Hollywood tours are in no short supply, from the open-top vans that line the Hollywood Walk of Fame to intimate walking tours. At their best, they take the guesswork out of exploring major tourist attractions and celebrity hangouts, and can sometimes offer an offbeat look at Hollywood history. But finding a perfect route is a challenge, especially when most Hollywood tours barely even take place in Hollywood; in fact, most are excursions through  West Hollywood’s Sunset Strip as well as Beverly Hills .

We’ll be honest: Enterprising visitors are better off with a DIY approach. A smartphone, a Metro pass, and a ride-hailing app cost far less than a proper tour, and you’ll be able to tackle everything at your own pace.

But if you’re looking for a bit more hand-holding and have upwards of $40 to spare, a couple of quality options do exist for Hollywood tours. So we hopped aboard Tinseltown’s top tour buses to find you the best tours through L.A.’s most famous neighborhoods.

Starline Sightseeing Tours essentially operates an entire network of double-decker bus circuits across the city, from Downtown to Santa Monica. Unlike most full-day tours, you’ll never be held hostage to a particular itinerary. Buses arrive at most major tourist attractions across the city every 20 to 30 minutes, so feel free to avoid awful spots and linger in more interesting ones (the Hollywood-West Hollywood-Beverly Hills loop clocks in at just under two hours). Faux Robin Leach narration pumps through headphone jacks at every seat. The ritzy British accent lends extra hilarity as it recounts Hollywood lore, like the El Pollo Loco where Brad Pitt used to dress up as a chicken, or the liquor store where Guns N’ Roses used to get sloshed.

That’s why we mostly do walking tours and cycling tours and use the Metro, because it’s the best way to see and learn about LA – and the most eco-friendly too. Since we began our Los Angeles tours in 2013 over 20,000 guests have joined us on more than 2,500 tours and we’ve frequently been awarded TripAdvisor Certificates of Excellence. This is what we do:

LA in a Day Tour : We’re pioneers of the all day Metro and walking tour of Los Angeles. We start the day in Hollywood, then we jump on the B Line to DTLA (for lunch at Grand Central Market), before ending the tour in downtown Santa Monica in time for sunset (10am daily).

The Real Hollywood Tour : On our tour of Hollywood you’ll learn the neighborhood’s fascinating history and see its hidden corners, so you truly discover the myth and the place (10am daily).

I love travel. In the past there was nothing I enjoyed more than visiting a city and getting lost wandering its streets. However, during a trip to Europe in 2012, I discovered a guided walking tour and realized that it’s a much better way get to know a city. I got a quick history lesson, saw most of the best sights and was able to ask all the vital questions I had (like where to have lunch) from a local expert. It was the highlight of my trip and I began doing walking tours in every city I visited.

When I returned to Los Angeles I looked for a walking tour, but all I found were bus tours of Beverly Hills, which isn’t where the “stars” live nowadays, and Rodeo Drive, where locals like me never go. So, as a historian, traveler and lover of LA, I decided to start a new company, offering totally different tours, that would allow both visitors AND Angelenos to properly experience this amazing city and learn its fascinating history. I was also passionate about creating eco-friendly tours, to raise money for environmental causes.

The Real Los Angeles Tours launched in 2013 with one tour and I was the only guide. Since then we’ve grown a lot – we now have eight tours and ten guides and in 2020 we launched  Real San Francisco Tours .

In addition to being a guide I’m an internationally recognized clown performer and director, and Associate Artistic Director of the Clown School in LA. I’m originally from Atlanta, Georgia, but I’ve mostly been based here for the last two decades. I’ve had a number of different careers (and still do – sailing is my latest), but one of the most fun was doing sets at the Comedy Store. I’ve been a tour guide in several cities around the world, but being able to take guests to my old haunts on the Sunset Strip easily makes LA my favorite.

After a career as an actress in regional theater, film and TV, I was looking for a new direction when I met a lady who told me of her job as a tour director. I immediately asked, “how do I get that job?” She told me and I got certified as an international tour director, leading tours of the Grand Canyon, Washington DC, the Pacific Northwest and Canada, just to name a few. But when I’m back in my hometown, I love working with The Real Los Angeles Tours. These are the kind of experiences that I look for when I’m traveling, so get ready for a fabulous tour!

As someone who’s lived in five US states, and spent a couple of years in France, I’m more than just an international fugitive. It was living in Europe that provided me with the opportunity to travel to unique locales and appreciate the history, architecture, food and cultures of the world. I jumped into the travel and tourism industry in 2015, going on to lead tours throughout the western and northeastern United States, in addition to showcasing Southern California. I look forward to sharing the many highlights of Los Angeles with you.

Hi! Like many people you meet here I’m a transplant, moving to L.A. from the great state of Iowa in 2015. I got the travel bug when I was 19 years old, traveling to Italy with my best friend. Since that first excursion I’ve returned to Europe twice and backpacked around most of the continent, in addition to traveling extensively around the United States, Central and South America. Recently I visited Australia and New Zealand. I enjoy sharing my passion for travel and my love for Los Angeles with all who come on my tours.

I’m originally from the UK and majored in history at the University of London. Travel has always been one of my greatest passions and I lived in Germany, Spain and Australia, before moving to L.A. in 2008. Since then Los Angeles has become my home. I love its dynamism and multiculturalism, the many opportunities it offers, the friendly nature of most people here and, of course, the beautiful weather. In many ways the reason for starting The Real Los Angeles Tours was to give visitors the chance to fall in love with LA like I did.

