RESORTS WORLD ONE CRUISE: REVIEW AND GUIDE
by thepinay solobackpacker | Jul 26, 2023 | Cruise Guide , Hong Kong , TAIWAN | 0 comments
Detailed cruise guide blog and review of Resorts World One cruise package and cruise ship.
Over a decade of traveling has taught me to appreciate various kinds of traveling styles. And one of my personal favorites is going on a cruise. Recently, I experienced Resorts World One 3 day 2 night cruise from Hong Kong to Taiwan. And the question I often get is, is cruising worth it?
The thing about cruising is, you can enjoy your vacation even before reaching your destination. And it can be enjoyed by tourists of all ages, whether you are traveling with your family, friends, or partner. It is like staying on a floating resort that strives to satisfy your every wish and whim. You have so much to experience onboard like shopping, poolside activities, thrilling waterslides, top-notch musical performances, Broadway-style shows, poolside activities, spa, exciting games, lively arcades, adventure activities, seminars, workshops, and internationally inspired dining options, among others. It is non-stop fun from morning to night.
Cruising also gives you the opportunity to explore underrated tourist attractions that you may never have heard of. You can join immersive shore excursions once you hop off the ship at selected ports.
And of course, while sailing, you can enjoy the ocean views from dusk to dawn. If you consider the cruise package that you are getting – the stateroom , dining, entertainment, pool, and other activities are already included in the price, you will find that cruising is reasonably priced.

PRE-TRIP PREPARATION
Travel documents.
- Passport and Passport Bio Page Photocopy – Prepare your passport and photocopy of the bio page. Make sure that your passport has 6 months validity from the end of your cruise date, with at least 2 blank pages for your entry and exit stamp.
- Visa – Ensure that you have the appropriate visa. But for Philippine Passport Holders we have visa-free entry to Hong Kong and Taiwan. And both countries are now open to tourists regardless of your vaccination status.
- E-Travel Document – If you’re flying from the Philippines, you are required to register and fill out the form at etravel.gov.ph You need to do this before you fly overseas travel and before you fly back to the Philippines.
- Vaccination Certificate – I brought my LGU vaccination certificates, but no one asked for it. Bring your vaccination certificate, vax cert, or the yellow vaccination passport in case the Immigration in the Philippines or staff at the airline check-in counter asks for it. However, Resort World Cruises One is open to all passengers regardless of their vaccination status. But I would highly encourage that you get vaccinated since you will mingle with tons of other tourists from all over onboard.
- Copy of Flights, Cruise Booking, and Cruise Itinerary – You must secure a copy of these for Immigration purposes. You can print it or save a digital copy in case the Immigration Officials ask for it.
Important: If you are traveling with a child but you are not the legal guardian, or you are traveling with a child that has a different family name from the parents, or a minor illegitimate child is traveling with the biological father only, please refer to required travel clearance for Filipino Minors HERE .
PACKING TIPS
what to bring.
Pack like you would for a resort vacation. Dress comfortably , but also consider the season/climate of your destination. Bring at least one formal or semi-formal outfit for formal dining and watching the shows.
- Bring swimwear if you plan on swimming in the pool.
- Bring running shoes if you plan to use the gym. Bring trekking shoes if you are joining the shore excursion that involves hiking.
- Bring sunblock, sunglasses, and hats to protect yourself from the sun.
- Bring cash (Hong Kong and Taiwan Dollars). While they accept Philippine Peso onboard, they must convert it first to Hong Kong Dollars before converting to Taiwan Dollars. It is best to bring HKD and Taiwan Dollar to avoid more conversion charges. I did not see any ATM on board, so make sure you stack up cash (HKD or Taiwan Dollars) before boarding the ship. You can withdraw HKD at Hong Kong Airport ATMs.
- Bring Water Flask. This will come in handy if you want to refill and bring juice from The Lido to your room or during your shore excursion.
WHAT NOT TO BRING
There are prohibited items on board, and they are strict about it. They will seize the item and keep it in the safe. However, you can still claim and collect it after the cruise.
