  • 13,500 BTU air conditioner
  • 20,000 BTU heater

Keystone is one of the more well-established RV manufacturers with a reputation for infusing value with the high build quality.

With a hitch weight of only 485 pounds and a gross vehicle weight rating of 4,400-pounds, the 2020 Keystone Springdale 1800BH is in range to be towed by a half-ton pickup truck, a light-duty pickup truck or even a full-size SUV.

You also have to like the 1,006-pound payload capacity, which means you can bring a lot of your essential gear in the travel trailer, without having to pack your tow vehicle like a sardine can!

The convenient pass-thru storage compartment at the front lets you haul gear to your destination, then gives you an easy place to store dirty boots and other soiled outdoor gear.

Though I must admit the $9,999 price tag is kissing the upper limits of the price range.

Unless there’s a promotion, a clearance sale, or you are a savvy negotiator, the tax and licensing costs might push the overall cost a little over $10,000.

2020 Keystone - Springdale 1800BH Floorplan

About The Travel Trailer’s Interior

The 27-gallon freshwater storage tank and the pair of 30-gallon gray water and black water storage tanks are a really nice touch.

It also means the 2020 Keystone Springdale 1800BH can support a full bathroom, which is somewhat rare in a camper trailer that costs less than $10,000. It includes a sink, a small shower stall, and a flushing toilet.

The freshwater and wastewater tanks also help support the compact kitchen’s sink. It includes a small RV refrigerator as well as a two-burner propane stovetop.

There’s a large dinette table that can also be turned into an additional sleeping space.

The front of the 2020 Keystone Springdale 1800BH houses a queen size bed, which is also somewhat rare in a travel trailer under $10,000.

The aft area has a pair of bunk beds. On paper Keystone claims this travel trailer will sleep up to 6 people, but five if more realistic.

2. Gulf Stream Ameri-Lite Super Lite 16BHC Travel Trailer

The 2020 Gulf Stream - Ameri-Lite 16BHC

  • Price: $9,500
  • Length 19-feet
  • Dry Weight of 2,590 lbs.
  • Payload Capacity of up to 460 lbs.
  • Hitch Weight of 330 lbs.
  • Fresh Water Tank Capacity of 30-gallons
  • Total Gray Water Tank Capacity of 36-gallons
  • Total Black Water Tank Capacity of 36-gallons
  • Sleeps up to 4 people
  • 8,000 BTU air conditioner
  • 16,000 BTU heater

Gulf Stream is one of the more beloved RV institutions that attracts its own loyal following year after year.

Largely based on an aluminum and wood construction platform the 19-foot 2020 Gulf Stream Ameri-Lite 16BHC only has a hitch weight rating of 330-pounds.

This puts it in range for even a mid-size SUV with a robust tow package installed.

Here again, this travel trailer rides the top end of the price range with a price tag around $9,500.

So, it might just reach over the $10,000 mark after licensing fees and taxes.

Though Gulf Stream does have a habit of overproducing beyond market demand, so if you wait under the late summer or early fall, you might just be able to scoop up a 2020 Gulf Stream Ameri-Lite 16BHC as part of a season-ending clearance sale.

The 2020 Gulf Stream - Ameri-Lite 16BHC Floorplan

On paper Gulf Stream claims this travel trailer can sleep up to four people, but that might be stretching it.

The “Master Bed” is actually a convertible dinette table, that isn’t necessarily comfortable for two adults to stretch out on.

Though there are two comfortable bunks in the back. This makes the 2020 Gulf Stream Ameri-Lite 16BHC a good option for a single parent with two kids, who wants to introduce them to camping in the great outdoors.

There’s a full bathroom in the 2020 Gulf Stream Ameri-Lite 16BHC. It includes a shower stall, a sink, and a flushing toilet.

Both the bathroom and the kitchen sink are supported by the 30-gallon freshwater tank as well as the 36-gallon black water and 36-gallon gray water storage tanks.

This disparity in volume means you can bring additional freshwater supplies with you in an Aquatainer or similar freshwater storage tank for doing things like washing hands and dishes when you boondock or camp off the grid.

The kitchen also has a small RV absorption refrigerator. It was designed to be durable enough to handle the bumpy rigors of driving on gravel roads and staying in primitive campsites.

It can run off electricity from an RV park’s shore power, a generator, or even propane. There’s also a two-burner stove to let you cook small meals inside.

3. 2021 Sunray 129 Travel Trailer

The 2021 Sunray 129 Travel Trailer

  • Price: $9,000
  • Dry Weight of 1,840 lbs.
  • GVWR of 3,500 lbs.
  • Hitch Weight of 140 lbs.
  • Fresh Water Tank Capacity of 21-gallons
  • Total Black Water Tank Capacity of 24-gallons

The 2021 Sunray 129 Travel Trailer is a lightweight travel trailer camper and measures in just a hair under 19-feet long.

With a hitch weight of 140-pounds and a gross vehicle weight rating of 3,500-pounds, it’s in range for a full-size SUV or a mid-size SUV with a towing package to move it from Point A to Point B.

The 21-gallon freshwater tank and the 24-gallon black water storage tank are just the right sizes to support a small family for a little off the grid boondocking.

Yet if they aren’t so large that they drive up the gross vehicle weight. For a camper this compact, there’s even a 13,500 BTU air conditioner.

This rating is more than sufficient to keep the interior cool, even when the temperature outside is hot and humidity soaks the air.

The 2021 Sunray 129 Travel Trailer Floorplan

The interior of the Sunray 129 is the definition of cozy, yet it doesn’t feel cramped.

This is thanks in part to a very thoughtful layout and engineering in the placement of the beds and bathroom features. The toilet is even conveniently tucked into a bench area.

The dinette in the 2021 Sunray 129 quickly converts into a relatively spacious bed.

There’s also additional bunk space for kids. Two average-size adults could fit in the converted dinette.

Though the different seams of the cushions can be a little awkward and overly firm.

If you did want to sleep two people on it, you might want to add an air mattress for a smooth sleeping surface and added comfort.

The kitchen area includes a two-burner propane stove, as well as a modest RV refrigerator.

It’s an absorption refrigerator that can run on propane or electricity, which is nice for times when you want to do a little boondocking.

There’s even a microwave, which isn’t always found in a travel trailer for under $10,000.

4. 2020 Forest River Cherokee Wolf Pup 16BHS Travel Trailer

Forest River - Cherokee Wolf Pup 16BHS

  • Dry Weight of 3,097 lbs.
  • Payload Capacity of up to 708 lbs.
  • Hitch Weight of 377 lbs.
  • Total Gray Water Tank Capacity of 23-gallons
  • Total Black Water Tank Capacity of 23-gallons
  • 6-gallon hot water heater tank
  • Sleeps up to 5 people

Forest River has long been a leader in the RV industry. Today they are part of the Berkshire Hathaway conglomerate, which gives them access to high-quality materials, and components as well as cost-efficient manufacturing technology.

This ultimately translates into a friendly price point on a high-quality camper like the 2020 Forest River Cherokee Wolf Pup 16BHS.

It has a lot in common with the bigger brothers in the Cherokee Wolf line, which further emphasizes the value of this travel trailer camper.

Yet at just a little over 3,000 pounds in dry weight and a hitch weight of only 377-pounds, it’s light and nimble enough to be towed by a full-size SUV or a light-duty pickup truck.

The 32-gallon fresh water tank is more than sufficient to support the bathroom shower, sink, and toilet, as well as the kitchen sink.

It also has a 23-gallon gray water storage tank and a 23-gallon black water storage tank.

For a small family, this means you can boondock off the grid and without the supplies of an RV park for several days at a time.

Forest River Cherokee Wolf Pup 16BHS Floorplan

The interior of the 2020 Forest River Cherokee Wolf Pup 16BHS is very comfortable, yet still compact.

There’s a queen-size bed in the front that serves as the master suite. It also has two bunk beds and a convertible sofa bed in the form of the dinette.

On paper, Forest River claims this travel trailer can sleep up to 5 people, and it’s a claim that holds true in the real world.

The kitchen includes a two-burner stove and a fair amount of storage space. There’s also a modest RV refrigerator that runs on electricity or propane.

Though you might want to also keep a separate cooler for beverages on ice and cold snacks. This will let you maximize the food storage potential inside the RV refrigerator.

The 2020 Forest River Cherokee Wolf Pup 16BHS has a full bathroom, which is somewhat rare in travel trailers under $10,000.

The shower stall is arguable large, and there is even a 6-gallon hot water heater, which can let one person take a long shower, or two separate quick showers.

The 13,500 BTU air conditioner is more than powerful enough to keep things cool inside the Cherokee Wolf Pup.

Though a small battery-powered tent fan will help keep the air circulating so anyone sleeping on the top bunk will get the cool air that tends to pool at the floor.

The 20,000 BTU heater is also plenty warm when the weather turns cold. You could very easily use the 2020 Forest River Cherokee Wolf Pup 16BHS travel trailer as a fall to early winter base camp for hunting trips.

Just keep in mind that the freshwater and wastewater storage tanks and the primary water line are not insulated.

So, if you do use it in temperatures under 32-degrees, you’ll want to take measures to keep the on-board water system from freezing up.