I was raised trilingual (English, Danish and German) in Denmark, leaving when I was 19 years old, curious to discover the world and wanting to cross multicultural bridges. My first destination was Los Angeles and I spent five super fun years here, before leaving on more globetrotting adventures. I lived in Australia, Singapore and several European countries, but the lure of L.A. drew me back in 2011, by which time I was ready to hang up my boots. I’m always eager to share my passion for the secret spots of the city I love and call home.

Hello there! I may look like a 14 year old, but I’ve been working in tourism for over a decade. I studied acting in Chicago and after college I needed a job, so I became a tour guide. I led deep dish pizza and cupcake tours, but before long I was writing and leading architecture, history and food tours of the windy city. Then, like many actors, I moved to L.A. When I got here I was blown away by the city. I walked the streets and read a ton of books and now I’d love to share the incredible history and architecture of Los Angeles with you!

Which Is The Best Hollywood Studio Tour For You?

There are four major Hollywood studio tours that you can go on in and around Los Angeles : Warners Bros., Sony, Paramount, and Universal Studio Tours.

It’s really not necessary to do all of them , especially on the same trip. There’s quite a bit of overlap between each studio tour, and the ticket prices can really add up.

Throughout my visits to California, I’ve managed to visit all 4 Hollywood studio tours in Los Angeles (and some more than once!).

Here’s my in-depth reviews of all the major Hollywood studio tours in Los Angeles. This is what to expect from each one so you can decide which is the best studio tour in los Angeles for you!

Why Should You Go On A Hollywood Studio Tour?

Hollywood Studio Tours in Los Angeles are a great way to gain an “ all-access” pass to the biggest backstage lots in California .

They give you a chance to go behind the scenes on some of your favourite movies and TV shows.

You’ll get to see the sets and props, and learn about the magic of making movies. And, if you’re lucky, you might get the chance to either see a live film set or a celebrity at work .

Which Is The Best Hollywood Studio Tour For You ?

The best Hollywood studio tour for you will depend on three main factors :

• Your favourite films and TV shows

The studio tours vary in budget and tour length. The price ranges between $55 to $110 / ticket . And the tour can last anywhere between one to three hours .

But your favourite movies and TV shows are the most important factor when deciding which studio tour in Los Angeles to go to. If you haven’t watched anything the studio has produced, you’ll be less interested in what you’re seeing and learning about.

Universal Studios Hollywood Studio Tour

Universal Studios is a bit of a unique studio tour in Los Angeles. The studio tour can only be accessed if you buy a ticket to the entire theme park .

This also puts the studio tour at a much higher price point compared to the others around Los Angles. But, on the other hand, it is an ENTIRE day of activities instead of a few hours.

The tour itself is only 60 minutes but there are no shortage of other rides and shows to see once you’re in the park.

Pros Of The Universal Studios Hollywood Studio Tour

You are on the LARGEST film and TV studio in Hollywood and the world! You get to drive by some of the most iconic sets in all movie history.

You drive-by the sound stages, new and old sets.

But this is still a ride in a theme park so they’ve added some more ride-like adventure elements to make things more exciting, unlike any other Hollywood studio tours in Los Angeles.

At times you feel like you’re in the movie rather than just seeing where one was filmed!

And it’s not all for show either, they do still use these sets to film. In fact, this was the only Hollywood studio tour where I caught a live taping , so it’s still possible to see!

One thing’s certain though, you won’t be bored for a second on this tour even if you don’t happen to see an active film set during your tour.

Cons Of The Universal Studios Hollywood Studio Tour

It’s the least personal studio tour in Los Angeles. You’re on a tram the entire time for 60 minutes straight, with about 30 other people!

As I said, this tour is sometimes more of a ride than a studio tour (so it’s both a pro and a con!).

At times, the tour felt very streamlined , because most of it is. You still have a guide, but he’s following a script on a set path so it’s the same tour every time (unlike the others which have a bit more variance based on your guide).

The tram is on a set course and there are timed animatronics and effects throughout the tour.

Value For Money – Movie Location Los Angeles

I will admit, you get pretty good value for your money with your tickets to Universal studios. But that’s only if you wanted to visit the theme park.

If you were already planning on visiting Universal Studios Hollywood, then the studio tour is a must-do ride! 

But if you don’t like theme parks, and your only interest is the Hollywood studio tour, I wouldn’t recommend paying for the entire theme park just for the tour.

Logistics: What To Know Before You Go

A tram leaves about every 30 minutes for the Universal Studios Hollywood studio tour so the line builds up pretty quickly. I’d prioritize this as one of your first rides of the day.

As I said, don’t expect reality with this one, they do show you real sets but it’s also still a ride. So you’ll get a lot of gimmicky routines created specifically for this tour. 

Also, some advance warning, you might get wet at certain points during the ride. If you’d prefer to not get wet, try to sit in the middle of the row.

Warner Bros. Studio Tour

Warner Bros. Studio is actually in Burbank California , but it’s close enough to Los Angeles.

Warner Bros. studio tour takes you on a tram around different parts of the studio, with only around 12 guests at a time on the tour.

So unlike Universal Studios Hollywood studio tour, it’s a lot more personal and you’re only on the tram to get from place to place (because their lot is HUGE!).

You drive by sound stages and countless outdoor sets. But you’ll get off and walk around a bit, even walking in some sets if you’re lucky. So you should be prepared for some walking on this studio tour in Los Angeles!

Pros Of The Warner Bros. Studio Tour

They are constantly updating the Warner Bros. studio tour – that means you can even go back the next time you’re in Los Angeles, I’ve already gone back twice!

There was some over lap with the sets and information, but very little. A lot had been updated and added to the tour. And I’ve already noticed that they’ve added a lot more content since I’ve gone!

