  • Hildegard Wortmann, Member of the Board of Management of AUDI AG: “We live progress – and we know how important true team spirit is, both in sports as well as in the working world”
  • Highlight of the tour: match in front of a crowd of up to 81,000 at legendary Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin

After holding the Audi Summer Tour with the brand with the four rings in digital form for two years due to the coronavirus pandemic, FC Bayern Munich is now finally getting back on the road. This is the fifth time the tour will see the record-breaking German champions hop across the pond to the United States, where they will play games in Washington, D.C. and Green Bay. At the two Audi Soccer Summits, the reigning German champions will face D.C. United and this year’s Champions League semifinalists Manchester City.

Audi is the named sponsor and partner of FC Bayern Munich’s Audi Summer Tour for the seventh time, and this year the tour is heading to the United States for the fifth time. From July 18 to 24, the reigning German champions will travel through the United States as part of their preparations for the new season. The first stop on Bayern Munich’s tour will be Washington, D.C. from July 18 to 22, followed by a second stop in Green Bay, Wisconsin on July 22 and 23. In Washington, Julian Nagelsmann’s team will face host D.C. United at Audi Field in front of a crowd of 20,000. In Green Bay, the match against Manchester City will be played at legendary Lambeau Field, a stadium with a capacity of 81,441. Normally, the Green Bay Packers NFL team plays its games here, and this will be a premiere – never before has this iconic stadium hosted a soccer match.

Oliver Kahn: “I look forward to feeling the enthusiasm of the locals”

“After two years of the pandemic, we are extremely happy to be able to offer our fans the same experience as our previous exceptionally popular and successful Audi Summer Tours. I look forward to feeling the enthusiasm of the locals. From an athletic perspective, the games against D.C. United and Manchester City will be the highlights of this tour. FC Bayern is back on the road – and always looking ahead with the goal of bringing excitement to our fans,” said Oliver Kahn, CEO of FC Bayern Munich. Hildegard Wortmann, Member of the Board of Management of AUDI AG, added: â€œOur partnership with FC Bayern perfectly reflects what we stand for at Audi. We live progress – and we know how important true team spirit is, both in sports as well as in the working world. I’m particularly delighted that we are also able to highlight our brand and our values in one of our most important markets, the United States, by organizing the Audi Summer Tour together with FC Bayern. And it goes without saying that I’m keeping my fingers crossed for successful matches against D.C. United and Manchester City.”

Already the fifth Audi Summer Tour through the US

The Audi Summer Tour will take FC Bayern to the United States for the fifth time this year, following tours through the US in 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2019. Beyond this event, foreign offices in the club’s core markets of the United States (New York), China (Shanghai), and Southeast Asia (Bangkok) carry out and promote the German champion’s international activities. FC Bayern now has over 290,000 club members worldwide. “The virtual Audi Summer Tours we carried out the past two years were extremely well received by our fans around the world thanks to their incredibly creative content. Nevertheless, nothing can replace genuine interactions with the people in their respective homelands. Over the years, the Audi Summer Tour has become an important way to present our club globally – and in doing so, to spread our values as well as our Bavarian roots to the rest of the world,” explained Andreas Jung, Executive Board Member responsible for marketing at FC Bayern.

Soccer: Bundesliga, training camp FC Bayern

There’ll be only a few matchdays left before the Bundesliga finishes, but the summer is anything but rest for Bayern Munich . In addition to planning and finalizing transfers, they will be going on a few trips across the globe in the off-season. I wrote back in January about Bayern’s planning for the Asia tour and now it’s been confirmed.

They were scheduled to go to Sydney, Australia and play a couple of friendlies right after the league ends, but it looks like they won’t go after all:

Bayern's Australia tour, scheduled after the last game of the season, has been cancelled. The club was promised €4-5m, but the organizers couldn't fulfill the financial promises [ @cfbayern , @altobelli13 ] — Bayern & Germany (@iMiaSanMia) April 30, 2023

Here’s what the schedule looks like so far:

July 15 – 20: Tegernsee training camp (via @iMiaSanMia )

July 24 – August 3: Audi Summer Tour in Asia (8 th edition of the summer tour)

· Two games in Tokyo against Kawasaki Frontale and Manchester City (plus another destination in Japan against a third team)

· Mini-tournament (Audi Cup?) in Singapore against Liverpool , Tottenham Hotspur , and AS Roma .

Getting busy, eh? Both the front office and the team.

Finally, we can get revenge on Manchester City with this third leg! (We’re still in the Champions League , right?)

Sport-Club Freiburg v FC Bayern MĂŒnchen - Bundesliga

Anyway, the club aims to maintain their roots by holding a training camp in Tegernsee per under-fire CEO Oliver Kahn:

FC Bayern is always aware of its roots in Bavaria and Munich, and it is part of the club’s tradition that we always prepare for the new season at Tegernsee. At the same time, we want to give our fans around the world the opportunity to see our players live on a regular basis. We’re looking forward to this year’s ‘Audi Summer Tour’ in Asia.

