  1. Rulings/Usage on Abrupt Jaunt

The Abrupt Jaunt ability is an Immediate action using teleportation rules but only in a distance restriction of 10ft in any direction at any time. To me, this happens in the blink of an eye. Meaning no time passes before, during or after any other action by anyone. This ability can therefore be activated at anytime.

  2. Abrupt Jaunt alt. wizard class feature, PHBII pg. 70

First Post. Dec 13, 2007. #1. The Abrupt Jaunt alt. class feature allows a conjurer specialist to take an immediate action to teleport up to 10' a number of times/day = (Int bonus). This ability seems amazingly powerful. Instantly and without failure, (Int bonus) times per day a wizard may avoid an attack unless flat-footed or unaware?

  3. "Abrupt jaunt"

Re: "Abrupt jaunt" - how to acquire? A one-level dip in conjuror wizard with the ACF, or three levels of illithid savant. There's also (Psionic) Contingency or Craft Contingent Spell. Combine either one of those with Dimension Door or Synchronicity/Celerity.

  4. How does Abrupt Jaunt work?

I have a question about the sequence of actions with Abrupt Jaunt and any other immediate action for that matter. 1. An opponent moves to the jaunter (less than his speed -10 feet) and attacks in melee. When can the jaunter activate the ACF? After the movement? Before the attack roll? Unlike readied actions immediate actions do not have the rule that they actually take place before the ...

That's it. Abrupt Jaunt is a class feature, and has been erratae'd to a supernatural ability. It is not a spell, and the list does not include "Use supernatural ability" as an allowed action, so you cannot do it. Even the "Escape from Grapple" action does only allow for doing so with opposed grapple checks and Escape Artist checks, not with ...

  6. What can a wizard take instead of a familiar at 1st level?

\$\begingroup\$ Abrupt jaunt is good, but it is the equivalent of a feat. One can get Dimension Jaunt [Reserve] and move up to 45ft instead of 10. Given it is a Standard instead of Immediate, but it is not limited in uses (so long you keep a slot open). \$\endgroup\$ -

  7. "Abrupt jaunt"

Aside from a Wizard ACF, is there any other method to attain 'Abrupt Jaunt'? Speaking as an StP Erudite. The nearest similar tactic I can think of is to manifest Celerity, then Dimension Door. Giant in the Playground Forums > Gaming > Roleplaying Games > D&D 3e/3.5e/d20 ...

Dimensional Jaunt CM: Awful as a standard action. Dimensional Reach CM: Very situational. Drowning Glance CM: Allows a save and only lasts 1 round. Face-Changer CM: Buy a Hat of Disguise. 10. [3.5] What's the use of a familiar? : r/DnD

It's absolutely valid for a conjurer, because Abrupt Jaunt is absurdly powerful, but noone else gets anything nearly that good. It's also worth losing for a sorcerer since they can swap it for the ability to ignore the cast time increase of metamagic feats, which is huge for drawing rods and using them in the same round and for getting access to quicken spell.

  11. the Conjurer's Handbook

During your turn, you can move, cast a spell, and then Jaunt 10' in any direction. Teleport through a door without using a spell, and if you get attacked on the other side, Jaunt again as an immediate action to get back to safety. Because Abrupt Jaunt has no somatic component, you can even use it to escape a grapple. Lots of neat little tricks.

But notice that abrupt jaunt is literally strictly superior: this is a 50% chance to not get hit by the first attack. Abrupt jaunt is a nearly-100% chance to not get hit by the whole full-attack sequence. Master Illusionist. Nice buff to save DCs, free concealment, and 3/day your spells are basically purely-mental actions.

  14. Jaunter (3.5e Class)

Abrupt Jaunt Mass : At 18th level you can abrupt jaunt other to all willing creatures in 60 ft, placing them in any position you need, including yourself. This is especially taxing, dazing you for 1 round and staggering you for 1d4 rounds. In addition your abrupt jaunt ability has a cooldown of 10 minutes before you can use it again.

  15. Does PC have to be aware of being targeted to use immediate action as a

Certainly, if you always have perfect awareness of opportunities to use immediate-action effects, that gets a bit god-mode (particularly with abrupt jaunt), but if you have no awareness, they quickly become useless, so a DM is going to have to find some middle ground.

  17. Immediate action teleportation.

Aside from Abrupt Jaunt, what are some methods of teleporting that use an immediate action? Spells are okay, but I probably won't be able to use it if it's above a 3rd level spell. Also, say I have the Sun School tactical feat. Can I use an immediate action teleport (such as Abrupt Jaunt) to interrupt a charge by teleporting next to them during their movement, hitting them (using the Sun ...

  18. The Abjurant Champion Handbook

Introduction. Abjurant Champion is one of my favorite classes, and it's probably the best "gish" (combination arcane spellcaster/warrior) classes in 3.5.
