Rules for travelling to the USA from the UK explained: tests, vaccines and more

New York

The US eased travel restrictions for visitors from the UK in November 2021, with rules around testing eased in June 2022. Find out what all this means for your trip.

Can I travel to the USA?

Yes. Since November 2021, international travellers from the UK have been able to visit the USA. Between November 2021 and May 2023, this was on the condition that travellers were fully vaccinated. We were on the first flight out in early November 2021, so have first-hand experience of the process.

The first British Airways flight to New York from London

What Covid tests do I need to travel to the USA?

As of June 2022, the requirement for air travellers to show proof of a negative test to enter the USA has been dropped.

"We are able to take this step because of the tremendous progress we've made in our fight against the virus. We have made lifesaving vaccines and treatments widely available and these tools are working to prevent serious illness and death, and are effective against the prevalent variants circulating in the US and around the world," a senior official said in a statement.

West Village in New York

Do I need to be vaccinated to go to the USA?

At the time of writing (2 May 2023), yes – most international air travellers need to show proof of being fully vaccinated to enter the USA. Any vaccine approved for use by the World Health Organisation or by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will be accepted, including AstraZeneca, Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech and others. The final vaccine dose must have been administered at least 14 days before travelling.

From 11 May 2023, the US will end the vaccination requirements for interntational travellers. This is when the coronavirus public health emergency ends.

Can unvaccinated people travel to the USA?

Until 11 May, to enter the USA unvaccinated you must have been granted an exception or be a US Citizen, US National, or US Lawful Permanent Resident. You can find out if you qualify as an exception to the rules by reading the list outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) .

After 11 May, you don't need to be vaccinated to travel to the USA.

Do I need to wear a face mask in the USA?

Rules on wearing masks differ in each state and in different settings, so it's important to check before you travel, however there are currently no states requiring people to wear masks in public spaces. You may be required to wear a mask in certain settings, such as healthcare facilities.

General planning information for uk visitors.

By VISIT FLORIDA staff

Things you need to know before your Florida vacation.

Florida's temperatures generally average from the mid-50s to mid-80s Fahrenheit (about 12 30 Celsius). Temperatures in the northern part of the state occasionally drop to freezing in winter, while South Florida's subtropical areas rarely see frosts or freezes. Summers are very warm and humid, though frequent, brief rain showers provide a refreshing break. The "rainy season" lasts from May through October. Hurricanes occasionally make landfall in Florida during this period; communities within the state have effective emergency plans to assist residents and visitors alike. Though some rainfall does occur at other times of year, late fall, winter and spring are usually sunny, dry and temperate.

What to Pack

Bring cool, comfortable clothing, shorts and casual shirts, sundresses and, of course, bathing suits, tops and sandals. Keep in mind that topless sunbathing and thong-backed bikinis are prohibited in most parts of Florida. Be sure to bring plenty of sunscreen, sunglasses, hats and visors to protect you from the sun. For evening outings, "resort casual" attire (trousers, collared shirts, cotton dresses) is acceptable most places, though gentlemen might consider packing a light sports coat if a more formal evening is planned. While Florida's climate is generally warm all year round, it's a good idea to bring a light jacket if you are travelling here in December through February. Pack insect repellent and an umbrella or a light mackintosh during the rainy season. Don't worry if you forget anything - Florida stores can outfit you with anything you need.

Most of Florida is on Eastern Standard Time, which is five hours behind Greenwich Mean Time; the exception being part of Northwest Florida, from just east of Panama City Beach to Pensacola. This part of Florida is in the Central Standard Time zone (one hour earlier). Daylight savings time is in effect from the first Sunday in April through the last Sunday in October. During this period, clocks are set one hour later to maximise daylight hours.

Visitors over 21 years of age entering the U.S. may bring 1 litre (2 pints) of alcohol, gifts worth up to $100, and 200 cigarettes, 100 cigars or 3 pounds (1.4 kilograms) of tobacco, without paying duty. Cuban cigars and other products of Cuban origin may not be brought into the U.S. All food must be declared to inspectors. A number of food items are prohibited including cheese, fresh fruit and meat products.

There is no limit on the amount of money you may bring with you. However, if you are travelling with more than $10,000 in currency, travellers cheques or other monetary instruments, you must declare it to a Customs Inspector. Failure to do so can result in the confiscation of your money. If two or more people are filing a joint declaration, they should declare the total amount of currency they are carrying. It is not necessary to declare credit cards.

The dollar is the basic unit of American currency. It is divided into 100 cents. The most common bills are $1, $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100. Older bills are green and mostly look similar, distinguished primarily by their portrait of a different U.S. President. Newer bills integrate different colors, background designs, watermarks and other security features. Commonly used coins are the penny (1 cent), nickel (5 cents), dime (10 cents) and quarter (25 cents). Foreign currency is not accepted. You can exchange currency at most major airports, banks, at private exchange offices such as American Express or Thomas Cook, and at some hotels. Foreign currency exchange offices at international airports are usually open until the last international flight comes in, Monday through Saturday. Most banks are open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and some are also open on Saturday mornings. Travellers cheques are still the safest way to travel with large amounts of money and they are accepted at most locations. Credit cards are widely accepted by hotels, shops, restaurants and car hire companies. Be aware that sales tax (usually 6 to 7 percent) will be added to most prices at shops, restaurants and attractions.

