With the runaway success of Emily in Paris , it was only a matter of time before a reality competition placed Americans in the City of Love so that they can, well, fall in love. That's exactly what you get with Love Trip: Paris , a reality dating show coming to Freeform and Hulu. 

In a refreshing development to the reality dating show scene, some of the women heading to Paris to find love aren't just looking for French men. The LGBTQ+ friendly series is sure to delight fans of all orientations who want to cheer for people finding their people. 

Here's everything we know about Love Trip: Paris . 

Love Trip: Paris release date

Love Trip: Paris premieres on Valentine's Day, Tuesday, February 14, on Freeform and Hulu. The first two two episodes are being released on the premiere day, beginning at 9 pm ET/PT. 

After the premiere, episodes will air weekly on Freeform and Hulu on Tuesdays at 10 pm ET/PT.

The first episode is titled "New Country, Same Mistake." Here is the description: "Four American girls unlucky in love in the US move to Paris to find their soulmates. Afraid of repeating mistakes from back home, Lacy, Rose, Caroline and Josielyn are ready for a change of scenery… but old habits are tough to break!"

The second episode is titled "Love Blooms." Here's the description: "Two new suitors catch Josielyn's interest. Rose takes a shot with another man. Caroline turns up the heat. Lacy reveals a shocking secret from her past."

As of this writing there is no release date for UK audiences, but we will provide an update here as soon as updates are available.

Freeform’s ‘Love Trip Paris’ is a dating reality TV show that follows four singles who are prepared to uproot their life and leave everything behind in search of true love beyond the borders but in the fashion capital. The individuals go on a journey to find love and participate in a daring social experiment for people who have failed to find love in the country.

Each of them takes an amazing trip to Paris, where they meet their perfect life partner and stay in a penthouse in the middle of Paris with French suitors waiting to date them. Season 1 introduced four free-spirited personalities who embarked on a journey to find “the one.” So it is natural for fans of the show to wonder what happened to the singles in the show.

Josielyn Aguilera is Thriving as an Artist Today

Josielyn Aguilera is a determined and aspirational young woman in ‘Love Trip: Paris’ who is searching for love but won’t accept anything less than perfection. She swiftly wins the group over with her charismatic demeanor and endearing smile. Josielyn made her acting debut in  2022 in the movie ‘Jacked’ as Amira. She has since made appearances on the TV shows ‘Quantum Leap’ and ‘Not so Straight in Silver Lake.’

This John Wayne Western With 100% on Rotten Tomatoes Kicked Off The Genre's Best Change

• John Ford's Fort Apache was groundbreaking in portraying Native Americans accurately, sparking a trend towards more respectful depictions.
• The film contrasts an East-West view of America through Thursday and York's characters, addressing themes of cooperation versus domination.

Fort Apache is a 1948 Western made by John Ford starring John Wayne and Henry Fonda . The film is the first of a trilogy (with 1949’s She Wore a Yellow Ribbon and 1950’s Rio Grande ) by Ford dealing with the US Cavalry in the West after the Civil War. Ford produced Fort Apache with Merian C. Cooper ( King Kong ) under the banner Argosy Pictures for RKO Radio Pictures Studio. It is considered to be one of the first movies to present “a pro-Indian” view of Native Americans . Fort Apache set a trend, followed by Broken Arrow , Cheyenne Autumn , and other films that continued the trend of more accurate portrayals of Indigenous characters.

Frank S. Nugent wrote the Fort Apache screenplay from a magazine story, “Massacre,” by James Warner Bellah . T he story borrows incidents from and closely traces the outline of General George Armstrong Custer’s career —West Point graduate, service as a brigadier general in the Civil War, sent west as a lieutenant colonel to command the 7th Cavalry at Fort Riley, Kansas, during the Indian Wars, Little Big Horn. Ford adds physical details to make Fonda, who, not surprisingly, almost steals the picture away from Wayne, look more like Custer.

What is Fort Apache About?

Widower, Former Civil War General, now Lieutenant Colonel, Owen Thursday (Fonda) arrives with his daughter Philly ( Shirley Temple ) to take command of an isolated Fort Apache during the Indian Wars. At the same time, 2nd Lieutenant Michael O’Rouke ( John Agar , Temple’s husband at the time) shows up. The recent West Point graduate shows an immediate romantic interest in Philly (and vice versa). Meanwhile, Thursday can only stew in anger over the perceived insult of his new wilderness assignment and demotion in rank.

