The economics department and emory campus.

The Economics department is located in two locations on Emory's Atlanta campus: The Rich Memorial Building and the R. Randall Rollins Building . Get to know the many opportunities available to you at the Laney Graduate School and on Emory's  campus . 

The R. Randall Rollins Building

The R. Randall Rollins building is a new building (2023) on Emory's Atlanta campus located in the Rollins School of Public Health. The R. Randall Rollins building is a satellite location of the Economics department and houses faculty offices, the Ph.D. program, multiple conference rooms and classrooms. The building has many additional amenities including two lactation rooms, private shower facilities, a Coffee Shop plus many spaces for undergraduate and graduate students to relax and socialize.

A carousel is a rotating set of images, rotation stops on keyboard focus on carousel tab controls or hovering the mouse pointer over images. Use the tabs or the previous and next buttons to change the displayed slide.

The Rich Memorial Building

The Rich Memorial building was built in 1947 originally for the business school. Today, the Rich building houses the Economics department including faculty offices, conference room and classrooms, plus spaces for undergraduate and graduate students to relax and socialize.

Using the Map

Click and drag the little orange person to a location on the map. Locations with panoramas appear as blue lines or blue dots when moving the orange person. The blue dots are panoramic views that you may swivel. The blue lines are paths that you can navigate along.

Planning Your Visit

Emory Law is located on Emory University’s main campus in the suburban Atlanta neighborhood of Druid Hills. The campus is approximately a 15-minute drive from the downtown, midtown, and Buckhead areas. If traveling from  Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport , plan on at least a 30 minute trip by car.  MARTA , Atlanta’s mass transit system, provides regular bus service and several train stations near campus.  Learn more about travel and dining options »

If you have a group of students you would like to visit Emory, review the information outlined below to help you decide whether a group visit to our Atlanta or Oxford campus is right for you.

Group Visits on Atlanta Campus

Our Atlanta campus, home to 3 of our 4 undergraduate colleges: Emory College of Arts and Sciences, Goizueta Business School, and Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing. Please review the information below before requesting a group visit.

Group Visit Policies

• Group visits are only available for groups of 10–75 high school students, in 9th through 12th grades. 
• Requests must be submitted at least 3 weeks in advance.
• Submission of the group visit request form does not secure a visit. Please allow up to 7 business days for a response.
• Only one group visit can be scheduled per day. Groups are accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Group Visit Includes

Student guided walking tour.

The campus tour is a 60- to 75-minute walking tour led by a current student. All participants should have comfortable footwear and come prepared for the possibility of inclement weather. Tours occurs rain or shine.

Information Session

In addition to a campus tour, you can elect to have a 30-minute information session. During the school year, most sessions are led by current students. In the summer, these sessions are often led by admission staff. On the group visit request form, you will be asked to share what goals you have for your group's time at Emory, and then we will customize your information session to meet your goals.

For groups with students in grades K-8, we offer a self-guided tour . This option does not require registration.

Our Oxford campus is home to Oxford College. Please review the information below before requesting a group visit.

• Group visits are only available for groups of 10 - 50 high school students, in 9th through 12th grades. We request groups bring one chaperone for every 10 students.
• If your group does not fit within the guidelines listed, please contact us using the information provided above.

Group visits are not offered in August, December, April, early January, or during Emory's summer holiday, due to student exam schedules/breaks and high visitor volume on campus.

• Oxford College hosts group visits on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10:00 am - 11:45 am. Visits include a student-led campus tour and information session with an Admission Advisor.
• Fall Semester: September through end of November.
• Spring Semester: Mid-January through the end of March.
• Group visits are not offered on weekends, university closings/breaks, or national holidays.

Youth athletes in Hall County will benefit from immersive virtual reality injury prevention training, providing them with a realistic training environment similar to that of professional athletes.

Imagine if playing a video game could reduce your risk of injury and make you a better athlete. The Emory Sports Performance And Research Center (SPARC) is turning this dream into reality for youth athletes in Georgia.

As the football season approaches, Emory SPARC is expanding its Georgia Initiative for Virtual Reality in Education and Sports (GIVES) program to Hall County youth football players. The GIVES program uses virtual reality (VR) technology to enhance injury prevention, rehabilitation, and sports performance, providing young athletes with training tools like the pros use.

Funded by a $4.5 million grant from the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, the program uses immersive VR technology to create realistic training environments and disseminate Emory research into local communities. These environments support injury prevention, rehabilitation, and in-game performance.

Leveraging virtual reality for injury prevention and performance

Emory SPARC, located at the Atlanta Falcons Flowery Branch headquarters, is a leading research center dedicated to researching and disseminating injury prevention strategies for young athletes.

“Our mission is to help athletes play well and stay well. Emerging research shows that incorporating virtual reality tools into sport-specific training can significantly enhance both injury prevention and performance,” says Greg Myer, PhD , director of the Emory Sports Performance And Research Center. “We are thrilled to partner with Hall County Schools to implement the virtual reality training programs developed in our laboratories. By getting these tools into the hands of coaches, athletes, and school medical staff, we can encourage kids to be active, while reducing the risk of injuries.”

This football season, the GIVES program has been deployed to all football players across seven Hall County high schools, with goals to reach over 15,000 students, including those from nine middle schools, over the next academic year. The program’s newly developed VR football drills, created in collaboration with Rezzil, target critical decision-making abilities required during a football game, such as identifying open targets and making accurate directional movements. Additionally, the program includes reaction games designed to test athletes’ sensorimotor capabilities under various conditions, mirroring real-game situations.

Myer says that by engaging athletes in dual-task cognitive and motor training—making them think while they perform a sports skill—they increase their cognitive reserve. This means the athlete has more brain power available to assess and respond to the demands of sports performance and competition. By training both the mind and the body together, they create better performing and safer athletes.

Community support and involvement

The program is distinguished by its school-based nature, with all testing and training conducted on-site at schools. Emory researchers and local high school work-based learning students facilitate the program, ensuring comprehensive support for participants. Teachers, coaching staff, and administrators are also encouraged to engage in the VR testing alongside student athletes, fostering a community of excitement and participation.

“We hope that this training and the research it generates will help make our athletes more agile and prevent injuries,” says Jimmy Lawler, athletic director at Flowery Branch High School. “Our main goal is to keep our athletes healthy, so they can continue to pursue their dreams of playing college sports. We don't want to see a talented player get injured and miss out on the opportunity to play the sport they love at the next level.”

To support the GIVES program, Emory SPARC makes use of hundreds of Meta Quest VR headsets, allowing many students to simultaneously benefit from the immersive training experience.

"The parents are excited for their kids to be part of this program because they recognize the value and reputation of Emory,” Lawler added. “They know this program can make a real difference for their young athletes.”

The rollout of the football VR programming is beginning in Hall County, home of IBM Performance Field, the Atlanta Falcons practice facility, with additional schools in Georgia to follow.