- Extension wires – You are not supposed to bring this on board. You are only allowed to use the sockets in your stateroom/cabin.
- Vape/E-cigarettes – Only regular cigarettes are allowed onboard. Use the designated smoking areas.
- Drone – While my drone was able to go through security without being confiscated. I know that flying it while onboard is prohibited, whether cruising or even if the ship is docked. Drone flying is allowed in Hong Kong, but Taiwan currently has a NO DRONE policy.
- Fruits and other Raw Food – You’re not allowed to transport fruits, vegetables, or raw food to another country as they may carry foreign insects that may destroy the crops of the place you are visiting. This will be confiscated at the airport or port of entry.
CHECK-IN PROCEDURE
Resorts World One Cruise ship homeport is Kai Tak Cruise Terminal in Hong Kong. This is where you will board the ship. So, yes, you must fly to Hong Kong from the Philippines or wherever country you are from. Then, you can proceed to Kai Tak Cruise Terminal along Victoria Harbor. You can go there by taxi, Grab, or bus.
It is advisable to arrive there an hour or so before your scheduled trip, as you must line up and go through Immigration and Security. Ensure you have all the travel documents with you for the check-in procedure.
Upon arriving at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, proceed to the check-in counters. The check-in procedure is like checking-in at the airport. You have the option to check-in your bags for free. Your bags will be sent directly to your staterooms. Make sure to bring your travel essentials with you as the luggage may arrive a few hours later.
Kai Tak Cruise Terminal
IMMIGRATION AND SECURITY
After cruise check-in, proceed to security and Hong Kong Immigration for your exit stamp. Present your passport and your cruise ticket and itinerary if asked. Remember, no photo or video taking in this area in case you are documenting your cruise trip. Stop recording, keep your camera.
STATEROOM CARD
After clearing Security and Immigration, you need to go through the Cruise Boarding Pass . You need to provide your passport and copy of the cruise ticket to claim your stateroom card . This card contains your name, your stateroom number and deck number, emergency assembly station, embarkation date, and vessel name.
The stateroom card is essential to enjoy your cruise. This serves as your access card to your stateroom and your credit card inside the cruise ship. Everything you buy or consume that is not included in the cruise package will be charged to your stateroom card. And you can settle the charges at the end of your cruise trip (before disembarking the ship) with cash or credit card. So, never misplace your stateroom card, it is your lifeline inside the cruise ship. If in case you lose it, proceed to reception on Deck 7 and have it cancelled and replaced right away. As anyone who has access to it can charge your card.
BOARDING THE CRUISE SHIP
After claiming your stateroom card, you need to pass through the x-ray procedure before boarding the ship. Then, once cleared, you can board the ship. There are 2 lines for boarding: the Palace Guest Line and the line for the rest of the passengers. Tap your stateroom card to the electronic device. Then the staff will get your passport, this is a standard procedure. Make sure you have the photocopy of your passport bio page with it. Resorts World One cruise ship will keep your passport during the sailing period, you can get it back after the cruise, before disembarkation. But every time you get off the ship for your Onshore Cruise, you will be handed the photocopy of your passport biopage. Check to make sure it has an exit or entry stamp on it. You will show this to the staff and Immigration Officers upon leaving the ship for the day tour.
Proceed to your stateroom and use the access card to open it. Check if your luggage is already outside your door. If not, wait for a few more minutes before it gets delivered.
WI-FI/INTERNET
But what about Wi-Fi? How do you stay online while on a cruise? Do not fret as Resorts World Cruises boast of satellite Wi-Fi connection where you can connect from 1-4 devices. You can choose between standard and premium rates. And standard rate starts at HKD 118 (₱826). We were able to use this during our 3 days 2 nights cruise with Resorts World Cruise One, and I must say the connection was reliable.
RESORTS WORLD ONE CRUISE SHIP
Measuring 268 meters in length and 32 meters wide with 13 decks. This massive, fine-looking cruise ship was manufactured by Meyer Weft at Papenburg, Germany. Resorts World Cruises One was designed to accommodate the growing Asian cruise market. This ship can billet up to 1,856 passengers in its 928 staterooms.