Also, the guided portion of the tour will rarely be the same. For starters, where you go will all depend on what they’re filming at the time. So not only can it change over the years, but it can change within the hour!

It’s also a very personal tour with only being 12 people on the tram. You can also all your questions about movie magic!

Cons Of The Warner Bros. Studio Tour

With all the new additions to the tour every year, I’ve noticed the guided portion has become less and less…

The guided tour portion is only hour , and then two hours are a self guided tour through the museums.

But it’s the guided portion of the tour that’s always fresh and what brings me back! I’m a bit disappointed that the museums seem to have taken over the tour now, making the tour a bit more gimmicky and less about touring real sets and sound stages…

How to See San Diego in One Day

Bring government I.D. when you visit, and make sure to arrive early!

You have to go through security and there might be a lineup. They suggest arriving 30 minutes in advance.

Don’t worry about getting lost on your way to the studios (if you’re driving there)! I followed the instructions we were given on how to get to the visitor’s centre, but my GPS brought me to the wrong gate. No need to panic if this happens to you too! The patrol was very understanding (I’m sure this happens all the time) and told us exactly where to go.

If you’re driving, there’s a parking lot across the street from the visitor’s centre (paid, of course). The studio is in a pretty secluded area, but there’s a Starbucks in the visitor’s centre .

Paramount Pictures Hollywood Studio Tour

Paramount Pictures is really interesting because it’s the last Hollywood studio still in Hollywood (well in Los Angeles). 

So it’s only about a 15-minute drive from Hollywood Blvd. FYI, Warner is in Burbank, and Sony is in Culver City.

It was very similar to Warner Bros. Hollywood studio tour in terms of the scale of the studio. They have several sound stages, a water tank, and a totally customizable New York set.

Like the other Hollywood studio tours in Los Angeles, there’s a museum portion of the tour with props. Paramount Pictures one had a lot of “ unwanted ” props (those that could only be used once for the film they were designed for).

There was A LOT of props from the Transformers franchise, but there were also Star Trek, Gladiator, and Dream Girls props.

Pros Of Paramount Pictures Studio Tour In Los Angeles

The best part about the Paramount Pictures Hollywood studio tour tour was the small size of the group. There’s a max of 7 people on the tour (you’re in an 8 seater golf cart).

The tour also provided earphones to be able to perfectly hear your tour guide at all times, so they didn’t have to shout at you! There can be a lot going on on sets with a lot of noises, so the earphones were definitely appreciated.

I also liked that they provided visuals for what you were looking at during the tour. Our tour guide carried around an iPad showing examples of what a specific set was used for over the years. So instead of looking at a giant green screen, they showed us how that green screen was used in different films.

Cons Of Paramount Pictures Studio Tour

Paramount Pictures studio tour taught me a few things about Hollywood studio tours in Los Angeles…

First, the quality of the tour really depends on your tour guide – they can make or break your visit. And unfortunately, you won’t really know who you’re going to get beforehand.

Unfortunately for me, my tour guide at Paramount Pictures wasn’t the best. There’s so much history to this Hollywood studio that I ended up lost most of the time because I didn’t know who or what he was referring to, I guess the references were also a bit ahead of my time…

Paramount Studio tour also really showed me how important it is to have seen (or at least heard of) the films or shows the studio produced. 

So if you’re a fan of classics like I Love Lucy, Alfred Hitchcock, or the original King Kong then Paramount Pictures studio tour is a must for you!

For me, Paramount Pictures studio tour was a bit of a mixed bag. I really see the potential of this tour though, but I think you have to be a really big movie buff to enjoy Paramount Pictures studio tour.

The visitor parking is across the street from the main gates. Be wary of the address on Google Maps, it brought me to the wrong gate.

When I visited, parking was cash only, so it’s always good to be prepared. There’s an ATM you can use at the end of the tour if you need (apparently no one does cash back in the area…).

Like the other tours, you have to show I.D. and go through security, so they ask you to arrive 30 minutes before your tour . But, in case there’s no wait at all, there’s a mini-exhibit you can visit to pass the time before your tour starts. 

Make sure to bring water and food, there’s really not much in the area. But drinks aren’t allowed on the tour itself, so leave it in the car!

SONY Studio Hollywood Tour

SONY Hollywood studio tour ended up being my favourite studio tour . We were only about 5 people on this tour, so it was very personal. But I don’t know if this was the max, or that fewer people happened to sign up for it.  

I know online there are 25 spots per time slot. I don’t know if that’s the typical tour size on a busier day, or if they would always split you up into smaller groups once you get there.

There are famous cars on display from movies and shows (like Breaking Bad and Ghostbusters). They also have a prop museum at the start of the tour. There’s even an Oscar and an Emmy award you can see (and even hold!). 

Time : 2 hours * Leaves 4 times a day: 9:30, 10:30, 1:30 and 2:30. Admission : 55$* Parking : Free Valet Website

Pros Of The SONY Studio Tour

SONY is a MUCH smaller studio than the other three Hollywood studio tours in Los Angeles. That means you don’t even need a tram to get around, we walked everywhere (so you should also be prepared to walk!). This made it easier to take appreciate it all and take pictures!

I also absolutely loved our tour guide, he was by far my favourite out of all the ones we had on any tour. It didn’t seem like he simply memorized a script. It was as if he lived and breathed SONY and films in general. I would’ve believed it if he’d told us he grew up on set.

We also got the chance to walk on to a sound stage from one of my favourite TV Shows – The Goldbergs. And our guide brought us onto a working foley stage (where they create extra sounds for movies). 

If a sound or foley stage isn’t available to see, you are guaranteed to see either the Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy set . They film on opposite days, so you’ll always be able to see one of them.