5. 2020 Jayco Jay Flight SLX 7 145 RB Travel Trailer

2020 Jayco - Jay Flight SLX 145RB

  • Length 16.5-feet
  • Dry Weight of 2,405 lbs.
  • Payload Capacity of up to 735 lbs.
  • GVWR 3,140 lbs.
  • Hitch Weight of 220 lbs.
  • Fresh Water Tank Capacity of 10-gallons
  • Total Gray Water Tank Capacity of 19.9-gallons
  • Total Black Water Tank Capacity of 19.9-gallons
  • Sleeps up to 3 people
  • 18,000 BTU heater

Jayco is another RV industry leader that resides under the umbrella of the much larger Thor Industries.

Here again, access to superior materials and cost-efficient manufacturing helps keep the price tag down on the 2020 Jayco Jay Flight SLX 145RB.

Though, there are some trim levels and optional extras available that can drive up the price on this 16.5-foot long $9,999 travel trailer.

So, if you really need to pinch a penny or two, you might want to wait until the inevitable clearance sales in the fall that you see at many RV dealerships.

Especially RV dealerships in the northern United States and Canada, who need to reduce inventory before the snow flies.

With a gross vehicle weight rating of 3,140-pounds and a hitch weight of only 220-pounds, the 2020 Jayco Jay Flight SLX 145RB is easily towable by a light-duty pickup truck, half-ton pickup truck or a full-size SUV.

Even some mid-size SUV’s with a robust towing package should be able to tow this travel trailer safely at highway speeds.

The trade-off in all this lightweight construction and nimbleness is that it comes with relatively small freshwater storage tanks and wastewater storage tanks.

The freshwater storage tank only has a capacity of 10-gallons, which means it can’t even fill the 6-gallon hot water heater’s tank twice!

If you really want to enjoy a hot shower each day, you’ll either need to stay at an RV park that offers a direct connection to its water resources, or you will need to bring extra freshwater tanks with you for washing hands.

2020 Jayco - Jay Flight SLX 145RB Floorplan

The 2020 Jayco Jay Flight SLX 145RB has a convertible dinette bed and a convertible sofa that let two to three people sleep in an L-configuration.

It’s a great combination for a single parent and an only child or a small family with one child.

The kitchen in the 2020 Jayco Jay Flight SLX 145RB includes a 2-burner propane stovetop as well as a microwave, and a refrigerator.

The absorption refrigerator can run on electricity or propane and be designed to be very durable for times when you need to tow this travel trailer over rough bumpy, gravel roads.

There’s an impressive amount of storage throughout the 2020 Jayco Jay Flight SLX 145RB.

Two overhead storage bins in the kitchen let you keep non-perishable foods close at hand, as well as your necessary kitchen equipment.

There’s also a wardrobe closet at the main access door, which is great for keeping dirty boots and coats out of the main living area.

The 8,000 BTU air conditioner and the 18,000 BTU per hour heater in this travel trailer is more than sufficient to keep you cool in the summer and warm in the fall.

With a little underbelly insulation and skirting, the 2020 Jayco Jay Flight SLX 145RB could support a pair of hunters deep into a northern tier October hunting trip.

6. 2018 Dutchmen Aspen Trail 1700BH Travel Trailer

2018 Dutchmen - Aspen Trail 1700BH

  • Price: $9,800
  • Length 21.4-feet
  • Dry Weight of 3,200 lbs.
  • Payload Capacity of up to 651 lbs.
  • Hitch Weight of 452 lbs.
  • Total Gray Water Tank Capacity of 28-gallons
  • Total Black Water Tank Capacity of 28-gallons
  • Sleeps up to 7 people

In 2018 Dutchmen’s production of travel trailers tended to exceed consumer demand.

This means in certain regions of the US, you can find the 2018 Dutchmen Aspen Trail 1700BH on a clearance sale at a dealership, or a gently pre-owned model for under $10,000.

With a 452-pound hitch weight and a dry weight of 3,200-pounds, you will need a half-ton pickup truck to tow it down the highway or up elevation.

The tradeoff here is that the 27-gallon freshwater storage tank and the dual 28-gallon wastewater storage tanks are more than enough to support a modest-size family for several days of off the grid camping.

2018 Dutchmen - Aspen Trail 1700BH Floorplan

About The Travel Trailers Interior

The 2018 Dutchmen Aspen Trail 1700BH was engineered to sleep a family or a group of friends.

There’s a convertible queen-size bed in the front of the travel trailer, as well as a pair of bunks in the rear.

The midship dinette also converts into a comfortable bed. On paper, Dutchmen claims you can sleep up to 7 people in this iteration of the Aspen Trail, but I think 5 is more realistic in the real-world.

There’s a full bathroom in the rear of the 2018 Dutchmen Aspen Trail 1700BH, which is somewhat rare in a travel trailer under $10,000.

It includes a flushing toilet, a decent size sink, and a shower stall. There’s even enough depth in the tub basin of the shower stall to bath a young child.

The kitchen in the 2018 Dutchmen Aspen Trail 1700BH resides along the passenger sidewall of the travel trailer.

It includes a two-burner stove, a microwave, and a large pantry closet. There’s also a modest-sized RV absorption refrigerator that can run on electricity or propane.

7. 2020 Rockwood Geo Pro 19FBS Travel Trailer

Forest River - Rockwood Geo Pro G19FBS

  • Price: $9,950
  • Length 20-feet
  • Dry Weight of 3,075 lbs.
  • Payload Capacity of up to 1,338 lbs.
  • Hitch Weight of 413 lbs.
  • Fresh Water Tank Capacity of 37-gallons
  • 1 power-retractable slide out
  • A mid-size RV kitchen

Here again, we see Forest River throwing its considerable weight around in the travel trailer industry.

The 2020 Forest River Rockwood Geo Pro G19FBS, is another camper that pushes right up on the $10,000 budget limit, but it has the features and builds quality to truly justify the price tag.

The 413-pound hitch weight and 3,075-pound dry weight of the 2020 Forest River – Rockwood Geo Pro G19FBS translates into the need for a robust tow vehicle.

A full-size SUV, a half-ton pickup truck, or a light-duty pickup truck with a robust tow package will be needed to tow this travel trailer at highway speed or up a steep grade.

Part of this sizeable girth is related to the high capacity of the 37-gallon freshwater storage tank and the two 30-gallon wastewater storage tanks.

They play an essential role in supporting the complete bathroom as well as the kitchen sink.

It also makes the 2020 Forest River Rockwood Geo Pro G19FBS a great option for boondocking trips away from the resources of an RV park.

The front of the 2020 Forest River Rockwood Geo Pro G19FBS also features a pass-through exterior storage compartment.

Not only can it help you haul gear in the travel trailer rather than in the tow vehicle, but it also gives you a large compartment to keep dirty outdoor gear once you set up camp.

Forest River - Rockwood Geo Pro G19FBS Floorplan

A lot of thought was put into the floorplan of the 2020 Forest River Rockwood Geo Pro G19FBS. Careful placement means that there is a true queen size bed in the front.

There’s also a comfortable sofa that serves as a bed. This is a great layout for a small family who likes to go RVing.

The kitchen is impressively large for a travel trailer under $10,000. It features a three-burner gas stove, a microwave, and an independent stove.

There’s even an RV absorption refrigerator that can run on propane or electricity.

There’s also an outdoor grill station that can be handy for times when you don’t want the heat of cooking lunch or dinner to compete with the 13,500 BTU rooftop air conditioner.

Another area where the 2020 Forest River Rockwood Geo Pro G19FBS sets itself apart from most of the competitors in this field is that it comes with a modest entertainment center.

It’s nicely positioned to be easy to watch from both the sofa/dinette couch as well as the queen size bed. That way the whole family can settle in enjoy a movie on a rainy day.

8. 2020 Forest River Flagstaff 176LTD Pop-Up Camper

2020 Forest River – Flagstaff 176LTD

  • Price: $7,500
  • Length 17-feet
  • Dry Weight of 1,456 lbs.
  • Payload Capacity of up to 793 lbs.
  • Hitch Weight of 162 lbs.
  • Compact RV kitchen

While technically considered to be a popup or expandable camper, the 2020 Forest River – Flagstaff 176LTD is one of the most popular, lightweight campers on the market today.

It’s even light enough to be towed by a midsize SUV, or a robust sedan with a towing package.

There’s even an exterior awning to help keep the sun off you while relaxing outside, complete with a screening area to keep the bugs at bay.

This particular model has a modest 10-gallon freshwater storage tank. It’s meant to support the small kitchen sink for things like washing hands and dishes.

While there isn’t a hot water heater included, there is the plumbing to accommodate one.

It’s a great option for installing an aftermarket tankless water heater. There’s even a 20,000 BTU heater for keeping you warm on a cool summer’s evening.

The 2020 Forest River – Flagstaff 176LTD is a great entry level camper for small families that want to explore the great outdoors, without breaking the bank.

Then because it’s so popular, you can potentially resell it again in a few years when your kids are older and you want to upgrade.

2020 Forest River – Flagstaff 176LTD Floorplan

About The Camper’s Interior

Despite it’s relatively small size the 2020 Forest River – Flagstaff 176LTD has a compact RV kitchen.

It’s conveniently located at midship and includes a 2-burner propane stovetop as well as a durable RV absorption refrigerator.

Depending on where you are staying the refrigerator is designed to run on electricity or propane.

The heavy-duty interior construction and the fact that there are very few moving parts, means the RV refrigerator is tough enough to handle a long life traveling over bumping roads.

On paper the 2020 Forest River – Flagstaff 176LTD can sleep up to 6 people.

It includes a pair of full-size beds, one on each expandable section as well as a convertible sofa bed.

Though in real life it sleeps around 4 adults comfortably, though young children could share a full-size bed.

