Tips for booking a music cruise

Most music cruises book up shortly after revealing the next year's sailing dates. If you hope to score the best cabin to combat seasickness , sign up well in advance. Some companies offer priority reservations to cruising alums. If you miss a year between sailings, you'll still have priority but will be considered lower status than those who sailed on the prior cruise. That means you're second string when it comes to picking a stateroom.

Didn't make the cut on the cruise you were hoping for? Don't worry. Many cruises have a waitlist you can join to receive a notification if a room becomes available. Other cruises, like those run by Sixthman, have a First Available Program that allows you to check their website weekly (usually on a Friday) to see if a room becomes available. You may just need a bit of patience and persistence.

Headbangers Boat Cruise

To be included on this list, each cruise must be centered around music, obviously. And when we say "music," we're not talking about a small acapella group singing in the atrium or a pianist accompanying the dinner rush. We're looking at big-scale, well-organized, fabulous shows featuring acts so good you may get goosebumps. Whether they sing like angels or play a mean guitar, the musicians on these cruises will make your journey one you'll likely wish to repeat.

We consulted a ton of online reviews to ensure the cruises we mention on this list will live up to the hype. In addition to boasting talented performers, we searched for ships that were loaded with fun amenities, good concert venues, great food, and interesting ports of call. There's little worse than being stuck on a boat with nowhere to go, nothing to do, and nothing decent to munch on. That's why we made sure to do a deep dive, researching each cruise company to ensure they would fit the proverbial bill.

We also contacted music cruise organizers like Sixthman and StarVista LIVE to enquire about future dates. They told us that next year's cruise dates are announced during the current cruise, so there are no definitive dates until that time. They did, however, mention that the following year's cruises should take place around the same time.

To say that  Charlie Wilson  is an “Icon,” does not truly describe the musical powerhouse whose vocal prowess began as founding member and lead singer of the legendary GAP Band (“ You Dropped the Bomb on Me ,” “ Outstanding ,” “ Party Train ,” and “ Burn Rubber on Me ”), 

As a solo artist, Wilson, has topped the charts with 10 number one singles, 13 Grammy nominations, a New York Times and Washington Post best-selling memoir, “I Am Charlie Wilson” and a BET Lifetime Achievement Award.

Wilson’s  latest album,  In It To Win It , includes the single “ Chills ” which achieved #1 status on the Billboard Adult R&B Songs chart and the single “ I’m Blessed ” ft. T.I. garnering a #1 spot on the Billboard Hot Gospel Songs chart and was nominated for a 2018 Billboard Award for Top Gospel song. This marked the first time an artist has had two different #1 songs on these charts simultaneously.

“ Uncle Charlie ,” the lovable nickname given by  Snoop Dogg , continues to be one of the most sought-after voices in music today.  He has collaborated with many chart-topping artists including  Justin Timberlake, Pharrell Williams, Kanye West, T.I., Pitbull, Wiz Khalifa, Tyler the Creator  and  Chance the Rapper .

Wilson  had critically acclaimed, top grossing, sold-out tours in 2015 and 2017 and continues to tour the nation with his must-see show. In 2018 he joined  Bruno Mars  on his 24K Magic World Tour performing for thousands of fans in Minneapolis, Detroit, Dallas, Los Angeles and  Mars’  hometown, Honolulu, which made history selling out three nights at Aloha Stadium.

In the years between the GAP Band and his solo success, Wilson survived drug and alcohol addiction, homelessness and prostate cancer.  Sober now for 24 years, the singer says, “I wouldn’t have believed I’d be where I am right now.  That’s why I shout every night because I thank God for allowing me to be here.”

• Port Charges/Taxes/Gratuities/Admin Fee: $365 per person is due when remaining balance is due. The cost for 3rd and 4th passengers in a stateroom is $1,000 per person plus all applicable taxes and fees.

These prices are “cruise only” in U. S. Dollars (USD) and are quoted per person based upon double occupancy, except for “Singles”, and do not include port charges, airfare, ground transportation, onboard purchases, purchased drinks onboard or excursions. It does include all meals, shows and onboard events produced by StarVista LIVE.