But the best perk of all is… You get your picture taken on the set of either Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune, which they’ll print out and give to you as a souvenir… FREE OF CHARGE! ! Seriously when is anything ever free these days…

Cons Of The SONY Hollywood Studio Tour

As I mentioned, there’s no tram for the SONY Hollywood studio tour. Although the studio isn’t as large as the others, you have to be prepared to walk quite a bit.

Another sort of pro and con is that it’s 80 % outdoors . So you really want to go when it’s decent weather. And be prepared to be in the sun!

Value For Money – Hollywood Studio Tours In Los Angeles

I think you get a lot of value for your money at SONY studio tour. It’s the cheapest out of any of the Hollywood studio tours in Los Angeles and they give you some nice freebies (like parking and a photo souvenir!).

The scale of the studio might be smaller than the other three major studios, but there’s still a lot to see. And despite the lack of big blockbuster sets, they make up for it in different ways (like seeing the inside of a game show set, and a foley stage).

Like Warner Bros. and Paramount Pictures studio tours, they ask that you arrive 30 minutes early to go through security. 

If you drive there, they offer FREE valet parking in the Overland lot. 

The studio is very much out of the way, so plan your meals and snacks in advance. All they had at the studio was a vending machine .

Don’t expect to see large outdoor sets like from Warner Bros. or Paramount, SONY is a lot smaller, so most of their sets are on sound stages. So if you’re interested in the big New York outdoor sets, SONY isn’t for you!

Overview, What’s The Best Studio Tour In Los Angeles?

Like I said before, Universal Studios is the most expensive, but you do get an entire days worth of activities. But if your intent is to learn about movie magic, the other three are better choices. 

If you have time for more than one, you don’t need to see both Warner Bros. and Paramount Pictures. There’s quite a bit of overlap between the two. Instead, choose one of those, and then either Universal or SONY as your second option.

P.S. Need A Place To Stay In L.A.? Hotel Recommendations

Finding a place to stay in Los Angeles can be quite overwhelming – it’s HUGE!

I stayed at the Sofitel and would highly recommend it. It was in a safe area, and across the street from the Beverly Hills mall (which proved to be very convenient). It was also within walking distance to some local restaurants you need to try – like the Kings Road Cafe! See room rates & availability here .

If you want to stay on the beach outside of the city life instead, we stayed at The Georgian in Santa Monica and couldn’t recommend it enough! It’s only about a 25 minute drive from the city. This was a beautiful art deco hotel that is begging you to go there! It’s a minutes walk to the beach, Santa Monica Pier, and the Third Street Promenade. See room rates & availability here .

You've gotten me excited about my next trip to Los Angeles. I've done the Universal tour and the Warner Bros tour, so I may do what you suggested and do Paramount and Sony next.

You're right about Universal's tour being more of a ride from what I remember. However, it was cool to see sets from The Good Place, Jaws, and Psycho. Being on the tram the whole time was a little different, and my experience was a bit thrown off because I hadn't expected Universal, CA to have such similar rides to Universal, FL, and I loved how Universal, FL made it really seem like you were on a set walking through various cities. Definitely not the same as CA. I think I was there for about 2 hours and was done. The weather was weird where it was kindof warm at first, but then turned super cold while I was in line for a ride, so I was done sooner than I expected.

I absolutely loved the Warner Bros tour. The guide was super nice and knowledgeable. I almost died when I saw the Gilmore Girl house and Luke's Diner. Of course I took pictures at the Central Perk. To me, the prop museum was a tad boring, but still overall decent. The tour was partially walking and partially riding. There were so many moments where I was like...."this looks familiar" and had to think of where the set had been used. Super cool. I highly recommend it.

That's awesome!! Definitely I enjoyed that the Warners brothers was mixed with walking and a tram ride you were able to get so much further that way - and the lot is HUGE! It really is cool seeing sets from your favourite TV shows and movies! I really liked the SONY tour but it was definitely a lot smaller than Warner bros!

Went on a tour today with bus 3. Had a confirmed sighting. Fun guide, great local knowledge tips to spot celeb's. Good times.

This is super lame. Our guide was clearly disinterested in us. They basically bus you around Hollywood pretending to look for celebrities while the guide constantly picks up his camera reminding you to tell him if a celeb is outside. They play little clips from TMZ (which aren't at all as entertaining) as TMZ. They basically credit TMZ with making the restaurants they point out famous. They do not allow food or drink on the bus, you can't even take water for an hour and half drive to nowhere. I could have driven down Hollywood Blvd by myself and followed a map. No celebrity houses, very little information. I learned more on our Hollywood hike. Save your money. It's lame.

I'm a Los Angeles local and I've never done one of these "celebrity tours". I happened to be in the area for another event, so why not go out as a full tourist. As it turns out, we were the only "locals" on the bus that day. Trish "the dish" was our tour guide and she was great. She was very funny and knowledgeable about all the sights that we saw along the way. It's a two hour tour and it goes by so fast. We did see a celebrity but the other passengers didn't follow Trish's instructions and I don't think she was able to use the footage from that encounter. That was a bummer, but people get excited. The van is comfortable even though the seats have seen better days. There are no windows so you can take a lot of pictures without an obstructed view. It does get a little chilly but I brought a blanket so I wouldn't get cold. On the way back we passed by a motorcycle street gang group. That was an interesting experience. They sort of took over the road and were revving up their engines to get people's attention. It was a very unique group of people. Be sure to bring tip money for both the tour guide and the driver. Driving around the streets of LA/Hollywood is NO EASY task. I've been doing it for 30 years and it sucks. Keeping people engaged and entertained for two hours is also a difficult task. The price of the tour is a good deal in my opinion...so don't be cheap, tip generously.

not child friendly. Not really interesting. Was expecting more Hollywood surrounding areas, stayed within small radius.