Lost or stolen credit cards or travellers cheques

To report missing credit cards, travellers cheques or travellers cheque cards, call the corresponding freephone numbers:

Credit Cards

American Express: 800-528-4800 Diners Club: 800-234-6377 Discover: 800-347-2683 MasterCard: 800-826-2181 Visa: 800-336-8472

You'll find Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) in banks, grocery stores, in shopping malls and at many petrol stations.

Using the telephone

To place a call from your hotel, you often must first dial an access code. Check the instructions on the phone, or ask the concierge or front desk clerk for assistance. To reach the police, fire brigade or ambulance, dial 9-1-1. This number is only to be used in a true emergency. Most long-distance and international calls can be dialled directly from any phone. For calls within the United States and to Canada, dial 1 followed by the area code and the seven-digit number. For international calls, dial 0-1-1 followed by the country code, city code, and the telephone number of the person you are calling. Calls to area codes 800, 888, 866, and 877 are freephone numbers, but a hotel access charge may still apply. For reversed-charge or collect calls and for person-to-person calls, dial 0 (zero, not the letter "O") followed by the area code and number you want. Specify to the operator that you are calling collect or person-to-person, or both. If your operator-assisted call is international, ask for the overseas operator. For directory assistance within the U.S., dial 4-1-1.

Electricity

The U.S. uses 110-120 volts, 60 cycles is standard. If your small appliances use 220-240 volts, you'll need to bring a voltage converter and a plug adapter with two flat parallel pins.

Weights and measures

The U.S. uses a partial metric and English system of weights and measures. Metric equivalents are: 1 inch = 2.5 centimetres 1 foot (12 inches) = 0.3 meter 1 yard (3 feet) = 0.9 meter 1 mile (5280 feet) = 1.6 kilometres 60 miles per hour = 100 kilometre per hour 1 ounce = 28 grams 1 pound (16 ounces) = 0.45 kilogram 1 quart (liquid) = 0.9 litre.

Banks, government offices and post offices are closed on the national Holidays listed below. In addition, some attractions and many stores, restaurants and museums may be closed or have limited hours (call ahead to check). January 1 (New Year's Day) the third Monday in January (Martin Luther King Jr. Day) the third Monday in February (Presidents' Day) the last Monday in May (Memorial Day) July 4 (Independence Day) the first Monday in September (Labour Day) the second Monday in October (Columbus Day) November 11 (Veterans' Day) the fourth Thursday in November (Thanksgiving Day) December 25 (Christmas)

Dining out/tipping

Some restaurants stop serving dinner as early as 9 or 10 p.m. Call first if you are planning to dine at this time or later. In the U.S., tipping is a customary reward for good service. In restaurants, bars and nightclubs, tip servers a gratuity of 15% of the total bill (before tax) for good service, or 20% for excellent service. Some restaurants include a gratuity in the amount of the bill so be sure to check or ask your server so you do not overpay. Tipping is also appropriate at a beauty salon or spa (haircut, manicure, massage, etc., at 15% of total bill); bellhop at hotel or airport ($1 per suitcase); valet ($2 when he delivers your car); taxi driver (15% of fare) and housekeeping service if you are staying at an upscale hotel ($1 - $2 per day of your stay). On package tours, guides and drivers usually get $10 per day from the group as a whole: check whether this has already been figured into your cost and pre-paid. For local sightseeing tours, you may individually tip the driver or guide if he or she has been helpful or informative; the amount is at your discretion.

Smoking Policy

Smoking is illegal in buses and coaches, trains, taxis and in most public buildings in Florida, including establishments that serve food; however, many restaurants have outdoor smoking areas. Hotel rooms are designated as "smoking" and "non-smoking"; request the room type of your choice when making reservations. Bed & Breakfasts generally do not permit smoking inside.

Alcohol Laws

To purchase or consume alcohol in the State of Florida you must be 21 years of age. Proof of age is often requested, so carry photo identification that gives your date of birth. Some grocery stores sell beer and wine (and will also request a photo ID). It is illegal to carry open containers of alcohol in your car or any public area that isn't zoned for alcohol consumption, and it is illegal to drive while intoxicated. Choose a "designated driver" in your group (someone who will abstain from drinking alcohol) who will be responsible for driving you home.

Shopping malls are generally open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and Saturdays; many large shopping complexes and department stores are open on Sundays from noon to 6 p.m. Smaller, privately owned stores typically open between 9 and 10 a.m. and close between 5 and 6 p.m. from Monday through Saturday.

Travellers with disabilities

Find helpful links and information on travelling with a variety of special needs at www.sath.org, the website of the Society for Accessible Travel & Hospitality, or call the Florida chapter at 561-361-0017.

Disabled parking permits

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles will honor any special license plates or parking permits issued to a disabled person by foreign country that issues disabled parking permits that display the international symbol of accessibility. For more information on this and other driving related questions, visit the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles website .

