How To View Safari Tabs Across Your Apple Products

Sharing website links with others (or even yourself) is a common practice among internet users in these modern times, and it usually involves copying and pasting the URL across messages, texts, or emails. However, if you primarily use Apple devices like an iPhone, iPad, and MacBook, you have the option to share those addresses a bit more fluidly.

It requires a little bit of preemptive setup, and you have to use Apple's baked-in Safari web browser. More specifically, if you're using a Mac with macOS Mojave 10.14.3 and older, you'll need to make sure your iPhone or iPad is running iOS (or iPad OS) 12 or earlier. If your Mac uses macOS Mojave 10.14.4 or newer, the iPhone or iPad will need to have iOS or iPad OS 13 or newer installed.

But once everything is set up, you'll be able to browse websites to your heart's content on one device (say, an iPad), then send it over to another (like a MacBook) to continue from the exact page you left off. Think of it as a quick way to jump to a larger screen for viewing images or videos in more detail, changing over to a more portable platform when you need to head out but want to keep a specific page with you, or finding something you like on one device and moving over to the one that has your payment info saved. Here's how to get started.

Setting up iCloud tabs

None of this is going to work if you don't tell iCloud to let Safari share tabs across all the devices that are connected to it, so you'll need to take care of that before you start slinging links everywhere.

On an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch, open the Settings app (it looks like a gear).
Tap your profile name at the top of the Settings menu, then select iCloud.
Find the Apps Using iCloud section, then locate Safari. You may have to tap the Show All option at the bottom of the list if you don't see it.
Tap the toggle switch next to Safari (so that it turns green) to turn on iCloud sharing.
On a Mac, click the Apple icon in the top-left corner of the screen and select System Settings (or System Preferences in macOS 12 and older).
Select your Apple ID name, then click iCloud.
Find the listing for Safari in the Apps Using iCloud section of the menu. If you don't see Safari, click the Show All button just below the app list.
Click the toggle next to Safari (so that it turns green) to turn on iCloud sharing.

You'll need to repeat these steps across all of your Apple devices that you intend to share links with, but once it's done, you're all set to share websites freely between them.

Using and sharing tabs across Apple devices

With iCloud all set up for Safari, it's time to start sharing tabs.

On an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch, open Safari and tap the Tabs button, then tap the Plus (+) icon to open a new tab.
Any Safari tabs open on other connected devices will appear in the default Start Page for the new tab.
Tap one of the tab links to open the tab on your device, or tap and hold the link and select Close when prompted to close the linked tab on the other device.
On a Mac, open Safari and select the Bookmarks menu at the top of the screen, then choose Show Start Page.
You'll see Safari tabs that are open on other connected devices from the Start Page by default.
To open a linked tab on your Mac, just click it.
To close a linked tab on a connected device from your Mac, press and hold Ctrl on the keyboard, click the link, then select Close Tab when prompted.

If you're unable to see open Safari tabs between your devices, go back and make sure that you're signed in with your Apple ID on all of them. If a different Apple ID is being used, you'll need to switch to the same one you're using for your other Apple devices.

How to View Safari Tabs From Another iPhone or iPad

How to Enable Safari on iCloud

To use most Apple services , such as the App Store , Apple Music, iCloud, etc., users must sign in w ith their Apple IDs. This is usually done during the setup of the Apple device. If you aren’t signed in during setup, here’s how to sign in from Settings.

Step 1: Open Settings > Sign in to your iPhone > follow the on-screen steps .

Step 2: Once done, tap on your profile name at the top in Settings .

Step 3: Tap on Show All > enable Safari > select Merge .

How to Enable iCloud Tabs From the Safari Start Page

With iCloud Tabs turned on in the Safari Settings, your Safari tabs are stored in the cloud. However, to view the open tabs across your iPhone or iPad, you also must enable iCloud tabs. The option is available on the Safari start page. Here’s how to do so:

Step 1: Tap the Safari app on your iPhone or iPad’s home screen .

Step 2: Scroll to the bottom of the Safari tab > tap Edit to view the Customize Start Page .

Step 3: Tap the toggle for the iCloud tabs to enable it.

By tapping the toggle beside the iCloud tabs option, Safari will show open tabs from your other Apple devices.

