Event starts {{ data.showing_start_time }}, “evolution world tour” with special guest three days grace.

Two-time Grammy® nominees Disturbed have announced the “Evolution World Tour,” an extensive international arena tour that stops at Little Caesars Arena on Tuesday, March 5 at 7:30 p.m., and will see the multi-platinum-selling rock band headlining venues across the U.S. and Canada with Three Days Grace supporting.

Disturbed (vocalist David Draiman, guitarist Dan Donegan, drummer Mike Wengren and bassist John Moyer) is touring in support of much-buzzed-about new album  Evolution  and lead single “Are You Ready,” which hit No. 1 on  Billboard’s  Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks Chart and has maintained that position for 4 consecutive weeks. The song, which is the band’s 12th No. 1 single and the fastest chart-climber of their career, has over 5 million Spotify streams and a companion  video  with more than 5 million YouTube views.

Evolution has been early drawing rave reviews from fans and critics alike, with Billboard declaring it , “their most diverse album ever and one of their best, on par with their 2002 hit album Believe .” Classic Rock wrote, “the title says it all…the band have embraced their own instincts, and as a result their credibility has soared on arguably their most convincing album since 2000’s The Sickness. ” The Chicago Sun-Times said, “ Evolution takes some of the biggest leaps of Disturbed’s career, with the unpredictability in David Draiman’s vocals, Mike Wengren’s drumming patterns, Dan Donegan’s dimensional guitar work and John Moyer’s low-down bass lines fully embodying the album’s title.” Music Week proclaimed, “Disturbed are ready to go stratospheric on their new album Evolution ,” Metal Hammer wrote, “without a doubt the most diverse record in Disturbed’s catalogue,” and Power Play gave it a 10-star review, gushing, “Disturbed have evolved into a superbly mature rock act, who, with this album, fully transcend from pure metal into pure greatness. This is a career-defining release. Nothing less.”

The “Evolution World Tour” will see the band playing an exhilarating mix of classic hits like “Down With The Sickness,” Inside The Fire” and “The Sound Of Silence” along with new tracks such as “Are You Ready” and the recently released “ A Reason To Fight .”

The tour announcement follows last week’s intimate hometown show at Chicago’s Vic Theatre (a special performance that airs today on SiriusXM’s Octane and Turbo Channels) and this past weekend’s set at the Austin City Limits Music Festival on a bill that featured Metallica, Lil Wayne, Justice and more.

On October 23 and 24, Disturbed will partner with the USO to perform for the Airmen at Creech and Nellis Air Force Bases in Indian Springs and Las Vegas, respectively.

In addition to the performances, the band will take part in USO morale engagements to visit Airmen where they work and learn more about the important missions at each base.

Disturbed recorded Evolution  in Vegas with Kevin Churko, who produced their previous release, 2015’s Immortalized . That album became the band’s fifth consecutive #1 debut on the  Billboard  Top 200, earned a platinum certification, and yielded the triple-platinum crossover smash “The Sound of Silence.” The latter earned a Grammy® nod for “Best Rock Performance.” Additionally, the band took home “Best Rock Artist” at the iHeartRadioMusic Awards and received acclaim from  The Wall Street Journal ,  New York Times ,  USA Today , and more.

About Disturbed :

Simply put, Disturbed are one of the most successful rock bands in modern history. The multiplatinum-selling quartet accomplished the rare feat of achieving five consecutive number one debuts on the Billboard Top 200. That accolade historically elevated them to rarified air alongside Metallica, the only other hard rock group to do so in the history of the chart.  Immortalized (2015) received a platinum certification and spawned the triple-platinum crossover smash “The Sound of Silence,” which garnered a nomination at the 2017 Grammy® Awards in the category of “Best Rock Performance.” Since their formation in 1996, the band has sold 16 million albums globally and scored twelve No. 1 singles at Active Rock Radio. Their quadruple-platinum 2000 debut,  The Sickness , formally announced their arrival as hard rock leaders, with that status solidified by subsequent Grammy® Award nominations as well as gold-, platinum- and double platinum-certified records, as well as countless sold-out shows around the globe.  Named “Best Rock Artist” during the 2017 iHeartRadioMusic Awards, Disturbed continue to boldly forge ahead with the release of their aptly titled seventh offering,  Evolution .

The Grammy-nominees are expected to play popular cuts like “The Sound Of Silence,” “Down With The Sickness” and “Inside The Fire," mixed with new tracks off the new album. Listen "A Reason To Fight" below.

The 2019 Evolution tour kicks off January 9th in San Diego, California and wraps up May 14th in Manchester, U.K. The opening act during the North American run will be none other than hardcore heroes Three Days Grace.

BECOME A TOUR HERO

Like all great sports we want players to aspire to be like their heroes but for the most part tennis struggles to bring the excitement of one of the worlds truly global sports into a child’s life. So as a key part of the EKT program we provide the Evolution World Tour.