At Fort Riley, Thursday takes over from the popular previous commander, Captain Kirby York (Wayne), much to the chagrin of the men at the fort, including O’Rouke’s Sergeant Mayor father ( Ward Bond ), who acts as a fatherly buffer between the rigid new commander and the men who are unaccustomed to such high-handedness. After a murderous attack on a small detail of cavalrymen by renegade Indians , York tries to convince Thursday that they were reacting to the mistreatment on the reservation by the corrupt government agent and proposes a meeting with the Apache leader Cochise to make peace. Thursday sees York’s proposal as a way to lure Cochise into an ambush and to make a new name for himself.

Fort Apache Presents Opposing Visions of America

Fort Apache presents two opposing views of America in the 1870s, personified by its protagonists, Thursday and York. Thursday represents the view of the East that Native Americans stand in the way of Manifest Destiny, the “preordained” Westward Expansion of white settlers. We hear Thursday, newly arrived in the West, speak of being glorified by the Eastern newspapers as he secretly contemplates the elimination of Cochise. On the other hand, York has spent more time in the West and has come to understand the native peoples as having been there first. He represents a more enlightened view that seeks to find a way to coexist fairly and peacefully with the First Nations people .

In reviewing Custer’s life, on which the film is loosely based, Kevin M. Levin concludes , “ Custer’s racial outlook was perfectly consistent with the overarching racial views of white Northerners and Southerners and those he expressed publicly during Reconstruction. The United States was a white man’s nation. The very existence of the United States was predicated on the dispossession of the indigenous people. If Custer was wrong, ultimately, it was because the nation was wrong.” In different contexts, the same two opposing views—cooperation versus domination—continue to exist today.

The film also displays another conflict: the conflict between mindless duty and decency, between the spirit and the letter of the law . York believes in mutual respect for the Indians and understands that Cochise broke the treaty and left the reservation out of frustration over mistreatment by the government's representative. He gives Cochise his word that there will be peace if he returns. His superior, Thursday, in keeping with his refusal to allow his daughter to marry beneath his social station, believes Indians are not worthy of respect and considers York's promise a trick he can use to lure Cochise into a deadly ambush. York naturally feels betrayed and used. Thursday's actions further represent the government's lies, corruption, and bad faith.

Then, at the last minute before the final battle, Thursday finds a pretense, against York's protests, to order him and young O'Rourke back out of danger, sensing that York should live to succeed him as commander of the regiment and that O'Rourke and his daughter are in love and are destined to marry. His final actions seem to attempt to atone for what he ultimately realizes to have been mistakes. Finally, when newspaper reporters ask him years later to remember Thursday's legacy, York speaks only of his bravery, not his foolishness. York has a duty to speak the truth, but he tempers it with a larger and more charitable knowledge, unintentionally supporting the false legend of the Colonel's glory. This tension between duty to the law and its spirit also persists today. It is one of the reasons why the film continues to be relevant.

Did Fort Apache Really Start a Trend to Portray Native Americans Fairly?

So-called “Indians” have existed in film since the very beginning of the business. Cecil DeMille’s The Squaw Man (1913), long thought to be the very first feature film made when the East Coast studios moved to what is now Hollywood, dealt with the issue of interracial marriage between whites and Indians. In keeping with the ethnocentricity of the country’s colonial and expansionist past, the predominant image of Native Americans in the early decades of motion picture history was of bloodthirsty savages who only lived to prey on whites. This was the stuff of hundreds of serials and B movies for decades.

Before Fort Apache , some filmmakers attempted to portray Native Americans more realistically and respectfully. Films like The Vanishing American (1926) and Cimarron (1931) tried to be sympathetic and understanding even while thoughtlessly using whites to play natives. It was indeed John Ford’s 1948 epic that set the tone for a revised look at Indigenous characters, showing them as honorable but wary, dignified, naturally peaceful, reasonable, and strategically superior warriors. According to his biographer Scott Eyman , Ford had formed this view while working with the Monument Valley tribes on Stagecoach in 1939 and cultivated it with each new project or vacation to that area until the end of his life.

In his definitive guide to the Western, The Six-Gun Mystique , Western scholar John G. Cawelti documents that there was indeed a change in how Native Americans were portrayed after Fort Apache in 1948, typified by Broken Arrow (1950), Apache (1954), and Run of the Arrow (1957). Though still not entirely realistic, they dealt with Native people more complexly. Ford particularly used Indigenous peoples as actors in Cheyenne Autumn (1964). Late 20th-century films went even further toward fair and faithful portrayals with A Man Called Horse (1969), Little Big Man (1970), Dances With Wolves (1990), and Last of the Mohicans (1992). The 21st Century has witnessed the advent of films by Native filmmakers like Smoke Signals (1998), Atanarjuat: The Fast Runner (2001), and Reservation Dogs (2021), depicting their own cultures in the modern world.