Health tips

  • Protect yourself from the rays of the sun by wearing sunglasses and by applying sunscreen at least 30 minutes before exposure. Use a sunscreen with a Sun Protection Factor of at least SPF 15; SPF 45 for children. Remember to reapply several times during the day, especially after swimming or exercise.
  • Dehydration, as well as sunburn, can occur with prolonged exposure to the heat and sun, even in Florida's winter months. Try to arrange most of your outdoor activities before 10 a.m. and after 2 p.m. If you plan to be out all day, carry bottled water. (All drinking water is potable, including tap water.)
  • Avoid direct contact with wild animals. When walking in wilderness areas, stay on paths. Be cautious near lakes and ponds since they are prime habitats for alligators. Never feed an alligator or other wild animal.
  • Use insect repellent in woodsy areas and parks.

Safety tips

  • Always lock your car. Never leave purses, wallets, luggage or other valuables in sight. Lock them in the trunk if you won't be carrying them with you. At night, try to park under a streetlight. Do not leave the car keys inside the car.
  • Keep jewelry, cash, cameras, airline tickets, passports and other travel documents and valuables in a hotel safe and keep hotel room keys out of sight. Don't forget to lock your door.
  • Carry credit cards and travellers cheques instead of large amounts of cash.
  • At public beaches, look for the beach flag system which alerts you to unsafe surf conditions. (Coloured flags on Florida beaches are designed to promote safety by warning beachgoers of water conditions. Blue or green represents calm waters and safe swimming; yellow means mild hazards, including light surf or currents; red warns of highly hazardous conditions; a double-red flag indicates the waters are closed to the public; and purple means marine pests present, which might include jellyfish, stingrays or dangerous fish. The absence of a flag does not necessarily mean the water is safe. Check with a lifeguard to be sure.)

Emergencies

To reach the police, ambulance, or fire brigade in a true emergency, dial 9-1-1 from any phone. For less urgent requests, call the local non-emergency number for the police. Visitors may want to contact the following sources for more information:

What to Pack for Florida (if You’re British)

‘Do you know what to pack for Florida?’ I asked my British husband as we prepared to leave London for his first trip to my home state.

‘Pants and socks,’ he said.

Packing for a trip to Florida is never tough for me. No matter how long I live in London as an American, I always know what to pack when I make a trip to my home state, no matter what time of year it is.

However, I realised at that moment that British people don’t really know what to expect for their first trip to the Sunshine State. Often, you have misconceptions of the reality of Florida life. (We have bugs, reptiles, sharks, intense humidity, tornadoes and laser-like sunshine)

So, let me help!

You’re going to need more than just the typical warm weather basics. Below is a packing list for Florida. It’s followed with reasons why you’ll want to make sure you have these things in your suitcase when you arrive!

When specific brands are mentioned, there is clarification on why I recommend them later too.

What to Pack for Florida: Pre-planning List

  • Bug Repellant ( Avon: Skin So Soft )
  • Sun Cream ( Hawaiian Tropic )
  • Paracetemol
  • Motion Sickness Tablets and/or armbands
  • Waterproof Bag and Phone Case
  • Portable Misting Fan
  • Rain Ponchos
  • Reusable Water Bottle
  • Hats (Baseball Caps- NFL )
  • Cheap Sunglasses
  • Inflatable Armbands
  • Beach Cooler and Beer Koozies
  • GoPro and Water Dome

Multiple Bathing Costumes

  • Casual Attire (see below for what works and what doesn’t !)

(updated July 2024)

You can see all of my specific product recommendations easily on my Travel Necessities on Amazon .

What to Pack for Florida: Bug Repellant

Florida is crawling with bugs (and reptiles, but there’s not a damn thing you can do about that in terms of what to pack). Whether they are mosquitoes, love bugs or ‘no see ’ems’, the little suckers are everywhere.

Bring bug repellant in your suitcase. Don’t wait until it’s too late. You will ruin your holiday if you end up with welts the size of Florida oranges on your body.

And, just in case you don’t believe me about the bugs, look below. I took this picture of the screen of my mother’s porch when I was in Florida one August. Notice all the critters?

A list of what to pack and NOT to pack for British tourists going on a Florida holiday

What to Pack for Florida: Suntan Lotion

Don’t get on a plane to Florida without suntan lotion (or cream, as you call it) if you’re British! Florida sunshine is powerful and intense. One hour in summer could give you blisters.

If you’re an Englishman, like my husband, you don’t tan. Instead you get super red, super fast if you even look outside on a sunny day.

florida travel uk

Why? The creator of the brand (Ron Rice) was a Floridian and rooted himself in my home town Daytona Beach. So, it’s one of those ‘when in Rome’ deals for us. The company obviously knows about Florida sun and how to cope with it.

I recommend starting with a high, water resistant SPF 50 . You’ll thank me later.

What to Pack for Florida: Drugs

You don’t want to take time to weed out what to buy when you’re in trouble. Put some Paracetamol in your carry on suitcase. We don’t have the brand in the US.

Our equivalent, I guess, is Tylenol or Aleve. As an American living in London, I never buy Paracetamol because it doesn’t work for me. You might experience the same phenomenon with American products when you visit, so pack what you know works for you.

If you’re curious, other items we bring to the UK that they don’t sell here are Melatonin, hydrocortisone cream, rubbing alcohol and Secret deodorant.

Further, if you’re being tossed around a lot on our theme park rides, you might need some motion sickness tablets . Consider some travel sickness bands ahead of time.