Through six events players can follow the tour from Melbourne to Rome, Paris to London and New York to Beijing. We provide the tools, formats and resources to create an exciting series of events across the year and through the network provide opportunities to really get kids connected.

In addition to the World Tour, Court Warrior skills will help you to prepare your players properly for competition helping them to understand where to focus their efforts and how to deal with challenging situations.

GET IT RIGHT!

We believe that Competition is the tipping point for a players development – Love it and they will become a player for life but have the wrong competitive experience and you may lose them all together. So World Tour events have been developed to ensure that both the on and off court environment is in keeping with the needs of a child. By starting in the club, we create a reason to take more lessons, get more involved and aspire to really be a tennis player! Without it, we are likely to lose players in favor of other sports.

Parents also play a vital role in sending the right messages about competition so we have not left anything to chance. As well as the parents guide there are tools to help programs to work with parents in order to keep them up to date and on board.

MAKE IT HAPPEN

The Evolution World Tour comes with a complete Tool Kit of resources to run exciting events along with passports, awards, stickers, posters and a complete guide to setting up, promoting and running events. What’s more because it a calendar of connected events we will be there to keep you on track and support you all the way!

Rock band Oasis is reuniting after Noel and Liam Gallagher ended their 15-year hostility over the phone. Ever since the news came out, fans have been gushing over the details and anticipating further details about the comeback. Music industry expert Professor Jonathan Shalit OBE, chairman of talent agency InterTalent, told The Sun the reunion could easily rake in more than £400million. The reunion led to conversations over the history and prominent members of the band. The article delves into an influential drummer that was part of the band tracing the Evolution of Alan White, From Oasis Drummer to a Quiet Life.

Alan White was a central figure in Oasis’s band history and success. Alan Victor White, known as Alan White or “Whitey,” is an English drummer born on May 26, 1972. One of his early major performances was at the Glastonbury Festival in June 1995. Alan’s drumming talents were first noticed by Noel Gallagher and he was recommended to Noel by musician Paul Weller.

In regards to his entry into Oasis Band, it happened in April 1995, when Alan replaced original Oasis drummer Tony McCarroll . He made his debut with the band right away, performing on BBC’s Top of the Pops the day after joining.

Alan played a role in crafting Oasis’s sound during their peak years. He drummed on some of the band’s most famous albums, including (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?, Be Here Now, Standing on the Shoulder of Giants, and Heathen Chemistry. The The Evolution of Alan White: From Oasis Drummer to a Quiet Life is a

He is best known for being the drummer of the British rock band Oasis from 1995 to 2004. Alan played a central role in the band’s most successful years, being part of four of their studio albums, a live album, and a B-side compilation. He is regarded as the longest-serving drummer in the band’s history.

Before joining Oasis, Alan was already part of various music initiatives. He auditioned for a band called Whirlpool, which had future Oasis member Gem Archer, and later played drums for the London-based band Starclub and Dr. Robert, the lead vocalist of The Blow Monkeys. Alan also contributed to Idha’s debut solo album Melody Inn, which connected him to future Oasis member Andy Bell.

In early 2004, Alan left Oasis under somewhat puzzling circumstances, and he was replaced by Zak Starkey.

As of August 2024, Alan White is focusing on his personal life and staying out of public attention. After leaving Oasis in 2004, Alan did not pursue a high-profile music career, opting instead for a quieter life.

The band teased a major announcemen t on social media, suggesting a comeback. Speculations suggest that the band has secured Wembley Stadium and is considering prominent festival appearances, including Glastonbury, for 2025. Now, it’s official. A 2024 tour is coming.

Going to skip this one. I'll get the Marvel vs Capcom collection and call it a day. I've never been good at theses anyways.

Oh. No thank you.

I will buy just for CvS2. Will probably check out the other stuff, but it'll be nice to have an official CvS2 port.

Evolution world tour: mendel’s garden, czech republic.

At an abbey in the Czech town of Brno, a friar studied peas and laid the groundwork for modern genetics

For seven centuries, the skyline of Brno—the second-largest city in the Czech Republic—has been dominated by Spilberk Castle. Built on the summit of the highest hill in the city, it was one of Europe’s most notorious prisons, and a conspicuous warning to those who would oppose the rule of the Hapsburg dynasty.

Yet, for many, the most impressive site in Brno is a four- acre patch of land near the base of the hill. This is where Gregor Mendel, a friar at the Augustinian Abbey of St. Thomas, spent eight growing seasons (1856-63) cultivating and breeding as many as 10,000 pea plants ( Pisum sativum ), and meticulously counting some 40,000 blossoms and 300,000 peas. His experiments laid the foundations for modern genetics. And unbeknown to Mendel at the time, his discovery of how physical traits are passed down from one generation to the next revealed a crucial biological mechanism underlying Darwin’s theory of evolution through natural selection.

