The Lava Show

The event will occur in a little dark room in which the center stands furnace. Suddenly, a beam of orange light brightens the room as molten lava comes from a hole in the ice. Together with the sight of the bubbling and hissing lava and the crazy shapes that it makes before starting to cool down, you’ll also get to feel the intense heat of the lava. This is the best way to encounter this natural phenomenon and feel its power. In addition, an experienced guide will tell you all about this process and how they produce the molten lava. The Icelandic Lava Show is an unforgettable experience that combines education and first-hand experience.

About the founders of the show

The Icelandic Lava Show, the only place that provides people with such an experience, was founded by Júlíus and Ragnhildur. The husband and wife duo always knew that they wanted to create a company together. In 2010, the couple witnessed the volcanic eruption at Fimmvörðuháls. Júlíus and Ragnhildur were fascinated by this experience, seeing the battle of fire and ice in front of their eyes. Knowing how incredible and mesmerizing this event was, enchanted by that strong heat, deep sounds, and strong smells, they wanted to share this experience with more people. This is how the idea of creating such a place came to life. Knowing how dangerous volcanic eruptions are in real life, the two found a safe way for people to witness this natural wonder.

The Lava Falls Adventure Tour

The Lava Falls Adventure Tour takes you off the beaten path and into the depths of The Lava Tunnel to explore the source of the cave, the magnificent Lava Falls. The Adventure tour requires good fitness and balance. It takes on average 3-4 hours, relying on an experienced guide and head torches to navigate this wonder.

Evening Lava Tunnel Tour

The standard tour takes approximately 1 hour and this evening version is ideal way to take advantage of the long summer days or to combine with an evening activity such as Northern light hunt (in winter) or dinner along the south coast.