Andreas Jung, head of marketing, is aware of the club’s huge yet ever-growing fan base in Asia and would want to continue that.

FC Bayern has a huge fan base in Asia that is constantly growing. We want to continue to drive the great enthusiasm for our sport in the region and inspire people with our team on site.

Which is why their motto for this summer tour is “A way to inspire” ( via the club’s official website ):

Under the motto “A way to inspire”, the first stop of this year’s summer tour is Tokyo. Two “Audi Football Summits” will take place in the Japanese capital on July 26 and 29 in the national stadium. The opponent on July 29th is Kawasaki Frontale, the opponent of the opening game will be announced like the second destination of the tour with a third game. FC Bayern is visiting Japan with its professional team for the first time since 2008. The games in Tokyo are organized jointly with SPTV, the Japanese media partner of the Bundesliga, and the DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga. Last year FC Bayern was on its summer tour in the USA. 2017 was the last time we were guests in Asia, at that time the stations were called China and Singapore.

When are they gonna visit the Philippines? I’m still waiting.

The Audi Summer Tour 2023 will see FC Bayern Munich travel to Asia from July 24 to August 3 ahead of the start of the new season. There, the reigning German champions will meet treble winners Manchester City with former FCB coach Pep Guardiola, among other rivals. New signings RaphaĂ«l Guerreiro and Konrad Laimer are among the travelling party. The brand with the four rings is also bringing a new member along: the Audi Q8 e-tron , which is currently being launched in Japan. Other Asian markets will follow. Audi is reflecting the Summer Tour’s color scheme with special decals as a unique homage to FC Bayern.

From Tegernsee to Tokyo: After a training camp in Upper Bavaria, FC Bayern Munich is traveling to Asia together with its long-time partner Audi under the motto “A way to inspire”. The first stop on the Audi Summer Tour is Tokyo: At the Audi Football Summit in Japan’s capital, head coach Thomas Tuchel’s team will go up against English champions and Champions League winners Manchester City on July 26 (12:30 p.m., CEST). On July 29, the team faces Japanese top-league club Kawasaki Frontale (12 p.m., CEST). The next day, Germany’s record champion club will fly on to Singapore: At the Singapore Trophy presented by Audi, FC Bayern will face Liverpool FC, managed by coach JĂŒrgen Klopp on August 2 (1:30 p.m., CEST). RTL will broadcast the high-profile friendly matches against Manchester City and Liverpool FC live on free television in Germany at noon. The games, including the match against Kawasaki Frontale, can also be viewed on pay-TV channel Sky. This is the eighth time that the brand with the four rings has given its name to, and partnered with, FC Bayern Munich’s Audi Summer Tour.

“Our partnership with FC Bayern Munich shows: We live progress! We’re also demonstrating this with the Audi Summer Tour in Japan and Singapore, with sporting events and fascinating experiences in strong solidarity with our partner FC Bayern Munich. Asia is of great importance to Audi as our most important growth market. I’m delighted that we are now expanding our product portfolio with the launch of the Audi Q8 e-tron and further strengthening our e-offensive in Asia in the long term,” says Hildegard Wortmann, Member of the Board of Management for Sales and Marketing at AUDI AG.

The Audi Q8 e-tron with the design of the new FC Bayern away jersey

The Audi Q8 e-tron , which will join the FC Bayern Munich team on its trip to Asia, is getting special decals. With the colors black, green, and purple, they reflect the color scheme of the Audi Summer Tour.

Andreas Jung, Executive Board Member responsible for marketing at FC Bayern said: “This year, the Audi Summer Tour offers our fans in Asia the opportunity to experience FC Bayern players live for the first time in five years. We are looking forward to our time in Tokyo and Singapore, where our fan base across the region continues to grow. We want to create even more enthusiasm for soccer there and, together with our partners, inspire people beyond the pitch itself.”

FC Bayern Munich is making its first guest appearance in Japan since 2008; on its last visit to Asia in 2017, the team stopped at China and Singapore.

Top model features over 40 driver assistance systems

As the successor to the electric pioneer, the Audi e-tron , the Audi Q8 e-tron stands out with an optimized drive concept, improved aerodynamics, and higher charging performance and battery capacity. All these innovations make for an increased range up to 600 kilometers (under the WLTP standard) for the Sportback model. The new model from Ingolstadt also offers maximum space and comfort. The features of the Q8 e-tron also meet the demands of discerning Japanese customers, who see the brand with the four rings as a progressive player in the BEV segment.

Among other achievements, the electric SUV and crossover top model sets new standards with its luxury-class interior, which is even brighter thanks to the power panoramic glass roof. Like in all luxury-class models from Audi, the Q8 e-tron also uses the MMI touch response operating system. Practically all the car’s features can be activated via two high-resolution touch displays. In addition, the Audi Q8 e-tron provides drivers with approximately 40 driver assistance systems.

