Les restaurants asiatiques de Paris, nos bonnes adresses

Saigon d'Antan - restaurant vietnamien - Pho

The 10 Best Restaurants In Paris' Asian Quarter

The skyline of Paris’ Asian Quarter │

The Quartier Asiatique , which also goes by the names Petite Asie or Triangle de Choisy , given the rough shape of its outline between the Avenue de Choisy, Avenue d’Ivry, and Boulevard Masséna in the 13th arrondissement, is known for its high-rise apartment blocks, spectacular annual parade, and plethora of top-quality restaurants. Here you’ll find the best Vietnamese, Laotian, Cambodian, and Chinese food in Paris , as well as some incredible Malaysian, Indonesian, Korean, Japanese, and Indian cuisine.

Another strong contender for the tastiest Laotian food in the capital, Lao Douang Paseuth is a more casual affair, on the opposite side of the neighborhood at the Porte d’Italie. The house specialties have got to be their noodles, prepared in vegetable and meat broths as well as sautéed with the flavors of Southeast Asia. With 48 hours’ notice, they will also prepare a banquet for you in the spacious side room.

Back in the center of the neighborhood, Le Sarawan is the home of lovers of Malaysian and Indonesian cuisine in Paris. If you love spicy foods, this is the place for you but even if you don’t, don’t worry, the staff are ready and waiting to advise the uninitiated. The house specialty is a caramelized pork dish that is a veritable delicacy of this part of the world. The menu also offers a mixture of Vietnamese and Chinese dishes.

Most of the Korean and Japanese restaurants in Paris are found in the 1st arrondissement around the Rue Sainte-Anne, but if you’re in the 13th arrondissement and in the mood for this kind of cuisine then make a beeline for Namoo . Opened in 2002, it’s become famous for its barbecue dishes, but there’s plenty more on the menu to sample besides these.

Paradis Thai

Pad Thai │© echiechi

Just a stone’s throw from Tolbiac metro station, you’ll find the aptly named Paradis Thai . The building’s façade is that of a gigantic temple, and inside there is dining space over two floors. The décor is muted and modern, whilst retaining some traditional Thai charm, and the flavors on the plate are out of this world. This place isn’t to be missed.

1. paris walking food tour with secret food tours.

  • Duration: 3.5 hours
  • Departure: Bd de Clichy, Paris
  • Departure Time: Between 11:30 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Includes: Exceptional Viennoiserie (Notre Dame Tour), galette (savoury crêpe) from Brittany (Notre Dame Tour), French savoury tarts (quiche/paté en croute) and vegetables (Notre Dame Tour), authentic macarons, selection of cheeses , selection of freshly baked breads

Parisian gastronomy is something to be treasured, and I’ll admit that my first couple of times in the city I really sold the capital short. I thought that I’d been trying “authentic” Parisian food the entire time, when I’d been repeatedly falling into tourist traps.

With the Paris Walking Food Tour with Secret Food Tours  adventure, you’ll get to explore 6 different locations with plenty of traditional French fare that had me completely reimagine my view of Parisian cuisine!

What’s really cool about this tour is that you have the option of exploring the food scene of either Montmartre or the Notre Dame neighborhoods (hint: both are amazing).

As both are small group settings, you don’t have to worry about just being another head in the crowd. We felt like we were on a tour with a friend who just happened to be a local expert on the subject!

I of course, had to take both tours, and in Montmarte we were able to try delectable artisanal chocolates and macarons, along with a soft creme, and French bread at a boulangerie.

Expand To See More See Less

I really enjoyed learning about and sampling an array of French cheeses and cured meats, perfectly paired with fine French wines! I even learned the difference between a crepe and galette, which has been a great conversation starter wherever I go!

The Notre Dame tour covers some classic French delicacies and is right by where the entire city of Paris actually came to be, on the Île de la Cité.

We were able to try viennoiseries, oysters, some French tarts, and many other desserts. Along the way, we learned a ton about the history of each area and our guide gave us some amazing recommendations and what to look for in finding the best food joints in Paris.

