it’s a unique creature. So by choosing Seatos, not only do you get to see these massive, new, unique creatures, but those creatures allow the ride to do moves it’s never done before. That’s how we get the first barrel roll ever in Star Tours as well as a sequence he refers to as the “slalom ski run.”
How long did the new upgrade take?
Fitzgerald said he and his team first started working on these new additions sometime between 18 months and two years ago.
Could another ride get this treatment?
Since Disney bought Lucasfilm in 2012, Star Tours has been updated about every two or three years. This update is the first since 2019 though—so it makes you wonder, what’s next? And, will it even be Star Tours?
When Galaxy’s Edge opened in 2019, Disney said that the Millennium Falcon ride, Smugglers Run, was designed in a similar fashion to Star Tours and that the actual visuals in the ride could be changed to take guests on new adventures. But now, that ride has been the same for five years. Could a change be coming? Unfortunately, no one from Imagineering or Lucasfilm would comment, confirm, or deny—but, fingers crossed.
The Ahsoka, Andor and Mandalorian additions to Star Tours: The Adventures Continue are now running at Disneyland, Hollywood Studios, and Disneyland Paris as part of the Season of the Force event. For more on that, check out this link.

Disney’s Star Tours – What Should I Be Afraid Of?
Star Tours – The Adventures Continue at Walt Disney World and Disneyland may rank really high in Disney ride reviews , but how scary might it be – and what exactly might you be afraid of?
Star Tours – The Adventures Continue is the oldest of the 3 Star Wars rides at Disney World and Disneyland. Designed as a 3-D flight simulator ride, Star Tours gives you the opportunity to climb aboard a Starspeeder and go on a tour of the galaxy. The thing is, your adventure goes awry as you make your way through several worlds!
Many guests consider Star Tours a classic attraction at both Disneyland and Disney World . I personally view it as a must-do ride at least once when visiting on vacation. In fact, its re-rideability factor is incredibly high because of its virtually limitless different ride sequences.
But what exactly might make it a scary ride? We've ridden Star Tours countless times and understand the ins and outs of it like the back of our hands.
This is why we at MickeyVisit put together this comprehensive ride review of Star Tours – The Adventures Continue so you have a clear idea of what to expect when riding it.

Disney Ride Review
In an effort to clearly define just how scary a ride is, we developed an ultra-scientific backed-by-research rating system. We call it the Mickey Visit Ride Rating System – MVRRS for short (pretty clever, huh?) The MVRRS goes as follows:
- Wimp Proof: Not scary at all
- Wimp Proof- ish : Seems scary at first, but after, you feel it's nothing to worry about
- Scary but Survivable: Moderately scary
- Scary : Definitely scary, but you'll be able to sleep at night
- Bravest Riders Only: The scariest ride you'll find in a theme park
Star Tours Ride Overview
There are 2 versions of Star Tours: 1 in Disney's Hollywood Studios and 1 in Disneyland Park.
Star Tours takes you to a number of different planets from the Star Wars universe. The catch is, you never know exactly which planets you visit until you ride. That's because the Disney Imagineers designed the ride scenes to be randomized. This means that not only will you visit a different planet each time you ride, but the order in which you visit them will change too!
You might be familiar with Soarin’ Around the World at EPCOT or Disney’s California Adventure. You might also be familiar with Avatar Flight of Passage at Disney's Animal Kingdom. All of these rides are flight simulator-based rides. Star Tours is similar, but instead of having the experience of flying on a glider or riding on a banshee, your entire flight experience is in a spaceship themed to the Star Wars universe.
Here’s some important information to review before riding Star Tours:
- Access: Lightning Lane Multi Pass , Rider Switch
- Height Requirements: Guests must be at least 40″ (102)
- Highest Speed: Not Applicable (movement is felt through the 3D screen and flight simulator)
- Length: 7 minutes
- Other Features: 3D Screen