How to View Open Tabs on Other Apple Devices

With iCloud tabs and iCloud sync enabled on Safari, here’s how to view open tabs across your Apple devices:

Step 1: Tap the Safari app on your iPhone or iPad’s home screen.

Step 2: Tap the tab icon on Safari.

Step 3: Tap the + sign to open the Safari Start Page.

Step 4: Scroll to the bottom of the Safari Start Page, and you’ll need to see the name of your other Apple device.

Step 5: Tap Show All to view all open tabs.

How to Close Open Tabs on Other Apple Devices

Apart from viewing the open tabs across your Apple devices, you can also close them. Here’s how to do so:

Step 2: Tap the tab icon on Safari and then tap the + sign to open the Safari Start Page.

Step 3: Scroll to the bottom , and you’ll need to see the name of your other Apple device.

Step 4: Tap Show All to view all open tabs.

Step 5: Touch and hold down the tab to launch a menu. Then, tap on Delete from the menu to close the tab.

How to sync Pinned Tabs and Safari settings between Macs

Whether you are moving to a new Mac or just introducing another Mac to your computer set up you will no doubt be celebrating the way that many of the features of your old Mac sync simply to the new devices thanks to iCloud. For example, if you use iCloud Drive then your entire Desktop and Documents folders from your old Mac will sync to your new Mac, and if you use iCloud Photo Library all your photos will be available on your new Mac too.

But there is one app where our settings just don’t transfer across so simply: Safari. As an extensive user of Pinned Tabs in Safari (which means that the pages I use the most are pinned to the top of my Safari window at all times) it is really frustrating that this set up isn’t mirrored on every Apple device I have.

The strange thing is that as useful as the Pinned Tabs feature is, and despite the years that have passed since Apple introduced it with El Capitan in 2015, Apple hasn’t yet made Pinned Tabs sync across our Apple devices.

If you are setting up a new Mac (and you aren’t syncing with a Time Machine back up ) and want to know how you can get your Pinned Tabs to sync across we have some good news and some bad news.

The good news is that with the release of Monterey and the new version of Safari coming this autumn Apple will implement a way to simplify the transfer of pinned web pages from Safari on one device to Safari on another. The bad news is that for this to work seamlessly you will have to wait until Monterey and the new Safari launch.

But there is a bit more good news: you can test the new features coming in Monterey now thanks to the public beta, and you can also try out the new Safari via the Safari Technology Preview. Just note that the implementation of these new features will only be in beta and probably won’t even work right now. Read: How to install the Monterey Beta .

How to sync Safari Tabs

One of the big changes coming to the new Safari is the ability to sync Safari tabs across devices, so you can use them on your iPhone, iPad, or other Macs. You’ll also be able to group tabs together, so that you can easily access tabs that are related to a particular activity you want to undertake. We’ll address Tab Groups elsewhere, what we are interested in here is the fact that tabs will be synced between all your devices.

Apple is still developing Monterey and the new version of Safari, which will introduced this new ability to sync tabs. As we said above, you could try out the Safari Technology Preview, which will work in Big Sur, and test some of the features coming to Safari later this year. Equally you can try out the beta version of Monterey. However running beta software probably isn’t going to be the solution you need right now if you just want to transfer your Pinned Tabs from one Mac to another.

If you don’t want to run the betas, and you don’t want to wait until the autumn, there is still a way to transfer your Pinned Tabs from your old and new Mac. Follow the steps outlined below, which work in current and older versions of the Mac operating systems.

How to sync web pages between Macs (and other Apple devices)

The easiest way to grab your tabs is to follow these steps:

Open the webpage you want to access on your old device.

Click or tap on that icon and it will open that same webpage in Safari on your new device.
Now you can right click on the tab for that webpage to Pin it.

This is a handy feature of Continuity, which was introduced in Yosemite and iOS 8 back in 2014 and means that your iPhone, Mac and iPad are all connected, so you can pick up on your Mac from where you left off on your iPhone, for example.

This is a great solution if you have a few web pages that you use a lot – you can open each one on the old Mac, wait for the Safari icon that shows a webpage is open on another device, and click on it to open that page in Safari.