  • Departure: 40 Rue de Bretagne, 75003 Paris
  • Departure Time: 10:30 AM, 4:00 PM
  • Includes:  Food tastings such as chocolate, macarons, cheeses, and cured meat, alcoholic beverages, local guide, small group tour

Le Marais is one of the most popular destinations for tourists and locals, alike, in Paris. It’s filled with rich history, unique culture, arts, and plenty of delicious food!

The Le Marais Paris The Original District Food and Wine Tasting Tour  is the perfect way to explore it all in a neatly-designed excursion that will bring the district to life right before your eyes.

I’ve been to Le Marais plenty of times, but I have to say that this was the first time that I got to see some hidden gems that I never would’ve experienced on my own.

Our guide did a fantastic job at integrating a history and culture tour with the foodie aspect seamlessly with their own anecdotes and stories from the past.

With a maximum participant limit of just 10 people, it felt like a group of friends were strolling around enjoying some of the most mouthwatering dishes we’ve ever tried with an expert to lead the way!

This felt like such a unique experience, diving into places that are so far off the “touristy” path with 8 to 10 stops at little shops with amazing food.

I believe that the stops vary a bit depending on the start time, but everything is absolutely delicious. We tried plenty of delicious cheeses and cured meats, paired with fine French wines, which taught me so much about how to properly pair them!

Aside from that, we tried organic tepenade, baguettes, and jams, which was perfect for me as I’m a huge fan of breads and sweet, fruity jams!

After that, we headed over to some chocolate shops and learned from famous chocolatiers where we were fortunate enough to learn about and sample the chocolates and Macarons!

It was a lovely way to really get to know the historic Le Marais while trying some of the best foods it has to offer.

3. paris ultimate food tour.

  • Departure: 111 Rue de Turenne, 75003 Paris
  • Departure Time: 10:45 AM, 2:30 & 3:30 PM
  • Includes:  Local English-speaking guide, Expertly guided walking tour, 11 food tastings and 2 half glasses of wine across 8 amazing, family-run establishments in le Marais

This is yet another fantastic food tour of the charming Marais neighborhood, where you’ll get to learn all about the history of the area, the food, and of course, get to sample the goods!

The Paris Ultimate Food Tour  will take you on a gastronomic adventure through the heart of Paris, where you’ll get to explore the city’s rich culinary heritage spanning a wide spectrum of flavors!

Calling a tour the “ultimate” is quite a claim, but the comprehensive approach to how they showcase the diversity of Parisian food really does earn the title. I’d say that if you’re looking for something for the entire family, this thoughtfully curated tour is an excellent option.

The professional guides manage to speak in a way that addresses both seasoned foodies and curious “newbie” travelers in a way that doesn’t exclude anyone.

As it is a half-day tour, you should expect time at each stop to be relatively limited, but this is perfect as we got to go back later and try everything we really loved more in-depth.

I really enjoyed learning about the Marais and how it used to sit just outside Parisian walls, with a temple even built here by the Knights Templar!

As we learned, we were able to indulge in delicious cheeses and charcuterie and local markets, croissants from local bakers, sourdough, crepes, and much more!

Aside from the Chocolate Bar, my favorite stop was at La Boutique Jaune, which opened in 1946 in the heart of the Jewish Quarter – obviously a very tumultuous time in history, given that WWII had just ended.

From brioche to fine cheeses and wines, I felt that this expertly-crafted itinerary did a great job at showing off authentic Parisian flavors and the history that brought them to life.

4. Paris Le Marais Walking Food Tour With Secret Food Tours

  • Departure: 133 Rue Saint-Antoine, 75004 Paris
  • Departure Time: 10:30 AM, 1:00 & 3:30 PM
  • Includes:  Viennoiserie of the day, traditional bread, freshly-made croque-monsieur, selection of French cheeses, secret dish, handmade falafel, chocolates, fine wines, water

Through rich culinary traditions and hidden gastronomic gems, this next tour is another compelling option that’ll teach you all about the culture of past and present-day Marais.

The  Paris Le Marais Walking Food Tour with Secret Food Tours  is the perfect choice if you want to see all those hidden spots that the vast majority of tourists never get to see. What I didn’t know before, is that so many dishes and flavors are unique to Le Marais, and this tour really shows them off.

