At a distance of 3 km from Vythiri, and 13 km from Kalpetta, Pookote Lake, also known as Pookode Lake is a natural freshwater lake situated close to the Kalpetta - Kozhikode main road in the Wayanad district of Kerala. It is one of the must-visit Wayanad sightseeing places . At an altitude of about 2500 feet, this fascinating natural freshwater lake is surrounded by evergreen forests and rolling hills. The lake has the shape of India's map. The lake is spread across an area of 13 acres with a maximum depth of 6.5 m. The Panamaram stream, one of the main tributaries of the Kabani River, originates from Pookote Lake. The lake has an abundance of blue lotus and freshwater fishes. Pethia pookodensis is a species of cyprinid fish known to occur only in Pookode Lake. The forests surrounding the lake hold many wild animals, birds, and flies. 2 Thusharagiri Waterfalls

At a distance of 6 km from Kodencheri, 32 km from Kalpetta, & 48 km from Kozhikode, Thusharagiri Falls is a scenic waterfall located in the Kozhikode district of Kerala, India. This is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Malabar region and among the most popular places of sightseeing in Wayanad . Thusharagiri literally means 'snowcapped mountains'. Two streams originating from the Western Ghats meet here to form the Chalippuzha River. The river diverges into three waterfalls creating a snowy spray, which gives the name - Thusharagiri. The highest of the three falls is the Thenpara Fall dropping from a height of 75 meters. The first waterfall can be reached easily while the remaining two falls can be reached from the first one by trekking through thick forest. A 5 km upstream trek will take one to the origin of the stream. Widely known as the 'trekker's paradise', the place offers challenging trekking .....

Pick Up from Calicut (Kozhikode) Railway Station at 08:00 AM , and proceed to Wayanad (100 Kms. / 3 Hrs.). Reach Wayanad by around 12 Noon and go for sightseeing. Visit Pookode Lake - a scenic fresh water lake, where attractions include Boating, Children's Park, Fresh Water Aquarium, Handicrafts and Spices Emporium. Visit Banasura Sagar Dam - the largest earthen dam in India and the second largest in Asia where attractions include Boating and a Small Children's Park. Day-02 : Wayanad Sightseeing - Drop Back to Calicut.

By around 08:30 AM, Check Out and go for sightseeing. Visit Edakkal Caves - which can be reached by around 1 Hr. Uphill Trek from Edakkal. Inside the caves are stone age carvings believed to be dating to at least 5000 BC, indicating the presence of a prehistoric civilization in this region. Visit Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary - Elephants roam freely here and tigers are sighted occasionally as well. Various species of deer, monkeys and birds also live here. Day-03 : Wayanad Sightseeing - Drop Back to Calicut.

Day 1: Kochi – Kannur (275 KMS/7 HRS) Welcome on arriving at Cochin Airport you will be greeted by AMT’s representative. After warm greetings start your journey to Kannur. Fondly known as Cannanore, this beautiful town is bundled with a plethora of sightseeing options like beaches, monuments & ancient temples. After arriving at Kannur chaeck in at your hotel. Evening free at lesiure followed by overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2: Kannur Local Sightseeing After morning breakfast proceed to explore this beautiful city of Kerala. Visit St. Angelo Fort, Arakkal Museum Parassinikkadavu Temple & Parassinikkadavu Snake Park. In the evening explore the beaches of Kannur. Later return to hotel followed by overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 3: Kannur – Wayanad (110 KMS/3 HRS) After morning breakfast checkout from the hotel & proceed to Wayanad. After arriving visit Beypore the small town is famous for its ship building & beypore Beach. Later visit Tali Temple, Krishna Menon Museum. Later check in at your hotel. Wayanad tragedy: Pinarayi meets Modi, seeks Rs 2,200 cr relief package; all-party meet on Thursday

New Delhi: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a grant of Rs 2,200 crore to fund rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts in the areas affected by the Wayanad landslide disaster.

The meeting with the Prime Minister, held at his residence on Tuesday morning, lasted 40 minutes. This is the first official meeting between the Chief Minister and the Prime Minister since Modi assumed office for the third time.

Earlier, when a central team of experts visited the disaster area, Modi had sought detailed data for which compensation was expected. Based on this, a request for Rs 1,200 crore in aid was sent. Similarly, Kerala Chief Secretary Dr V. Venu also visited Wayanad and submitted another supplementary report to the Centre.

The Modi-Pinarayi meeting comes after these developments. The move comes as the state has not received any financial aid from the Centre. The Chief Minister personally travelled to Delhi to meet the Prime Minister and make his submission.

The submission includes detailed estimates for rehabilitation and reconstruction activities.

The Chief Minister returned to Thiruvananthapuram by evening after the meeting. Meanwhile, he has called for an all-party meeting in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday to discuss the Wayanad landslide disaster.