There are alternative methods that will suit you if there are more pages you wish to sync across to your new Mac though, or if you won’t have the old Mac accessible when you wish to sync your Safari settings.

How to move Safari settings to a new Mac

Another option is to transfer your Safari Preferences – which includes all your Favorites, Bookmarks and Reading List items – from the old Mac to the Mac.

Before you begin you need to make sure that the Pinned Tabs are actually saved to your Bookmark list (which is actually your Favorites list), because they won’t automatically copy across otherwise.

Open the webpage and then click on Bookmarks > Add Bookmarks. You can also choose to add Bookmarks for all the pages you have open.

Now that you have your Pinned tabs saved as Bookmarks you need to locate the Bookmarks.plist in your old Mac and copy it to your new Mac.

How to find Bookmarks.plist

Open the Finder.
Click on the Home folder and locate the Library folder (jump to here if you can’t see Home or here if you can’t locate the Library folder).
Click on the Safari folder in the Library folder.
Find Bookmarks.plist
Copy that file to one of your iCloud folders – we copied to the Desktop since it’s synced via iCloud.
On the new Mac locate the file you just copied over.
Close Safari on the new Mac if it is open.
Open the Home > Library and locate the Safari folder on the new Mac.
Copy the Bookmarks.plist file to the Safari folder. (You can replace the existing file).
Now when you launch Safari your bookmarks and favourites should be there.

Not seeing the Home folder?

Go to Finder > Preferences.
Click on Sidebar.
You will see an option to Show these items in the sidebar. You want to select the that looks like a house icon and has the name of your Mac beside it. This is your Home folder.
Now click on the Home folder in Favourites on the sidebar of the Finder.
You can now access Home in the Finder.

Not seeing the Library folder?

Open Finder.
From the menu at the top of the screen click on Go.
Click on Go to folder.
Type Library.
Scroll to Safari and open the folder.
Copy the plist folder to the new location as described above.

How to recover Pinned Tabs from Favorites and Bookmarks

Copying the Bookmarks.plist file to your new Mac will transfer your Bookmarks, including any webpages you have added to Favourites and Reading List, to you new Mac. When you open Safari you should see shortcuts to these pages as well as any webpages that are open on your other devices in the center of the Safari window.

If you can’t see your Favourites Bar or the Tabs Bar to the top of the window go to View and choose:

View > Show Favourites Bar
View > Show Tabs Bar
View > Show Sidebar

Now you can click on the Favorites and locate anything you had saved to your Reading List on your other device.

Once those pages are open right click or control click and choose Pin Tab.

This is an incredibly long winded way to do something that Apple really should have simplified long ago. Thankfully that will be addressed in the next version of macOS.

Syncing Safari Tabs Between iOS Devices, Macs

Even though iCloud isn’t perfect, it has proven to be extremely useful when syncing content from your Mac to iOS devices. An example of this is Safari bookmark and tab sync via iCloud. Mac and iOS users can have their Safari tabs automagically sync between devices via iCloud servers. While Safari sync may be useful, the option is a bit hidden within the Settings app on your Mac and iOS devices. In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to enable bookmark syncing on both your Mac and iOS device.

iPhone/iPad

Enabling bookmark sync on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch is quite simple. Just make sure you’re signed into an iCloud account on your iOS device and navigate to the Settings app. Once you’re in the app, scroll down until you see the iCloud option. Tap it.

Towards the center of the iCloud menu, you’ll see an option labeled Safari . Switch the on/off slider to the on position. Once you’ve done this, take a look at the Bookmarks bar within Safari on your iPad. You should notice that an iCloud Tabs option has been added to the list. You can access your synced tabs via this menu. If you’re on an iPad, look towards the top of your Safari window, and you should see an iCloud button . Tap on this button to view your synced Safari tabs.

To enable iCloud sync on your Mac, launch the System Preferences app and click on the iCloud button. Look towards the center of this window and check the checkbox located next to the Safari tab. Like on the iPad, your synced Safari tabs will be located towards the top of the Safari window and can be accessed by clicking the iCloud button .

There you have it. All your tabs should be syncing across your OS X and iOS devices.