9. The 2020 Coachmen Clipper Ultra-Lite 17BH Travel Trailer

2020 Coachmen - Clipper Ultra-Lite 17BH

  • Price: $8,950
  • Dry Weight of 3,014 lbs.
  • Payload Capacity of up to 826 lbs.
  • GVWR of 3,840 lbs.
  • Hitch Weight of 340 lbs.
  • Fresh Water Tank Capacity of 33-gallons
  • Total Gray Water Tank Capacity of 25-gallons
  • Total Black Water Tank Capacity of 25-gallons

Coachmen is one of the more established names in the travel trailer niche of the RV industry.

They have a long-standing reputation for infusing long-term value and thoughtful features into most of their models. You see this in the 2020 Coachmen – Clipper Ultra-Lite 17BH.

With a gross vehicle weight rating of only 3,840 pounds, a hitch weight of 340-pounds and a payload capacity of 826-pounds it’s easy to tow.

If you have a full-size SUV, a light duty pickup, or even a mid-size SUV with a solid towing package in its trim level, you should be able to tow this hard side travel trailer with confidence.

The impressive 826-pound payload capacity is thanks in large part to a large pass-thru storage area in the front.

There’s also a lot of overhead storage space inside the camper. If you are going to be loading a lot of gear with you for a trip, you’ll want to make sure to evenly distribute it, so as to help prevent trailer sway problems when traveling at highway speeds.

The 13,500 BTU air conditioner is just strong enough to keep the interior properly cool on hot, humid summer days.

The awning also helps shield half of the 2020 Coachmen – Clipper Ultra-Lite 17BH from the sun, which further helps the air conditioner’s performance.

There’s also a 20,000 BTU propane heater, that will keep you cozy for fall hunting and leaf color tours.

2020 Coachmen - Clipper Ultra-Lite 17BH Floorplan

About The Travel Trailer’s Interior

One look at the floorplan in the 2020 Coachmen – Clipper Ultra-Lite 17BH, and you’ll see that it was laid out to appeal to families with multiple children.

The master bed in the front of the camper measures in at a tidy 54-inches by 74-inches, and will accommodate full-size bed sheets.

In the rear there are a pair of bunks that gives each child their own space. If you happen to not be traveling with your children the bunks can easily convert into spacious storage shelves.

The dinette area also turns into a bed that’s big enough for a teenager or a snoring spouse.

The kitchen in the 2020 Coachmen – Clipper Ultra-Lite 17BH includes a two-burner stove as well as a sink.

There’s also a mid-size RV absorption refrigerator which is big enough to hold perishable items.

Though if you do have two or three hungry mouths to feed, you might want to also invest in a large cooler for things like cold drinks and sliced cheese.

It’s also worth noting that there’s a large pantry cupboard, and an impressive amount of overhead storage throughout the camper.

It’s enough to let everyone have their own little storage space for personal items without having things intermingling on the shelf.

The rear of the 2020 Coachmen – Clipper Ultra-Lite 17BH also houses the bathroom.

There’s a flushing toilet, a sink for hand washing, and even a modest shower with a shallow tub basin. It’s just deep enough that you could give a toddler a bath.

10.  2019 Shasta Shasta 18FQ Travel Trailer

2019 Shasta - Shasta 18FQ

  • Price: $8,550
  • Dry Weight of 3,235 lbs.
  • Payload Capacity of up to 1,796 lbs.
  • Hitch Weight of 325 lbs.
  • Fresh Water Tank Capacity of 42-gallons

Shasta is an older RV manufacturer that is making a comeback in the travel trailer niche.

Their 2019 Shasta 18FQ has a floor plan that is designed to cater to young families with one or perhaps two children.

On paper, and in the real world, it’s a great entry level camper that you might be able to get for very cheap at an overstock clearance sale from an RV dealer, or second hand through a private party that is looking to upgrade with their growing family.

Right off the bat the impressive 1,796-pound payload capacity really jumps off the page. This is rare for a travel trailer that’s priced under $10,000.

It’s thanks in large part to an exterior pass through storage compartment in the front.

Just be wise about how you load the 2019 Shasta 18FQ with gear. You don’t want to make it too nose heavy.

There’s a complete bathroom in the 2019 Shasta 18FQ, which is supported by a large 42-gallon freshwater storage tank as well as a 36-gallon gray water storage tank and another 36-gallon black water storage tank.

Here again, these are impressive numbers for a travel trailer that costs less than $10,000.

It really helps if you are the type of RV adventurer who likes to get off the grid for a little boondocking in the great outdoors.

2019 Shasta - Shasta 18FQ Floorplan

The sleeping space inside the 2019 Shasta 18FQ includes a 60-inch by 74-inch mattress in the front.

It’s surrounded on each side by wardrobe closets for his and hers storage. There’s also a large overhead storage shelf for communal items.

The large midship dinette converts into a modest-size bed. It’s certainly large enough to sleep a teenager, another adult, or perhaps two small children.

The kitchen in the 2019 Shasta 18FQ includes a 3-burner stove, as well as a microwave.

This is large and well-appointed for a travel trailer under $10,000. There’s also a heavy-duty, compact RV absorption refrigerator and a lot of pantry space for non-perishable food items.

There is a large, and complete bathroom in the rear of the travel trailer. It includes a flushing toilet as well as a sink and a full size shower stall.

Here again, we find a lot of storage potential in the large linen closet and the medicine cabinet.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it better to buy a new or used travel trailer.

The truth is that the current crop of new travel trailers on the market today is a little crowded with options.

Yet consumer demand for specific features like a complete bathroom, and the storage tanks to support it, as well as creature comforts like an entertainment center, powerful air conditioning or a complete kitchen all serve to drive up the prices of new model travel trailers.

In many cases, the final price tag with all the creature comforts added ends up being over $10,000.

At the same time, travel trailers tend to be a common entry-level RV for first-time buyers. Especially for small families.

Within a few years of enjoying the RV lifestyle, many families will upgrade to a larger dual-axle travel trailer, fifth-wheel camper, or motorhome. Then they RV amenities simply grow with their children.

In many of these situations, the family is happy to part with their travel trailer that might be two or three years old, for a discounted price.

Is Tax And License Fees Included In The Price?

RV dealerships and most private sellers will not include things like taxes and license fees in the initial price they offer.

So, even if the ad or the sticker says that the travel trailer is under $10,000, you might end up paying a few hundred dollars more once all the ink on the fine print dries.

Should I Rent A Travel Trailer Before Buying?

Many RV dealerships and even a few rental agencies offer travel trailers and toy haulers that you can rent for a week or more.

This is a great way to get a feel for whether or not you truly like it. You might not even have to take it on a long trip.

Perhaps a nearby campground, or letting it live in your driveway while you take the time to truly explore its features will help you determine if it’s the right travel trailer for you.

Can I Tow A Travel Trailer With A Mid-Size SUV?

A lot of the newer mid-size SUVs on the market today come with towing packages and hitches on the standard model.

However, they don’t necessarily have the towing capacity to handle something larger than a teardrop or a popup camper.

With most travel trailers you need a full-size SUV , a light-duty pickup truck, or a half-ton pickup truck to safely tow it at highway speeds .

As always, make sure to double-check the ratings, which are stamped to a metal plate in your driver’s side door well.

Do Travel Trailer’s Hold Their Value In The Long Term?

Just like a car or an SUV the minute you take it off the dealership’s lot it starts to depreciate. This can be both good and bad, depending on if you’re a buyer or a seller.

If you are interested in a travel trailer for under $10,000, a gently used model that’s only a few years old could be a great value. Especially if the seller is upgrading with their growing family.

Just double check to make sure it’s passed all the necessary inspections and keep an eye out for the telltale signs of someone who shows pride of ownership.

If you are going to invest in a pre-owned travel trailer under $10,000, you don’t want to purchase a model that someone else beat up and is just trying to unload on you.

In general a travel trailer, like a lot of RVs will depreciate around 30% in three years time. From there you can expect it to be around half of the original sticker price at about ten years of age.

Today’s travel trailer market is rife with models that are well over the $10,000 price range.

A lot of these units come with a ton of creature comforts and special features included in the standard package.

Finding the best travel trailers for under $10,000 takes a little bit of a discerning eye.

If you are looking for a great value with a full bathroom, then the 2020 Forest River Cherokee Wolf Pup 16BHS certainly deserves a good hard look.

If you have multiple children, or you like to camp with a group of your friends then you might want to move the Dutchmen Aspen Trail 1700BH up your list as it can comfortably sleep 6 to 7 people at a time.

On the other end of the spectrum, a single parent who wants to take their child on adventures in the great outdoors might prioritize the lightweight 2020 Gulf Stream Ameri-Lite 16BHC.

Whatever the size of your family, and what your specific priorities happen to be, chances are good that the best travel trailer for under $10,000 for you, is somewhere on this list.

10000 lbs travel trailer

Let’s face it. RVs can be expensive. But traveling the country and enjoying the great outdoors in something nice doesn’t have to break the bank. But even some camper trailers can be pricey. So what is the best budget travel trailer?

The best budget travel trailer is the Dutchmen Aspen Trail 2260 RBS. It is a very comfortable travel trailer and has a large cooking space, bathroom, and living space. It also has a comfortable sleeping area.

As great as this travel trailer is, it won’t be the best option for everyone. This led me to put together this list of the best 21 travel trailers under $10,000. There won’t be many new travel trailers that you can get for this price.

But it is certainly possible to find brilliant, used travel trailers in this price range .

The higher-end models of the Jayco jay flight can sleep up to 14 people, and they have a mighty 15-foot awning. That should be plenty of room for most families!

