Travel Emergency Medical Insurance 10

Coverage is provided for eligible persons under age 65 for up to 25 consecutive days, and for eligible persons age 65 and older for up to 3 consecutive days.

As a Scotiabank Gold American Express cardmember (cardmember includes the primary cardmember and any supplemental cardmember), you, your spouse and your dependent children are each eligible for up to $1 million in emergency medical coverage if sudden and unexpected illness or accidental injury should occur while travelling outside your province or territory of residence in Canada.

Coverage includes eligible expenses for hospital care, nursing care, prescription drugs, licensed ambulances and physicians' and surgeons' fees, as well as other eligible medical services and supplies.

The date of departure is counted as the first day.

This benefit is subject to an exclusion for pre-existing medical conditions.

If you are under age 65 and are travelling for more than 25 days or if you are age 65 and older and travelling for more than 3 days, you may choose to purchase additional days from the insurer prior to your departure date by calling 1-877-222-7342. Protect your travel investment with trip cancellation and trip interruption insurance at no extra cost when you charge at least 75% of your trip costs to your Card.

You, your spouse and your dependent children are eligible for up to $1,500 per person for travel expenses (maximum $10,000 per trip) when you charge at least 75% of such trip expenses to your Scotiabank Gold American Express Card and are forced to cancel or interrupt your trip for medical or non-medical causes. Coverage provides reimbursement of non-refundable eligible trip costs and additional charges for ticketing changes. 

Flight Delay Insurance 10

Charge at least 75% of the full ticket cost to your Scotiabank Gold American Express® Card and you’ll be eligible for reimbursement of necessary expenses, such as hotel accommodations, meals, and other emergency items.

You may be reimbursed for eligible necessary and reasonable living expenses incurred during the period of a delayed flight or missed connection which lasts four hours or more to a limit of $500 per insured person on the same trip.

Delayed and Lost Baggage Insurance 10

Charge the full cost of your airplane, train, bus, or cruise ship tickets to your Card. If your checked luggage is delayed or lost, you’re covered.

When you purchase common carrier tickets with your Scotiabank Gold American Express® Card, you are eligible for coverage against the loss or the delay of your checked luggage. The lost luggage benefit is limited to the lesser of the value of the covered luggage or the actual replacement cost of the lost or stolen covered luggage, to a combined maximum of $1,000.

The delayed luggage benefit is limited to $1,000 for all insured persons on the same trip for the cost of replacing eligible essential items if your checked luggage is not delivered within four (4) hours from your time of arrival at your final destination.

Travel Accident Insurance 10

Charge at least 75% of your ticket cost to your Card and you’re insured against accidental loss of life or dismemberment.

You, your spouse and eligible dependent children will be automatically insured against accidental loss of life, or dismemberment – up to a maximum of $500,000 (to a maximum of $1,000,000 per occurrence). Coverage is in place while occupying a common carrier for which you have charged at least 75% of the ticket cost to your Scotiabank Gold American Express® Card, and which is licensed to carry passengers such as airplanes, cruise ships, trains or buses.

Rental Car Collision Loss/Damage Insurance 10

Charge the full cost of your eligible rental car to your Card and you’re automatically insured if your rental is damaged or stolen.

You are automatically covered by Collision Loss/Damage Insurance when you rent a vehicle in your name, decline the agency's collision damage waiver or loss damage waiver (or similar provision) and use your Scotiabank Gold American Express® Card to pay for the entire cost of the rental. If your rental car is damaged or stolen you are covered for the amount that you are liable to the Rental Agency up to the actual cash value of the vehicle. Note that the rental period cannot exceed 48 consecutive days and vehicles costing over $65,000 are not covered.

Hotel/Motel Burglary Insurance 10

Use your Card to pay for your stay at any hotel or motel in Canada or the U.S.

When you check into any hotel or motel in Canada or the U.S., and charge your stay to your Scotiabank Gold American Express® Card, you and your spouse and dependent children travelling with you will be eligible for coverage against theft of your covered personal property if your room is broken into. Should your claim exceed the amount reimbursable by the hotel, and/or any applicable insurance protection, your coverage picks up the balance, up to a maximum of $1,000.

Mobile Device Insurance 10

You may have Mobile Device Insurance for new cell phones, smartphones, or tablets purchased on or after October 1, 2022, when you charge the full cost of your new mobile device to your Card, or charge all of your wireless bill payments for such device to your Card when you fund such purchase through a plan.

You may be covered for up to $1,000 in the event your cell phone, smartphone, or tablet is lost, stolen, accidentally damaged, or experiences mechanical failure.

Purchase Security & Extended Warranty Protection 10

Most items purchased with your Card are insured against theft, loss or damage for 90 days from the purchase date and the manufacturer’s warranty is doubled for up to one year.

Most items purchased anywhere in the world are automatically insured against theft, loss or damage as long as the full cost of the item is charged to your Scotiabank Gold American Express® Card.

Coverage extends for the first 90 days from the date of purchase, is limited to the lesser of the repair cost, replacement cost or original purchase price, and is in excess of any other insurance coverage.