Safari in macOS Ventura gains the ability to share groups of tabs with others. This is a great way to keep things organised when planning a trip, working on a group project and more. Here’s how to set up and use Shared Tab Groups.

Safari is Apple’s web browser available across all of its operating systems, carefully designed for Mac, iPhone and iPad for performance, features and tight integration with iCloud. Tab Groups rely on the iCloud service for syncing.

Last year, with macOS Monterey and iOS 15, tab groups made it easier for you to organize your tabs and make these groups available across all of your personal devices. New in macOS Ventura, Safari enables new ways to collaborate with others. You can now share your tab groups with other people, and have changes sync between all invited users.

How to make a Tab Group

Firstly, before you can share a tab group with other people, you need to make one in the first place. To recap: a tab group is a distinct set of tabs that persist inside Safari. You can switch between multiple groups and come back to your tab sets at a later time.

You can make a new tab group in Safari on Mac by selecting ‘File’ -> ‘New Tab Group’. Give the tab group an appropriate memorable name. You can move existing tabs you have open by right-clicking on a tab and picking ‘Move to Tab Group’ -> [Tab Group Name].

How to quickly send a list of links of tabs to someone else

If you don’t need the fancy new collaboration and real-time syncing features, you can quickly share a static snapshot of your tab group by sharing a list of links. To do this, right-click on the tab group in the Sidebar and click ‘Copy Links’. (In Safari on iOS, you can view Tab Groups from the overview screen and long-press to find the Copy Links action.)

This copies a bulleted list of links to your clipboard. You can then make an email, or open any messaging app., and simply paste that list of links into whatever app you need.

What can you do with a Shared Tab Group?

If you want to go beyond a static list of links, Shared Tab Groups is the answer. A normal tab group syncs across all your personal devices with iCloud. A Shared Tab Group extends that concept. A shared tab group extends that by making those same tabs also available to other people, like your friends or work colleagues or whoever you choose to invite.

As part of the shared group, new tabs you add appear to everyone else automatically. The other participants can also add tabs to the group so that you can see them. This is a great tool to aid planning a trip as a family, suggesting recipes for dinner, or collaborating with colleagues on a work project.

How to create a Shared Tab Group

Start with a personal Tab Group. To make it sharable, open the Safari Sidebar and right-click on the Tab Group you want to share. Select ‘Share Tab Group’. This will open a share menu.

Safari will first prompt you to share with contacts through Messages. However, after the Tab Group is Shared, you can open the newly-revealed collaboration menu and simply find an invite link to share. This is a special link that anyone can click on to join the tab group. (Note: This feature only works with Mac, iPhone and iPad users running macOS Ventura, iOS 16, or iPadOS 16 respectively.)

While the Shared Tab Group is active, anyone in the group can view, add or remove tabs in the group. Safari will show a badge avatar indicator in the tab strip when someone else is currently actively viewing it. Notification banners will also pop up to let you know when there is activity in the tab group.

How to manage and end sharing a Tab Group

The creator of the Shared Tab Group is considered the ‘owner’; only the owner can manage who gets access to the tab group. As the owner, click on the Shared Tab Group menu item in the top-right hand side of the toolbar. Click ‘Manage Shared Tab Group’. You can invite more participants, revoke some participants access, and quickly start a group messaging conversation or FaceTime call. Shared Tab Groups work great with FaceTime SharePlay features.

When you are done and ready to finish collaborating, simply press the Stop Sharing button to turn your Shared Tab Group back into a private personal Tab Group. When this happens, all other participants lose access to the tab group entirely.

How to Use Shared Tab Groups in Safari

Planning a trip or buying furniture and need to share a lot of links back and forth? Use the new shared tab groups feature in Safari instead.

Apple introduced major updates to Messages this year in iOS 16, iPadOS 16, and macOS Ventura. Features like Edit or Undo sent messages and SharePlay in Messages have blown up.

But one feature that has gone rather under the radar is Collaboration using the Messages app. The new OS updates make collaborating in various apps like Keynote, Notes, Pages, Numbers, Finder, Reminders, etc. extremely easy. One of the key apps that Collaboration has come to is Safari.

Collaboration in Safari builds upon a feature introduced last year that became an instant hit – Tab Groups. Safari now lets you share these grouped tabs with your friends, family, colleagues, etc., and collaborate on them. Let’s decipher what it all means and how you can use it.