There are many models offered by Jayco. They have different floorplans and different features. The more premium models will have double sinks, entertainment centers, and outdoor kitchen areas. They will also have more spacious bathrooms.

But if you are simply looking for a simple RV trailer that will be a great first buy, this is a great option to consider.

It is one of the most popular travel trailers on the market today. The living area is quite large for such a small trailer, so if you have young kids or pets, this is great.

The tent is very easy to open up, and most people will be able to do it. Even if you are old or small, it is possible. You should not allow children to do this job though.

There is space for two beds in this travel trailer. So, if you have a small family that you are traveling with, this is a good option to consider.

However, keep in mind that this travel trailer is a tent. So, you won’t be able to use it in a place susceptible to heavy rain or wind.

If you want to upgrade to the deluxe package, the camper also comes with a refrigerator!

However, upgrading to deluxe is going to cost a lot of money, won’t it?

If you don’t want to do that, then you can check out this recent article on my site. I talk about the best portable refrigerators for your RV. It is much cheaper than paying for a built-in one, and you can use it in other vehicles like a car or boat.

Just click that link to read it on my site.

The main benefit of this RV trailer is the size. Since it is so small, you can easily store it on your driveway at home. This is an important factor to consider since you are probably not going to be traveling for most of the year.

And if you do travel a lot, then you would probably invest in a proper RV.

This camper also has a wide-opening frameless window for excellent ventilation. So, it is ideal for those hot, humid camping trips.

This trailer features large windows, a queen-sized bed, and a full kitchen. It also has a full bathroom with hot water! This is a super comfortable RV trailer, which is perfect for slightly longer excursions.

If you have a family to travel with, this is one of the best trailers you can get. It is, however, more suited for couples since there is only one bed. But if you have a small baby to look after, or if you sleep with your pets, it will be okay.

12. Oregon Trailer Do-Drop

The trailer is small, and you won’t be able to carry a large tank of freshwater. This travel trailer does not have other features like a shower.

Also, it is a little bit expensive for such a small trailer. It is possible to find similar-sized trailers for under $2,000 if you shop in the used market.

13. Riverside Retro Travel Trailer 509

For the #minimalist couple, this Retro 509 Jr. travel trailer is ideal for you! You will love how easy to tow this #Riverside #RV #model is. pic.twitter.com/9czYZQpQU5 — RV Travel World (@RVTravelWorldCA) July 21, 2017

There is also an outdoor cooking area at the back of the trailer. However, it does not have a sink or stove. You will have to use your own stove or barbeque.

This is a simple travel trailer. Traveling in it won’t be the most comfortable experience, but it does the job. It is better than a tent.

In my opinion, it is better to have a trailer that is not comfortable. That way, you are forced to get outside and have some fun!

14. Keystone Springdale 1800BH

????????SOONER FANS!!!???????? Gander RV of OKC located at I-40 and Anderson Road is having their inventory reduction sale! ????ALL 2021 MODELS MUST GO!???? As with most travel trailers, air conditioning is standard on this model. There are two stoves in the kitchen area, space for a microwave, and a mini fridge. This is a super comfortable RV trailer. I recommend this one if you are going to be traveling in cold conditions.

You may be wondering how it is possible to comfortably and safely camp in an RV over winter.

There are so many things that you need to consider, such as insulation, powering the RV, and how to stop your water pipes from freezing. In this recent article , I give you my top 21 tips for camping in an RV over winter.

Just click that link to read it on my site. Dining area, overhead cabinets, refrigerator. Toilet and shower. 3 stoves.

15. Forest River Flagstaff E-Pro E15TB

Looking for a way to break into the #RVlifestyle without upsizing your SUV? Forest River has designed a travel trailer just for you, the Flagstaff E-Pro. Thanks to tons of standard features it’s one of the most versatile travel trailers available! https://t.co/qPk2FNv4uS pic.twitter.com/InsLYsTKty — Lazydays RV – The RV Authority (@LazydaysRV) December 11, 2019

The indoor kitchen of this RV is quite nice. It has 3 stoves, a refrigerator, and a sink. There are also plenty of overhead cabinets for storage. My only gripe with the cooking space is the fact that it is right next to the toilet!

The toilet in this RV trailer is very cramped. There is a shower in this RV trailer, but there is barely space to move in there.

So, this RV was definitely made with outdoor comfort in mind.

16. Gulf Stream RV Ameri-Lite Super Lite 16BHC

2022 GULF STREAM COACH AMERI-LITE SUPER LITE 16BHC pic.twitter.com/5RtfMU7yOX — Middle Class Dad (@middleclassdad1) September 6, 2022

Inside, the trailer has an air conditioning unit for those hot days and a microwave. The cooking space is good, but the stoves are right next to the wall. So, it might be difficult to use long-handled saucepans on there.

There are two bunks in this RV trailer. The bottom bunk is right in front of a window though. So you may want to get a shade for that, otherwise, you won’t have any privacy when sleeping.

You can get a roll-down curtain that sticks to the window with suction cups. Kind of like what they use on car windows where children sit.

The best thing about this RV is the fact it has a wet bath. The bathtub is a good size, and most adults will be able to comfortably use it.

17. Dutchmen Aspen 2260 RBS Trail Travel Trailer

2022 DUTCHMEN ASPEN TRAIL 2260 RBS pic.twitter.com/yZtjEO3iIu — Middle Class Dad (@middleclassdad1) September 6, 2022

The bathroom of this travel trailer is quite large, and there is a shower unit in there. There is not a bathtub.

The dining space is square-shaped, and the table can be adjusted. This helps to save space and use the dining area as a living area too. At the back of the trailer, there is a queen bed.

The kitchen space of this RV is super clean and nice. However, for some reason, there is a lot of wasted counter space behind the sink. So, you can only use the countertop for storage really, and not cooking. That’s because the faucet and sink are in the way!

This is a great RV travel trailer to consider for your next adventure!

18. American Dream Trailer

So, if you are the type of person that likes lakeside camping trips, this might just be the RV trailer for you. This trailer is based on simplicity and escaping day-to-day life. It does not have that “home away from home” feel to it.

The interior of this travel trailer is not that comfortable, to be honest. Neither is it really practical. The reason why I have included it on this list though is because of the simplicity. Some people really like the bare minimum stuff when it comes to camping.

So, if you want to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life and paddle along lakes, this is a good option for you.

Hidden storage! 2022 Dutchmen Aspen Trail 2260RBS

There are plenty of options if you want a travel trailer under $10,000. If you want a more premium or larger travel trailer, you may need to shop in the used market to find an affordable model.

If you are going to be going on short trips, alone or as a couple, then a teardrop trailer would be great. These trailers are small, lightweight, and simple. They are very affordable too.

If you are an infrequent traveler, a trailer with a tent would be good. This is because they are small, lightweight, and easy to store. They are more affordable than other models too.

For people that want a solid RV travel trailer, you will be looking for an RV with an aluminum frame. If you can, get one with fiberglass siding, since it will be more durable.

10000 lbs travel trailer

  • Dry Weight: 2,405 lbs.

We love the style and finishes of the Jayco Jay Flight SLX Travel Trailer! Jayco is a leading manufacturer of travel trailers, and they know how to design a floor plan to maximize living space. This model is an excellent example of that. In the front of the travel trailer, you will find a large dinette, the largest we have seen in this size camper, that converts to a bed. There is also an additional couch that converts to a bed, allowing three people to sleep comfortably in this camper.

The interior kitchen in the Jay Flight has a fridge, microwave, two-burner stove, and storage. Perhaps our favorite feature of this camper is the large front window over the bed and dinette. The window opens up the camper and makes the smaller floor plan seem more spacious.

Most Jayco camping trailers also include a Torflex independent torsion axl e  suspension, E-Z Lube axles and the patented lifter system which is fully enclosed and protects against rust and road debris.

Along with a full bathroom, the camper also has a full wardrobe closet, a rare find in any travel trailer, let along one of this size! A standard awning and large tanks make this camper an excellent choice for anyone planning to take extended camping trips or weekend getaways. If you are looking for a lot of storage or seating in your travel trailer, this is an excellent choice.

Not one of these trailers is under $10000. Maybe update the blog…

Hmmmm….well I looked on RVTrader and found that two of the first three are under $10,000…And the one that isn’t is only $1000 over. Assuming no one would ever pay full price for an RV so I am very certain you could buy this trailer for under $10,000 too… I’m confused by your comment? Are you looking at MSRP Prices on the manufacturer websites maybe? Don’t ever pay MSRP if you are.

Best of luck,

One is $2000 over $10,000 but otherwise you are correct! (11,195 is 12,000).

10 Best Lightweight Travel Trailers For 2023

  • Bruce Smith
  • November 2, 2022

Table of Contents

The Rove Lite small travel trailer. (Image: travelliterv.com)[/caption]

Consider the GVWR (not the UVW)

Many RV manufacturers tout the UVW (unloaded vehicle weight) of their trailers. But adding cargo like fresh water, propane tank(s), food, clothing, bicycles, and other camping equipment to the trailer can add hundreds of pounds to that UVW number.

GVWR is the weight to know when buying a trailer for a lightweight truck or passenger car tow vehicle.

Knowing the GVWR of small campers is the key to safe towing on road or while off-the-grid camping. Now, let’s dive into our list of the best lightweight travel trailers for 2023.

The 10 Best Lightweight Travel Trailers (Under 6,000 Pounds GVWR)

Our top small travel trailers for 2023 are listed in order by cost in US dollars, from least expensive to most expensive.