So the tour picks up in front of the hard rock cafe, when you arrive ahead of your booking time, just go into the restaurant there is a check in desk for the tours across from the hostess stand. I goofed and got the dates mixed up, but they were able to accommodate us for a tour later in the day and it all worked out as we were able to grab a bite to eat before the tour. The tour itself was a lot of fun, I learned what tmz actually stands for. And we also rode by various areas where famous people are snapped by TMZ cameras. Certainly gave us a different view of LA versus me driving my husband around pointing stuff out. Also some other cool tid-bits were learned during this tour. I'd certainly recommend it. The buses aren't very big either which also makes it nice. But be warned there are no restrooms on the bus and if they have to stop to let you off for a bio break they will leave you where you got dropped off. So make sure to handle your stuff before boarding.

Eunice was our tour guide and she was fun and knowledgable. We enjoyed seeing all the area landmarks. We ate at the Hard Rock beforehand which is where you check in for the tour. My advice is to call and check on your scheduled tour at least a week before going. For some reason the type of tour we had booked 2 months ago was no longer scheduled. Thankfully we had checked in early and found out early enough to leave on another tour that was just about to depart. We enjoyed this tour and would do it again. Thank you, Eunice!

The tour front is located inside the Hard Rock Cafe. I personally think this is one of the best tours to experience if you are in Hollywood, interested in celebrities, and want to know where they hang out, eat, and shop. The TMZ tour is interactive and the tour guide is super knowledgeable and works on the TMZ show. Our tour guide emily was very knowledgeable and showed us all of the celeb hotspots around town. We even got to see a celebrity! Not a super big name but we caught Katie Maloney from Vanderpump Rules eating dinner on the patio of one of the restaurants we drove by. Emily engaged with her and got her on the TMZ camera. Katie didn't seem too excited, but she did wave at us when Emily screamed out her name. It was juicy considering she is going through a divorce but we saw her with a man there eating on the patio. That's the kind of thing you hope to see when spending good money on a Hollywood celebrity tour. Overall a great time! Very engaging and loved all the little trivia that came with it. Check it out!

Located inside the Hard Rock Cafe

It was a fun way to tour LA. Learned about various landmarks and restaurants. In my opinion, the right side of the bus will give you a better view. Great tour guide. She was very knowledgeable and interactive.

I have been on other tours multiple times with family visiting. I decided to try TMZ for my mom and aunt that just spent a week with me and this was awful and not nearly as good as other tours. The driver went too fast, it was hard to hear what they were saying, too hard to see the screen to play games while driving around, and the condition of the bus was terrible (see photo)! Not as described at all:( As per the TMZ site, "And our bus ... it's the best, most luxurious in town, with plush seats, phone chargers, a state-of-the-art audio/video system ... even a bathroom!" Haha! What a joke!

Horrible interior

The stars are for the tour guide who was a personable and kind. We went on a rainy day, not sure why the bus doesn't have windows? I mean, I understand that it rarely rains in Hollywood, but the bus should have windows if it's going to operate in the rain. With that being said...we spent 2 hours driving around sight seeing...and there were obviously no celebrities out, LOL. We went because a relative of mine was celebrating an anniversary and that was his deal. He really enjoyed it.

Halloween Horror Nights 2024 at Universal Studios Hollywood will feature haunted houses and scare zones featuring icons like The Weeknd , M3GAN , and more. Here’s your guide to all of them.

Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) will take place select nights Sept. 5 – Nov. 3, 2024 at Universal Studios Hollywood (California). Below you’ll find information about all of the haunted houses and scare zones at the event, plus the signature Terror Tram experience.

Terror Tram: Enter the Blumhouse

Guests will board the trams usually used for the Universal Studio Tour and encounter the stories of several Blumhouse Productions films.

The most terrifying characters from Blumhouse have taken over the Terror Tram. Face the murderous android M3GAN, the sinister Grabber from “The Black Phone,” the serial killer from “Freaky,” and more. Universal Studios Hollywood

Get caught in an epic battle as Saskia Van Helsing and the Bride of Frankenstein go up against Dracula’s daughter and her monstrous mavens. Universal Studios Hollywood

Saskia Van Helsing is a new character created especially for “Eternal Bloodlines.” She’s the daughter of Abraham Van Helsing (aka Count Dracula’s killer). Saskia teams up with the Bride of Frankenstein, namesake of the 1935 Universal film.

‘Insidious: The Further’

Guests will follow in the footsteps of the Lamberts, encountering familiar settings and scares as they are transported directly into “The Further” — the ethereal place where ghosts and demons lurk. And just like in the films, guests will quickly learn that the paranormal creatures are here to stay. Universal Studios Hollywood

The haunted house will be based on multiple “Insidious” films from Blumhouse Productions and Sony Pictures, featuring appearances by various villains: The Red-Faced Demon, KeyFace, Bride in Black, and the spirit of the Man Who Can’t Breathe.

Universal previously created haunted houses entitled Insidious: Return to the Further (which operated in Orlando in 2015) and Insidious: Beyond the Further (in Hollywood in 2017).

‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’

The “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” film, which debuted in theaters earlier this year (check out  our reporter Connor’s review! ), is a sequel to 2021’s “Ghostbusters: Afterlife,” itself a legacy sequel to the original “Ghostbusters” films from the ’80s.