“Mendel is a giant in the history of genetics,” says David Fankhauser, a professor of biology and chemistry at the University of Cincinnati Clermont College, who made a “pilgrimage” to the abbey in 2006. “I wanted to feel what it was like to be him in his garden and look at his digs, as it were.”

Mendel never explicitly described his motivation for his breeding experiments. Some biographers speculate that he was investigating a popular theory that hybridization created new species. Even before Darwin published On the Origin of Species , naturalists were increasingly skeptical about the prevailing idea that every form of life remained unchanged. The naturalists’ own observations suggested otherwise, and many postulated that new species emerged when inherited characteristics rearranged themselves into different combinations.

Other scientists prior to Mendel had conducted plant-breeding experiments, but the results were largely inconclusive. Mendel succeeded, in part, because he was the right man in the right place. The Abbey of St. Thomas adhered to the Augustinian dictum per scientiam ad sapientiam (from knowledge to wisdom). The abbot, Cyrill Napp, sought to establish his monastery as a leading center for scientific research and was so supportive of Mendel’s work that he had a greenhouse built to expand the monk’s outdoor laboratory.

For his part, Mendel had practical experience as a gardener. Growing up on his family’s modest farmstead, in what is today the Czech Republic, he had tended fruit trees. Years later, his university studies included physics and mathematics—disciplines that imparted proper scientific rigor. “No one has concentrated on the number of different forms that appear among the offspring of hybrids,” Mendel later commented on his predecessors’ research. “No one has arranged these forms into their separate generations. No one has counted them.”

“I especially admire that he used very simple research techniques that anybody could have duplicated,” says Fankhauser. “His obsessive recording of biological data and then his application of simple mathematical analysis—nothing more complex than algebra—were the keys to his success.”

Part of Mendel’s genius also lay in his decision to study the inheritance patterns of specific plant traits (such as round or wrinkled seeds) separately from one another, whereas others had tended to look at such traits collectively. His research yielded two significant principles. The first law of inheritance (the law of segregation) states that traits are determined by a pair of “factors” (known today as alleles, or paired genes)—one of which is dominant, the other recessive—and that each offspring receives a random allele from each parent. The second law (the law of independent assortment) states that allele pairs for each trait occur independently of one another.

Mendel published two papers describing his research; however the importance of his findings was not recognized in his lifetime. While some of his contemporaries saw his work as an interesting investigation into plant hybridization, they failed to appreciate the larger implication—in effect, they missed the forest for the peas. Also, efforts by naturalists to duplicate Mendel’s findings using other species often failed. Today we know the reason: Most traits are determined by several gene pairs acting in tandem. Relatively few traits, such as the shape of a pea seed, are determined by just one pair of alleles. And we know that some genes are passed down in groups.

Mendel died at the abbey on January 6, 1884, at the age of 61. It wasn’t until the early 20th century that scientists rediscovered Mendel’s work and recognized its significance, including the implications for evolutionary biology. In the 19th century, skeptics of Darwin had argued that physical characteristics do not remain constant from one generation to the next. But Mendel’s laws of inheritance demonstrated that a trait could breed true for multiple generations, eventually becoming common in a population if it enabled survival.

While Mendel posthumously garnered acclaim, his garden did not fare as well. Under communist rule in the 1950s—when classic genetics was deemed scientia non grata —officials shuttered the Abbey of St. Thomas and dismantled the remains of Mendel’s greenhouse. The precise location of his pea beds was lost. But, by 1965, the political climate had changed to the point that Mendel was honored with a symposium celebrating the 100-year anniversary of the friar’s initial lectures on his research. The greenhouse foundations were excavated and scholars pinpointed the likely site of the garden, which is just through a gate in the convent walls.

For visitors who wish to see the garden for themselves, Brno is only a two-hour drive from Vienna or Prague, and trains from Budapest to Berlin regularly stop there. Cobbled streets in the town center lead up a hill to the abbey.

“The architecture is absolutely striking,” says Fankhauser, who confesses to feeling quite moved when he walked the path around the foundations of the friar’s greenhouse. “The garden is mostly a ghost of its previous features, but one can almost imagine Mendel working there,” he says. A bed of peas sometimes grows on the patch of land, depending on the season.

A small museum adjacent to the garden houses a set of 19th-century grafting and pruning tools, Mendel’s brass microscope and some notes that he kept, just like any gardener, on weather patterns and conditions.

At the far end of the garden, a statue of Mendel is almost hidden by overgrown trees. One hand rests on a pedestal laden with pea vines; the other is open as if gesturing to say he understood that recognition would eventually come his way. “I knew,” he wrote to a colleague in 1867, “that the results I obtained were not easily compatible with our contemporary scientific knowledge.”
