Updated:

Months after wrapping up his international tour, Jackson Browne has revealed an additional run of U.S. tour dates for summer 2023.

Videos by American Songwriter

The tour will kick off on June 3 at the Palace Theatre in Columbus, Ohio, and cross the country with stops in Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri, Nebraska, Wisconsin, and more, before wrapping up on Aug. 2 in Clearwater, Florida. The tour will also include a performance at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee on June 18.

Browne released his 15th album Downhill from Everywhere in 2021, which received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Americana Album.

On March 3, Browne lost his longtime guitarist David Lindley, who died at 78 following a series of illnesses, including pneumonia, kidney issues, and influenza. Lindley worked with Browne on his 1973 album For Everyman through his tenth release,  Love Is Strange: En Vivo Con Tino in 2010.

“David is a very large part of me – who I became, and who I remain,” said Browne in a statement. “No one ever played like him.”

Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, Browne’s career spans more than 50 years with four top-10 albums, including earlier releases  Running on Empty in 1977 and  Hold Out from 1980.

Now 74, Browne also remains involved in his environmental advocacy, which dates back to the late ’70s when he protested against nuclear power plants and helped found the Musicians United for Safe Energy (MUSE) for clean energy production in 1979, along with Graham Nash, Bonnie Raitt, and John Hall.

Throughout the years, he has received numerous awards for his philanthropic work, including his most recent Gandhi Peace Award from Promoting Enduring Peace in 2018.

Browne is currently on tour in Japan and will continue with an additional run of dates in Australia on April 8 in Byron Bay before the summer tour.

Fremantle Dockers star Luke Jackson sparks dating rumours with West Coast Fever player Kelsey Browne

Fremantle Dockers player Luke Jackson has sparked romance rumours with a West Coast Fever star nine years his senior.

The 22-year-old AFL star was seen with 32-year-old netballer Kelsey Browne at the Fever’s annual Stacey Marinkovich awards night.

The pair were photographed next to each other at the event.

Jackson also recently posted a six-photo carousel to Instagram, with one of the images showing a brunette woman in front of a fire.

One person — who is followed by Jackson — commented “soft launch”, a term used to describe when someone hints at a relationship on social media before making an official announcement.

The pair have also posted social media content in similar settings, further fuelling speculation the two are dating.

In May, a photo was posted to Jackson’s Instagram showing the young gun cooking food on a barbeque near a pool.

Two months later, Browne posted a TikTok in what appears to be the same pool and outdoor area.

The sports duo have also posted pictures of the same bath outside a tiny cabin in Busselton.

The relationship revelation comes as West Coast Fever announced that the midcourter would step into a new role at the club.

“Browne will continue with Fever in a club ambassador role as well as being a training partner, which will allow her to explore career opportunities outside of netball,” the club said.

Head coach Dan Ryan said Browne had “found a home in Perth” and had plenty “to accomplish beyond the netball court”.

Takeaways from Fed Chair Powell’s speech at Jackson Hole

WASHINGTON (AP) — Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell all but proclaimed victory in the fight against inflation and signaled that interest rate cuts are coming in a much-anticipated speech Friday in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Under Powell, the Fed raised its benchmark rate to the highest level in 23 years to subdue inflation that two years ago was running at the hottest pace in more than four decades. Inflation has come down steadily, and investors now expect the Fed to start cutting rates at its next meeting in September — an expectation that essentially got Powell’s endorsement Friday.

Declaring Victory

“My confidence has grown that inflation is on a sustainable path back to 2%,” Powell said in his keynote speech at the Fed’s annual economic conference in Jackson Hole.

He noted that inflation, according to the Fed’s preferred gauge, had fallen to 2.5% last from a peak of 7.1% two years ago. Measured by the better known consumer price index, inflation has dropped from a peak 9.1% in mid-2022 to 2.9% last month. Both are edging closer to the Fed’s 2% target.