What to Pack for Florida: Theme Parks

Aside from motion sickness items, you will want to make sure you have some waterproof things for your Florida holiday too. It’s not just resort pool and beaches that are of concern. Many theme parks have tons of rides that include big splash zones.

The last thing you want to do is replace your mobile while away. Get a waterproof phone case . A little bag our pouch for other things to keep from water is a good idea too.

Anyone who has waited in 2 hours queues in the Florida summer humidity knows that a portable misting fan is priceless. While the parks do their best to keep you in covered areas with large ceiling fans, there is only so much that is possible. Help yourself by being prepared.

That being said, if it’s a typical summer thunderstorm that happens mid-day- you might want a rain poncho to avoid getting completely soaked. To be fair, this is an item you could wait to see if you need.

Candlelight Concert- things to do in london

But should the skies open up suddenly (as they often do in Florida) to a monsoon, you will want to be able to act fast. You can guarantee the theme park will charge a lot for this hot commodity.

And, then there’s the reusable water bottle . Certain brands have gone viral on TikTok in the past year, especially in America. You can get a trendy one, or cheap and practical. Either way, being dehydrated due to the sweat from Florida heat can put you in jeopardy of a heat stroke.

Make sure you stay hydrated and play it safe with your own bottle. Unlike London however, I wouldn’t drink tap water in Florida. Make sure you are always refilling it with filtered water from a cooler.

What to Pack for Florida: Beach and Pool Gear

There is no doubt you’ll want to hit at least one of our countless beaches when you are in Florida. So, there’s a few things you must have to be ready for your beach trips.

Bring at least one. In America, we love our baseball caps. If you want to look like a ‘Yank’, wear one . In Florida you can wear any NFL team that you like. Well, if you’re in Jacksonville or Miami, you might be safer with the local team. If you’ve been to the NFL Games in London, it’s likely you may have one of these already!

University teams have big rivalry. Naturally, since I went to Florida State University (FSU), I’m suggesting supporting the Seminoles. But, you would need to buy one of those baseball caps when you arrive. The colours are garnet and gold.

The alternative is University of Florida (UF). Their colours are orange and blue. I shouldn’t have to say anymore!

When you’re choosing a hat to pack for Florida, consider wind. If you’re going to be beachside, boating or at a theme park, make sure your hat will be secure in these conditions.

Florida winter days are much longer than England’s. If you visit during this season, you’ll have far more time to wear them compared to being in London where it gets dark at 4:00pm. Although, it generally gets dark in the summer around 8pm.

I think a cheap pair of sunglasses is smart. There’s too many opportunities to lose them so don’t bring ones that are endearing. However, if you’re planning a luxury holiday in South Beach, you’ll want to flex those high street designer names.

Swim SAFETY for Kids

We use inflatable armbands (In Florida we call them ‘swimmies’ or ‘floogles’) for children. Bring these for your children who are too little (or don’t know how) to swim on their own.

A Beach Cooler

Specifically for packing purposes, you should bring a Beach Cooler . You will need one to keep your beer cool in the Florida heat. Additionally, we have things called ‘ beer koozies ‘ that keep chilled beer insulated.

Gopro & Water Dome

If you are going to be near water at all (which is tough not to do!), you’ll want a GoPro too capture the video. And, the best way to get beautiful underwater footage is with a water dome . I like this one because it has a hand strap.

There’s nothing worse than putting on a wet bathing costume. So bring two or three with you. One can dry on a day while you wear the other.

And we call them ‘bathing suits’. You may get some giggles from locals if you say costumes.

What to Pack for Florida: Clothes

Florida humidity is excruciating in the months of May-September, even at 6:00am. Be sure to pack lightweight clothes to wear. Don’t even put jeans in your suitcase if you’re going on a Florida holiday during that time.

Regarding shoes, flip flops are part of our lifestyle. We literally value them like art.

What to Pack for Florida if You're a British Tourist Going on Holiday

Bring a pair to match every one of your outfits, if you can. But avoid the colour black for everything. Dark colours will get too toasty in the sun and defeat the purpose of keeping cool.

And be sure to put sun cream on the tops of your feet too! It’s a painful place to be burned and often is forgotten in application.

You’ll want sensible shoes for theme parks, so make sure you have at least one pair of trainers. Those 8 hour days of waiting in queue after queue can be brutal on your back. You’ll be happy you have the support.

florida travel uk

Bring some smart clothes in case you decide to visit a nice restaurant, but make sure you have plenty of shorts and cool clothes! Casual smart in Florida for men is a shirt with a collar and ‘khakis’ or ‘Dockers’. The later is a brand of casual cotton trousers that are popular.

Shorts are acceptable in nearly all places. We don’t really have many fine dining options compared to London or the rest of the UK.

What NOT to Pack for Florida: A Speedo

I couldn’t end this Florida packing list with integrity if I didn’t include the ONE thing you absolutely CANNOT pack for Florida, boys.

What to Pack for Florida: Final Thoughts

There you have it! It’s a good thing Mr. Sunny (my husband) has me to guide him through what to pack for Florida, so he doesn’t end up with just ‘pants and socks’ in his suitcase. Oh, and for you American readers, by ‘pants’, he means underwear .

If you are British and know people who are or want to have a holiday in Florida, please share this checklist.

If there’s anything you can suggest to add to the list, please do so in the comments! I’m eager to answer any Florida questions you may have as well.