Fort Apache was immediately popular, critically acclaimed, and financially successful upon its release. It has become a classic , which may account for its 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes . Even with its flaws (attempts at comedy range unevenly from lame physical jokes to rich moments of verbal humor), it is still a well-made, exciting, and historically important work.

Apple TV Plus just landed a new comedy-drama show — and it's 92% on Rotten Tomatoes

"Bad Monkey" is another Apple TV Plus hit

Apple TV Plus is no stranger to pumping out highly-rated projects; recent hits include " Sunny ",  " Presumed Innocent " and the Erica Tremblay movie, " Fancy Dance " (among others). And, going by the first reactions to their brand-new Vince Vaughn comedy-drama, it looks like the Apple TV Plus library has gained yet another must-watch show.

The show we're talking about is "Bad Monkey", a new black comedy detective drama based on the 2013 book of the same name by Carl Hiaasen. The series takes us down to southern Florida and draws suspended detective, Andrew Yancy (Vaughn), into a bizarre new case that revolves around a severed arm that's turned up on his doorstep. 

The first two episodes of "Bad Monkey" arrived on August 14, (here's how to watch "Bad Monkey right now) , and the critics agree that the show's off to a strong start. What is 'Bad Monkey' about?

"Bad Monkey" is a bizarre, black comedy-drama motivated by greed and it's colorful cast of characters, one in which detective-turned-restaurant inspector Andrew Yancy does his best to crack a new case he's convinced is fishy. And no, that's not just because the case begins with a tourist dredging up a severed forearm.

After taking custody of the missing limb and running it up to Miami to be inspected by coroner Rosa (Natalie Martinez), Yancy's easygoing life in the Florida Keys is over, and he begins an investigation that sees him brushing up against the widow of the murder victim, corrupt property developers, a voodoo priestess, and, of course, the eponymous, mischievous monkey.  

Apple's full synopsis for the series reads: "'Bad Monkey' tells the story of Andrew Yancy (Vince Vaughn) who has been bounced from the Miami Police Department and is now a health inspector in the Keys. But after stumbling upon a case that begins with a human arm fished up by tourists, he realizes that if he can prove murder, he'll be back in. He just needs to get past a trove of Floridian oddballs and one bad monkey". 

Should you stream 'Bad Monkey'?

As a streaming writer, I do my best to check out as much TV as possible. Now, I've already dipped into the opening episode of "Bad Monkey", and I'd wager it'll be hard not to get sucked into this breezy black comedy.

Vaughn's a charismatic lead from the get-go, one who bounces off the rest of the ensemble well, and the show's wicked sense of humor already has me laughing. What I've seen of the show so far has convinced me to add "Bad Monkey" to my weekly rotation of shows.

If my reaction's not enough to convince you, then maybe reactions from critics will be. On the review aggregate site, Rotten Tomatoes , the series is certified Fresh, and currently holds a 92% critics' score, from a total of 26 reviews. The show doesn't currently have an audience score, but seeing as it only dropped today, that makes sense. 

The critical consensus reads: "A vibrant riff on the P.I. serials of television's yesteryear, "Bad Monkey" is a breezy good time that fully leverages Vince Vaughn's motormouth charms",  

IGN 's Emma Fraser calls the show 'an entertaining, if not scattered, crime comedy', and says "Bad Monkey" is "a show that makes the most of its striking locations, doing justice to the bold colors of the Florida and Bahamas settings. Executive producer Bill Lawrence is now three for three with Apple shows, delivering a match made in heaven with Vaughn."

Similarly, The Daily Beast writer Nick Schager says "Bad Monkey" is: "A vehicle tailor-made for its leading funnyman Vince Vaughn—and one of the year’s sunniest surprises". 

Meanwhile, The Hollywood Reporter's Daniel Fienberg says the comedy manages to breeze past its flaws, calling it 'an agreeable way to spend 10 hours'. "As a mystery, or a semi-thriller, it doesn't work at all", Fienberg writes. "It is, however, wry, easygoing and sunbaked in a way that appropriately mirrors Hiaasen's tone. With a superb cast led by Vince Vaughn, Natalie Martinez, Michelle Monaghan and Jodie Turner-Smith, plus an impeccable eye for Florida locations, this is an agreeable way to spend 10 hours.".