Resorts World One
STATEROOMS/CABIN
There are various kinds of staterooms (cabins) inside the cruise ship, which are located at Deck 4 to 11.
- Balcony Staterooms
- Oceanview Staterooms
- Interior Staterooms
- Palace Villa
- Palace Penthouse
- Palace Deluxe Suite
- Palace Suite
OCEANVIEW STATEROOMS
We stayed at the Oceanview Staterooms during our cruise. It is a decently sized room, around 13 square meters with 2 comfortable single beds. The cream wall adorned with minimalist wallpaper and the carpeted floor induced a chic feel. There is a double USB port at the bedside, which is immensely helpful for charging our phones and camera batteries.
Although it does not have a balcony, the sea view with morning light can put you in a good mood when you wake up each morning. There is a small sofa perfect for curling up for a good read or while browsing your phone. There is also a flat panel TV attached to the wall with satellite programs.
Resorts World One Ocean Stateroom
Our stateroom is provided with bottled mineral water daily. There is also a kettle and complimentary coffee and tea.
Storage was carefully planned inside the Oceanview staterooms. Under the bed, there is enough room to store our luggage. There is a multi-shelved wardrobe to hang our clothes and drawers too to keep our essentials. The wardrobe is conveniently located just outside the bathroom. It is equipped with a small safe to keep our valuables.
The bathroom may be compact, but it was also carefully planned to give you space to move around. There is a walk-in shower supplied with shampoo and body wash on a dispenser. Toiletries such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, and cotton buds are provided too.
THE PALACE AT RESORTS WORLD ONE
The Palace is like a luxury ship within the ship. It is an all-suite concept where palace guests have 24-hour butler concierge service. It is meant for those who have more money to spend during the cruise.
Palace Guest enjoy priority check-in, private lounge, exclusive access to The Palace, priority access to Production Shows, selected exclusive Kids programs for children between 2-12 years old, set meal entitlements at designated specialty dining restaurants, Happy Hour with complimentary drinks, standard Wi-Fi package throughout the cruise, and more.
Resorts World Cruises has 17 restaurants and bars. And three of them are inclusive restaurants, meaning, it’s part of your cruise package, so you can dine there for free. The rest are exclusive restaurants, not free, you will be charged once you dine there.

There is also a gym on Deck 12 if you want to burn the calories from eating all day. They even have a spa if you want to rejuvenate.
Your kids will be able to enjoy here as well as they the Little Dreamer’s Club at Deck 13 to keep them entertained. It’s free for 2 hours.
Adults can have fun and play games at Resorts World One cruise ship too! The Zone at Deck 12 is where you can play console games and board games, whereas the ESC Experience Lab is where you will get to play arcade games.

It is open from 8:00 AM until 10:00 PM. You should see its pastel colors at night, so pleasing to the eye. Also, do not miss Caesar’s Slide , a fun waterslide beside the Parthenon Pool.
RESORTS WORLD ONE SHORE EXCURSION
While you may be tempted to just relax and enjoy Resort World’s One facilities and activities, take advantage of the shore excursions being offered here. Shore excursions are pre-arranged tours by cruise ships. Since most of the ports are quite far from the usual touristy places of each destination, it can be hard to explore on your own, and often these packages are quite unique from the usual tour packages.
What I like about booking shore excursions directly with the cruise ship company is, it’s hassle-free, since they will take care of everything – the transfer between the ship and land, the tour guides, and the meals. They will also ensure that you will return on time before the ship departs, so, in case of unforeseen circumstances, the cruise ship will wait for you. Unlike if you do DIY Travel or book your tour with a travel agency outside of the cruise ship, you will be responsible if you end up being late.
During our 3 days and 2 nights cruise with Resorts World One, we availed ourselves of 2 Shore Excursions. Take note that this is not part of your cruise package, you will have to book and pay for this separately. You can approach the Reception/Concierge for assistance.