Things to Do in London:

If you live in London or may visit and need regular ideas for cool things to do, consider subscribing to the Sunny News email . It features Mr Sunny’s Pub of the Week, event information and important updates about what’s happening in London.

A list of what to pack for Florida for British tourists going on holiday to the Sunshine State

This is a great post! As a native Floridian (and a FSU grad), please please don’t buy ugly Gator stuff!

Quick note: the floaties you mention are actually super dangerous. They tend to fall off or deflate and give parents and kids a false sense of security. Kids should only be in the water with a Coast Guard approved life vest (which Brits can pick up when they arrive). Sadly, Florida leads the nation in pool drownings and there are too many visitors whose trips end in tragedy. Just wanted to clarify that (I work in child safety and drowning prevention).

Happy sunshine state-ing!

Thank you for reading and providing that extra information, Christine. My sister and I both had them as children, however, we also had swimming lessons and were pretty strong swimmers. I do hope people consider your advice when visiting pools.

What a great guide – heading out this way for the first time with my family so will be adding these things to the holiday shopping list! As a dad I’m sure that anything I wear will be ridiculed (hay, it comes with the role and I have learned/been forced to accept it) but what’s the best footwear for a guy (I’m not sure I can wear flip flops all day in the queues, rushing from ride to ride and would they actually allow them on the rides)?

Hi there. Thank you for reading. Your best bet is sneakers, or ‘trainers’ as you know them. In the evening, you may wish to wear what we call ‘Boat Shoes’. The brand Sperry could be one to look in to. Not sure if they sell them in the U.K. though.

Great read. I will be going to stay in Florida from August to December on a student exchange and I have no clue what to expect. Anything else you would recommend to a female student in her 20’s.

Sooo many people under-estimate the intensity of the sun when visiting Florida – forgetting that being so close to the Equator those harmful UV rays are particularly strong!

Did you know that Coppertone, designed to produce a darker tan, was one of the earliest sun tan lotions was invented in Miami in 1944 by Benjamin Green.

Top 5 airlines flying to Florida

The crew is amazing, very attentive. They went above and beyond when we had a small spill. the food on this trip was not nearly as good as other Cathay flights. The economy seats are very comfortable, but when the person in front of yo reclines, you need to recline to see your screen or be comfortable.

Cathay Pacific helps me with the planning due to weather delays. Well planed flights.

Cathay Pacific handle my plane delay very well. I will book with Cathay Pacific again in the future trips.

It as great, my in flight entertainment was malfunctioning though.

Flight crew went above and beyond to make sure the flight was enjoyable for us!

Both my husband and I ordered the fish for dinner and we both got sick and throwing up on the plane. I don’t think the seafood was handled properly and I for sure will not order fish the next time around.

Im now late to my appointment because of delayed flight

Dinner was served at the wrong time as soon as we boarded. Most were sleeping.. there was no food service carts for hours. We had to specifically ask for water, snacks etc. for the 15 hour plus flight, there should have been 3 meals served. Instead we only got the breakfast 1 hour before landing. Will try other airlines like Qatar for future travels.

I like the paper menu with lists of food, so that I don’t need worry about to pick up the food I don’t like, because crews are busy to do food service, mostly not enough food information they can tell. Well, one of the lady was not friendly at all, I asked three times my daughter wants a cup noodle during the flight, she gave me the reason is they have half an hour for serving food three times. There are more than 200 people on the flight, it takes them more than hour and half to do food serving, think about it, how long we can get food, around two hours. I don’t like she gave a stupid reason other than to make a cup noodle right away. Unfriendly and lazy.

Great experience, smooth checking, boarding and flight. Service during flight were great, crew members were very professional. Thank you!

Our check-in was mediocre. We were told that we didnt have access to the lounge although we were in business and we were asked to remove 1kg from each of our checked luggages as they had 21 kgs and we found out that our tickets were for 20kgs checked bags. I would have expected: 1 - more clarity on the website so that I could see the difference on fares and be able to buy tickets with more checked luggage kgs allowance, and lounge access, and 2- more flexibility for business class passengers.

On the flight back the seats where very uncomfortable, they where so bad that my back started to hurt after the first 2 hours. I can sit in a wooden chair for 2 hours. But these where just horrible, it just shows how cheap the airline has become. And the cabin was heated all those people in a heated cabin during a night flight. It was clear the climate control was not working. To top that off you are not even offered a glass of water, these people are animals.

We purchased a Go First Pass for 10 Euros each so we could board first, but everyone was able to board at the same time so we wasted 20 Euros. The flight left ab out 15 minutes late and was not allowed to land at Healthrow so we had to circle Heathrow for about 45 minutes. This caused us to almost miss our flight from Heathrow to Atlanta.

Severely delayed with no notice. Could have arrived at the airport hours later had we been informed of the delay

Once the boarding sign went on and all passengers gathered in line, we were left waiting standing up for almost an hour because there was a delay.

It would be nice to have vegan options for meals. The entertainment was not working on the the way to Austria. It was only available near the end of flight to Canada. The service was excellent.

Flight was delayed by approx 1 hour. The boarding process and the flight itself were very good, slightly tight squeeze for my legs but overall happy.

The business class layout on this plane is tightly packed and atrocious with no sense of privacy.