Star Tours Ride Queue: What You Need to Know
At both Disney parks, both the standby queue and Lightning Lane queue for Star Tours start right at the ride’s signage.
The merge point for both queues happens right before being directed toward the boarding area. Although their entrances and merge points are the same, the queues at both Disneyland Park and Disney's Hollywood Studios are slightly different.
At Disney's Hollywood Studios , there is an outdoor section to the ride queue in case wait times skyrocket (luckily, they rarely do). This outdoor queue was made to look like an Ewok village, complete with green shrubs, towering trees, and shade from the Florida sun. What makes this queue so popular is the towering AT-AT that you get to walk under before entering the show building.
At Disneyland Park , the outdoor queue is a snaking line formed by stanchions along the wall of the show building. Nothing more, nothing less. However, once you enter the show buildings for both rides, their queues are almost identical.
The first section of the queue gives the feeling that you're walking through an airport terminal, with security scans, luggage screenings, and flight status information and planetary weather forecasts on a large screen. You'll even see a full-sized Starspeeder in the queue, along with a life-sized C-3PO and R2D2 working on the ship.
The second section of the queue is a cargo area where bags are being loaded onto Starspeeder ships. You'll also see a bunch of different droids getting ready for departure, along with Captain Rex making comments about the guests about to board their flight.
You'll then retrieve your 3-D “flight glasses” before being directed by a Cast Member to your specific boarding area.
Lastly, it's important to note that there are 2 chicken exits available should you choose to skip the ride. The first is at the boarding area, where you can ask a Cast Member to walk straight to the exit. The second isn't the most convenient: if you decide to sit this ride out while in the queue, you can simply turn around and walk back out the way you entered.
Star Tours Ride Vehicle Information
While they are all flight simulator attractions, the ride vehicle for Star Tours is very different from that of Flight of Passage and Soarin’ Around the World – let’s review why.
Your Starspeeder is set up like a small theater with 5 rows. Each row has 8 seats with a fabric lap belt, a shared armrest, and a net bag below to hold your belongings. After your ride pre-show, a Cast Member will direct you to your designated seating area.
Combining high-definition video, a Dolby 3D high-definition screen, and an advanced motion simulator, the Star Tours ride vehicle makes you feel like you're on a high-speed flight through space. The ride vehicle uses a hydraulic motion base cabin, very similar to flight simulators that were used by the military. It tilts considerably within 3 different planes, making your ride feel as real as possible.
Star Tours: Ride Experience
Just before boarding, you'll watch the overhead screens that serves 2 purposes.
First, you'll watch how C-3PO gets trapped in the Starspeeder cockpit while doing maintenance, making him the defacto pilot of your flight. Second, another droid will tell you your boarding and safety instructions before climbing into your ship. After you fasten your seat belt and put on your 3-D glasses, C-3PO introduces himself as the ship's captain. Your ride then begins, taking you on a virtually endless combination of scenarios.
First, just as you start to take off on what's supposed to be a relaxing trip, your speeder is stopped by one of the following villains looking for a Rebel Spy (someone who happens to be a randomly selected guest!):
- Darth Vader and his Stormtroopers
- A probe droid
- Kylo Ren and his First Order Storm Troopers
After narrowly escaping one of these villains, your Starspeeder then travels at light speed to 1 of the following planets:
After jumping into the action that's taking place at one of these planets, you'll jump back out into space and encounter one of several possible Star Wars heroes who all direct you to take your Rebel Spy safely to a rendezvous point. You'll then travel to one of the following planets:
Because this ride is a 3-D flight simulator, it does a fantastic job making you feel like you're on a high-speed flight through space, navigating planets and dodging enemies. Let's review the aspects of the ride that that make Star Tours thrilling and add to its MVRRS rating:
- Flight Simulator: The 3-D flight simulator ride vehicle is highly turbulent and includes sharp turns and sudden bumps. If you're sensitive to motion sickness, you may want to skip this ride
- 3-D Glasses: The use of 3-D glasses to give more life to your ride experience may also not be for those with sensitivities to motion sickness
- Action Story Elements: The variety of possible destinations on this ride include action scenes such as battles against The First Order, dodging pod racers, and jumping to hyperspace. If you or your kiddos do not like startling scenes or action scenes, you may want to skip this ride
- Length: At about 7 minutes, Star Tours is a little shorter than Haunted Mansion, slightly longer than Under the Sea Journey of the Little Mermaid, and more than double the length of WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure
Every single effect adds up to a very fun ride.
Favorite Moment of Star Tours
Here's why you need to ride Star Tours.
When it first opened, Star Tours set the tone for themed the simulation rides and attractions Disney built after it. Not only is each ride unique because of its randomized sequence of planetary destinations. Every time I buckle myself into the ride vehicle to blast off to light speed, I truly feel like I'm traveling out of this would.
The thing is, this isn't my favorite part of the ride.
My favorite part of Star Tours doesn't even involve me. It involves the guests around me. Without fail, every time I ride Star Tours, there is always one guest or a group of guests that get so much excitement out of riding Star Tours. Sometimes it's their laughter as we hit light speed. Or it's their yelling as we almost crash into another ship. Other times, it's their awe as they come face to face with a Star Wars hero.
There is always somebody riding with me that gets an absolute kick out of Star Tours – and I love it.
Star Tours: Scary Verdict
So, how does our ride review of Star Tours stack up against our MVRRS?
MVRRS VERDICT : Wimp Proof- ish : Seems scary at first, but after, you feel it's nothing to worry about
Star Tours – The Adventures Continue has a re-rideability factor that's through the roof. Its randomized destination sequences make it worth coming back again and again to witness even a slightly different experience. Just the thought of encountering another awesome Star Wars character makes me want to ride it again.
We must address, however, the elephant in the room: the flight simulator.
The flight simulator ride vehicle on Star Tours does a fantastic job at making you feel like you're traveling at light speed to your next planetary destination. However, because of its close-to-reality flight experience, guests with sensitivities to motion sickness may not be suitable to ride. Additionally, many of the action scenes may scare some of the kiddos in your party.
However, I must admit that from my experience of riding Star Wars countless times, I have yet to witness anyone walking out of the ride completely scared or about to put their heads into the nearest trash can. So while the ride in theory may steer certain guests away, in practice I have yet to see any adverse reactions to it.
In the end, I highly recommend riding Star Tours every single time I visit Disneyland Park or Disney's Hollywood Studios.