I am curious why Safari Condo missed the review again. We have had a F1743 for 5 years and love it. https://safaricondo.com/en/caravanes-alto-serie-f-1743/

How are Trailmanors not on your list? Super lightweight, all hard sided, more space in living, bath, and sleeping that any of these campers! https://trailmanor.com/

Is there a problem with mentioning American trailers like Casita, Scamp, Oliver, etc ?

I was wondering the same thing.

When do you ever see these manufacturers on these kinds of lists?

Guess I’ll need to trade in my 5,000 lb. GVWR Airstream.

Left out the TAB! which is one of the small trailers with a full bath!

Best Small Travel Trailers for Full-Time Living for a Single Person or Couples

  • Terra Rover Travel Trailer by inTech: Best Small Camper to Live in 4-Season
  • Alta LE 1600MRB: Small Travel Trailer by East and West RV

Terra Rover 4-Season Travel Trailer for Full-Time Living

inTech Terra Rover Travel Trailer, available in the USA and Canada, is a lightweight fantastic trailer for single people and couples pursuing full-time camper living during the 4-seasons.

The main difference between Terra Rover and the rest of the travel trailers suggested in this article is the structure, materials, exquisite interior design, and how well-prepared this travel trailer is for a 4-season full-time living.

Buying a four-season-ready RV for full-time living offers numerous advantages, such as making it possible (and easy) to live safely and comfortably during severe weather. Foremost, it reduces energy consumption and provides cost-effective insulation. Also, it offers flexible living arrangements and the freedom to move and explore different places; because one may live off-grid and reduce dependency on outside resources, it fosters a sense of self-sufficiency and self-reliance. Last but not least, it provides a distinctive and exciting living experience, with chances to explore nature and lead a more eco-friendly and sustainable existence. Definitely, Terra Rover Tby inTech is one of the best campers to live in cold weather .

Even though this travel trailer is meant for 4 people, I would recommend the inTech Rover as one of the best travel trailers for single people or couples for full-time living and establishing their workstation in the front 93″ x 48″ dinette.

Terra Rover 4-Season Travel Trailer for Full-Time Living

Unlike most RVs, the Terra Rover features a bathroom and shower in separate cubicles with its own ventilation. With no slides-out, it’s spacious enough for 1 or 2 people and even the company of your four-legged friend. And at the same time, the dinette can easily be converted into a guest room. With an indoor and outdoor kitchen, it allows you to enjoy your meals and cook in comfort.

Good materials and furniture finishes. Excellent quality and customer service. Lightweight (GVWR 7,500 lbs.) and durable due to the structure and high-quality materials used.

fiberglass Travel Trailer review canada 2023

The capacity of the tanks is adequate for the number of people proposed in this review (fresh water tank of 44 gallons, gray water tank of 39 gallons, black water tank of 39 gallons).

Another advantage that allows full-time living independent of external temperature is that it has a furnace, air-conditioning, water heater, heated underbelly, etc. You get into a Terra Rover and never get out again! Here are some details of the specifications, furnace of 25K BTU, A/C of 15K BTU ducted, water heater of 6 gallons (electric or gas), insulation bubble foil in walls and ceiling, tank insulation heated underbelly, 12v line heaters, tank heat pads, etc.

As if that wasn’t enough, you enjoy a genuine 60″ x 80″ queen size bed in the bedroom, with storage space.

If all this hasn’t convinced you or if this RV brand is new to you, I recommend you watch this video to learn more about the Rover Terra travel trailer by inTech and its possibilities as a 4-season trailer for full-time living.

Terra Rover Travel Trailer video

The only disadvantage I will mention, but I must clarify that it is not necessarily a disadvantage for all RVers who plan to live full time in a camper, is that it is unprepared for a washer and dryer. You will hardly find available space on the floor plan for its installation.

Alta 1600MRB Small Camper to Live In for Singles and Couples

Alta LE 1600MRB by East to West RV is one of the best campers to live in . It is an excellent option for a full-time living travel trailer for a single person or couples looking to work remotely, as the booth dinette offers a great working space area for 2 people with laptops.

As you can see in the floor plan below, this Alta LE 1600MRB Travel Trailer has the propane low-pressure quick connection available for your outside grill to prepare your meals outside under a 14 ft powered awning with LED lights. The exterior also has massive pass-thru storage compartments, a ladder in the back to access the trailer roof, and a shower with hot and cold water.

Small Travel Trailer for Full-Time Living for a Single Person and Couples

At the left of the entry door, you will find a large booth dinette with space to store under the seats and prepared for an optional 32” Smart LED TV. Across from there is a fully kitchen-equipped area with a 3-burner top stove, a large kitchen sink, a microwave oven, a refrigerator, and drawers and cabinets.

The rear full dry bath is opposite the front Queen-size Murphy bed and sofa. The full bath is dry and includes a hand basin, a foot flushable toilet, skylights and vent, a linen closet, and a shower with skylight.

Between wardrobes, cabinets, the exterior storage compartment, and the large dinette, this travel trailer, only 23 feet in length and under 6,000 pounds, offers plenty of space and is perfect for full-time living for a single person or couples.

To enjoy the outside, there is a large awning (21′) and a deluxe outdoor kitchen equipped with a griddle, sink, mini refrigerator, and low-pressure quick hookups. A large pass-through exterior storage compartment will help you keep the inside of your trailer tidy. Also, it is equipped with a functional outside shower.

Moreover, the Reflection series is prepared for full-time living during the 4-season. Some of the features in the winterization package of this 4-season travel trailer include the heated and enclosed dump valves and the underbelly with recirculating heat, both of them recommended to face extreme temperatures. Additionally, the insulated walls and slide-out floors, the thermo-foil insulation under holding tanks, and the EZ winterization valve will help you to preserve the RV energy expended in heating the trailer. Furthermore, the furnace and the fireplace are good features. Exactly what a family needs to live full-time.

As soon as you cross the entry door, you will find the fantastic full-dry bathroom of this trailer . The bathroom includes a large medicine cabinet with a mirror, a large vanity top with a deep hand sink, a porcelain foot-flushable toilet, and a spacious 30” x 36” shower with a sliding glass door and expansive view skylight over the shower, and a vent fan.

The queen mattress is 60” x 80” with a residential bedspread and includes oversized bed base storage. This room is set up to accommodate a TV on the wall-mounted TV provided.

As you go through this RV, it is easy to understand why we propose the Reflection 312BHTS as one of the best travel trailers for full-time living.

Using only beds and bunks, the sleeping capacity of this trailer is up to 4 people. Depending on your options, you may fold down sofas and the dinette, increasing the sleeping space up to 7-8 people when receiving visitors.

At the left of the entry door, you will find the first of the 3 slides out and one of the biggest living rooms with a fireplace and kitchen you may find in a travel trailer. Atypical for a travel trailer, this floor plan seems like a fifth-wheel trailer from the inside.

The slide-out closer to the entry door proposes locating a booth dinette and a theatre seating. An optional free-standing dinette and a tri-fold sofa could replace the section.

The nice island kitchen improves the space to prep gourmet meals and serves to connect a fully equipped slide-out kitchen with residential appliances, moving you around the entertainment center.

Finally, at the rear of this family bunk travel trailer is located in the private second bedroom. The rear bunk room for 4 people with two bunk beds, a tri-fold sofa, an entertainment center, drawers, and a wardrobe closet is perfect for families pursuing full-time camper living.

What Travel Trailers to Avoid for Full-Time Living and Why

Here are the campers to avoid for live in full-time.

Alpha Wolf Floor plans are not recommended for full-time living but are great for traveling.

Although the Cherokee Alpha Wolf line offers excellent value for the price, they are spacious, well-finished, and often our recommended floor plans. In this case, we believe they are not the Forest River floor plans we would recommend for families with children who choose to live full-time in a travel trailer.

Certain features are recommended for full-time living in a travel trailer; an entertainment center in the bunkhouse is essential and gives parents significant advantages in separating activities and privacy. Also, we mentioned earlier how important it is for the booth dinette to provide the right size for the number of people in the RV.

For example, the 2023 Cherokee Alpha Wolf 30RDB-L has two bunk beds in a bunk room. However, no entertainment center is located inside the bunk room. The Alpha Wolf 30DBH-L has the same issue. So, you will need to jump to the floor plan of Alpha Wolf 33BH-L, which includes the entertainment center appreciated when living full-time in a travel trailer with kids. However, in this model, the dinette is short-sized for only four people.

Don’t get me wrong. Alpha Wolf travel trailers are great for vacation. They are a good choice in other circumstances but not recommended for full-time living.

According to owners, Winnebago Travel Trailers are not recommended for full-time living.

It is expensive, common, and without any of the features necessary for comfortable RV living. Many RVers may have decided on this camper to establish their full-time lifestyle. But if you have the budget, go for other models and floor plans that offer what will be a priority for camper living.

Airstream Travel Trailers: Lack of Comfort for Families

Users after RV renting manifest Airstream Travel Trailers are too expensive without any comfort for a family. You pay for excellent design (if you like something super retro) and the publicity Airstream spends to appear in Hollywood in every movie they can. But you don’t pay for comfort, versatility, and high quality of life. It makes sense because they are not designed for full-time living.

We recently had our chance to rent an Airstream Classic 33FB for a week, a very long 33+ feet and a heavy 10,000 pounds.  Even for a couple like us, with no grandchildren to accompany us on this occasion, both of us working sporadically on our laptops, the cramped interior was tedious. It is impossible to prepare anything other than a simple meal because the lack of space is appalling. The absence of slides-out worsens the circulation, and we are lucky to be slim. Otherwise, using the shower or even sharing the circulation in a corridor is complicated.

