Day 2: CAIRO – ALEXANDRIA - CAIRO (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)

This morning, enjoy your breakfast in the hotel.

After which, meet your guide in the hotel lobby and drive to Alexandria, a Mediterranean port city in Egypt. Start your tour in Alexandria by visiting the Pompey’s Pillar , the only remaining pillar from the Roman temple. It also the biggest memorial column in Egypt. The pillar, made up of red granite, stands at about 28 meters and has a base diameter of 2.7m.

Then, you will visit the medieval Citadel of Qaitbay , a 15th-century defensive fortress located on the Mediterranean seacoast, where artefacts and maritime finds, including some objects belonging to Napoleon's fleet which sunk in Alexandria's enlargement with an extraordinary naval strategist by Admiral Nelson in 1798.

Next, visit the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa , a historical archaeological site located in Alexandria, Egypt, and is considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Middle Ages. The site was discovered by accident in 1900 when a donkey disappeared through the ground, these catacombs make up the largest-known Roman burial site in Egypt and it is one of the last major works of construction dedicated to the religion of ancient Egypt.

Thereafter, you will visit The Bibliotheca of Alexandrina . It was founded at the beginning of the 3rd century BC. The Bibliotheca Alexandrina is built on a magnificent site alongside Alexandria's ancient harbour in the historic centre of the city. The 11-story library can contain up to 4 million volumes of books and can be expanded up to 8 million by the use of compact storage.

Drive by the corniche and the old harbour where you can see the old fishing boats, men fishing and traditional fishermen making nets.

Day 3 CAIRO – LUXOR – NILE CRUISE (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)

This morning after breakfast, meet your guide in the lobby and transfer to the airport for your domestic flight to Luxor.

Start your day tour in Luxor with a visit to The East Bank of the Nile River where you will visit Karnak Temple , the largest religious building ever constructed. It is a city of temples built over 2,000 years and dedicated to the Theban triad of Amun, Mut, and Khonsu.

Then, make a visit Luxor Temple, at the Temple of Luxor you will be surprised by the courtyard, enormous columns and the granite statues of Ramses II. This morning, head to the magnificent Abu Simbel Temples , one of the most famous ancient monuments in Egypt. The temples were dismantled from where they were built over 3,000 years ago and repositioned to where they are standing now. By means of a complex engineering feat in the 1960s, the  temples were salvaged from the rising waters of the Nile River caused by the erection of the Aswan High Dam.

In the afternoon, sail around Elephantine Island on a traditional felucca ride and view Mausoleum of the Aga Khan on the west bank of the Nile.

Day 7: ASWAN - CAIRO (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)

This morning, disembark from the cruise and continue sightseeing in Aswan.

Day 8: CAIRO (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)

After breakfast, meet your guide in the lobby and begin to uncover the mysterious sites to see Cairo's most interesting landmarks. Visit the famed Great Pyramids of Giza which has been built during the 4th dynasty in the old kingdom of Egypt's ancient history. At the time of this post being written, there was conflicting advice being offered online regarding Egypt visas for people traveling on a Singaporean passport. Some sources have reported that Singaporeans can obtain a Visa-on-Arrival when they arrive in Egypt. Other sources say that visas must be applied for at an Egyptian embassy or consular office prior to traveling to Egypt.

In light of this, we strongly recommend contacting your nearest Egyptian embassy or consular office for up to date information regarding entry requirements for Singapore passport holders.

Is Egypt a Safe Country to Visit?

Yes, Egypt is a very safe destination for tourists. However, we do recommend taking some basic precautions during your trip in Egypt. These would include things like:

• Be vigilant and remain alert of your surrounding when you are out visiting very crowded areas, including very busy tourist attractions.
• Don’t carry more money around with you than you actually need.
• Avoid being out on foot in very quiet and/or deserted areas at night. This is especially true if you are a solo traveler, male or female.
• Be wary of anyone who approaches you in the street and tries to sell you something.
• Do not attempt to buy recreational drugs. Egyptian courts are not inclined to show leniency for drug related offenses.
• Do not get involved in debates about divisive topics such as religion and/or politics.
• Be firm but also polite when dealing with pushy hawkers or vendors who are trying to sell you stuff that you don’t want.
• Consider using a professional tour guide. They really can help you to avoid a lot of hassles and annoyances.

What Clothes Should I Pack for Egypt Vacation Packages?

Egypt basically has three types of weather: warm, hot, and very hot. With this in mind, we recommend focusing on lightweight cotton garments. We also recommend packing in one outfit of smart casual clothing for going out in the evening or to wear if you get invited to someone’s home.

A comfortable pair of closed but breathable walking shoes is also recommended, as is a lightweight jacket and/or blouse which can be worn in the evenings when it can sometimes be quite cool.

What Type of Sun Protection Should I Take with Me?

At the very least, we recommend taking a good quality sunscreen lotion with you, as well as a good pair of sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat, all of which can also be purchased in Egypt. Female travelers should also consider packing in a head scarf. Apart from the fact that women are required to cover their hair when entering a mosque, a scarf can also provide much needed sun protection.

Can I Visit Egypt During the Covid-19 Pandemic?

At the time of writing, Egypt has not barred foreigners from visiting the country. Providing that the Singaporean government is allowing their citizens to travel to Egypt, you are free to visit the country. However, you will need to meet certain requirements. You will need to get a Covid-19 PCR test no more than 72 hours prior to boarding flights to and from Egypt. You will also have to quarantine for 14 days on arrival in Egypt.
