1. Taj Mahal

Rightfully considered as the most beautiful monument in the world, Taj Mahal is located in the historical city of Agra. Popularly known as the “symbol of love”, Taj Mahal was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan as a memorial for his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal who died while giving birth to their 14th child in 1631.

Every year millions of visitors from India and all over the world pass through the magnificent gates to catch a glimpse of this breathtaking monument, and almost none leave feeling disappointed or underwhelmed by the grandeur of this monument.

The Taj Mahal was constructed using white marble imported from Makrana in Rajasthan. Over 20,000 people from all over India and Central Asia worked on this grand building and it took almost 17 years to complete the construction of the Taj Mahal.

The construction was finally completed by 1653 AD. The tomb is laid out in a rectangular shape, and can be approached through a massive gateway which has an arch and alcoves on both sides of it.

Each of the corners of the mausoleum platform is graced with 40 meter high white minarets.  Within the Taj you will also find an inlay of thousands of semi-precious stones carved with flowers.

The four Taj features impressive vaulted arches containing pietra dura scrollwork and the quotations from the Quran. The whole structure is topped off by four small domes.

Agra Fort was the main residence of the Mughals till 1638, after which the capital was shifted from Agra to New Delhi. Agra Fort is one of the best-known monuments built by the Mughals and has intricately decorated buildings.

It is a magnificent blend of the Mughal style of art and architecture and is one of the most visited tourist spots in Agra. The Red Fort in Agra covers a vast area of three kilometers and is surrounded by a 70 feet tall wall. The walls are made of red sandstone and they completely surround the fort from all the directions.

The Fort has four main gates on its four sides. Built solely out of red sandstone, this expansive architecture looms over the beautiful city of Agra. Within the premises of the fort lie the most exquisitely built Pearl Mosque, Diwan-i I Khas, Diwan-i I Aam, Musamman Burj, Sheesh Mahal, Moti Masjid, Nagina Masjid and Jahangiri Mahal.

3. Mehtab Bagh

Mehtab Bagh was originally built by Emperor Babur as the last park in a series of eleven parks on the Yamuna’s east bank. This was long before the Taj was constructed.

The Garden eventually fell into a state of disrepair until it was little more than a huge mound of sand. The park was revived again to protect the Taj Mahal from the erosive effects of the sand blown across the river.

Mahtab Bagh is now fully functional and is now one the best places from where tourists get an excellent view of the great mausoleum. On our 5 day Delhi Agra tour from 23rd to 27th December 2023, we had comfortable bus for travels, good hotels, timely and great breakfasts, meals and tea/coffee. A Christmas party was also arranged by Veena World and we had lots of fun. Our tour guide Sagar Chachad entertained us with lots of travel stories and jokes during the journey, there was never a dull moment! Our 2nd tour guide Monish Patil was a very patient and happy person who took great photos for us. Thanks to them both, we could visit all the planned locations without missing even a single one. Delhi Agra Tour of Veena World -I can say was an amazing historical joyride that imbibed pride in our culture, people, and system. To begin with the first day, Tour managers Mr.Advait Naik and Mr.Pranesh Sawant were very welcoming. Tour ends by approximate at 11:30pm. Drop at Delhi Hotel or nearby. Overnight stay at hotel. Day 2: Early Breakfast in Hotel (as applicable). Check out from the hotel.