How expensive? For 2023, the Airstream Classic 33FB has a starting price of $206,500, and the International 30RB is $137,400, Flying Cloud® 30FB Bunk, suitable for a family with kids, has a starting price of $124,500.

Possible RV Brands to Avoid for Not a Great Customer Service

Chinook RV and Gulf Stream’s top the list of worst customer services in RVers’ forum surveys.

However, any company can change and improve in this area. A couple of years ago, Keystone RV did not offer good customer service. However, they changed radically, and today are one of the best companies with plenty of floor plans to recommend.

We hope you find this article reviewing the 12 Best Travel Trailers for Full-Time Living handy to learn more about the critical decision you are about to take.

10 Amazing 5th Wheels Under 10,000 Pounds

5th Wheels Under 10,000 Lbs

One of the most spacious and luxurious RV Classes on the road today is the 5th-wheel camper , which often feels more like a home than an RV on the inside.

However, one of the biggest drawbacks of the 5th wheel is its heavy weight, which often requires a ¾-ton or 1-ton truck to tow.

In recent years though RV manufacturers have started producing fifth wheels under 10,000 pounds, and even some that can be towed by heavy-duty ½-ton trucks, such as the Ford F150 or the RAM 1500 .

So to highlight some of the best lightweight 5th wheels currently on the road, we created this list of the 10 best 5th wheels under 10,000 pounds .

Before we get started though, it’s important that we discuss trailer weight and the different types of 5th wheel weights first, so that everyone is on the same page.

Understanding 5th Wheel Trailer Weight

When it comes to 5th wheel trailer weight, there are three main weights to be aware of when looking at fifth wheels, including dry weight, hitch weight, and gross vehicle weight rating.

Dry Weight – The dry weight of a 5th wheel is the weight of the camper without any cargo, water, propane, or batteries loaded into the trailer.  Basically, it’s the empty weight of the trailer as it came from the manufacturer.

Hitch Weight – The hitch weight on a 5th wheel is the amount of weight loaded onto the bed of the truck from the 5th wheel’s hitch.

Gross Vehicle Weight Rating – The gross vehicle weight rating for a 5th wheel is the max weight the trailer is rated for by the manufacturer, which includes both the weight of the trailer and the weight of any cargo.

The Weight We Used for this List

When picking RVs for this list, we focused on 5th wheels that had a gross vehicle weight rating of either under or close to 10,000 pounds.

As the gross vehicle weight rating of a 5th wheel provides a more accurate representation of the true weight of the camper.

Compared to say the dry weight, which only takes into account the weight of the 5th wheel by itself.

As no RVer tows a completely empty fifth wheel behind them when they’re going camping.

This is every Pickup Truck You Can Buy to Tow Over 10,000 Pounds

This is every Pickup Truck You Can Buy to Tow Over 10,000 Pounds

I get commissions for purchases made through links in this post.

Towing a trailer has never been more divisive! With this most recent update to this article, I have had to add several electric pickup trucks to the list, as their instant torque allows for some impressive feats of towing capabilities. However, this also begs the question, will their range drop too low to be a competent towing rig? Regardless, they have earned their spot on this list.

While lighter trucks and SUVs can tow many different types of trailers with no problem at all, once you get to a trailer like a loaded car trailer, larger boat, travel trailer, and more, you have to start thinking about an bigger pickup truck that can handle over 10,000 pounds (generally the starting point of larger trailers).

With that said, This is the ultimate list of every pickup truck with a tow rating of over 10,000 pounds to help you out (sorted from lowest to most capable).

Quick Note: Some of the trucks may require an upgraded engine or transmission to achieve this higher rating! Just make sure you choose the right truck for the job when looking to make your purchase.

1. Ford F-150 Lightning

2. rivian r1t, 3. tesla cybertruck, 4. nissan titan, 5. toyota tundra, 6. ram 1500, 7. chevy silverado 1500, 8. gmc sierra, 9. ford f-150, 10. ram 2500, 11. gmc sierra 2500hd, 12. chevrolet silverado 2500 hd, 13. ford super duty f-250, 14. chevy silverado 3500 hd, 15. gmc sierra 3500 hd, 16. ram 3500 heavy duty, 17. ford super duty f-350.

  • Towing Capacity: 10,000 pounds (up to)

10000 lbs travel trailer

The F-150 Lightning is an impressive pickup truck! I have had a chance to drive the highest-end version (the Platinum), which is truly a blast. It is quick, with a 0-60 of 3.8 seconds, and is incredibly luxurious. It also boasts a towing capacity of 10,000 pounds, making it the first truck on this list to reach that milestone.

That said, it has been found that towing with this EV dramatically reduces the range of the truck’s battery, and recharging the vehicle is a challenge with a trailer on the back.

  • Horsepower: 600 - 835
  • Torque: 600 - 908
  • GVWR: 8,532
  • MSRP: $67,500
  • Range: 314 Miles (505 km)
  • 0 - 60: 3 seconds
  • Towing Capacity: 11,000 pounds (up to)

10000 lbs travel trailer

While the F-150 Lightning may be positioned as a work-horse pickup, the Rivian R1T is more of a “lifestyle pickup.” That said, it also doesn’t stop it from being incredibly capable. Its suspension can give you 7.9″ of ground clearance for easy loading up to 14.4 inches for off-roading. Top that with a zero-to-sixty of 3 seconds, and you have a truck that can do it all.

The Rivian R1T has an impressive tow rating of 11,000 pounds, quickly earning a spot on this list. While I may not need that tow rating, it should also be mentioned that this truck is my favorite electric vehicle with a bed on the back. It’s capable, a smaller truck, and its tech is some of the best.

10000 lbs travel trailer

The Tesla Cybertruck is just now hitting the streets at the time of writing, so only a little can be said of its overall capabilities. However, with four years of delays, it will hold up to at least some of its promises. Regardless, this is a stainless steel, a capable pickup truck that takes a very different direction than any other on this list. It has retractable tonneau covers and up to 600, making it slouch on the drag strip.

This strange-looking pickup truck also boasts an 11,000-pound tow rating – identical to the Rivian R1T. That said, with the car being so new, no one has entirely tested it thoroughly to see how true that is and how much it affects the range of the battery pack.

  • Towing Capacity: 11,033 pounds (up to)
  • Gas Mileage: 15.4 MPG Combined

10000 lbs travel trailer

The Titan is Nissan’s largest pickup truck in their lineup. Its capability sits between a medium-duty and a heavy-duty pickup and offers excellent value for those who don’t have to have the more commonly known brand names on the market.

You will need the Titan XD Crew Cab to weigh over 10,000 pounds, as the standard Titan King Cab and Crew Cab can only weigh up to 9,323 pounds. The maximum towing capacity of the Titan XD Crew Cab is 11,033 pounds when equipped with the right package. So if you need a truck that can tow heavier loads, this one could be for you.

  • Horsepower: 358 - 389
  • Torque: 406 - 479
  • GVWR: 6,990 - 7,375
  • MSRP: $37,865 - $76,145
  • 0 - 60: 5.7 - 7.4 seconds
  • Towing Capacity: 12,000 pounds (up to)

Known for its reliability, the Toyota Tundra has recently been completely revamped with a turbo-charged V6, and the goal is to continue that reliability trend. With a new, sporty, futuristic design, the Tundra is an excellent option for those planning to keep their truck for decades.

The Toyota Tundra may be a 1500 series pickup truck, but no matter what option you choose (there is only one engine option), you know that you can easily tow over 10,000 pounds. That said, the maximum tow capacity for the Tundra is 11,175 pounds, so you might have to look elsewhere if you need something with more muscle.

The RAM 1500 is the sophisticated option of the 1500 series pickup truck wars. With a more refined appearance than the competitors and an array of engine options, this truck is tough to beat in value and appearance.

The only engine option that cannot tow over the 10,000-pound mark with the RAM 1500 is the 3.6L V6 engine option. While it is a fantastic all-around engine, it doesn’t get enough power to pull larger trailers. The 3.0L Ecodiesel, 5.7L Hemi (including torque), and 6.2L Hemi can tow well over the ten thousand pounds you are looking for.

The Chevrolet Silverado has undergone many iterations; the current generation is the sportiest yet. With a controversial grill and a newly updated interior, this truck is a strong contender in the pickup market.

When it comes to towing capacity, the Silverado 1500 is no slouch. Whether you opt for the 6.2L or 5.3L engine, you can easily tow over 10,000 pounds. That means you can take your boat out on the lake or haul a camper down the highway without any problems. That said, if you are looking at either the 4.3L or 2.7L engine for your truck, you might need more time, as they can only hold 7,900 and 6,800 pounds, respectively.

As the corporate twin to the Silverado 1500, the GMC Sierra 1500 is the more upscale version of the truck. Standard with the Multi-Pro tailgate and a much more excellent interior, the Sierra 1500 is worth cross-shopping from any other truck in its class.

If you want to tow over 10,000 pounds with your new GMC Sierra 1500, ensure you have the DFM 5.3L engine or the 6.2L V8 in your truck, as those are the only ones that can get you to the 10,000-pound limit. The 4.3L, AFM 5.3L, and diesel 3.0L are all under this limit (if only a little).

This pickup needs no introduction; it is the best-sold vehicle stateside for a good reason. The newest generation brings features like seats that lay back, an onboard generator, and many other stand-out features that make it an awesome truck.