What are Shared Tab Groups in Safari?

Before diving into what Shared Tab Groups mean, let’s have a crash course on Tab Groups to jog your memory if you haven’t been using them prominently until now. Introduced in iOS 15, iPadOS 15, and macOS Monterey, tab groups do exactly what it sounds like.

The feature allows you to group certain tabs together so you can manage the clutter of open tabs in Safari. Simply put, using these groups, you can manage different tabs, say work and personal, and put them in neat, little boxes, metaphorically speaking.

So, instead of managing different open tabs in different windows of Safari – which isn’t even an option on the iPhone – you can organize them in different groups. Switching between these tabs is then a matter of clicking a tab group.

Now, with iOS 16, iPadOS 16, and macOS Ventura, you can even share these tab groups with other people. You know how sometimes when you’re planning a vacation with friends, remodeling your home, or shopping for furniture with your partner, you’re always sharing links back and forth? Shared Tab Groups save that hassle of always having to send links.

You can simply add the link to the tab group you’re sharing with someone, and they can easily check it out. And if they come across a link that they’d like to share with you? They can do the same – add it to the tab group you shared with them. They can also remove a tab from the group.

The shared tab groups will sync across your Apple devices using the same Apple ID.

Using the latest collaboration controls, you can also chat in messages or start a FaceTime call right in Safari. And if someone adds something to the tab group, you’ll get updates in the Messages app, as well.

You also get live updates and see which tabs the other people are looking at. Let’s dive right in and see how to use it.

How to Share a Tab Group?

You can share a tab group from either your iPhone using iOS 16 or Mac using macOS Ventura. And the people you’re sharing the tab group with also need to be on the latest iOS or macOS version on their Apple devices to be able to join.

Sharing a Tab Group from iPhone

On your iPhone, open Safari. Then, tap the ‘Tabs’ icon from the bottom-right corner of the screen.

The tabs will open in a grid view. Tap the downward arrow next to ‘N Tabs’ from the toolbar.

From the overlay menu that appears, tap the tab group you want to share to open it.

When the tab group is in the grid view, tap the ‘Share’ icon in the top-right corner of the screen.

The Share Sheet will open. You’ll see that it has the option ‘Collaborate’ written there. And unlike other apps like Notes, where you can switch to ‘Send a Copy’, that option isn’t available here. Also, Messages is the only app available in the Share Sheet for shared tab groups. Select ‘Messages’ from the Share Sheet to share the invitation to the tab group.

The ‘New Message’ screen will open in an overlay window and the invitation to collaborate on the tab group will load in the message box. Enter the name of the recipient(s) you want to invite in the ‘To:’ field and tap the ‘Send’ button to send the invitation.

To view the collaboration pop-up, tap the ‘Collaboration’ icon in the top-right corner when the tabs are in the grid view.

Sharing a Tab Group from Mac

The process for sharing a tab group is the same for the Mac. The only difference is in how you access the tab group.

Open Safari on your Mac, and click the ‘Sidebar button’ from the left of the address bar if it isn’t already open.

Then, click the tab group you want to share.

Click the ‘Share’ icon at the right of the address bar.

From the pop-up menu, either click the conversation from Siri suggestions if it is available there or click the ‘Messages’ icon to share the tab group.

The Messages app will open and the invitation for the tab group will automatically load in the message box. Enter the names of the contacts in the ‘To:’ field and send the message to begin the collaboration.

You can view the collaboration pop-over from the ‘Collaboration’ icon in the right corner of the address bar.

Using the Shared Tab Groups

Once you’ve sent the invitation using Messages, the collaboration will kick off immediately at your end. When the other person taps the invite, you’ll get a notification telling you that they joined.

Using the shared tab groups is then a walk in the park. All collaboration controls will be available from the collaboration pop-over. You can see the tab(s) other participants are currently viewing as their contact photo will appear on the tab they’re viewing.

All of you can add and remove tabs from the shared tab group as you would normally do from a tab group.

