Aerosmith will return to Pittsburgh when the legendary rock band resumes their "Peace Out" farewell tour later this year.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers are scheduled to perform at PPG Paints Arena on Friday, Sept. 20, featuring special guest Teddy Swims in a one-night-only performance.

Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday morning at ticketmaster.com .

Fans can expect to hear their favorite songs from a lengthy catalog that includes classics like "Dream On," "Sweet Emotion," "Crazy," "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing," "Love in an Elevator," "Janie's Got a Gun" and "Livin' on the Edge."

"Every night will pay homage to the five decades of Aerosmith's groundbreaking hits as they celebrate 50 years as America's greatest rock band," the tour announcement said.

The Pittsburgh show kicks off the rescheduled "Peace Out" tour, which was postponed last year due to lead singer Steven Tyler's vocal injury. Aerosmith performed at PPG Paints Arena on Sept. 6, just days before the band put the tour on hold.

Childish Gambino brings his final tour to PPG Paints

Grammy Award-winning rapper Donald Glover, known by his project name Childish Gambino, took the stage last Tuesday at PPG Paints Arena for the Pittsburgh stop of “The New World Tour” in support of his latest album, “Bando Stone & the New World.”

The rapper announced in April that the album would be the final release under the Childish Gambino project. Glover claimed his retirement will allow him to focus more energy into his acting and producing endeavors. 

But, as the saying goes, it’s not over until it’s over. Until then, the multi-hyphenate star is pulling out every stop to make Glover’s farewell as memorable as possible.

Preceding the artist’s 29-song headlining set, opening act WILLOW warmed the crowd up with the likes of “Meet Me at Our Spot” and “Transparent Soul.” 

A wave of confusion swept the crowd once WILLOW’s set concluded. In her place, sporadic clangs of construction punctuated the crowd’s murmurs. Rather than filling the intermediary time with a pre-show playlist like many other artists, dull thuds occasionally followed by a shrieking whirr blasted about the arena. Glover seemingly banked on his own magnetism to revive the crowd upon his entrance to the stage. 

Adorned in a pseudo-space suit, Glover threw the general admission section into a frenzy to reposition themselves for a clear view after appearing almost out of thin air on the B stage. LED lights flashed, feeding the rapper’s space suit with a performative charge and pulsing with the beat of “H3@RT$ W3RE M3@NT T0 F7¥.”

Though Glover warned the audience to avoid placing themselves in the way of lasers during the show as he walked the stretch between the B stage and the main stage, the only other rule was for the masses to “Have a good f—ing time.”

While many concertgoers have identified the mindblowing athleticism of Taylor Swift as the keystone of the Eras tour’s success, Glover’s vocals acted as an accompaniment to his production crew’s technical feats.

Senior marketing and accounting major Jack Wagner highlighted the light design as the center point of the show’s visual component, describing it as “strings of lights forming a matrix that project[ed] a 3D image of [Glover’s] face or words or patterns that enhanced the vibe of the show, and that could be seen from anywhere in the crowd.”

“He succeeded on all fronts,” Wagner said. “It was something that I’d never seen before, and who knows when I’ll get to see something like it again, was a sadder way to think about it.”

Glover seemingly shared Wagner’s nostalgia — though preemptive — and took a reflective tone at times during his set. The rapper dedicated “A Place Where Love Goes” to all the lovers in the audience, while at another point he called out, “The point of life is to be happy, isn’t it?” before launching into “In the Summer.”

While understandingly sentimental, Glover refused to let his imminent retirement overshadow the night. 

Glover began goading the crowd, encouraging them to outdo Toronto in terms of energy. He employed distraction after distraction so that he could fool everyone once more with a second surprise appearance on the B stage, where he launched into “Me and Your Mama.”

“Y’all ain’t real fans,” said Glover, taunting the audience to match his own frenetic energy. He’d spent weeks teasing early looks of what was in store, even revealing the “LIGHT-BINDER” to his loyal Instagram followers on Aug. 17.

Glover barrelled toward the end, performing a medley of shortened versions of his biggest hits. Though the floor shook with “Bonfire,” it was “Redbone” — the rapper’s single with over a billion streams on Spotify — that brought the crowd to its knees.

“To some extent, it was almost emotional because there is a chance that I might never get to see him again,” said Wagner. “It was definitely something special, and it’s a memory that I will cherish for years.”

Childish Gambino electrifies PPG Paints Arena on final tour

Donald Glover is the definition of multitalented. He is a renowned writer, actor and director who has written for NBC’s “30 Rock,” starred in “Community” and wrote and starred in the FX series “Atlanta,” among many other projects.

When he works under his stage name — Childish Gambino — it’s all about the music.

Starting in 2008, he has rapped, sang and bent genres under that pseudonym.

On Tuesday night, Pittsburgh saw Childish Gambino perform, for what he says is the final time, at PPG Paints Arena.

The opener was another famous face. Going by only her first name, 23-year-old Willow Smith is the daughter of A-listers Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith, but Willow distinguished herself from her superstar family — and her childhood forays into acting and music — in her 40-minute set of spacey, good-vibes alt-pop.

That included popular songs like “Wait A Minute!” and “Meet Me At Our Spot,” both of which blend indie rock and jazzy R&B in a chill groove perfect for opening the show. She thanked Childish Gambino for bringing her along on this tour. “He’s a visionary and a once-in-a-generation talent.”

Between sets, an array of large light rigs appeared over the audience, where they remained to cast bright white lights over the assembling crowd, until they started to flicker, appear to short out and strobe as thrumming noise rang out from the PA system. The lights pulsed faster and faster along with the humming bass until finally they went out and, on a B-stage toward the back of the floor crowd, Childish Gambino appeared, launching into the set’s first song, “Hearts Were Meant To Fly.”