The only engine option from the F-150 range that cannot tow over 10,000 pounds is the 3.3L V6 engine. Outside of that, you can be confident that your truck can pull easily over this limit and even up to 14,000 pounds with the 3.5L Ecoboost option. You might have to opt for the Super Duty ranges if you need over 14,000 pounds.

As the larger version of the RAM 1500, the RAM 2500 offers tons of capability in a sleek and refined truck. It has plenty of engine options and lots of towing and payload capacity. If you want a great work truck with a sporty appearance, the RAM 2500 should be on your shortlist.

The RAM 2500 is the entrant into a heavy-duty truck from RAM, and with that comes plenty of towing power. Choose whatever configuration you want from their program, and you won’t have to worry about pulling around your 10,000-pound trailer.

The GMC Sierra 2500 (especially the Denali) will be a great option if you are searching for a large, luxurious, heavy-duty pickup truck. It matches capability with luxury in a way that no other pickup truck in its class can reach.

As it is based on the same platform as the Silverado 2500, this truck can tow over 10,000 pounds with all engine options and configurations. Build your vehicle to your heart’s content!

The Silverado 2500 is built on a completely different platform from the 1500 and is meant more for work than play and general transportation. While it may not be able to tow quite as much as the Silverado 3500, it is genuinely meant for work… even if that differs from what everyone uses it for.

Every engine and application for the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 can handle over 10,000 pounds. Considering this truck was built for hauling and towing, this is no surprise. You can choose the 6.6L gas engine or the diesel 6.6L to haul your trailers.

  • Gas Mileage: 13.7 mpg Combined

If you need more than an F-150, you can jump up to the Super Duty lineup of pickups from Ford. This truck is meant to tow and work hard. It also has plenty of creature comforts to make it worth its hefty price tag.

What would an F-250 be without its towing power? This truck can tow over 10,000 and over 15,000 pounds at its lowest level.

  • Towing Capacity: 36,000 pounds (up to)

This is the largest and most capable Chevrolet Silverado on the market today. It also maxes out the towing and payload capacity for GM products, making it the best pickup for people who work on job sites.

Much like the 2500 Silverado, the 3500 can haul well over the 10,000-pound mark with the same engines as the 2500. That said, with beefed-up components, it can even tow over 30,000 pounds with ease as well.

This is the most largest pickup truck that GMC has to offer, and it is impressive. If you are looking for a luxurious work truck from GM, the GMC Sierra 3500 is the one to get. With one of the best towing and payload capacities on the market, it matches its luxury with capability.

Tow in luxury, as the GMC Sierra 3500 can tow well over 10,000 pounds with no problem whatsoever. You can choose from any engine, transmission, or trim level without sweating.

Yep! Every engine and transmission option on the F-350 will get you to your 10,000-pound mark. It also is leading the pack at being able to tow up to 37,000 pounds if you need it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What trucks can tow 30,000 pounds.

You might be surprised that many big-name manufacturers offer pickup trucks that can tow over 30,000 pounds. The Ford F-350, RAM 3500, and the Silverado 3500HD can all tow over this limit if adequately equipped.

What can you tow with a 10,000-pound tow capacity?

Quite a few things that weigh over 10,000 pounds need to be towed. Some good examples are larger campers, horse trailers, construction trailers, and many other things like this.

How much weight can you pull with a 1500 truck?

The most capable 1500 series pickup is the F-150, which maxes out at 14,000 pounds of weight. That said, many of the other 1500 series trucks can handle around 11,000 – 12,000 pounds, depending on your vehicle options.

What happens if I tow too much weight?

Towing too much weight can cause your vehicle to become unstable or unsafe on the road. It also significantly strains your engine, transmission, brakes, and other components. This could lead to premature wear and tear and possible breakdowns when you least expect it. Therefore, you must select the right truck for your needs and research your model’s weight limit before you start towing heavy loads.

Does towing shorten the life of a vehicle?

Towing can hurt the lifespan of your vehicle if you don’t take the proper precautions. Be sure to always read up on towing procedures, inspect all of your equipment before each tow, and regularly service your engine and other components. Taking these steps can help extend the life of your vehicle and ensure that it can handle all of your towing needs.

Having the right truck for your needs is so important! If you find down the road that you have an expensive truck that isn’t capable enough to tow your trailers, you will have to sell and re-buy a car that can, costing you time and money.

2025 RAM 1500 REV - Maximum Towing Capacity: 14,000 lbs

At 654 hp, the RAM 1500 REV ranks in the bottom half of this list for total power output. But it leads the pack in towing capacity by a solid ton and payload capacity by a couple of hundred pounds. At the moment, we only have the automaker's claims to go on, as we've yet to witness a real-life test of the RAM's capabilities. But, knowing what the other EVs on this list are capable of, a seven-ton towing capacity doesn't seem as preposterous as it might have been a couple of years ago.

Is The Future Of Electrified Pickup Trucks Hydrogen Or Range Extenders?

These two methods hold the key to how electric pickups can become a viable alternative to gas-powered models.

All of that being said, the Cybertruck illustrates that it's a lot easier for an electric pickup to report an impressive towing capacity than it is to make sure it can put that towing capacity to use. If you're using your REV to pull a travel trailer cross-country, and you have to stop for a charge every hour or two, that's not exactly the adventure you'd signed up for. It remains to be seen to what extent the REV's 14,000-lb towing capacity can be put to practical use.

How Much Every Current And Upcoming Electric Pickup Truck Can Tow

The most luxurious full-size pickup trucks on the market

Trucks are long past functioning as mere workhorses, utilitarian brutes you’d only want to drive or live with if your days are spent dragging huge trailers or hauling stuff in the pickup bed. These days, full-size truck buyers needn’t choose between capability, a commanding view of the road and luxury-car-grade accommodations.

Sure, the most luxurious versions of the trucks sold today give up some ultimate capability to more modestly equipped rigs — after all, adding panoramic sunroofs, adjustable suspensions and other niceties cuts into payload and towing maximums, which are calculated off a truck’s GVWR — but the average half-ton truck of today can easily out-muscle yesterday’s three-quarter-ton pickups. Go ahead, spring for that luxurious pickup — if you can afford it. Even mainstream full-size trucks today carry luxury car price tags; opting for the best truck from each manufacturer? That’ll cost you truly big bucks. If you have the means, here are the nicest, must luxurious full-size, half-ton trucks sold by every player in the game:

  • 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Country

Within the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 lineup , the High Country isn’t the most expensive truck you can drive away from a bow-tie dealership, but it’s a close second behind the off-road-focused ZR2. The High Country is, of course, the most overtly luxurious Silverado, trading the ZR2’s hardcore hardware for cowboy Cadillac finery.

Chevrolet has morphed the High Country’s more street-focused flashiness from standard fare to optional goods, meaning out of the box, the truck gets more rugged-looking 20-inch wheels and beefier tires than it used to. The 22-inch rollers sold with previous High Country models are still available as part of the truck’s Premium packages, however. Chevy also has democratized the High Country’s engine choices, making it so you can pick from the 1500 lineup’s 5.3-liter V-8 and 3.0-liter turbodiesel I-6 in addition to the mightiest 420-hp 6.2-liter V-8. Pricing starts at the lowest amount of any truck on this list, though partly that’s because so much is optional (where most of the other trucks are mono-spec, fully loaded rigs), at just $68,195; but go ham with those options and more powerful engine choices, and you can quickly spin the High Country’s MSRP into, well, higher country.

  • Price: $68,195
  • Engines: 5.3L 355-hp/383 lb-ft V-8; 6.2L 420-hp/460 lb-ft V-8; 3.0L 305-hp/495 lb-ft turbodiesel I-6
  • Max towing capacity: 9,500 lb

2024 pickup trucks: The most fuel-efficient new models so far

  • 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV First Edition RST

If your head is stuck in the early 2000s, then wheel size is as much a factor in a truck’s bling factor as its price tag, and by that measure, the Silverado EV First Edition RST is definitely a luxury item: Its wheels are a massive 24 inches in diameter. We’re leaning on this unconventional metric of luxury because, well, other than those rims and the all-electric Chevy’s launch edition pricing ($96,495!), not much else about the truck is overtly luxurious. It’s simply the most expensive way to buy a new Silverado EV.

Take the cabin, for example, which has huge, crisp displays, a panoramic sunroof and GM’s Super Cruise hands-free driving assistant included — but also plenty of hard plastics and vinyl seats. As we found in our first drive of the electric Chevy pickup, the cabin isn’t quite a highlight. But anyone can appreciate the clever midgate, which has been remastered here since dying with the Chevrolet Avalanche pickup years ago; it allows you to fold down the wall between the pickup bed and the interior, opening up an even longer cargo floor atop the folded seatbacks. And with 440 miles of range, the First Edition RST goes farther than any other electric pickup offered today (besides, of course, the mechanically similar GMC Sierra EV). In the world of EVs, range is luxury, and the Chevy has plenty of it.

  • Price: $96,495
  • Motors: 1 front permanent-magnet electric motor, 1 rear permanent-magnet electric motor; 754-hp/785 lb-ft comb
  • Max towing capacity: 10,000 lb
  • 2024 Ford F-150 Platinum and King Ranch

Here’s a humdinger of a question: Which Ford F-150 is the priciest (outside of the supercharged, off-road-trophy-truck-wannabe F-150 Raptor R )? If you guessed the King Ranch, you’re correct. If you guessed the Platinum, you’re also correct. The two luxurious trucks start at the exact same $75,840. Consider them two versions of the same theme, with the King Ranch’s leather-lined interior getting a more traditional, vaguely western-themed luxury vibe with earthier tones and the Platinum going with a sleeker, more urban take with cooler, more modern colorways.