IMPORTANT : Before you leave resorts World One cruise ship for the shore excursion, claim a stamped photocopy of your passport from the staff. They will usually set up a table for this near the midship elevator.
KAOSHIUNG TOUR: SCENIC CIJIN ISLAND
A perfect day trip from Kaohsiung is Cijin Island (also spelled as Chijin or Qijin). It is part of the original core of Kaohsiung established by Hsu Ah-hua, a fisherman who sought shelter here from the storm. Cijin Island is oozing with tourist spots, and we got to visit some of them during the Shore Excursion.
I’ll write a more detailed post about the Resorts World One Shore Excursion but let me give you a list of the places we visited on Cijin Island.
- Cijin Island
- Kaoshiung Lighthouse
- Chihou Fort
- Cijin Beach
- Qi Jin Old Street
Nearby Tourist Attractions in Kaoshiung:
Before and after hopping on a Snoopy ferry to Cijin Islands, here are some places in mainland Kaohsiung that we visited:
Kaohsiung, Taiwan
- Banana Riverside Group Restaurant
- Warehouse No.2
- Echo Across the Harbor
- Great Harbor Bridge
- Liuhe Night Market
How much is the Resorts World One Shore Excursion? There are a couple of optional shore excursions tours for Kaoshiung, and the price varies depending on the tour. For the Cijin Island Tour, here is the tour price:

- Kaohsiung Shopping and Gourmet Tour
- The Best of Tainan

DISEMBARKATION
At the end of your cruise trip, you need to disembark the ship. And here is how to do it:
SETTLE YOUR BILLS. Head to Reception, present your stateroom card/access card, and settle your bill using cash or credit card.
CLAIM YOUR PASSPORT. The night before your scheduled departure, claim your passport. If you have already settled your bill, they should hand it to you. If not, you need to pay first the charges you incurred in your stateroom card. The staff will leave instructions on your bed. Just follow it. During our tour, we were instructed to claim it at the table they set up near the elevator at midship from 7:00 PM to midnight the night before our disembarkation. But we forgot about it! Because we were busy packing our clothes. If that happens, you can claim it the next day at reception on Deck 7, no worries. Just claim it early in the morning, to avoid long lines and further delays.
LEAVE YOUR LUGGAGE AT YOUR DOOR. Pack your things the night before your departure. You can leave your luggage outside your stateroom door and your cabin attendant will pick it up for check-in. Make sure to hand carry your valuables, medicines, and gadgets. Do not forget, DO NOT pack the clothes, undergarments, shoes, or sandals that you plan to wear the next day.
GO TO THE MEET UP PLACE FOR DISEMBARKATION. Take note of your meet up time and venue for disembarkation. Be there at least 30 minutes before disembarkation to avoid delays. Usually, it is at the Grand Piazza on Deck 7.
PREPARE YOUR STATEROOM CABIN CARD AND PASSPORT. Make sure you have your passport and stateroom cabin card in handy. You need this when exiting the ship and when you pass through Immigration.
EXIT THE SHIP. Wait for the announcement if it is okay to disembark the ship already. Then, exit the ship.
CLAIM YOUR LUGGAGE . You can claim your luggage at the Baggage Area outside the ship before you go through Immigration and Security.
GO THROUGH IMMIGRATION AND SECURITY. Prepare your travel documents and passport. Go through Immigration and Security. To enter Hong Kong again where you need to fly back to your next destination or country of origin, you need to fill out the entry form.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQS)
WHY CRUISE?
We have this preconceived notion that only the rich can go on a cruise. Since you need to break the bank to be able to afford a cruise. But times are changing, and these days, cruise trips are more reasonably priced than ever. If you take the time to calculate what is included in the cruise package versus a regular travel overseas, you will find that the price difference isn’t that huge.
For example:
I will write a more detailed post about the sample budget when taking a Resorts World One cruise. But it is possible not to break the bank when cruising. If you dine in at inclusive restaurants only and drink only the beverages provided at inclusive restaurants.
Also, Resorts World One sails to visa-free countries for Filipinos and other ASEAN Passport holders, so less hassle. You do not have to worry about visa processing. They also sail throughout the year, check their cruise schedule at their official website.