NEWS... BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca provides Reece James, Malo Gusto and Romeo Lavia injury update ahead of Bournemouth clash
Share this with
Enzo Maresca has confirmed that Reece James and Malo Gusto will play no part in Chelsea ’s trip to Bournemouth due to injury, but Romeo Lavia could be involved in the Premier League clash.
It has been a difficult start to the campaign at Stamford Bridge, with Maresca opening his reign as Chelsea manager with just one win from three in the English top flight.
Bournemouth sit eighth, one point and three places above Chelsea in the table after three matches, and Andoni Iraola’s men will be determined to consign their visitors to yet more disappointment on Saturday afternoon.
Maresca has faced a number of injury concerns after taking over the reins in west London in the summer and has been without club captain James, who remains sidelined with a thigh problem.
Gusto filled in for James at right-back for much of last season and has started all three of the club’s opening games this term against Manchester City, Wolves and Crystal Palace.
But the Frenchman sustained a thigh injury in the second half of Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Palace and had to withdraw from France’s Under-21 squad during the international break .
‘Malo is still out, he is not available for tomorrow’s game,’ Maresca told reporters when asked for an update on Gusto’s injury at his pre-match press conference this afternoon.
It has been another frustrating start to the season for Romeo Lavia, with the Belgian missing Chelsea’s last two league matches versus Wolves and Palace with a hamstring injury.
But the defensive midfielder stepped up his recovery during the international break and could be set to feature at the Vitality Stadium this weekend.
‘Romeo Lavia is very close, hopefully he is back for the next game,’ Maresca added.
‘Unfortunately, Reece James needs more time.’
Maresca will find the ‘right moment’ to give Jadon Sancho his Chelsea debut following the winger’s move from Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
‘I decide the first XI, it depends on the training session,’ the Italian explained.
‘Jadon is one of our wingers. I am seeing him exactly the way I was expecting him.
‘Now it’s a matter to find the right moment for him, to give him a chance.’
According to Maresca, Chelsea will need to be near-perfect from both a technical and physical perspective to compete with the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool over the coming seasons.
‘Today, if you want to compete, you need to find the right balance between the technical side and the physical side,’ he continued.
‘City, Arsenal and Liverpool have those players that are physically strong but we have that too.’

The historic tour, initially planned for 2020 but postponed by the Covid-19 pandemic, has included 43 hours of flight time and a distance of 32,000km (almost 20,000 miles).
Occasionally, the pope has appeared to struggle to keep his eyes open when listening to late-night liturgical readings or to remain engaged during formal military parades.
But neither the pace -- 16 speeches and up to eight hours of time difference -- nor the heat, nor multiple meetings have forced any rescheduling of his international odyssey.
On a trip that took him to the outer edges of the Church's world, the pope delivered a sometimes uncomfortable message for leaders not to forget the poor and marginalised.
In Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim-majority state, he visited the capital Istiqlal Mosque to deliver a joint message against conflict and climate change.
In sweltering Papua New Guinea, he donned a Bird of Paradise headdress in a remote, jungle village where he told inhabitants to halt violence and renounce "superstition and magic".
Addressing political and business leaders, he insisted that the country's vast natural resources should benefit the "entire community" -- a demand likely to resound in a nation where many believe their riches are being stolen or squandered.
And in staunchly Roman Catholic Timor-Leste he addressed nearly half the population, drawing about 600,000 rapturous believers in the tropical heat to a celebration of mass on the island's coast.
Francis addressed Timor-Leste's leaders, hailing a new era of "peace" since independence in 2002.
But he also called on them to do more to prevent abuse against young people, in a nod to recent Catholic Church child abuse scandals.
In the affluent city-state of Singapore, the pope called for "special attention" to be paid to protecting the dignity of migrant workers.
"These workers contribute a great deal to society and should be guaranteed a fair wage," he said.
There are an estimated 170 million migrant workers around the world. Most live in the Americas or Europe-Central Asia.
But the Argentine pope was otherwise full of praise for the "entrepreneurial spirit" and dynamism that built a "mass of ultra-modern skyscrapers that seem to rise from the sea" in his final destination.
Sandra Ross, 55, a church administrator in Singapore, said she still "feeling the warmth and joy" after attending mass led by the pope.
"I was deeply touched by Pope Francis' courage and dedication to his mission, despite his health challenges. His spirit and enthusiasm are truly inspiring," she said.
"This Asia tour is a beautiful gesture, highlighting the importance of unity and understanding across cultures and faiths." - AFP