‘A Quiet Place ‘

In this universe, Earth has been overtaken by horrifying, sightless creatures who find their prey with their exceptional hearing. The only way to survive is by staying completely silent. In this HHN house, you, like the Abbott family (those films’ protagonists), will creep from the farmhouse to the woods to the foundry in complete quiet. That is, you’d  better  move in complete quiet. One slip-up and you’ll summon the terrifying creatures, who will silence you for good.  Universal Studios Hollywood

“A Quiet Place” will be the first HHN haunted house to utilize American Sign Language (ASL), an integral component to the “Quiet Place” movies.

Paramount’s “A Quiet Place” released in theaters in 2018, followed by “A Quiet Place Part II” in 2021. A spin-off, “A Quiet Place: Day One,” debuted in theaters in June 2024. Universal’s haunted house, however, will focus solely on the first two films, both of which were directed by John Krasinski. (Our kid reporter, Chase, recently  interviewed Krasinski  at the world premiere of his newest movie, “If.”)

‘The Weeknd: Nightmare Trilogy’

The Weeknd returns in a new haunted house spawned from “After Hours,” “Dawn FM,” and a horrifying new tale. Get ensnared by the most iconic moments inspired by his music videos and live performances. Universal Studios Hollywood

The Weeknd has been featured in several haunted houses at previous HHNs globally, including “After Hours Nightmare” in 2022 at Universal Studios Hollywood.

‘Monstruos 2: The Nightmares of Latin America’

Resist the infernal rider El Charro or he’ll take your soul. Don’t turn your back on the devil dog El Cadejo or you’ll be lost forever. And you’d better behave or the boogeyman El Cucuy will get you. Universal Studios Hollywood

“Monstruos 2” follows in the footsteps of “Monstruos: The Monsters of Latin America,” a 2023 haunted house at Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights.

‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Legacy of Leatherface’

Leatherface and his cannibalistic kin will lure you into their gore-filled slaughterhouse. Fall victim to a gruesome original story never seen on screen in honor of the 1974 movie’s 50th anniversary. Universal Studios Hollywood

‘Dead Exposure: Death Valley’

Enter a top-secret government facility where an experiment to create super soldiers has gone horribly wrong, turning people into radioactive zombies. And they escape just as you arrive! Universal Studios Hollywood

The Dead Exposure narrative is original to Halloween Horror Nights and not based on an existing film or television franchise. Universal debuted the storyline in a haunted house titled simply Dead Exposure in 2008 at Universal Studios Florida. This was followed by Dead Exposure: Patient Zero in 2018, also on the east coast. This year’s Dead Exposure: Death Valley marks the story’s first haunted house in California.

Scare zones at Halloween Horror Nights 2024 (California)

In addition to the eight haunted houses of Halloween Horror Nights 2024, the event will feature four scare zones, themed outdoor areas within the park’s promenades.

‘Luchadores Monstruosos’

¡Ojo! You’re about to get caught in the middle of a Lucha Libre horror film as two luchadores battle masked monsters. Universal Studios Hollywood

‘Murder of Crowz’

At Universal Studios Hollywood, HHN will operate every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from Sept. 5 – Nov. 3, 2024, along with every Wednesday from Oct. 9-30, 2024. Event operating hours are 7 p.m. – 1 a.m.

Tickets and planning information

A  single-night ticket  to Halloween Horror Nights 2024 in California starts at $77, with prices varying based on event date.

The  Frequent Fear Pass  starts at $209, granting access to up to 33 nights of HHN at Universal Studios Hollywood. The Ultimate Fear pass, starting at $329, grants admission to all 40 event nights with no blackout dates.

Universal Studios Hollywood  annual passholders  with the Platinum tier receive one free HHN ticket, valid on select nights.

The  Universal Express Pass  grants the guest front-of-line access to all eight haunted houses at HHN. Express Passes for Halloween Horror Nights 2024 start at $209 and includes the event admission price (a difference from Florida).

The  R.I.P. Tour  is a guided walking tour with front-of-line access to all eight haunted houses and more perks throughout the entire evening. For 2024, the R.I.P. Tour starts at $389 per guest, and includes the event admission price (again, different from Florida’s R.I.P. protocol).

Summer School tours the country channeling the pop-punk spirit of the Warped Tour

In 1995, former Goldenvoice exec Kevin Lyman changed the modern tour landscape by infusing Southern California punk rock with skateboarding and X Games culture to create the Warped Tour. The fest became one of the longest-running summer tours in history (it wrapped in 2019) and provided the stage for bands like Sublime, No Doubt, Blink-182, My Chemical Romance, Something Corporate, Fall Out Boy, Paramore and many more to break into the mainstream. On any given day, the festival’s lineup was shuffled, and fans had to arrive early to ensure they saw their favorite artist.

Though Lyman stepped away from that scene in recent years (he‘s currently an associate professor at USC‘s Thornton School of Music), he felt the time was right to bring back a new version of what had worked so well — with a twist. Lyman along with Eric Tobin of Hopeless Records and Mike Kaminsky of KMGMT (who also teaches at USC) are pushing the spirit of Warped forward.

Tobin and Kaminsky have been involved with the Warped Tour in various capacities over the years and understood the festival’s ethos. They’ve also worked together as Hopeless signed KMGMT’s artists over the years. When the pair first conceived the idea of Summer School, they wanted to bring an experience outside of the commercialized festivals that dominate the current landscape.

“The conversation that started between Mike and me was how do we create something like Warped with it being gone?” Tobin says. “The conversation was that maybe we should try this branded idea again and start from scratch.”

“We weren’t sitting around going, ‘What the world needs now is another festival tour,’” Kaminsky says. “When Kevin retired Warped, Eric and I were wondering, ‘Where are these developing bands going?’ We’re all hitting a glass ceiling. After COVID, we had all these bands that were streaming like crazy. They’re going viral and there’s all this interest in them. But there’s nowhere to put them on tour.”

