The power window regulator and motor assembly are vital to the operation of your vehicle's power windows. This assembly contains both the electric window motor and mechanical or cable-driven regulator. Power window motor and regulator assemblies receive electrical signals from the power window switch or relay. These signals trigger the motor to raise or lower the windows, while the regulator ensures smooth movement throughout the window's course. This not only allows your windows to be used easily but also prevents the window from falling into the door. A damaged or worn power window regulator or motor can prevent you from easily controlling your vehicle's windows, or could keep the window from moving at all. You may notice unusual sounds from the window motor, such as grinding or ticking noises, or there might be notable resistance while attempting to roll your windows up or down. 3 Die in Blast in Chechnya; Protesters Insist That Russians Leave

An explosion ripped through a crowd in Grozny today as besieged protesters in the Chechen capital demanded that Russian troops leave the secessionist republic.

The explosion, which killed three people and wounded seven, came as Russian troops tried to quarantine the demonstrators and persuade them to leave.

The protesters, whose numbers have swelled to about 2,000, asserted that the Russian authorities were responsible for the blast, which heightened the tensions in the city. Situated in front of the grounds of the ruined presidential palace in Grozny, the six-day-old demonstration has been generally peaceful.

But Russia's Interior Ministry asserted that the protesters had set off the explosion themselves as a "provocation" to stir up "anti-Russian and anti-Government hysteria," the Itar-Tass news agency reported.

Pitching camp in an area destroyed by Russian forces in early 1995, the protesters have set up barricades and tents in front of the palace, a burnt-out shell of a building. The tent city has been dubbed "Duki-Yurt" by the protesters, using the diminutive for Dzhokhar Dudayev, the separatist Chechen leader.

Interior Ministry troops have surrounded the palace area. Protesters have been allowed to leave, but the troops have blocked roads in an effort to prevent more demonstrators from joining the rally.

Russian officials have also tried to keep the pressure on by hinting to Russian news agencies that the demonstration will be forcibly ended. But no official Government ultimatum has been issued, and Russian forces later reportedly pulled back a bit from the center of town.

The exact circumstances surrounding the blast today remain murky. According to one account, two rocket-propelled grenades were fired at the demonstrators from a nearby building. The Interfax news agency, in another account, reported that two civilians and a Russian soldier were killed by an explosive device, but later added that no soldiers had been hurt.

Later this evening, there was speculation that more had died, after relatives were reported to have retrieved some of the casualties. Still, another reported incident involved a protester, who was said to have been shot after menacing a Russian soldier with a knife.

The protest in Grozny comes as the embattled President, Boris N. Yeltsin, has promised to start a peace initiative to end the unpopular war. Mr. Yeltsin has said he will unveil his peace plan in his State of the Nation address on Feb. 23.

But Mr. Yeltsin has also rejected calls for the quick withdrawal of Russian troops. In a statement today, the Government said Russian troops needed to protect the Chechen Republic against "Dudayev's way to large-scale terrorism against his own people." Russian troops will be withdrawn only gradually after security is achieved in Chechnya, the statement continued.

Interior Ministry officials, for their part, appear more concerned with raising funds for the continued occupation of Chechnya.

To raise money for the military, the nation's hard-currency reserves should be tapped, banks renationalized and tariffs increased, Anatoly S. Kulikov, the Interior Minister, told officials today. Mr. Kulikov also demanded that the Government review the "drastic situation of budget financing" for the military, according to an account of a Government meeting by Itar-Tass.

"The army is being ruined just as in February 1917," Mr. Kulikov said. "But then it was done by the Bolsheviks; now it is broken up by nonpayments."