You can also start a chat or FaceTime call in Safari. Open the Collaboration pop-over and click the ‘Message’ icon to chat while viewing the tabs. Messages will open in an overlay window over Safari so it’s easy to get back to Safari after you’re done chatting. To start a FaceTime call, click the ‘Audio’ or ‘Video’ options. You can also share your screen in the FaceTime video call to collaborate more closely on the shared tabs.

To manage access for the shared tab group, like removing someone, or stop sharing it altogether, click the option for ‘Manage Shared Tab Group’ from the collaboration pop-over.

Shared tab groups are a fresh breath of air and something that utilizes the potential of tab groups. You’ll do well to note that you can only share tab groups for collaboration. If you go on to share a simple tab, it’ll send that person the link the old-fashioned way.

How To Set Up Shared Tab Groups

Setting up and using a Shared Tab Group is easy, but some of the options currently feel hidden or at least unintuitive. I am hoping that the user experience will improve before the final release of Safari 16. Once set up, the feature seems to work well, however, so let's break down how to set it up step-by-step.

Using the Shared Tab Group works exactly like using any Tab Group, with the exception that all people in the group can use it. You'll see tabs and pages opened by others and what tab they are currently looking at, and they'll see the same for you. Saving a page as a Favorite will make it appear in the Group Favorites section of the start page for everyone, and pinning a tab will pin it for everyone. This is an interesting and potentially useful feature for collaboration, but be careful to switch back to one of your non-shared tab groups before you do anything that you want to be private.

How to Sync Safari Tabs Across Multiple iOS Devices

When viewing a website with Safari, the website opens in a window called a tab. Through iCloud, these tabs are available to any device running Safari. You just need to enable the sharing of Safari data in the iCloud Settings.

Enable Safari Tab Sharing

To enable Safari data sharing on an iPhone or iPad, open the Settings app and select iCloud.

If iCloud is active, you will see your Apple ID listed in the Account field at the top of the window. If iCloud is not active, you will need to sign in using your Apple ID to sync data with iCloud.

Once iCloud is active, toggle the Safari switch to the ON position to activate Safari data sharing. This will allow tabs to be shared across your devices.

Access Safari Tabs on the iPhone

All the open Safari tabs on your iPhone will appear as stacked windows. Tapping on a tab will open it. If you scroll down through all the tabs, there will be a list of open tabs from your other devices. Tapping a tab from the list will open that tab on your device.

Access Safari Tabs on the iPad

Viewing Safari tabs on the iPad is very similar to the iPhone. The open Safari tabs on your iPad will appear as windows. If you scroll down through all the tabs, there will be a list of open tabs from your other devices. Tapping a window or a tab from the list will open that tab on your iPad.

How to Send Safari Pages From One Device to Another

If you're using Safari on both your Mac and your iPad or iPhone , you can access open tabs across all your devices. This comes in handy when you want to continue your browsing session from your tablet to your laptop or vice versa.

Make Sure You're Logged into iCloud on Both Devices

To pick up where you left off in Safari on another Apple device, you'll need to be logged into the same iCloud account on both devices. Here's how to check, if you're not sure.

1. On the Mac, click iCloud in System Preferences.

2. Make sure Safari is checked in the iCloud window.

3. In iOS , open the Settings app.

4. Tap iCloud and make sure Safari is toggled on.

Now you can see and open the web pages that are currently open on your other Mac or iOS devices. Although this feature has been around for awhile (since iOS 6 and OS X Mountain Lion), it's handy to know if you're new to Safari on either iOS or the Mac.

1. Tap the tabs icon in Safari. It looks like two overlapping squares.

2. Tap a webpage listed under your device's name.

This will open that web page in a new tab in Safari. The tab will still be open on the other device. On the Mac, you can also also hover your mouse pointer over a web page and click the X button to close the site on your other device.

"Hand Off" Web Pages in Safari Between Devices

Apple's Handoff feature, introduced with OS X Yosemite (OS X 10.10) works similarly to iCloud Tabs, but it instead sends only your current open tab in Safari to the other device using Bluetooth. It's more limited than iCloud Tabs, but quicker if you don't need to select which tab to open on your other device.

1. Again, make sure you're signed into the same iCloud account on both devices.

2. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on both your devices. On the Mac, that setting is under System Preferences > Bluetooth. In iOS, it's under the Settings app > Bluetooth.