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE RESORTS WORLD ONE TICKET PRICE
When you book a cruise ticket for Resorts World One, the cruise package includes typically includes your stateroom/ cabin, port fees, shows and entertainment onboard, activities, drinks, and meals (inclusive restaurants), use of facilities such as pool, gym, etc. If you want to avoid extra charges for the meals, dine in at inclusive restaurants only (The Lido and Lido Grill, Pavilion, and Dream Dining Room), one time per meal. Refer to the details above under the Inclusive Restaurants sections.
HOW MUCH IS THE GRATUITY FEE? IS TIPPING REQUIRED?
A required gratuity fee of HKD 450 (₱3,148) will be charged separately. You can settle this a day before you disembark the ship. If you want to tip a staff, you can still make additional tips at your discretion. If you decide to do so, a $10-$15 tip per person per day is reasonable.
IS CRUISING SAFE?
Yes. Cruise ships are designed and operated in strict compliance with international law. All the staff undergo rigorous training before they can board the ship.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I GET SICK ORS THERE IS A MEDICAL EMERGENCY?
There are licensed doctors, nurses, and medical practitioners onboard in case you need medical attention. Usually, the ships turn back or go to the nearest port if there is a medical emergency so they can transfer the passenger to the nearest hospital.
DO I NEED TO GET OFF THE SHIP AND JOIN THE SHORE EXCURSION?
No. Shore excursions are optional. You have the option to join or not to join the day tour. It’s up to you.
TRAVEL TIPS AND REMINDERS
Muster Station
Always check if your clock is set to local time. Remember, there could be a time difference between your country of origin and the place you are visiting.
In most countries, bringing fruits, vegetables, flowers, rocks, and sand are prohibited.
Familiarize yourself with the cruise ship. Take note of the fire exit, stairways, evacuation location, life vest location and lifeboat locations. Attend the safety/muster drill before the ship sails so you can learn about the proper procedures in case of emergency. It is important to learn the exact location of your muster station.
Wash your hands . Always wash your hands before eating or after doing activities to help prevent spread of disease caused by germs, bacteria, and virus.
Practice the LNT Principle. Leave no trace. Leave what you find, do not collect rocks and sand from your trip. Dispose your trash properly. Do not throw anything in the ocean. Plane ahead and prepare. Be considerate of other visitors aboard the ship.
Always bring your stateroom card. Make sure you always carry your stateroom card with you. Do not lose it.

World Dream: Balcony Stateroom Review
World Dream's Balcony Staterooms are comfortable and functional, if basic. Here's what to expect during your voyage.
After boarding the World Dream and completing the brief muster drill, I headed to my stateroom to drop off my bag.
If you’ve sailed on Quantum of the Seas before, the first thing you’ll notice is how different the vibe on World Dream is. The PA system plays traditional Chinese music, elevator announcements were in Mandarin and English, and signage throughout the ship was a mixture of (thankfully simplified) Chinese and English. It’s quite a change from the more international-focused Royal Caribbean sailings, that’s for sure.
Room Selection & Upgrades
Staterooms on World Dream are divided into the following categories:
My KrisFlyer Experiences booking was for a Balcony stateroom, and as I mentioned previously, I suspect that Interior or Oceanview staterooms aren’t even being sold right now. Cruise ship capacity is capped at 50% after all, so it only makes sense to sell the more expensive cabins.
Should you wish to upgrade your room, there are two ways of doing so. The first is to wait for Dream Cruises to send you an upgrade bidding email prior to sailing. This leverages the Plusgrade platform, the same one that Royal Caribbean (and numerous airlines) uses.
Enter your bid, provide your credit card details, and wait. You’ll be informed whether your bid is successful at least 72 hours before sailing. Bidding closes at the T-7 mark, and all bids can be modified or cancelled anytime before they’re accepted.
