Lovely ladies at Snow Clothing Hire

I ordered 2 size of ski trouser for fit for my husband and discovered the company was only a 25 minute drive away from me so I returned the size that didn't fit in person and met the lovely ladies who run the company who gave me an instant refund. You can buy gear from them but they also hire. I would recommend if you are trying a sport but don't want the cost of buying.

Our experience was ok,any problems we were able to sort out fairly quickly via email or phone call and everything arrived in time as stated. We have heard of others who ordered earlier and experienced lost/not received orders and wrong items sent causing panic as trip approached. Great Service!

Great Service! I have just completed a week in the snow using the ski clothing bundle and boots. From the information requested they were able to adjust my sizing so I had a wonderful and comfortable ski holiday. They also allowed extra time for the return of the equipment due to weekend postal times being short. I would happily hire the gear again!

Roarsome reef and boots

Arrived 2 days before required, snowsuit for my 5 year old (got aged 6-7) was absolute brilliant - ‘Roarsome Reef’ also hired 2x adult boots and 1 kids. Highly recommended!

What a great idea! I didn’t want to spend a fortune buying all the kit for one ski trip as it might not be used again. Because we hired, we were able to use high quality kit and then return it - no need to store it whilst the kids grow out of it! I hired snow boots and a ski jacket and they were both great quality, making the hire charge very reasonable. The fact you can ask to buy them afterwards is a bonus. The process was straightforward and easy, the staff were friendly and helpful. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and will definitely use them again.

Amazing shop with a wide range of ski clothing and sportswear for any taste, style and size

My husband and I were going skiing for the first time so we needed someone’s expert advice on finding the best fitting clothing. We received exceptional service and assistance during our fitting appointment. We ended up hiring 2 ski jackets, 2 pairs of ski trousers, 2 pairs of googles and 1 pair of gloves for 7 days at a very affordable price. It was a good deal for us considering that it could have cost us a fortune if we decided to buy the brand new ski clothing (which we probably wouldn’t be wearing again). The items were of very good quality and kept us warm, dry and safe during our ski adventure in Swiss Alps. Snow Clothing Hire is highly recommended.

Brilliant hire suit for a 3 year old

I was happily surprised by how many days before our holiday the ski suit arrived which removed any stress of it not arriving before we packed. The Unicorn Sparkle suit was brand new which I wasn’t quite expecting and made me a little nervous of a 3 year old wearing it all week but the quality and warmth were great for our daughter. She loved wearing it all week and certainly helped her enjoy her first ever week of skiing. It was great to know that we could send it back afterwards and that it will get reused by someone else. Brilliant service

Brilliant service! Great quality products and the boots and snow suit we received were in a top state, might as well been new! Sizing wise, on boots I probably should have sized up but as I ordered for a 2 year old, that’s quite tricky. Everyone on our winter holiday loved her unicorn themed snowsuit! Ski clothing – should you hire or buy?

When you go skiing, you have to take a lot of stuff. Jackets, trousers, boots, socks, gloves, goggles…it’s a pretty long list.

And if you don’t already have them, the thought of buying those things can be pretty unappealing, since you have so many other things to pay for.

The good news, though, is that help is at hand. You can hire ski clothing. I didn’t even know that was a thing – but it’s true!

When I went to Catalonia, I tested out a couple of ski hire packages to find out how they work and whether they are worth considering when you go on a winter sports trip. First up is Ski-Stuff.

Ski-Stuff is based in Dorset and provides both hiring and purchasing options for ski clothing. It provides gear for school trips and for families and so has options for adults and children.

It stocks kit from a range of suppliers such as Trespass, NoFear and Dare2Be.

You can hire out jackets, salopettes and snow boots for £15 each – and there’s a £5 discount if you take all three.

If you need other bits like socks, goggles or hats, you can buy them at the same time.

How it works

When you send in your order, the staff at Ski-stuff send you a form where you note the dates you’re away, your measurements and which items you prefer.

They let you know what they have in your size and then post it out to you.

When you get back, you return the goods to them within three days and, assuming all is well, you’ll get your £50 security deposit returned.

The package

I was sent a Surfanic Jacket, Crane ski pants and some Trespass boots. The items were in excellent condition and were well packed. They all fitted very well – the company calculate the correct size you need from the measurements you give, allowing the correct amount of room for other layers underneath.

The package Ski-Stuff offers is definitely a good choice for the family and school trip market. The lines it carries are good quality but not designer. The hire prices are very affordable – the only thing not included is the return postage. And the prices for the ‘For Sale’ items are also very reasonable with, for example, goggles and micro fleeces both selling for £15.

So, hire or buy?

I did a quick and very unscientific calculation based on the Trespass website and for a adult woman, you’re looking at something in the region of £80 for their cheapest set of jacket, pants and snow boots.

So hiring would save you at least 50 per cent – it’s a good option if you’ve never been skiing before, not sure if it’s your thing and don’t want to buy kit until you’re sure you’ll go again – or if you’ve got a fast-growing child who would outgrow anything you bought before you went again.

They do only hire out those three items though. You still need to get all of the other bits – and buying all of those can quickly stack up. It would definitely be worth checking with your friends to see what you can borrow before buying them.

Amazing shop with a wide range of ski clothing and sportswear for any taste, style and size

My husband and I were going skiing for the first time so we needed someone’s expert advice on finding the best fitting clothing. We received exceptional service and assistance during our fitting appointment. We ended up hiring 2 ski jackets, 2 pairs of ski trousers, 2 pairs of googles and 1 pair of gloves for 7 days at a very affordable price. It was a good deal for us considering that it could have cost us a fortune if we decided to buy the brand new ski clothing (which we probably wouldn’t be wearing again). The items were of very good quality and kept us warm, dry and safe during our ski adventure in Swiss Alps. Snow Clothing Hire is highly recommended.

A great service at a fair price

A great service at a fair price. We went along to the shop to try on clothes for my teenage daughter before a school ski trip. Fantastic, friendly and expert advice. I highly reccomend hiring clothes as a cost effective and sustainable alternative to buying.

Brilliant hire suit for a 3 year old

I was happily surprised by how many days before our holiday the ski suit arrived which removed any stress of it not arriving before we packed. The Unicorn Sparkle suit was brand new which I wasn’t quite expecting and made me a little nervous of a 3 year old wearing it all week but the quality and warmth were great for our daughter. She loved wearing it all week and certainly helped her enjoy her first ever week of skiing. It was great to know that we could send it back afterwards and that it will get reused by someone else. Will definitely use again for our next ski trip and excited that the company also does other items for hire too.

Brilliant service

Brilliant service! Great quality products and the boots and snow suit we received were in a top state, might as well been new! Sizing wise, on boots I probably should have sized up but as I ordered for a 2 year old, that’s quite tricky. Everyone on our winter holiday loved her unicorn themed snowsuit! Would absolutely use this service again!

It has been a pleasure doing business with this company. As a family who had no clue about what ski wear we'd need for our first skiing holiday, I was finding it quite overwhelming trying to get my head around it all.