Flight was meant to leave at 8:30pm but there was a 2 hour delay 😞

Airmalta does not include meals in their flights and neither offers entertainment.

Kayak sent several notifications that the flight was late. This contradicted the information on the airport boards. This was extremely confusing and we very nearly missed the flight purely because we double checked with the info desk when the flight stays said’closed’. Kayak notifications are therefore unreliable and pointlesa

Delayed almost 2 hours sitting on plane. No updates at all from flight deck and virtually no updates from cabin crew

Be sure to check bags for 23 kg,.(50 lbs) Coming from US I chose the wrong size luggage weight when I checked in on my phone, and had to pay more when I dropped it off

The flight was delayed for over 1 hour. The boarding process is appalling making you wait for 30 minutes in the passage leading to the outside door without any seats.

All around poor experience. Barely got on flight because it was ostensibly overbooked. Forced into checking a carryon bag with empty overhead compartments. Nickeled and dimed. Charged for coffee. Despicable.

The on board air steward really made the journey. He was very entertaining

I was disappointed there was a 40 minute delay to flight

They cancelled my flight and we had to fend for ourselves to reschedule another flight. There was no staff to help all the canceled guest. Poor communication and staff. I attempted to reschedule via Kayak and I asked their staff that it looked as it was available. The guy behind the counter just told us to go online..

The trip itself was good. I have given only good as rating, because my first flight has been cancelled by a different airline and that caused disruption in my trip. I spent over ten hours in Luton airport and that caused me high tiredness, sickness, because of the very early initial trip. easyJet staff has been professional and friendly.

Very pleasant crew, working hard on a full plane. Delay by a broken seat. However crew made back 60% of the delay.

Good service for a budget trip. No problems at all

Keep track of your departure times and communicate in Airport. I could have spend an hour more in my lounge

Never have real problems...very ho prices for good the rest is all great

Didn’t like anything about it we were delayed by 3 hours and sat on the plane when leaving Dublin. On the way back to Dublin we were kept in the plane on tarmac for 4.5 hours. This airline is a joke!

It was fine. Communication was great as we were delayed

Ryanair is always shite. Slowest boarding possible in the most uncomfortable way. It’s like they are are tad sadistic.

Flight was delayed which happens but walking 15 mins to one gate to be then told it’s now changed to one 15 mins back then other way was frustrating

East check in and security. They are always delayed though. ALWAYS!

Amazed at huge number of people who hadn’t booked cabin bags with big troller cases and rucksacks, not being stopped, what’s the point in following rules or paying more if you don't have to bother?

Worse situation ever. Arriving at 4 am with 7 Hours of delay

It was a great experience. I did find that some menu options were not available, which was a bit surprising, but over all a wonderful experience.

I wasn't able to request a special meal on the on line check in. I informed the cabin crew and they went out of their way to find foods I could eat. I am very grateful.

All went well- allow plenty of time at Heathrow, we felt like we got bused halfway to chicago when it was time to board, then had to carry baggage up steps outside. A bit of work for anyone who is less mobile or able bodied for sure.

It was a pathetic experience. Booked Hindu vegetarian meal and they served chicken. Inspite of telling them repeated times, the issue was not resolved.

I never was able to take this cancelled flight…all flights from Zagreb were cancelled at 3:30 AM of departure day 9/8!

Experience was probably the best I’ve had on BA for a long time. Only thing is A380 is old now and it needs upgrading. The en re attainment screens are very small and the touchscreen barely works.

Flight cancelled! Rebooked by circuitous routing although there were seats available on other nonstop flights.

Service of the crews were great. Food on flight was very greasy, and salty.

Sardine can herringbone layout in business class. Uncomfortable and nowhere to put your book, phone, headphones, etc. worst hard product ever, and the service and food aren’t good enough to make it worthwhile. Expensive garbage. British Airways purchased this thinking only about financials, clearly not customer experience. British Airways business class is the garbage truck of the skies. Hard pass!

Horrible. I bought a flight with British airlines from Amsterdam to Orlando via London. Less than a day they changed my flight to London so I had to fly to London city airport and then find my way to Gatwick for my connecting flight. It was very costly

As of the current situation, there are certain travel restrictions for UK residents travelling to Florida. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about several changes in travel policies and guidelines, so it is essential for travelers to stay up to date with the latest information.

The United States has imposed travel restrictions on several countries, including the United Kingdom, due to the surge in COVID-19 cases. These restrictions aim to prevent the spread of the virus and protect public health. However, the situation is subject to change, and it is advisable to check the official websites of the US government and relevant authorities for the most recent updates.

One of the key travel restrictions is the requirement for a negative COVID-19 test result. All air passengers, regardless of their nationality, must provide a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than three days before their departure. The test must be an accepted antigen or nucleic acid amplification test, and the result must be in written or electronic form. It is crucial to verify the specific testing requirements and accepted tests with the airline and authorities before traveling.

Another requirement is the completion of a Passenger Locator Form. All passengers traveling to the United States, including Florida, must complete this form, providing their contact details and travel history. This information helps health authorities in contact tracing and monitoring the spread of COVID-19.

UK residents must also be aware that upon arrival in the United States, they may be subject to health screenings, including temperature checks and additional testing. It is vital to follow any instructions given by airport and health authorities and cooperate with the screening procedures.