Lyman, who is still tapped into the promoter and sponsorship world, saw there was a demand for this type of tour. He quickly discovered that no one had brought this type of festival idea since Warped concluded and they realized that their idea could work. But Lyman initially pushed Tobin and Kaminsky off of starting a festival because he felt the timing wasn’t right. Last September, that changed.

“They didn’t want to replace Warped Tour but develop up-and-coming acts,” Lyman says. “There hasn’t been a lot of developers out there. We’ve had to reengage the younger fans in live events since there were several years that kids didn’t go to live shows. We had to give this a shot. Summer School was a great name for this event. Basic is the best.”

With Lyman working as a mentor and Kaminsky and Tobin as curators, the trio created a tour focused on a lineup comprising independent artists on independent labels, all while working with independent promoters. Summer School’s founders also kept what they call an affordable ticket price by using sponsorship money to cover most costs. In some markets, the price is $35, which is a bargain compared with mainstream fests that cost, at minimum, hundreds of dollars.

The spirit of the Warped Tour is still prominent, but unlike the parking lots and festival grounds it invaded over the years, Summer School takes place indoors.

“With the size of the rooms, we wanted to keep this contained, and it’s too hot outside,” Tobin says (a notion Kaminsky agrees with). “A lot of artists and fans were like, let’s do this first year in a place that we can control the experience and make it feel packed out.”

Many of the artists who are on the bill haven’t played in several-thousand-person-capacity rooms. Summer School allows them to get their metaphorical sea legs in front of a supportive audience.

The success has been in the engagement. Merch sales have steadily grown and the artists noticed that they’ve been gaining new fans after every show.

“This tour has introduced us to more new listeners than we’ve experienced,” Devin Papadol of Honey Revenge says. “Not only have the crowds been incredible, but we get to perform alongside our friends every night. Summer School is filling a void in the scene that’s been missing. We’re so thankful to be a part of this special live music environment.”

“The Summer School tour has been such a refreshing start to our touring year,” Bonnie Fraser of Stand Atlantic says. “We had such a big amount of time off, for us anyway, and being able to kick-start our year with Summer School has brought us back to why we love what we do and why we started doing it.”

For Fraser, the festival is reminiscent of an era where festivals felt more intentional in the booking and less about business. “We as a band are proud to be a part of something bigger and thoughtfully put together with genuine intentions other than just another slapped together touring package everyone has seen 100 times over.”

Just like Warped, the lineup shuffles day to day, which not only the bands support but the founders say judging by the filled rooms at the beginning of the day, the attendees do as well.

“So much is about the vibe and the community,” Kaminsky says. That was part of the guiding spirit that made Warped a summer fixture for 25 years. It has translated to the bands as well. On their social media platforms, the bands can be seen sharing photos and videos of group hangs and behind-the-scenes footage of what’s been going on.

Despite the larger promoters always lingering in the background, Summer School has a punk rock mentality of staying small and happy to remain at its size while focusing on artist development, with the hope that the artists on the tour will return to the same venues to headline them on their own.

“If everything’s great, we can catapult bands up to go to bigger festivals and get paid way more money,” Kaminsky says. “That’s not the space we’re trying to compete in.”

“What this community has always been about is cultural currency more than it’s been about the hits,” Tobin says. “It’s a left-of-center kid that’s looking for identity, and you can get to go to that show and hit that barricade. The idea of being another piece of that ongoing legacy and creating a new generation for it. The bigger it is, the better it is for everybody.”

Summer School wraps on Aug. 17 at City National Grove in Anaheim, and the planning for Year 2 has already begun. Despite not taking a salary for this year’s tour, Kaminsky and Tobin are excited to see the tour grow.

“It’s been really rewarding, not just for us, but for the managers, the agents and the artists,” says Kaminsky. “The most rewarding part is working with really good people that we really love and share mutual respect. And I think these days, that’s sometimes harder to come by.”

Long Beach College Promise 5th Grade Tours

The Long Beach College Promise along with the Academic and Career Success Initiative was established in 2008 to support the college and career readiness of all students in the Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD). With funding provided by LBUSD, all fifth-grade students are offered an immersive experience where they learn about the Promise and explore their future in higher education. To date, over tens of thousands of LBUSD fifth graders have toured the CSULB campus.

The University Outreach & School Relations Office along with EAP hosts approximately three hundred students (10 classes of thirty students) along with their teachers and chaperones on Friday mornings during the Fall and Spring semesters.

Immersive Tour Experiences

Fifth graders will tour the CSULB athletic facilities, such as the Pyramid, and engage in one of the following program activities facilitated by CSULB staff and faculty.

A trip to Las Vegas wouldn't be complete without experiencing the awe-inspiring natural wonders just outside of it — particularly the Grand Canyon.

We've rounded up the best Grand Canyon tours from Las Vegas, whether you seek a relaxing bus tour, a thrilling helicopter ride, or a little bit of both. Note that most of these tours require a full day of your vacation itinerary.

This adventure begins on the Las Vegas Strip , where passengers board an air-conditioned bus and head to the West Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. From there, they board a helicopter that descends 4,000 feet, landing on the floor of the canyon. Next, visitors head for Grand Canyon West, which is home to Guano Point, Eagle Point and Hualapai Ranch. There's also an option to brave the world-famous glass Skywalk for sweeping views (and an additional fee).

Good to know: Grand Canyon West is located on the Hualapai Indian Reservation, which is owned and operated by the Hualapai Tribal Nation. In the tribe's traditions, the Grand Canyon and the Colorado River are considered living, spiritual entities. When visiting Grand Canyon West, travelers are immersed in the rich culture and history of the Hualapai Nation.