What I really loved about this excursion was just how intimate it was, offering personalized attention and interaction with not only our guide but the various vendors at each stop.

The warm and welcoming atmosphere (something people don’t often relate to Parisians) really enriched the experience and made me feel more open to learning about the craft and energy of Le Marais.

To start things off, we had to enjoy our morning traditionally “French” with a fresh coffee and buttery soft croissant, which were simple but absolutely delicious.

The bakery or “boulangerie” stop was definitely one of my favorites, as we got to try plenty of French breads (which put those that I’d tried previously to shame).

After we were all fueled up, we strolled through the charming streets to the city’s oldest covered market to check out the array of different stalls and try tasty cheeses with wine.

At this point, we’d learned quite a bit about local culture and Parisian history, which only enriched the tasting experience further.

We then made a stop at a local brasserie which made it feel like had stepped right into some kind of French movie, with a lovely ambience and a delicious croque monsieur to snack on.

No afternoon is complete without trying some artisanal chocolates and French macarons, along with a “special secret dish” that you’ll have to try yourself!

5. Montmartre Food Tour with a Local Chef

  • Duration: 3.25 hours
  • Departure: 31 Rue Lepic, 75018 Paris
  • Departure Time: 10:300 AM, 3:30 PM
  • Includes: Savor baguette, macarons, amazing cheese, charcuterie, choux à la crème, 3 glasses of French wine, scenic viewpoints, local expert guide + a pdf Paris guide for food lovers.

You know, whenever you take a food tour, you really have to wonder about the background of the person guiding you around.

However, if you have a local professional chef leading the way, you can rest assured you’re in safe and competent hands.

With the  Montmartre Food Tour with a Local Chef  offers an immersive experience that will not only take you through some of the most amazing eateries in Paris, but will also teach you what to look out for in order to find an authentic and high-quality restaurant.

Montmarte is famous for its art, bohemian feel, cobblestone passageways, and this big white church you may have seen or heard of.

However, did you know it’s also a huge “foodie” scene boasting top-notch wine bars and fine-dining restaurants ranging from quick bites to haut-cuisine? It definitely offers a unique perspective to Parisian cuisine, with a professional chef there to add engaging commentary and insider insights!

We started with Le Grenier a Pain, which is known for its traditional baguettes, sourdough, pies, eclairs, and is so well-reputed that it’s even earned UNESCO World Heritage status!

I enjoyed a delicious pain au chocolate before we headed ot Boucherie Jacky Gaudin which offers some of the best French meats. I was admittedly a bit hesitant, but I did try rillettes which consistent of expertly-cooked goose meat.

Our visit to Belvedere was simply breathtaking, with amazing views of Paris – we got some time to soak it all in while taking plenty of photos and videos.

Next up, we tried a ton of carefully-selected cheeses and explored one of the oldest cabarets in the city! I noticed that on this tour we got to try many more pastries and sweets than the others, so if you have a sweet tooth make sure to put this tour at the top of your list!

6. The Award-Winning Private Food Tour of Paris: 6 or 10 Tastings

  • Duration:  3 hours
  • Departure: 112 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine, 75012 Paris
  • Departure Time: Between 11:00 AM – 6:30 PM
  • Includes:  Private personalized tour, local foodie guide, 6 or 10 food and drink tastings (depending on option selected), veggie alternatives available

This is one of the best tours in my opinion, for those who are visiting Paris for the first time and would like a “taster” of the local cuisine while avoiding tourist traps. As it’s a private tour, it will be completely customizable so you can provide input for your specific interests!

The Award-Winning Private Food Tour of Paris: 6 or 10 Tastings  is an experience that will reflect your unique palate and interests while still showcasing Parisian cuisine in an authentic way.

I already had quite a booked itinerary planned, so it was nice that they offered so many different start times. We were also offered 2 different tour lengths: either 6 or 10 food and drink tastings, depending on your preferences.

I chose the 10-tasting tour so I could really enjoy the full experience and try all of the dishes and drinks to offer the best review possible.