For a three-night itinerary, the minimum bid for an upgrade to a Palace Suite was S$340 per person, based on an occupancy of two people (this is quoted for the entire duration of your voyage, not per night). Keep in mind that you’ll also need to pay an extra S$5 per person per night in gratuities, should you upgrade from a regular stateroom to a suite.
The second option is to wait until you’re onboard, then go to the front desk and ask about paid upgrades. I was quoted S$621 to upgrade to a Palace Suite, which would increase to S$984 if I had a companion.
In terms of stateroom location, Dream Cruises doesn’t let you choose this online (unlike Royal Caribbean). You’ll need to email the reservations department to request a particular cabin, subject to availability.
I’ve already given some tips on choosing staterooms , which apply regardless of which cruise liner you’re on. However, for World Dream specifically I’d highly advise that you avoid connecting rooms , as these have thinner walls and you can easily hear the people next door (I know, I was in one of them briefly).
Non-connecting rooms, as the photo below shows, have a much wider partition between them which does wonders for noise isolation.
To identify connecting rooms, look for the grey arrow symbol circled in red below in the deck plan. For example, 12030 and 12032 are connecting rooms, but 12036 and 12038 are not.
World Dream: Balcony Stateroom
I didn’t bother to request a specific stateroom beforehand, so I lucked out by getting 12038, a non-connecting one. The main disadvantage was the location, way towards the front of the ship. I guess it gave me the opportunity to exercise more (I had to walk the entire length of the ship every time I went to the MDR), but it also meant more turbulence from the ship’s movement. It never got unbearable, but it was definitely noticeable.
Balcony staterooms measure in at 215 sq. ft. While that sounds like cramped quarters, it’s actually not so bad if there’s just one or two of you. Remember, in an ideal situation, you’ll be spending most of your time outside the stateroom anyway, and this is mostly a place to bathe and sleep.
The World Dream is a fairly new vessel (launched in November 2017), so the interiors and furnishings are pretty up to date. The room felt clean, with a lingering smell of disinfectant.
I’d read some bad reviews of the beds on Dream Cruises, but having experienced it firsthand, I didn’t see what all the fuss was about. It could be because the bed is on the firmer side, which some people dislike, but that suited me just fine. The blankets were sufficiently thick for me to blast the air-conditioning at my preferred temperature.
On the bed was a welcome letter for KrisFlyer members who redeemed this cruise via KrisFlyer Experiences. This offered 20% off all specialty restaurants and VR games, plus discounts on spa and fitness packages. I’ll talk more about these in the dining and activities section, suffice to say you’re not missing out on anything even if you booked via other channels.
Both bedside tables had 2x USB-A ports and a Singapore Type G socket.
On one side of the bed was the wardrobe, which had extra bedding, a pair of bathrobes, and a safe.
Near the window was a brown sofa. Although it looks like the kind that folds out into a bed, it’s just a regular sofa.
The stateroom has a small work desk cum dressing table, although the chair has no back and is uncomfortable to sit on for prolonged periods.
If you have serious work to do (why), head to the lobby instead where you’ll lots of co-working style tables, some of which have power and USB ports.
The desk in the stateroom had another Type G Singapore outlet, plus a Type I outlet- haven’t seen one of those in a very long time! These are used mostly in Australia, New Zealand, China and Argentina.
Wi-Fi is available on World Dream, with packages starting from S$9 per night.
I subscribed to the regular package and found the speeds to be very fast, much faster than Royal Caribbean for sure (how they can claim to have the fastest Wi-Fi at sea is beyond me). I may have just gotten lucky with where the ship happened to be and the prevailing weather conditions when I did the test, however.
My advice would be to go for the regular speed package first and see if it’s sufficient for your needs. If it’s not, you can always head to the front desk to pay the difference and get upgraded to the faster network.
Below the desk was a hairdryer, affixed to the wall (you can’t unplug it and move it elsewhere).
Two complimentary bottles of mineral water were sitting on the table. These are replenished once a day, and additional bottles can be bought for S$2. There’s no need to pay though, as iced water is free at all restaurants, and the bathroom’s tapwater is potable.