Price: From $94 per person Duration: About 11 hours

This tour will show you the best of the West Rim, including the glass-bottomed Grand Canyon Skywalk bridge (for an added fee). After being picked up from select Vegas hotels and traveling three hours on an air-conditioned bus, passengers get to spend up to four hours exploring the West Rim. A must-see lookout point at the West Rim is Guano Point, from which you can trek to Highpoint Hike and get a view of the Colorado River.

A lunch box, snacks and plenty of water are included with the tour. One unique feature of this outing is that you get to stop at the Hoover Dam for a photo (but keep in mind this stop is only available seasonally). You can also choose from several upgrades, including a Skywalk admission ticket, a helicopter ride or a boat excursion.

No matter which option you choose, previous travelers say you will enjoy this tour — especially the expert guides, who they describe as both informative and entertaining.

Good to know: Because it's closer to the Las Vegas desert, this side of the Grand Canyon is the warmest year-round, with hot and dry summers, mild shoulder seasons, and occasional snowfall in the winter.

Price: From $119 per person Duration: About 13 hours

If you're looking to visit the South Rim — the most popular part of Grand Canyon National Park — consider this bus tour from National Park Express. Tour rates include admission to some of the most popular Grand Canyon attractions , including Mather Point and Bright Angel Point , and you'll get about three hours total to explore. Previous travelers commend the tour guides and drivers, noting they are both knowledgable and pleasant.

Lunch, bottled water and a granola bar are included in tour rates. Plus, you can select your own pickup location from several Las Vegas-area hotels and be dropped off at one of three locations (Excalibur, Horseshoe or Treasure Island).

Good to know: Visitors who are looking to experience the wildlife native to the area (such as coyotes and bighorn sheep) often choose the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, which is home to more animal species than the West Rim.

Price: From $74 per person Duration: About 15 to 16 hours

This bus tour – which takes around four hours to get to the South Rim's Mather Point from Vegas – gives visitors the opportunity to walk along Bright Angel Trail; it leads to Bright Angel Lodge, located in the Village Historic District.

You can also stock up on snacks and souvenirs at the Grand Canyon Visitor Center, since the tour only includes a box lunch and water. Or, upgrade your excursion with the guided walking tour add-on. Another historic part of the tour is the scenic drive along the famous Route 66, one of the first U.S. highways.

Previous travelers say this tour makes for a really long day, but that the experience is well worth the time.

Good to know: Located farther from Vegas, the South Rim is cooler, with rainy and snowy winters, and more moderate temperatures in spring, summer and fall.

This full-day Grand Canyon tour run by Comedy on Deck Tours gives guests several options to customize their experience, such as a VIP Skywalk tour. But there is also a great base package. Guests are treated to not one but two sit-down meals from local restaurants: a freshly prepared breakfast and a barbecue lunch with an incredible view of the canyon.

Additionally, this all-inclusive tour stops at the Hoover Dam on the way to the Grand Canyon, so guests get to experience two national landmarks for the price of one. The professional comedian who doubles as a tour guide makes for an even more fun experience according to previous tourgoers.

Good to know: The West Rim is typically less crowded than the South Rim, so it may be a good option for your Grand Canyon destination if you're hoping to avoid all the tourist congestion.

Price: From $100 per person Duration: About 14 hours

This South Rim bus tour from Canyon Tours offers a full day of activities that kids will enjoy. Not only will youngsters marvel at the beauty of the canyon, but they can also have an immersive experience at the IMAX theater, which plays a film that takes you into the center of the canyon. Additionally, your family will get a chance to see the Hoover Dam as you cross the Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge.

Lunch and bottled water are included in tour rates.

Good to know: Visitor centers throughout the park offer free activities that allow children 4 and older to earn an official Junior Ranger badge and learn about nature, history and park preservation.

Price: From $599 per person Duration: 4 hours

One of the best Grand Canyon helicopter tours , this excursion features panoramic views of the Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, the Mojave Desert and of course, the Grand Canyon. The tour covers roughly 10 miles of the Grand Canyon before landing 3,500 feet below the rim of the Hualapai Indian Territory, where Champagne and light snacks are served. Previous visitors say this is one of the highlights of the tour.

This helicopter tour departs the Las Vegas Strip Terminal, and complimentary shuttle service is available for hotels within a 5-mile radius of the departure point. Note that helicopter weight restrictions apply for safety purposes.

Tickets will be available starting with a Citi presale beginning Tuesday, August 13th. Additional presales will run throughout the week ahead of the general on-sale beginning Friday, August 16th at 10 a.m. local time at Live Nation’s website .

In a statement accompanying the tour announcement, Mathews told Deadline, “Growing up a broke, gay kid from the south I always dreamed of being a performer, but let’s be real, those big dreams don’t typically come true. Thankfully, I decided to take the risk and bet on myself as a comedian.”

Still, he said, “Never in my life did I imagine I would then sign an incredible deal with Live Nation for a second headlining tour. I couldn’t do this without the incredible support of the fans and I’m so excited, honored and humbled that so many people believe in me. I can’t wait to be back on that stage! Boujee on Budget is going to be wildddd.”

In a short amount of time, Matt has skyrocketed into the social media stratosphere through his raw social posts, side-splitting short-form videos and stand-up clips, earning him over 4.8 million followers on TikTok and over 2 million followers on Instagram. He’s coming off of his debut headlining tour, ‘When That Thang Get Ta Thang’n,’ which saw him sell out 100 dates and 150,000 tickets across the country.