The brand with the four rings and FC Bayern Munich have been partners since 2002; their partnership was recently extended until 2029. Audi has also been a shareholder in FC Bayern MĂŒnchen AG since 2011.

Bayern Munich planning to use Hiroki Ito predominantly as a left back

Bayern Munich have officially begun their preseason preparations for the 2024/25 season and their training camp in Tegernsee is right around the corner before they embark upon a brief journey to South Korea for the Audi Summer Tour. On said tour, they will taken on Tottenham Hotspur in a friendly in Seoul. Prior to that, they will also have friendlies against FC Rottach-Egern and FC Duren and their competitive fixtures list begins on August 16th for the first round DFB-Pokal clash at SSV Ulm.

Vincent Kompany still does not have all of his players from the Bayern squad that were involved with international matches for their nations in international tournaments this summer, and he also does not have new signing Michael Olise, who is competing with France in the Paris summer Olympics. Other than that, most of the healthy players have already reported for duty at Sabener Straße, including new signing Hiroki Ito.

Ito was Bayern’s first official summer signing, having acquired the Japanese international from VfB Stuttgart for a fee of around €24 million in efforts to revamp the club’s backline. He can play both center back and left back, as was on display during his tenure at Stuttgart, but information from journalists Vinzent Tschirpke, Hanna Raif, and Philipp Kessler (via @iMiaSanMia ), Bayern is planning on mostly using Ito at left back.

It is understood that Bayern very much appreciates Ito’s passing ability and how it will mesh well with Kompany’s possession-based style of play. He has been likened to Manchester City defender Nathan AkĂ©, who is also a hybrid center-back / left-back. The Dutch international was also a player that was once on Bayern’s list of transfer targets.

With Ito, there will, of course, be competition with Alphonso Davies, assuming the Canadian international does not leave Bayern this summer. It is no secret that Real Madrid want to sign him, but they did not want to spend more than around €30-40 million to sign him, so they are ready to wait until next summer to get him as a free agent. Davies’ contract at Bayern is set to expire in June of 2025. If Davies does leave this summer before the window closes at the end of August, Ito could very well be pushing for a starting role at left-back.

Bayern Munich announce summer 2024 tour of South Korea

Bayern Munich are heading back to Asia, when they will visit South Korea as part of their Audi Summer Tour.

Bayern will take part in the “Coupang Play Series 2024”, with matches taking place at the World Cup Stadium. Their opponents and the dates of their fixtures will be announced at a later date.

It is the second time in as many years that the record champions have touched down on the Asian continent, following last summer's trip to Japan and Singapore . They also stopped off in China and Singapore in 2017, but this will be the club's first visit to South Korea.

As well as stepping up preparations for the 2024/25 season in friendly action, Bayern's players will be involved in various fan-centred activities. South Korea international Minjae Kim can expect a particularly warm reception, though the Bayern squad is brimming with international stars, including Alphonso Davies , Harry Kane , Jamal Musiala and Manuel Neuer .

In June 2022, Bayern opened an office in Bangkok, Thailand, designed to better reach fans in Southeast Asia, India and Oceania. It is the club's third base outside of Germany, with New York (USA) and Shanghai (China) offices in operation since 2014 and 2017 respectively.

RB Leipzig's Dani Olmo linked with Bayern Munich move

Dani Olmo has reportedly been hoping to depart Bundesliga side RB Leipzig during the summer transfer window.

Following an impressive Euro 2024 campaign with Spain, interest from top European clubs have surged, with Bayern Munich among the suitors.

Bayern view Olmo as a backup option, should their pursuit of Xavi Simons and Desire Doue fall through. Nonetheless, Olmo has expressed his intent to leave Leipzig, stating his openness to joining Bayern or another club.

In an interview with Spanish newspaper Marca, Olmo shared his thoughts on the situation: "My advisors, who are dealing with this, already know what I want to do. I don't know if I will stay in Germany; we will see.

"I want to be in a place where I am appreciated and loved, and what I want to do is win. There are several options; we will see what happens."

Olmo previously spent his formative years at Barcelona's academy from 2007 to 2014 before moving to Dinamo Zagreb. Now, Barcelona have reportedly shown renewed interest in re-signing the versatile forward, competing with Bayern Munich for his signature.

Bayern could face a potential setback with Paris Saint-Germain's late interest in Desire Doue. This development could force Bayern to act swiftly to secure Olmo's transfer.

His ù‚ÂŹ60 million release clause is valid until July 20, giving Bayern a narrow window to finalize the deal if PSG succeed in signing Doue.

Olmo's priority remains clear: to find a club where he feels valued and can continue to achieve success. With Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the mix, the next chapter of Olmo's career promises to be a significant one.
