Top 5 Rivers One Would Love To See During There Tour To Kovalam

K ovalam is located on the south western coastal region of India and is a place where both natural beaches are present as well as other beautiful sights like mountains and rivers. However, most people come here for its coastal allure, but there is more to this Indian town than meets the eye especially when you move away from the coast inland where there are several rivers that provide an escape for tourists after they have had their fill of sunbathing.

1.Neyyar River

As it traverses the green lands in Kovalam, Neyyar River offers one of the most picturesque sites. Originating from Agasthyamalai hills, the river flows through thick forests and attractive valleys which give beautiful sceneries along its course. The Neyyar Dam is a major attraction along this waterway because it serves as a source of water and at the same time acts as a nice place where people can ride slow boats or have leisurely picnics under shades of trees. Besides being situated on its banks, visitors can explore Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary which shelters diverse species including plants and animals.

2.Karamana River

The peaceful Karamana River starts from Agasthyamalai hills flowing through the central part of Kovalam city till it pours into Arabian Sea. Its tranquil path is bordered by mangroves, coconut groves and small human settlements which consolidate with nature. One such example is Golden Island within Karamana River which becomes several branches thus creating room for visitors who enjoy nature watching or simply relaxing within serene surroundings. Occasional boat trips are organised along Karamana River so that guests may enjoy magnificent landscape views characterised by rural features typical to these regions.

3.Vamanapuram River

Vamanapuram River, located on the outskirts of Kovalam town amidst vast virgin landscapes covered with lush flora, is a true paradise yet to be explored. It flows from Western Ghats and passes through farm lands with tiny villages on its way where folks can have a glimpse of life in the countryside of Kerala. The peaceful atmosphere associated with Vamanapuram River makes it an excellent place for boat riding at a slow pace or taking time off to eat along the riverbanks. Also, there are numerous Hindu temples and historical sites nearby that tourists can visit thereby adding cultural aspects to their trip towards Kovalam's hinterland.

This river runs through thick forests and rolling hills, making it an ideal destination for anyone trying to get away from city life. Alongside the banks of this river visitors can go for nature walks that will enable them to appreciate some of the things they might not see anywhere else in terms of wildlife scenery.