Instant coffee and tea were also available, plus a kettle. It’s Nescafe 3 in 1, so bring your own Starbucks Via if you’re fussy about this kind of thing.
The room’s mini-fridge was empty, allowing you to store your own items inside. FYI, Dream Cruises prohibits passengers from bringing their own alcohol onboard (unlike Royal Caribbean, which allows two bottles of wine per stateroom). You can, however, bring non-alcoholic beverages of your own.
If you’re feeling peckish, you can order from a limited room service menu. Mains start from S$15 nett, and I much prefer Royal Caribbean’s model where you pay a flat US$7.95 + 18% delivery charge and order as much as you want.
Next to the table was the stateroom’s TV. It does not support streaming, but you can bring your own HDMI cable and connect from the back.
One nice thing about Dream Cruises is that the in-room movies are free of charge (Royal Caribbean charges a whopping US$11.99 each, more than the cost of a Disney+ subscription!). It’s not a huge selection, but there were some fairly recent titles like Dumbo and Tenet (which, let’s face it, no one understands).
I was also pleased that the TV had live sports, which let me enjoy the Australian Open while onboard.
The bathroom is snug, but equipped with everything you’d need.
Those who really want a bit more space could spring for a Balcony Deluxe Room, which features a slightly larger bathroom with dual sinks and a rectangular shower area.
Just like Quantum of the Seas, World Dream’s toilets don’t have bidet hoses- weird, because I thought it’d be more environmentally-friendly to wash with water than introduce more toilet paper into the system. You’ll need to close the toilet lid completely to access the flush button.
The shower cubicle isn’t as tight a squeeze as I feared, and if you’re of average proportions, you won’t find it an issue.
Water pressure was OK but not great (as expected, a cruise ship’s water supply is deliberately throttled for environmental reasons). Here’s a tip: the knob for the shower has an “eco” setting that prevents you from turning it on full blast. Simply press the small button to bypass it, and you’ll be able to increase the water pressure even more.
Bathroom amenities are from Crystal Life, Dream Cruises’ in-house spa brand. They’re not fancy by any means, but they get the job done.
Other amenities already in the room include toothbrushes and a hand soap dispenser. If you require other items like shavers or combs, they’re available from housekeeping.
One final point to note about the bathroom: there’s a step between the bathroom and the bedroom. Be extra careful if you go at night, because it’s easy to trip in the dark.
The balcony area is extremely cramped, with barely enough space for two chairs and a tiny patio table. I didn’t spend any time out here, and I don’t think most people will either. Smoking is permitted on balconies, so you may get second hand smoke from your neighbours if you’re unlucky. On the plus side, the area had been cleaned well, with no trace of ash or lingering smoke smell.
All things considered, the Balcony Staterooms on World Dream are comfortable enough for short voyages, providing a private space to rest and recharge in between all the activities onboard.
If you’re looking for a review of the Palace Suites on World Dream, I managed to find a post-COVID one here .

Thanks Aaron for the link! Here’s a more detailed review on the Palace Suite itself: https://railtravelstation.com/world-dream-cruise-to-nowhere-palace-suite/
thanks! enjoyed reading your report, some very useful details in there.
The PA is in English, Cantonese and Mandarin. The description on connection room is not accurate, most of connection rooms are on deck 12 and 13 only.
Eh, can I check right, the non-alcoholic beverages, do we check them in or hand carry? Any limits to the amount of soft drink we can bring aboard?
The security check is like airport style? ie xray checks and stuff?
world dream does not allow you to bring booze on board. that is Royal caribbean.
Hi Aaron, not booze. Referring to normal drinks…
oops my bad. you will have to hand carry. they don’t state a limit, i suppose as long as you don’t bring a whole mama shop they won’t say anything.
yes there is x-ray, metal detector
Very useful. Thanks!
Thank you for your great review, Aaron. Are you going to try the Palace?
i considered booking the krisflyer cruise but the 21 day no travel before boarding policy made me change my mind.
Oh you are flying out of Singapore?