3a. To hand off on a Mac:

Click the tabs icon in Safari.
Click on the new Handoff icon that appears in left side of the Dock.

3b. To hand off on an iPad or iPhone:

Double-click the Home button to get to the multitasking screen.
Click on the Handoff Safari button at the bottom of the screen.

Share Tab Groups and collaborate in Safari on iPad

In the Safari app, you can share a Tab Group and collaborate with people who use iCloud. You can add and remove people from the Tab Group at any time, and even start a message conversation, phone call, or FaceTime call without leaving Safari. Collaborators can add and remove tabs from the Tab Group, and everyone sees updates in real time.

Everyone you collaborate with must be signed in with their Apple ID , have Safari turned on in iCloud settings , and have two-factor authentication turned on.

Share a Tab Group

Tap Messages, then enter the person or group you want to share it with.

You get activity updates in the Messages conversation when someone makes changes in the Shared Tab Group.

Add and remove people from a Shared Tab Group

Tap Manage Shared Tab Group, then do any of the following:

Remove someone: Tap a name, then tap Remove Access.

Add someone: Tap Share With More People, then tap Messages to invite them.

Stop Sharing with everyone: Tap Stop Sharing.

Start a Messages, audio, or video conversation from Safari

You can start a conversation—using Messages, FaceTime audio, or FaceTime video—with everyone that shares the Tab Group, without leaving Safari.

Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

Safari Tabs not sharing between all three devices

Using iMac with Monterey 12.0.1, iPad Air 4 updated and iPhone 12 updated. iMac will only show tabs from iPhone, not iPad Air 4. Have verified all iCloud settings have share selected for Safari. Have all software updated. It seems like my iPad Air 4 (WiFi) is not "connected" with my other two devices. However, in FINDER on iMac, both devices show as Locations.

How to sync tabs between different browsers.

Many web browsers allow you to sync tabs between devices. For example, Chrome on the desktop syncs with Chrome on your phone, etc. But what about syncing between different browsers? That's a little harder to do, but it's not impossible.

Apple Safari , Google Chrome , Mozilla Firefox , and Microsoft Edge all support syncing tabs across devices in their own way. However, that's not helpful if you use Firefox at work and Chrome at home. They can't talk to each other.

"Tab Session Manager" is an open-source extension that works with Chrome, Edge, and Firefox. It allows you to sync open tabs and windows between these different browsers. We'll show you how it works.

First, you'll need to download the extension for Chrome , Edge , or Firefox . Install it on all the browsers you want to sync together. The setup process is going to be the same on every browser.

Once the Tab Session Manager has been installed, open it from the extensions menu in your browser.

The Tab Session Manager window will open. Click the gear icon to begin setting it up.

There's a lot happening on the Settings page, but we're not going to be messing with all of it. First, give the device a name and check the "Save Device Name to Session" box. This will help identify where the tabs are from.

Next, make sure that "Save the Session Regularly" is checked. You can adjust how frequently you want the tabs to be synced and how many sessions will be stored at a time.

You can also set it so that the tabs are synced when you close a window or exit the browser. How much you have things synced is up to you.

The key ingredient to making this work between different browsers is cloud sync. By signing in with your Google account, you allow sessions to be backed up to your Google Drive and made available on other browsers.

Click "Sign in with Google" to proceed.

A message will inform you that Tab Session Manager is requesting permissions. Using this feature does require you to make some privacy sacrifices. Click "Allow" if you are fine with that.

Google's account sign-in window will open. Select your Google account and proceed to enter your credentials.

During sign-in, you'll be asked to grant Tab Session Manager permission to view and manage the data it creates in your Google Drive. Click "Allow."

That's all you need to do to set up tab syncing. Repeat these steps in every browser where you want to access the tabs.

To use Tab Session Manager, simply click the extension icon from the browser toolbar. You may need to click the sync button on the first launch.

Since we named each browser, you can easily see where the tabs are from. The title of each session is the active tab. Click a session to see all of the tabs to the right.

That's all there is to it. You may occasionally need to click the sync button to force an update, and it will ask you to sign back in to Google after a while. This may not be as simple as a built-in method, but it works if you use multiple browsers.