Both trucks get Ford’s Multicontour power front seats with myriad adjustments and massage functions, heating and ventilation. The second-row seats also are heated, and new-for-2024 is the Pro Access tailgate with its swing-down center section. Special 20-inch wheels are part of the kit on both, too, as is Ford’s 400-hp, 510 lb-ft twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 engine. Buyers can upgrade to the PowerBoost Hybrid version of the same engine, which brings 430 hp and 570 lb-ft of torque. Unlike some of the other trucks on this list that take an everything-and-the-kitchen-sink approach, the priciest Fords still offer a few option packages, giving buyers some leeway in customizing the equipment onboard, at least on the Platinum. Those packages are pricey, however, and range from $6,540 to $11,475. Ditto the BlueCruise hands-free driving assistant, which runs $2,100.

  • Price: $75,840
  • Engines: 3.5L 400-hp/510 lb-ft twin-turbo V-6; 3.5L 430-hp/510 lb-ft twin-turbo hybrid V-6
  • Max towing capacity: 10,800 lb
  • 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning Platinum

If the Platinum variant stands atop the F-150 lineup, it stands to reason the Platinum would also crown the all-electric F-150 Lightning family , too. So it does. The Lightning Platinum gets the same dual-motor setup as lesser Lightnings, but with the biggest available Extended Range battery pack; the combo is good for 580 hp and 775 lb-ft of torque, along with 300 miles of EPA-estimated range.

Where the Platinum separates itself from lesser Lightnings is, of course, mostly inside its plush cabin. A standard 18-speaker B&O audio system, the Lightning’s largest 15.5-inch central touchscreen, Multicontour Nirvana power seats, and Ford’s BlueCruise hands-free driving assistant up the Platinum’s game over regular Lightnings. Externally, a set of flashy 22-inch wheels and a panoramic sunroof are the biggest giveaways that this is the $93,990 Lightning Platinum (at least, before applicable EV tax credits cut $7,500 off that price tag).

  • Price: $93,990
  • Motors: 1 front permanent-magnet electric motor, 1 rear permanent-magnet electric motor; 580-hp/775 lb-ft comb
  • Max towing capacity: 8,500 lb

2024 GMC Hummer EV 3X

GMC’s rollout of the resurrected Hummer sub-brand has been a little hard to follow, with the first electric Hummer technically arriving as a 2022 model-year offering. That EV pickup came only in 1,000-hp, tri-motor First Edition guise . Fast forward to today, and more of the lineup has emerged, with the current top of the heap being the 2024 GMC Hummer EV Pickup 3X variant . The 3X shares its three-motor layout with the First Edition, as well as its 1,000 hp maximum output; air suspension; four-wheel steering; and goofy Watts to Freedom (WTF) drive mode. Buyers can also upgrade from the $106,945 3X to a limited-production Omega Limited Edition for an extra $43,350.

While the Hummer might not smack of “luxury” at first glance, you must zoom out a little to see its schtick. This was, at least before Tesla’s Cybertruck arrived, the zaniest truck out there, with its ability to crab walk sideways, shoot away from a stop in spite of its massive 9,000-pound curb weight, and available removable roof panels that make it, yes, a sort of targa-topped truck. There are so many widgets, features and surprises within — and the pricing is so dear — it can’t be viewed as anything other than a luxury item.

  • Price: $106,295
  • Motors: 1 front permanent-magnet electric motor, 2 permanent-magnet rear electric motors; 1000-hp/1,200 lb-ft comb
  • Max towing capacity: 12,000 lb
  • 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate

Wait, isn’t “Denali” the nicest version of a given GMC you can buy? It was, until the Denali Ultimate trim level arrived for 2022 on the Sierra 1500 pickup . This new trim level includes everything — and we mean everything — offered on the Denali, except the Denali’s lower-output 5.3-liter V-8 option. That leaves buyers with the choice of GM’s smooth and efficient 3.0-liter turbodiesel I-6 or a 420-hp 6.2-liter V-8 (for an additional $1,005), and their desired paint color.

Inside, the Ultimate gets the same unique dashboard as the regular Denali , with air vents across the top of (not flanking, as on lesser Sierras) a central 13.4-inch touchscreen with Google Built-In assistant and mapping. Alpine Umber leather slathers the seats and armrests, and wood trim adorns the dash. There is a power sunroof, head-up display, Bose audio system, power-folding steps and 22-inch wheels. Prices start at $83,495.

  • Price: $83,495
  • Engines: 6.2L 420-hp/460 lb-ft V-8; 3.0L 305-hp/495 lb-ft turbodiesel I-6
  • Max towing capacity: 8,900 lb
  • 2024 GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1

The new GMC Sierra EV is coming, and though it shares its Ultium electric platform and batteries with the Hummer EV Pickup, it’s all packaged in a much more conventional truck form. Oh, and with only two electric motors, the first-out-of-the-gate Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 will deliver “only” 754 hp and 785 lb-ft of torque — far less than the 1,000-hp Hummer. That said, it’s claimed to return 440 miles (!) of driving range, a huge figure among today’s electric trucks.

With “Denali” in its name, you can probably guess that the Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 is nicer than your average Sierra EV. There's an appropriate amount of digital real estate, some dark wood-like trim, a massive panoramic sunroof and a Bose audio system. Like its Silverado EV sibling, the Sierra EV’s cabin isn’t as overtly “nice” as the internal-combustion Sierra 1500’s, but the luxuries are as much embedded in the hardware as in the stuff you see and touch — remember that huge range figure? That should ensure the GMC can not only go far per charge, but possibly go farther per charge than other electric trucks when towing or hauling, activities we’ve found seriously dent the range of other rigs. Should that occur here, the Sierra’s starting with a much higher number…

2024 Nissan Titan XD Platinum Reserve

Nissan’s Titan might seem like a forgotten member of the full-size pickup tribe, and, well, it kind of is. It’s far less visible than even Toyota’s Tundra, itself another truck caught on the outside looking in on its domestic competitors from Detroit’s Big Three. But the Titan’s still here, and even in its priciest form — the beefier XD model in Platinum Reserve trim — it costs way less than nearly everything else on this list, at a mere $68,770.

Where the other truckmakers’ nicest models come essentially one way (loaded), the XD Platinum Reserve offers buyers a few choices, namely a panoramic sunroof ($1,490) and a Utility package ($1,390). But even opting for those extras, you’ll still pay nearly the lowest amount of any truck in this roundup. The overall upgrades are fairly tame, mostly consisting of quilted leather, heated seats, special 20-inch wheels and chrome and brushed metal exterior trim.

  • Price: $68,770
  • Engine: 5.6L 400-hp/413 lb-ft V-8
  • Max towing capacity: 9,650 lb

New pickup truck models: These are the best small and midsize for 2024

  • 2025 Ram 1500 Tungsten

New for 2025 and joining a refreshed Ram 1500 lineup , the Tungsten trim leapfrogs last year’s Limited Longhorn to become the half-ton Ram’s snootiest setup. It not only lands the 2025 1500’s optional twin-turbo Hurricane I-6 “H.O.” (high output) engine with 540 hp and 521 lb-ft of torque as standard, but also gets an exclusive body-color and fully integrated front bumper (note how the nose resembles that of a full-size SUV, not a traditional truck with its separate metal bumper), 22-inch polished wheels, acoustic front door glass, a power tailgate, power folding running boards, a tonneau cover and RamBox cargo bins in the bed.

The Ram 1500 Tungsten's interior kicks things up several notches, too, with a standard Klipsch Reference Premiere audio system with 1,228 watts of power and 23 speakers; 24-way power-adjustable, massaging, ventilated and heated front seat (20-way passenger seat); and a “jeweled” rotary shift knob. Upper-level Ram interiors have been nice for years, but the 2025 update improves things further, making the Tungsten’s improvements on top of those all the more wow-inducing. Of course, bring money — the Tungsten starts at $89,070.

  • Price: $89,070
  • Engine: 3.0L 540-hp/521 lb-ft twin-turbo I-6
  • Max towing capacity: 7,820 lb
  • 2024 Toyota Tundra Capstone

Looking for the fanciest factory Toyota truck money can buy? Meet the Capstone , an all-new trim level introduced to the then-just-redesigned Tundra lineup for 2022. Aptly named — it caps the Tundra family, after all — the Capstone wears blingy 22-inch chrome wheels, chrome mirror caps, chrome grille mesh and even chrome “TUNDRA” lettering in the tailgate. Toyota mounts the Capstone’s cab to the frame using hydraulic mounts, and electronically adjustable dampers help further smooth the ride. The Tundra’s i-Force MAX hybrid twin-turbo V-6 engine is standard, too, making the same 437 hp and 583 lb-ft of torque as in other Tundras so equipped.

The cabin gets a glow-up in the form of a black-and-white color scheme and semi-aniline leather seats, dark American walnut trim and every available Tundra option. Acoustic front glass helps shush the interior at speed. The Tundra family’s largest screens are included, too — there’s a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a 10.0-inch head-up display and a massive 14-inch touchscreen. The only two options offered above the $80,840 base price are a load-leveling rear air suspension and power extending heated tow mirrors, which can be added for $1,335.

  • Price: $80,840
  • Engine: 3.4L 437-hp/583 lb-ft twin-turbo hybrid V-6
  • Max towing capacity: 10,340 lb