Powell sounded confident that the Fed would achieve a so-called soft landing — containing inflation without causing a recession. “There is good reason to think that the economy will get back to 2% inflation while maintaining a strong labor market,” he said.

Higher rates contributed to progress against inflation, as did the easing of supply chain bottlenecks and worker shortages that caused shipping delays and higher prices as the economy bounded back with unexpected strength from COVID-19 lockdowns.

Signaling Rate Cuts

Powell suggested Friday that rate cuts are all but inevitable. “The direction of travel is clear, and the timing and pace of rate cuts will depend on incoming data, the evolving outlook, and the balance of risks,” he said.

Last year, the Fed had predicted that it would trim rates three times this year. But the cuts kept getting pushed back as the progress against inflation faltered early in 2024. Since then, the steady drop in inflation has resumed, giving the Fed more confidence that victory was in sight.

Abandoning the Good Ship “Transitory”

Powell acknowledged that he and his Fed colleagues misjudged the inflationary threat when it emerged in early 2021. At the time, they expected the flareup of higher prices to be short-lived — the temporary consequence of pandemic-related supply chain disruptions. The pressure, they thought, would fade “fairly quickly without the need for a monetary policy response — in short, that the inflation would be transitory.”

They weren’t alone in their optimism. “The good ship Transitory was a crowded one,” Powell said, ”with most mainstream analysts and advanced-economy central bankers on board.”

But the word “transitory″ came back to haunt the Fed as inflation proved more intractable than expected. It spread from goods that were subject to supply chain backlogs into services, where it is harder to dislodge without raising rates and risking severe economic pain in the form of layoffs and higher unemployment. The Fed proceeded to raise rates 11 times in 2022 and 2023.

A Little Humility

Powell admitted that policymakers and economists have struggled to understand and respond to an economy that has been unpredictable since COVID-19 hit in early 2020. First, the pandemic shut down commerce and companies collectively slashed millions of jobs. Then the economy roared back with unexpected vigor, setting off inflationary pressures that been dormant since the early 1980s. When the Fed belated responded with aggressive rate hikes, economists predicted the hiring borrowing costs would cause a painful recession. But it didn’t.

“The limits of our knowledge — so clearly evident during the pandemic — demand humility and a questioning spirit focused on learnings lessons form the past and applying them flexibly to our current challenges,” Powell said.

I was 9 yrs old the first time i saw Jackson Browne.Im 63 now.Since then, Ive seen him 200 more times.Ive seen him now into his 70's. To say I appreciate him for the gift he truly is,would be an understatement. He is what makes people try their best to be better humanbeings, better stewards of our planet and what it means to help others ,as best u can ,while still staying true to yourself. He makes the world a better place. He is gracious and kind ,its so strickingly clear how vital, he still is. While just a man , he is a testament to all things fine and good.I have never tired of him or what he has to say ,nor will i ever, i suppose. Im grateful and thankful and humbled to have been so blessed to experience him thru my entire life. On Sept 10th 2021 ,i saw him up close and personal at the OXBOW RIVER STAGE. I paid a small fortune for the opportunity.I would do it all over again. The man was playing like a young kid and having some serious fun. Everything about the night was magical ,even the moon was in attendance. The weather so mild , it kissed your skin. His new album"Downhill from Everywhere ",is a must buy. Its just incredible. Every song on it is a masterpiece in its own right. And the more you listen, the more you hear and it transports you straight into now and how critical everything hes saying is. Hes generously collabrating with younger artists and its this openness, thats enchanting and poignant and ringing true ,resonating an urgency in his music. He has a natural gift,a timing that is uncanny. These are just some of the reasons he continually has held my attention,my entire life. BRAVO, BRAVO ,BRAVO. VAYA CON DIOS.