The tour started off by meeting our guide at the Marché d’Aligre, which was quite impressive with the huge variety of different vendors from beautiful flowers to fresh French cheeses.

Our guide did a great job at selecting tastings based on what I’d told them I was most interested in, offering exclusive knowledge of the city along the way. I had a great time in Pletzl, which is the Jewish quarter that boasts an interesting background and tasty dishes.

We stopped by Hotel de Ville which not only is the residence of Paris’ mayor but also holds plenty of large events – we tried a delicious quiche Lorraine and crepes here!

I was able to enjoy plenty of other traditional French dishes with my family in a way that everyone was entertained and having a great time. It’s perfect for those who want to maximize their time and really want to learn a lot in a relatively short timeframe.

7. Montmartre Hill Sweet & Savory French Gourmet Food & Wine Tasting Tour

  • Duration: 3 to 3.5 hours
  • Departure: 5 Pl. Blanche, 75009 Paris
  • Departure Time: 10:30, 11:30 AM, 2:30, 4:00 PM
  • Includes:  Alcoholic beverages, food tasting such as macarons, cheeses and cured meats, local guide, small group tour

My entire life I’d heard so much about how the French eat, from friends and family to watching things related to French cuisine in cinema.

It seemed like some kind of mystery, and the typical touristy restaurants definitely don’t provide an authentic representation of French food. However, the Montmartre Hill Sweet & Savory French Gourmet Food & Wine Tasting Tour definitely does, taking you through 10 delicious food stops!

I’m a big history buff, and I truly enjoyed the way our guide managed to incorporate plenty of history lessons and fun facts throughout each stop we made.

I felt like it was a great balance between a traditional history tour and a dedicated food tour, with our guide clearly displaying their insider knowledge. I didn’t know all that much about Montmartre before the tour, but it was a blast getting to learn about its artistic and food scene!

We started out having a typically Parisian breakfast consisting of a little fresh coffee and a soft and warm croissant, while eating through an amazing boulangerie!

The vendors and owners were all so friendly, which made us feel that much more at home and open to learning about each location.

We also got to sample plenty of local treats ranging from cured meats and cheeses to sweet jams, handmade chocolates, and much more.

I feel like every food tour should combine sweet and savory, but you’d be surprised at how many don’t! As we strolled along and ate, we were given plenty of time to make stops at significant landmarks such as Moulin Rouge and the Sacre Coeur Basilica, along with the city’s only urban vineyard!

I couldn’t have asked for more with this Paris food tour, and I hope to do it again very soon!

Should You Take a Food Tour in Paris?

Friends enjoying one of the best fod tours in Paris

Short answer: Absolutely!

French cuisine is one of the world’s finest (though personally, I’d put Italian at the top of the list). Fine dining and Paris go hand-in-hand. Many gastronomic words used in common parlance derive from French.  Restaurant  goes back to the 15th Century, deriving from the French verb’ restaurer,’ to restore oneself. The word Café, from the Arabic for vigor,  Kaweh , which morphed into café via French explorers returning from the Ottoman Empire in the 17th Century. Even the word menu originates in French, meaning small, detailed.

So, If oysters, champagne, falafel, and beef bourguignon make you swoon, then you’ve found yourself in the right place. Food tours are all about immersing traveler’s into the local culture and history. On a Paris food tour, you’ll hear the history of Paris told through food, but more importantly, you’ll get a taste of Paris’s best culinary experiences.

You'll discover why Montmartre, once the home of Van Gogh, Toulouse-Lautrec, Picasso, and other starving artists, has become a favorite of some of the city's best food artisans, markets, and bakeries as you sample their creations on the small-group 3-Hour Montmartre Cheese, Wine, and Pastry Tour.

What you'll eat:   As you walk along the cobblestone lanes past terraced cafes and markets brimming with fresh produce, your guide will take you to the best spots to taste the exceptional quality of the local products.  You'll sip wine as you sample local cheeses and charcuterie, enjoy freshly-made French pastries, and savor incredible  hand-crafted chocolates.