Offer Description and Conditions:  The 45,000 Bonus Scene+ Points and First Year Annual Fee Waiver Offer (the “Offer”) applies only to new Scotiabank Gold American Express credit card accounts (“Accounts”) opened by October 31, 2024 and is subject to the conditions below.  We will waive the annual fee for the primary card issued before October 31, 2024 on the Account for the first year only.   All other terms and conditions of the Program Terms continue to apply during the Offer period. Offer may be changed, cancelled or extended at any time without notice and cannot be combined with any other offers.

45,000 Bonus Scene+ Point Offer Description and Conditions: To qualify  for 25,000 bonus Scene+ points (the “25,000 Point Bonus”), you must open a new Account by October 31, 2024 and have at least $1,000 in eligible purchases posted to your new Account in the first 3 months of the Account open date. To qualify  for an additional 20,000 bonus Scene+ points (the “20,000 Point Bonus”), you must have at least $7,500 in eligible purchases posted to your new Account in the first year (12 months) of Account open date. Eligible purchases include purchases (less any refunds, returns or other similar credits) but do not include payments, cash advances (including balance transfers or cash-like transactions), interest, fees or other charges.  

The applicable point Bonus will be credited approximately 2-3 business days after the qualifying amount in eligible purchases (i.e., $1,000 or $7,500) has been posted to the Account (within the first 3 months for the 25,000 Point Bonus or within the first 12 months for the 20,000 Point Bonus) provided the Account is open and in good standing. For Joint Accounts with a Primary Borrower and Co-borrower, the applicable point Bonus will be credited to the Scene+ account linked to the Account of the borrower that completed the last transaction to meet the qualifying amount of eligible purchases (i.e., $1,000 or $7,500).  If a supplementary cardholder completes the last qualifying transaction, the applicable point Bonus will be credited to the Primary Borrower’s Scene+ account. Points can be transferred between Primary and Co-Borrower or Supplementary Cardholder’s Scene+ accounts by contacting Scene+.  The Account is considered in good standing if it is not past due or over limit and the Cardholder(s) is not in breach of the Revolving Credit Agreement that applies to the Account.

First Year Annual Fee Waiver Offer Description and Conditions: We will waive the annual fee for the primary card issued on the Account before October 31, 2024 on the Account for the first year only.

Eligibility and Exclusions : Individuals who are currently or were previously primary or secondary cardholders of a Scotiabank personal credit card in the past 2 years, including those that switch from an existing Scotiabank personal credit card, as well as employees of Scotiabank, are not eligible for the Offer. Subject to the above exclusions, Scotiabank small business credit cardholders are also eligible for the Offer.

Rates and Fees:   The current annual fee is $120 for the primary card and $29 for each additional card  (including those issued to co-borrowers and supplementary cardholders). The current preferred annual interest rates for the Account are: 20.99% on purchases and 22.99% on cash advances (including balance transfers and cash-like transactions). All rates, fees, features and benefits are  outlined in the Application Disclosure Statement and are subject to change.

You are awarded six (6) Scene+ Points for every eligible $1.00 CAD purchase made at Sobeys, IGA, Safeway, Foodland, FreshCo, Voilà by Sobeys, Voilà by IGA, Voilà by Safeway, Chalo! You are awarded five (5) Scene+ Points for every eligible $1.00 CAD purchase on all other grocery (not listed above), dining, and entertainment charged and posted to the Scotiabank Gold American Express Account. You are awarded three (3) Scene+ Points for every eligible $1.00 CAD purchase in gas, public transit and select streaming services purchases charged and posted to the Scotiabank Gold American Express Account (the earn rates for each of the above categories and merchants are referred to as the “Accelerated Earn Rates”). Merchant classifications – American Express network Purchases must be made at merchants classified through the American Express network with a Merchant Category Code (“MCC”) that identifies them in the American Express network in the “grocery”, “dining”, “entertainment”, “gas”, “streaming service” or “transit” category. Purchases at merchants where these categories are not their primary business do not qualify. Some merchants may (i) provide other goods or services; or (ii) have separate merchants located on their premises that may not be classified with an MCC under the Accelerated Earn Rate categories and such purchases will not earn the Accelerated Earn Rate as applicable. The Accelerated Earn Rates for the Scotiabank Gold American Express Card applies to the first $50,000 in purchases charged to the Scotiabank Gold American Express Account annually at merchants qualifying for the Accelerated Earn Rate, calculated annually from January 1st to December 31st each year. The new AMEX Global Business Travel (GBT) Travel Portal V2.0 will have all the same functionalities as the existing portal. Your username (TIN) and your password will remain the same.

What to expect during the launch of the new interface

  • Portal will be unavailable during transition Please note the AMEX GBT Travel Portal V2.0 will be unavailable from Saturday, February 19 , 2022 at 5:00 pm to Sunday, February 20 at 5:00 pm EST . Any urgent travel needs during this period can be directed to Amex GBT via their call center: 1-866-857-3578 (toll free in Canada and the U.S.) or 1-613-822-3873 (collect call from anywhere else in the world).
  • Easier access to training materials Once the new interface is launched, you will no longer need to log into the Learning Management System (LMS) to view training materials. Instead, they will be available in the "Training" tab under the heading ''Help Guide".
  • No changes to the EMT Please note that the change applies only to the Online Booking Tool, and there are no changes to the existing Expense Management Tool (EMT) .