The song opens his latest — and apparently final — album, which serves as the soundtrack to the film “Bando Stone and the New World,” in which Glover stars and makes his film directorial debut. He welcomed everyone to the New World Tour as red lights shone from the small stage and the industrial beat vibrated through the crowd.

“This is the last Childish Gambino tour, so I need y’all to act like it’s the last Childish Gambino tour,” he said as the crowd cheered.

He made sure it was memorable, and not just with music. The show featured innovative and jaw-dropping technical feats like lasers, pyrotechnics, and an undulating, up-and-down-moving set of light strands that cast many colors and shapes over the thrust stage. At times, they shimmered in rainbow shades like a swimming fish’s scales, like during “Survive,” and during “Got To Be,” they formed a huge red skull.

Gambino, for his part, was a ball of energy in a futuristic, lit outfit, bouncing and strutting over the thrust stage. For many songs, he was accompanied by three dancers, combining some really fun moves with a fluid, interpretive dance style.

“You still with me, Pittsburgh? This song is for people who have been in love or are in love,” he said. “If you wanna turn on your phone lights and hold them up in the air, you can. Like stars.”

The audience obliged while he slowed things down with the lovely “Steps Beach,” and the hanging lights shone in a pulse of pastel colors while the arena was lit with thousands of points of white light. It was a decidedly romantic moment.

He followed that by saying “Here’s the real test” before booming into “I. Crawl,” a scorching song with a massive chorus. When he yelled “Go!” the crowd … well, went, and the energy was palpable through the floor as thousands of fans all jumped in time to the beat.

The switches between sultry R&B tunes including “No Excuses” where Gambino channeled ’80s icons with his impressive falsetto and the brash, beat-heavy rap songs such as “Do Ya Like” were surprisingly seamless.

“This is the point in the night where I need to know if you’re a real fan or not,” he said in what must have been some dry humor, because he followed it up by booming into his biggest song to date, “This Is America.” He performed the controversial hit with just as much enthusiasm as in its iconic music video.

He once again said, “Y’all aren’t real fans, though. Do you know this one?” before “IV. Sweatpants,” a fan favorite from 2013’s “Because The Internet,” which included some impressively fast rapping, hilarious bars and great shout-along moments for the crowd to enjoy.

After that was a rapid-fire showcase of his beloved tracks, from “Sober” to “Heartbeat” to the absolutely incendiary “Bonfire.”

“Y’all are real fans! Pittsburgh! I didn’t know you had game like that!” he said as the crowd cheered.

After the rarely performed “Telegraph Ave.,” he glowed with another early career favorite, “3005,” which showed off his rapping and singing skills. The lights shimmered in every color in the midst of what would have felt like a perfect sendoff if he’d ended the night there — a timeless song that’s a little happy and a little bittersweet.

Instead, he went with the very-old-school R&B hit “Redbone,” featuring some Otis Redding-esque vocals with a modern twist, ending with a keyboard-and-drums bonanza from his band. Then all the lights went out and he ended with a simple “Thank you.”

The screens behind the stage played an actual film credits sequence, giving thanks to everyone who made the tour possible. And as all modern moviegoers know, everything has a post-credits sequence these days. His was one word on the black screen: “Lithonia?”

The crowd answered in the affirmative.

He returned to show off the latest trick he has up his sleeve. While rock elements snuck into many songs on the setlist, “Lithonia,” also from “Bando Stone and the New World,” is a straight-up burning-down-the-house rock song — and it did, in fact, do just that.

The man has range.

As the words “THE END” appeared on the screens, Childish Gambino left the stage for the last time, simply saying, “Thank you. We love you.”

Las Vegas – The Octagon® lands in the Steel City for the third time when former UFC® middleweight champion Luke Rockhold faces top contender David Branch in the main event of UFC FIGHT NIGHT®: ROCKHOLD vs. BRANCH, Saturday, Sept. 16 at PPG Paints Arena. The event will air live on FS1.

Rockhold (15-3, fighting out of Santa Cruz, California), ranked No. 3 in the world, makes his highly-anticipated return to the Octagon in pursuit of regaining the division title. A winner of 14 of his last 16 bouts, Rockhold has recorded impressive victories over former division champion Chris Weidman, current champion Michael Bisping and perennial top contender Lyoto Machida. Rockhold’s eight wins by submission and five knockouts are further proof of his ability to finish opponents whether standing up or on the ground. 

Branch (21-3, fighting out of Brooklyn, N.Y.) is currently ranked No. 9 and knows a victory over Rockhold could immediately launch him into title contention. Branch defeated Krzysztof Jotko by split decision this past May in his first UFC bout since 2011. A jiu-jitsu black belt with five first-round knockouts and seven career submission victories, Branch is ready to show he can match Rockhold whether they are grappling or standing toe to toe.

A potential fight of the night matchup takes place in the co-main event when hard charging welterweight Mike Perry (10-1, fighting out of Orlando, Florida) takes on veteran Thiago Alves (26-11, fighting out of Coconut Creek, Florida). Perry has won three of his last four bouts with all 10 of his career victories coming by knockout — including five in the first round. Alves has recorded 13 career knockouts and has been victorious in 11 of his last 17 bouts.  

Another exciting main card event features powerful middleweights Hector Lombard (34-7-1, 2 NC, fighting out of Coconut Creek, Florida) and Anthony Smith (27-12, Fighting out of Omaha, Nebraska). Lombard, who competed on Cuba’s 2000 Olympic judo team, is known for being a fast starter with 22 knockouts on his resume. However, the 5’9” Lombard will be at a distinct height disadvantage against the 6’4” Smith who has 14 wins by knockout, 10 submissions and 15 first-round finishes in his career.