What you'll see:   Along the way, your guide will show you Montmartre's most famous sights:   Moulin Rouge, Sacré Coeur, the hillside vineyard, historical windmills, and the private mansions tucked away among the neighborhood's picturesque hillsides.

"Tour was so fun and interesting!  Delicious cheese, wine and pastries.  We couldn't eat dinner."

2.  Indulge in Pastry and Chocolate Tastings in Saint-Germain-des-Prés

As you stroll through the neighborhood's picture-perfect streets and narrow lanes, you'll make eight stops along the way to sample the fine chocolates, macarons, and pastries and even have a cup of tea, coffee, or hot chocolate.

What you'll experience:  As you savor all the different confections, you'll learn about the history of this famous neighborhood and its culinary artisans, including some of France's best chocolate and pastry chefs.  You'll even visit famed chocolatier Debauve & Gallais, a favorite of Marie-Antoinette.

Bonus:  You get a wonderful tour of the neighborhood as you explore its hidden passages, boutiques, galleries, and beautiful churches such as Saint Germain des Prés and Saint Sulpice.

"Far exceeded our expectations.  Parisian food is amazing!  Best chocolates in the world!!!"

3.  Enjoy Specialty Cheeses, Wine Pairings, & Desserts in the Marais

Chevre (goat cheese) display in a Paris fromagerie (cheese shop)

A cool feature of the Marais Walking Food Tour is that your guide takes you through off the usual tourist path in this uber-trendy neighborhood to visit the best artisan shops, bakeries, and markets.  You'll savor an explosion of flavors as you sample specialty French cheeses paired with wine, flavorful cured ham and charcuterie, fresh pastries, and a variety of confections.  Note the addresses as you'll want to return on your own!

Bonus:  Along the way, you'll also see a lot of the hidden corners of the Marais - superb art galleries, unique boutiques, hidden gardens, bistros where you'll want to return for a meal, and fascinating architecture.

"Our guide knew so much about food, wine, and Paris.  We loved his passion, and we could have never discovered all these spots on our own.  This is the third Get Your Guide Paris food tour we've done on this trip and each one has been top quality."

ABOUT THE LEFT BANK

Our fantastic Left Bank food tour moves between both the Latin Quarter and Saint-Germain neighborhoods along the beautiful, tree-lined Boulevard Saint-Germain. The Latin Quarter is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Paris, and the city’s intellectual center. It also has the city’s best cheese shop, among other delights. Saint-Germain is filled with historic cafés, independent bookstores, art and antique galleries, fashion boutiques, and exceptional food shops. Some of the best chocolate and pastry shops in Paris (and therefore the world?) can be found in Saint-Germain.

The Paris by Mouth Left Bank food tour

ABOUT THE LEFT BANK FOOD TOUR

This tour varies by day and what’s open, but nearly everything we taste on this tour has won a “best of” prize of some sort. We’ll usually begin our tour with a flaky and buttery croissant that was voted the best in Paris. We’ll visit a cheese shop run by a fromager who has earned the Meilleur Ouvrier de France (MOF) title – the highest rank for an artisan in France – and later taste our cheeses with paired wines. We’ll also taste chocolate and pastries from prize-winning producers. You can plan on visiting 5 shops of exceptional quality – these vary to reflect the season, your guide’s expertise, and your cravings – and eating enough that you won’t need a meal soon after. This tour doesn’t feature charcuterie, so it’s a good option for vegetarians (omnivores aren’t going to miss the meat).

* Most of our tastings on this route take place in a beautiful vaulted wine cellar and we must descend (and later climb) one flight of stairs. It’s a beautiful space, but not ideal for guests with concerns about mobility. If you’d prefer to avoid any stairs, we suggest the North Marais or East Saint-Germain tour.

Nyc migrant crisis costs will crack eye-popping $5 billion on shelters, security and food — amount could double by 2025.

The financial hits from the migrant crisis keep on coming.

New York City has likely surpassed $5 billion in spending on services for migrants — including nearly $2 billion alone on housing the scores of new arrivals flooding into the Big Apple, according to city data.