Emily Cooper ( Lily Collins ) has come a long way since she first moved to Paris and began working at Savoir. From promoting notable fashion designers to luxury brands, she's been able to take full advantage of her marketing skills, social media presence, and American point of view, proving to be a valuable asset in her workplace. Yet, that doesn't mean that things haven't gotten messy for her throughout the past three seasons, especially when it comes to her love life. The drama that the protagonist endured might've made her trajectory in France complicated, but it did lead to a lot of the memorable quotes featured in Emily in Paris .

For instance, if it weren't for Emily and Gabriel's ( Lucas Bravo ) attraction to one another and occasional slip-up to more-than-friends territory, viewers would never have gotten to laugh uncontrollably at her letter to Camille ( Camille Razat ) in Season 2. Early on in the series, Emily had to keep an eye on an American actress named Brooklyn Clark (played by Carlson Young ), who went to Paris to promote a million-euro watch for a Savoir campaign. Initially excited to spend some time next to a Hollywood star she admires, the protagonist soon finds that Brooklyn is a diva with little to no responsibility. Throughout her brief stay in France, she was not only too focused on partying and finding someone to take back to her hotel room, but she also almost cost the marketing firm a fortune for leaving a club with the watch she was advertising.

Yet, prior to things dwindling, Brooklyn does utter a line that becomes memorable in the show . Although the reasoning behind her quote is just to convince Emily to let her have a drink, it does ring true to the phase that both she and the main character are at in life. With the actress being at the height of her onscreen career and the protagonist slowly making leaps in her marketing trajectory in Paris, the two deserve to have some fun outside their obligations.

9 "Desire does not mean lack of respect. In fact, quite the opposite – it is a sign of respect."

Antoine lambert (season 1, episode 3).

Antoine ( William Abadie ) is one of Savoir's most important clients, given that he owns a luxurious perfume company. In Emily in Paris Season 1 , Emily accompanies the rest of her team to a commercial shoot for Antoine's perfume, and the recording features a naked woman walking down the street wearing the irresistible scent while men observe her. The protagonist feels appalled by it because she believes that American clients won't perceive the campaign as sexy, but rather look at it as sexist.

In an attempt to vouch for the commercial, Antoine says that desire is a sign of respect and that a woman feels confident when she can grasp someone's attention . Although Emily still doesn't fully support the idea, she becomes intrigued by his explanation. The quote also reflects a lot of Antoine's behavior in the series, on multiple occasions being unapologetic about his attraction to Sylvie ( Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu ), Emily, and his wife Catherine ( Charley Fouquet ).

8 "You live to work, we work to live."

Luc (season 1, episode 1).

When the bubbly protagonist arrives in Paris to represent her marketing firm in the US, she isn't exactly well received by her French colleagues, particularly by Sylvie. The cultural clash is evident, not just because of the language barrier. The office in France is much more laid-back than what Emily is used to, with people arriving late for work and not being as open to social media strategies.

If it weren't for Luc ( Bruno Goery ) offering her a word of advice, she wouldn't have slowly settled at Savoir. Her co-worker tells her that everyone feels intimidated by her work ethic and her new ideas, and that is why they are so reluctant to have her as part of the team in the beginning. If he hadn't let her in on how the Parisian office operates, she would've had an even harder time adapting to the city and the people in her midst.

7 "I am sad that I am naughty."

Emily cooper (season 2, episode 4).

After Camille finds out that Emily and Gabriel hooked up at the end of Season 1, and that he decided to stay in Paris because of her, she cuts ties with the main character for good. Ashamed of the situation and determined to rekindle her friendship with Camille, Emily writes her a handwritten letter in French as an apology. However, the letter turns out comical because of the protagonist's lack of knowledge of the language. T he most hilarious part of it is when she says "I am sad that I am naughty," which she likely intended to say that she was sorry for her actions.

This quote not only became a meme online, but it also became a stand-out moment in Emily in Paris Season 2 , showing that Emily was determined to make amends with one of her closest friends and is vulnerable enough to pen a note in a language she isn't proficient in. Although Camille calls her "illiterate" in response to the letter, the two eventually reconnect, even if their relationship isn't as strong as before.

6 "The French are romantics, but they're also realists."

Mindy chen (season 1, episode 2).