It is important to note that travel restrictions can change quickly, and it is advisable to consult the official travel advisories and guidelines issued by the US government and relevant authorities. The UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) also provides travel advice for British citizens planning to travel to the United States.

Apart from the travel restrictions imposed by the US government, travelers should also consider the travel restrictions imposed by the UK government. The UK has its traffic light system, which categorizes countries based on their COVID-19 risk levels. The categorization determines the testing and quarantine requirements for travelers returning to the UK. It is crucial to check the current categorization of the United States and any specific requirements for UK residents returning from Florida.

Traveling during the COVID-19 pandemic requires careful planning and awareness of the latest travel restrictions. UK residents planning to travel to Florida should stay updated with the latest information, follow all the necessary requirements, and prioritize their health and safety.

It is also important to note that travelers entering the United States, including Florida, are subject to the entry restrictions and requirements set by the U.S. government. This may include providing a negative COVID-19 test result, completing health questionnaires, and complying with any other immigration and customs procedures.

In addition to checking travel advisories, it is recommended for UK residents to consult with their airline or travel agent for any specific requirements or guidelines for travel to Florida. Airlines often have their own protocols and procedures in place to ensure the safety of their passengers.

Traveling during the pandemic can be challenging and unpredictable, so it is essential to stay informed and be prepared for any potential changes or adjustments to travel requirements. By staying updated on the latest advisories and following all necessary precautions, UK residents can have a safe and enjoyable trip to Florida.

Exploring the Challenges: Bipolar Travel Restrictions and How to Navigate Them

If you are a UK resident planning to fly to Florida, there are a few entry requirements you need to be aware of. These requirements may vary depending on your specific circumstances, so it is important to check the latest information before your trip. Here is a general overview of the entry requirements for UK residents flying to Florida.

  • Passport: You will need a valid passport with at least six months of validity remaining beyond your planned departure date from the United States. Make sure to check your passport's expiration date and renew it if necessary.
  • Visa requirements: UK residents traveling to Florida for tourism or business purposes generally do not need a visa if their stay is less than 90 days. Instead, they can travel under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). To enter the United States under the VWP, you will need to apply for an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA). The ESTA is an online application that screens travelers for eligibility before their trip. It is recommended to apply for ESTA at least 72 hours before your departure to allow for processing time.
  • COVID-19 requirements: Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, additional entry requirements may be in place for travelers. As of September 2021, all international travelers flying to the United States, including UK residents, need to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 viral test taken within three days of their departure. It is crucial to check the latest COVID-19 travel restrictions and entry requirements before your trip, as they can change at any time. You may also be required to complete a health declaration or undergo additional testing upon arrival.
  • Customs and immigration: Upon arrival in Florida, you will go through the customs and immigration process. As a UK resident, you will need to present your passport and completed customs declaration form to the immigration officer. They may ask you about the purpose of your visit and the duration of your stay. It is important to answer honestly and provide any necessary documentation, such as a return ticket or proof of accommodation.
  • Travel insurance: It is always recommended to have travel insurance when traveling abroad. This will provide you with financial protection in case of any unexpected events, such as medical emergencies or trip cancellations. Check with your insurance provider to ensure you have adequate coverage for your trip to Florida.

Before your trip, make sure to research and stay informed about any additional requirements or restrictions that may be in place. This can include things like COVID-19 testing or quarantine requirements upon arrival. The official websites of the U.S. Embassy in the UK and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security are reliable sources of information for the latest travel updates and advisories.

By understanding and fulfilling these entry requirements, you can ensure a smooth and hassle-free journey from the UK to Florida. Safe travels!

Navigating the Future: Understanding and Preparing for Expected Travel Restrictions

The Florida travel ban from the UK has had a significant impact on tourism and the local economy. Since the ban was put in place, there has been a sharp decline in visitors from the UK, resulting in a loss of revenue for the tourism industry and a decrease in overall economic activity.

Prior to the travel ban, the UK was one of the largest sources of international visitors to Florida. British tourists would flock to the state to enjoy its sunny weather, beautiful beaches, and world-renowned theme parks. These tourists would spend money on accommodations, meals, transportation, and entertainment, contributing to the local economy.

However, with the ban in place, British tourists are unable to travel to Florida, leading to a significant decrease in tourism. Hotels and vacation rentals have reported a dramatic drop in bookings, and many attractions and restaurants are struggling to survive without the influx of visitors.

The impact of the travel ban is not limited to the tourism industry. The loss of British tourists also affects other sectors of the local economy, such as transportation and retail. Airlines that operated flights between the UK and Florida have had to cancel or reduce their services, resulting in job losses for airline staff. Retailers that rely on British tourists for sales are experiencing a decline in foot traffic and revenue, further exacerbating the economic downturn.

The travel ban also has broader economic implications for Florida. The tourism industry is a major driver of the state's economy, and the loss of British visitors has a ripple effect throughout the local communities. Small businesses that depend on tourism, such as souvenir shops and local tour operators, are struggling to stay afloat, and many are being forced to close their doors permanently.

In addition to the immediate economic impact, the travel ban also raises concerns about the long-term effects on Florida's tourism industry. British tourists are known for their loyalty to Florida as a vacation destination, and the loss of their business could lead to a decline in visitor numbers even after the ban is lifted.

