Ticket sales for the much-awaited India vs Australia T20 match to be played on September 25 at the IS Bindra PCA Stadium in Mohali will start from September 11. Apart from student block tickets, which will be sold at the PCA stadium counters, other tickets will be available for sale on online platform.

According to Gulzarinder Singh Chahal, PCA chief, the state body has tied up with Paytm for the online sale of tickets. He said that PCA is giving special discounts to students and they can avail tickets for ₹ 300 on presenting student identity cards. PCA has also named two stands in the name of former India cricket legends Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh.

Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann held a detailed meeting with PCA office-bearers at the stadium on Tuesday to discuss the preparations for the match. He ensured fool-proof security and cooperation of the Punjab government for smooth conduct of the match.

The meeting was also attended by AAP leaders including Raghav Chadha, Harbhajan Singh and Sanjeev Arora.

Mann advised Chahal to make suitable arrangements to showcase Punjab culture during the T20 tie and asked PCA to distribute flyers celebrating 75 years of Indian independence.

BCCI announces schedule for Paytm home series against Australia and South Africa

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday announced the schedule for the upcoming Paytm Australia and South Africa’s tour of India. India’s international home season 2022-23 will commence with a three-match T20I series against Australia in September and will be followed by a three-match T20I and ODI series against South Africa.

Mohali will host the first T20I against Australia with Nagpur and Hyderabad hosting the second and third respectively. The home series against South Africa will begin in Thiruvananthapuram. The second T20I will be played on October 2, 2022, Gandhi Jayanti, to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi at Guwahati, followed by the last T20I at Indore.

The action will then shift to Lucknow on 6th October where the ODI series will get underway. Ranchi and Delhi will host the second and third ODI respectively.

India vs Australia Mohali tickets cost: A total of seven different price categories have been arranged for fans to pick from.

Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh and all-rounder Yuvraj Singh are all in readiness of joining a long list of cricketers who have a stand (or an end or the whole stadium) inside a cricket stadium named after them.

Harbhajan and Yuvraj, two most successful cricketers from Punjab, might be seen in some sort of a felicitation ceremony before the first India vs Australia T20I in Mohali on September 20. This match will be the first international match after renaming of a couple of stands at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium.

Senior of the two players, Harbhajan had called time on his international career last year. Having played 367 matches for India between 1998-2016, Harbhajan had picked 711 wickets across formats to be the 13th highest wicket-taker in world cricket.

Yuvraj, on the other hand, played represented India in 402 matches scoring 11,778 runs across formats including 17 centuries and 71 half-centuries. The southpaw had called time on a 17-year old career  in 2019.

“Both have been icons for Punjab as well as Indian cricket and fans as well players will be inspired on seeing the stands being named after these two cricketers.”

Schedule announced for Australia's tour of India

All five matches of the T20I series will be held in Mumbai with the first two matches to be played at the D.Y. Patil Stadium and the subsequent three at the Cricket Club of India (CCI) Stadium.

Australia could be without their regular captain Meg Lanning, who is currently on an indefinite break from cricket to focus on her mental health after their Commonwealth Games triumph. It was also the last time the two teams met where India fell short by just nine runs in a thrilling final.

The series could be crucial to both sides in the preparation for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup in South Africa which is now less than three months away. Both the teams are put up in opposite groups. India will be up against England, Ireland, Pakistan and West Indies in Group B while Australia are pitted with Bangladesh, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka in Group A.

India will be hoping to build on the momentum from the Women's Asia Cup triumph and carry it to the marquee event in South Africa in February 2023. I couldn't do that today but definitely loving my new role. I have been wondering what has been happening. The colour of the ball is the same. The teams are the same. The bowlers are the same. I think I was hurrying a bit. I thought, let's take a little bit more time. Calm myself, take it slowly and try and bat deep."