The eye-popping figures, listed on the city’s online asylum-seeker funding tracker , shows the city overall spent $4.88 billion combined through fiscal years 2023 and ‘24. Based on the rate of spending, the city likely exceeded more than $112 million since the start of the new fiscal year beginning July 1, or will soon, cracking $5 billion.

Group of migrants standing in line at the Roosevelt Hotel, New York City

Mayor Eric Adams’ administration has even projected the cost could double, hitting $10 billion over the three year period ending June 30, 2025.

The money spent so far includes:

  • $1.98 billion on housing and rent.
  • About $2 billion on services and supplies.
  • Nearly $500 million on food and medical costs.
  • Another $500 million on IT, administrative and other costs.

The NYPD alone has spent $21 million on public safety and security costs amid mayhem breaking out in and around the city-funded migrant shelters. The cost of the crisis equals nearly the entire NYPD budget of $5.75 billion.

The city Department of Homeless Services recently posted two more contracts this week totaling $40 million combined to contractors to provide services to migrants at hotels turned into emergency shelters .

Even hotels in the heart of the Broadway tourist district have been converted into emergency shelters through contracts the city inked with the Hotel Association of New York City .

Housing Works was awarded a $13.4 million contract to aid migrants at the City View Inn, at 3317 Greenpoint Avenue in Long Island.

A worker answering the phone there Tuesday said the City View has been a shelter for “nearly two years” and is still not taking reservations for lodging.

The city pays for all the rooms.

A second $26.3 million contract was awarded to the DC-based Project Redirect to assist migrants at Spring Hills Suites by Marriott at 140-35 Queens Boulevard.

“We’re not functioning at a hotel right now,” a worker there said.

The city has spent $1.98 billion on housing and rent for migrants, according to the data

The city is currently caring for more than 63,900 migrants through 210 sites in the shelter system.

Asked about hotels still acting as emergency shelters two years into the crisis, Adams’ chief of staff Camille Joseph Varlack said, “This is not a New York City issue or even a United States issue, this is a worldwide issue.”

“We’ve had the opportunity to speak to other cities who are expecting and experiencing migration and we expect that to continue between wars and climate change and all the other issues,” Varlack told reporters Tuesday about the crisis.

Varlack said city staffers were working to help move migrants out of hotels and to other locations.

There’s been a public backlash to shelters in many parts of the city, whether it be hotels or other shelter sites and encampments at Floyd Bennett Field, Randalls Island and the Creedmoor Psychiatric Center.

Adams also said there is still the challenge of moving migrants from a “shelter-type setting” to housing when many still don’t have official documents to be legally employed.

Some 212,000 asylum seekers have flowed through the system since the spring of 2022, according to City Hall.

Last week — from Aug. 5 to 11 — more than 700 new migrants entered the city’s shelter system. But that number is way down from the peak of 4,000.

City Hall reps said the administration’s actions has slashed the projected increase in migrant costs by more than $2 billion.

During his weekly press briefing Tuesday, Adams said the migrant crisis has become more manageable, declaring the “worst is behind us” but cautioning that “we’re not out of the woods.”

“I do believe we are going to see people starting to exhale. Our fingers are crossed but we put in smart policies.” Adams, citing 30-day shelter limits for individuals and 60-day stays for families.

“We went from 4,000 down to I think this week we’re around 700. That is a huge, huge drop. I have to say there was a moment where I did not see that light, or that light was a train coming right at us.”

He credited the shelter limits as well as drop in border crossings with lessening the head count and curbing astronomical costs.

“We were criticized for it but I think when people look back over this period they will see it was one of the most significant things we could do.” the mayor said.

“People should not grow up in shelters.”

Adams said the Big Apple should take a bow.

“We were inundated in the beginning of this. To be able to do what we have done shows a real message of resiliency to the city,” Hizzoner said.

“This is a real New York story. We need to document this story.”

When asked if the worst is over, Adams said, “We’re not out of the woods. We’re managing.”

“I can only say I hope the worst is behind us. We’re not out of the woods. I want to be clear on that,” he said. “We still have to deal with the small number of violent gang members who are in our city. We still have to monitor them.”