To mitigate the negative effects of the travel ban, Florida's tourism industry and local governments have been working to attract visitors from other countries and domestic travelers. Marketing campaigns have been launched to highlight the state's other attractions, such as its natural beauty, outdoor activities, and cultural experiences. Additionally, some businesses have shifted their focus to locals, offering special deals and promotions to encourage residents to support the struggling tourism industry.

In conclusion, the Florida travel ban from the UK has had a significant impact on tourism and the local economy. The loss of British visitors has caused a decline in revenue for the tourism industry, resulting in job losses and closures of businesses. The long-term effects of the ban remain uncertain, but efforts are being made to attract visitors from other countries and encourage domestic travel to help support the recovery of Florida's tourism industry.

Aer Lingus Travel Restrictions: Everything You Need to Know Before You Fly

As of the current restrictions in place, there are no specific exemptions to the travel ban for UK residents traveling to Florida for family or essential reasons. The travel ban is in place to restrict non-essential travel and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The travel ban has been put in place by the UK government to control the spread of the virus and prevent new variants from entering the country. However, there are certain exemptions to the travel ban for UK residents, such as those traveling for work, study, or medical reasons. Additionally, UK residents who are returning home or traveling for compassionate reasons, such as attending a funeral or visiting a seriously ill family member, may also be exempt.

However, it is important to note that these exemptions are subject to certain conditions and requirements. Travelers must follow the necessary protocols, including testing and quarantine measures, upon arrival in the UK.

It is always advisable to check the latest guidance and travel restrictions before making any travel plans. The situation can change rapidly, and it is important to stay up to date with the most recent information from the UK government and the local authorities in Florida.

If you have urgent family or essential reasons to travel to Florida, it is recommended to contact your local embassy or consulate for further guidance. They will be able to provide you with the most accurate and relevant information regarding any exemptions or requirements for travel from the UK to Florida.

In conclusion, at present, there are no specific exemptions to the travel ban for UK residents traveling to Florida for family or essential reasons. Top tips for finding cheap flights to Florida

  • Morning departure is around 8% cheaper than an evening flight, on average*.
  • To purchase duty-free items, use the Reserve and Collect option at London Gatwick Airport (LGW). You can purchase products online prior to your departure date and save time by picking them up at the airport.
  • If you want to find an affordable way to get from central London to London Stansted Airport (STN), make an online reservation for the Stansted Express Train from Liverpool Street Station. Tickets start at roughly £9.70 up to six months in advance, but they can cost nearly £20 on the day of travel.
  • If you’re looking to save money on your flights from London to Florida, it’s worth checking out indirect flights that include at least one stopover. Direct flights to Tampa, Miami and Orlando tend to be a lot more expensive than flights with a stopover. If you fly from either London Heathrow Airport (LHR) or London Gatwick Airport to Miami International Airport (MIA) with TAP Portugal, you’ll stop over in Lisbon and save a considerable amount on flight costs.
  • For the best direct flights from London to Florida, your best bet is to fly from London Gatwick Airport for the cheapest flights with Finnair or Iberia to Orlando International Airport (MCO) or Tampa International Airport (TPA). Direct flights with both of these airlines to Miami are more expensive and depart from London Heathrow Airport.
  • Fast Track cards allow you to join a special line and be rushed through airport security at any of London's airports, allowing you to bypass huge lines for your journey from London to Florida. Fast Track passes can be purchased at a discount online or in person at an airport kiosk on the day of travel.

Top 5 airlines serving from London to Florida

The crew is amazing, very attentive. They went above and beyond when we had a small spill. the food on this trip was not nearly as good as other Cathay flights. The economy seats are very comfortable, but when the person in front of yo reclines, you need to recline to see your screen or be comfortable.

Cathay Pacific helps me with the planning due to weather delays. Well planed flights.

The flight was delayed for half an hour, hope this can be better

The employees are very nice and good. The delay due to the aircraft is not a good thing. Planning for such problems should be an easy task.

Nothing! The service was excellent for accessibly challenged passengers, Used lift and all support personnel very helpful. Will fly again.

Worst airline in the world, will never travel in it again.

Well Is extra charge for everything and other companies include that and the price.

Good service for a budget trip. No problems at all

Keep track of your departure times and communicate in Airport. I could have spend an hour more in my lounge

Never have real problems...very ho prices for good the rest is all great

Ryanair is always shite. Slowest boarding possible in the most uncomfortable way. It’s like they are are tad sadistic.

Flight was delayed which happens but walking 15 mins to one gate to be then told it’s now changed to one 15 mins back then other way was frustrating

East check in and security. They are always delayed though. ALWAYS!

Poor, how can you order something from the menu em you can’t see a menu? How can you get the online menu when you have no internet? Why let us board when you know full well we won’t be taking off for another 45 minutes, no ice for drink in sweltering heat, seats hard and and uncomfortable when you’re sitting for over 5 hours.

Amazed at huge number of people who hadn’t booked cabin bags with big troller cases and rucksacks, not being stopped, what’s the point in following rules or paying more if you don't have to bother?

Worse situation ever. Arriving at 4 am with 7 Hours of delay

Booked extra legroom seats but as plane had changed we ended up with normal seats. Very little attempt from staff to sort it out