We've seen Jackson at each of his last three performances at Sunset Center and, quite frankly, this was far and away the best show! We've seen him on several other occasions earlier in his career and last nights show stacks up against any of them. The entire band looked like they were having fun and enjoying themselves. Jackson was communicative and funny - although at one point he made the comment that he was trying to talk less during the show so they could play more music. And they did!!!!! The show was 3 hours and 15 minutes with one 15 minute break.

Jackson's voice sounded much stronger than the last time we saw him. It probably helped that he had a group of players and vocalists behind him to help him along but, even when it was just him, he sounded really, really great!

We got to hear him play some different songs; once we hadn't heard in a while or had never heard performed before. That was fun and I think Jackson enjoyed the change as well.

Maybe not for the reason we might default to but our favorites of the night were his new song with Leslie Mendelson called Human Touch and I am a Patriot. Leslie's voice is sooooo very great and she sounds perfect with Jackson on this song. The song itself is amazing!

I AM A PATRIOT was one we had not heard him perform previously. He did it as the first encore and the energy in the performance and in the room was electric. The passion of the song was easily evident!

We also really enjoyed his performance of Walls and Doors. First, the song is so well done and moving. More importantly, Jackson seemed to truly love singing it and did an amazing job.

I am biased I know but the man created the songbook of my life and likely many others. It is just so very great to see him still enjoying himself and sounding so very great!

Saw him last night at Beacon with Luscious... Was very impressed with the warm up band as I had not heard of them.... will investigate them more

Browne sounded great and did a nice job on stage presence... the song selection left a little to be desired.... I expect new songs and some covers but would have preferred more of his classics.... Perhaps it was being in NY but he added some "political" songs if not commentary at the expense of some classics that were apparently played in the set list from other venues... Missed hearing, late for the sky, for a dancer and others for the political leaning ones....

All in all was good but disappointed in song selection but was to be expected with Browne's political leanings.. wish they would keep that to themselves and perform

Jenna Ortega continues to showcase notable footwear looks on the promotional circuit for newest film “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” which will hit theaters in early September. This go-round, she paid tribute to Winona Ryder’s character from the first film, Lydia Deetz, and donned a similar ensemble than the school uniform the teenager wore in the original 1988 film Beetlejuice.

Ortega opted for a pair of the Brock Heel Brogued Criss Cross pumps from Thom Browne as the finisher to her preppy look. Made with navy and white pebble grain leather, the shoes include a series of buckled straps along the mid-foot, brogue detailing dispersed throughout, a leather-covered heel with a rubber cap, a leather outsole for grip and traction and a signature striped grosgrain loop tab at heel.

Completing the set is a block heel which, per the brand, clocks in at a little over four inches in height. To compliment her standout shoes, Ortega elected to wear a long plaid skirt from the brand that fell right above her calf. She paired her skirt with a dark navy blazer and a white blouse underneath. She topped it all off with a purse that was also an ode to the original film, wearing a handbag with the words “Handbag for the Recently Deceased,” which is inspired by the book “Handbook for the Recently Deceased” that is featured in the original.

Ortega has chosen to put her footwear at the forefront over these past couple of weeks, and has already made plenty of strong choices. For an outing in New York City over the weekend, she was spotted in a pair of black loafers that featured lush black leather uppers, almond-shaped toes and a slip-on construction. Once again going for a preppy look, the shoes were finished with short stacked block heels, which she teamed alongside a white dress and flared skirt.

This followed an appearance for the “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” photocall held in New York late last week , where she donned a pair of black Dolce & Gabbana Keira platform sandals that included a strap-heavy construction, a glossy black upper that transitioned into open toes, gold adjustable buckles and a thick platform sole estimated to be in-between 3-to-4 inches in height.

Directed by Tim Burton and scheduled to release in theaters on Sept. 6, “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” is about three generations of the Deetz family returning home to Winter River after an unexpected family tragedy. While there, Lydia’s (Winona Ryder) life experiences some turbulence when her rebellious teenage daughter discovers a mysterious portal to the afterlife.