Emily finds solace in her friendship with Mindy ( Ashley Park ) from day one in Paris, and the latter helps her get acquainted with French culture and customs. When the protagonist finds out that her boss has an affair with a married man and that his wife is aware of it, she is visibly shocked and tells that to Mindy. Her friend demystifies the romanticized notion that Emily has of Parisian people with this quote.

Although Paris might be branded as the city of love, the French are more open to finding love in non-traditional ways, including through an open marriage. In many moments, other characters in the series also remind the main character of this, saying that not everyone gets a cookie cutter happily ever after.

5 "It's nice to talk to someone you don't have to explain yourself to."

Nicolas de leon (season 3, episode 5).

After Mindy's music career takes off, her relationship with her boyfriend and bandmate Benoit ( Kevin Dias ) is tested. Halfway through Season 3, she reconnects with a colleague from boarding school called Nicolas de Leon ( Paul Forman ), who happens to be a client of Savoir. After so many ups and downs in her personal life, Mindy feels like she can finally open up about her feelings and even her hardships with the person who has known her for so long.

Nicolas utters this quote during their conversation at a party, and Mindy really resonates with this phrase. After all, she has had trouble before trying to hide her passions and aspirations, because of her family. Having someone tell her that they can accept her for who she really is just brings her the comfort that she needs at that moment.

4 "Not choosing is still a choice."

Alfred "alfie" peterson (season 3, episode 1).

In life, there has to be a balance between work and personal life, but it is easier said than done. At the start of Season 3, Emily is juggling two jobs, working for Madeline ( Kate Walsh ) on one end and Sylvie on the other. Her decision not to resign affects both her life and her relationship with Alfie ( Lucien Laviscount ). The latter breaks up with her after she stood him up at the going-away party she planned for him.

Before taking off to London with his luggage in hand, Alfie tells Emily that her not choosing between work and their relationship is still a choice, which is one of the wisest quotes in the entire series . Emily in Paris is comedic and lighthearted in most instances , but there will occasionally be a line in the show that will lead the viewer to sit down and reflect. This saying from French philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre that Alfie quotes is one of them.

3 "I'm not somebody who can share a crepe. I need the whole crepe."

Emily cooper (season 1, episode 7).

The Netflix original doesn't pull back on the cheesiness and Emily will often incorporate French words and stereotypes in her social media posts and in conversations. After she kisses Gabriel at a nightclub earlier in episode seven, she thinks about her impulsive behavior and learns to value herself. Gabriel is dating Camille, and she deserves to be with someone that she won't need to share with somebody else.

Although the crepe reference comes out a bit cringe, there is value in what Emily is trying to say . Despite her genuine feelings for Gabriel, who is also interested in her even though he is with Camille, she knows that if she hangs out with him, she will settle for less. Everyone deserves to be loved wholeheartedly and, thank goodness, the protagonist sees that too.

2 "Without basic b***hes like me, you wouldn't be fashionable."

Emily cooper (season 1, episode 6).

There is nothing like seeing a strong character like Emily stand up for who they are, even if they don't wear haute couture. When Emily responds to Pierre Cadault's ( Jean-Christophe Bouvet ) criticism of her and the bag charm in her purse, it is an iconic moment in the series. Instead of apologizing for being basic, the protagonist embraces it and tells Pierre that he should be thankful to the girls who are only able to afford a small luxury from his line.

After all, those who are considered basic usually worship designers and their impeccable work. They dream of wearing an expensive gown one day and will save up money to make that aspiration a reality. She is right in saying that those who are least fortunate are the ones who make designers fashionable.

1 "While you're here, fall in love, make mistakes, leave a disastrous trip in your wake."

Sylvie grateau (season 2, episode 5).

Sylvie can be really tough on Emily, but at the end of the day, she does sympathize with her and grows to appreciate her marketing ideas. After the protagonist begins to work on Gabriel's social media campaign, she has mixed feelings about being close to him after all that went down between her and Camille. Sylvie gives this word of encouragement so that Emily doesn't continue taking life so seriously and truly takes advantage of her one-year stay in Paris.

The quote shows that the main character's boss does have a heart underneath her meandering looks and posh posture. Being young and in a vibrant city like Paris is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and Sylvie's words of advice really propel Emily to be more free to go after what she wants, and making mistakes along the way is part of the process.

Things are really heating up, with plenty of choices on streaming services, both from abroad and of every outlook.

So when we put together our guide of the 2024’s best rom-coms and romance movies, we’re looking at PDAs for everyone to see in fawning awe (we won’t acknowledge of any other reaction) and what’s happening behind shuttered living room curtains.