Woman who sold possessions for world-cruise stuck in Belfast 'banned' from ship after WhatsApp comments
Due to delays, and the ship remaining grounded in Belfast, Phenix voiced concerns about the ship not docking in Miami as she had expected, among other issues, in a WhatsApp group chat with fellow passengers.

- Updated 09:57, 19 SEP 2024
A 68-year-old woman from Florida who sold all her belongings for the trip of a lifetime on the Villa Vie Odyssey's three-year maiden voyage, found herself reportedly banned from the cruise after WhatsApp comments caused an uproar.
The would-be world traveller had offloaded possessions, closed businesses and was living from her suitcase in anticipation of setting sail. However, due to delays, and the ship remaining grounded in Belfast , Phenix voiced concerns about the ship not docking in Miami as she had expected, among other issues, in a WhatsApp group chat with fellow passengers.
Ms Phenix conveyed worries that renovation efforts might extend into the journey and discussed having to stay in a substitute cabin because staff members occupied the one registered under her name. But when her messages reached the eyes of Villa Vie Residences' owners, her contract was abruptly terminated.

Kathy Villalba, the chief operating officer, delivered the blow, citing numerous grievances lodged by residents troubled by Phenix's ongoing discontent and negative attitude that harmed community spirit, as reported by The Telegraph:
"We have received over a dozen formal complaints from residents regarding your continuous complaints and negativity," remarked Villalba. "This behaviour has significantly impacted the morale and well-being of other passengers. Given the overwhelming feedback, we must cancel your contract permanently to uphold the well-being and satisfaction of our community."
Phenix expressed her disbelief at the situation and emphasised she had not engaged in any personal attacks, nor had she posted anything on social media. She explained: "The frustration among the residents grew after every delay," adding that as one of the more outspoken members asking pivotal questions, she received private gratitude from fellow residents for her willingness to speak out on behalf of the group, reports the Irish Mirror .
Phenix was looking forward to the three-year cruise after the Life at Sea residential ship scheme filed for bankruptcy and owed her $30,000 (£22,740). She forked out an initial deposit for the voyage and planned to later decide to spend between $120,000 (£90,000) to $350,000 (£265,368) for a cabin or join or upgrade to the Endless Horizon program that allowed passengers to travel onboard for the rest of their lives starting at $300,000 (£227,505).
The divorcee travelled to Southampton in May ahead of what was expected to be a globe-trotting voyage. "We had been notified of one short delay, but nothing seemed critical and, of course, travel plans and hotel reservations had been made months in advance," she recounted.
However, further setbacks occurred when the cruise operator announced a departure from Belfast on May 30 and additional issues emerged during a dry dock inspection at the Harland and Wolff shipyard, famed for constructing the Titanic. Having remained inactive for years due to the pandemic, the ship needed to secure re-certification.
CEO Mike Petterson revealed to CNN that the problem began when the company requesting approval certificates asked for documents on previous documents which were not provided at the time. He further stated that other work had not been completed and that certificate providers would not let the Villa Vie sail without necessary repairs and changes.
Phenix said she had been left emotionally devastated by what had happened and found it hard to discuss. But Petterson claimed she had broken multiple terms and conditions as well as having signed a non-disclosure agreement. Other cruise residents are now set to set sail after the Odyssey passed sea trials. Residents will be compensated with credit worth $200 (£151) each say, according to Petterson.
A Villa Vie Residences CEO Petterson told The Mirror : "There are so many inaccurate reports about Jenny Phenix when in fact she herself cancelled all while being on a trip in the Canary Islands fully paid for by VVR.
"She didn't just complain in the chats but created a very hostile and toxic environment amongst residents. After receiving dozens of complaints and multiple cancellations directly related to the mayhem she created, we decided to suspend her contract entirely. This was subsequently voted on by the residents who overwhelmingly decided to uphold her suspension."

Dad-of-two suddenly dies on dream cruise holiday with family after ‘unexpected fall’ during stop-off on paradise island

A DAD-OF-TWO has suddenly died while on a dream cruise holiday with his family.
Edward Langley was visiting Vanuatu, near Fiji , when he “unexpectedly fell on the footpath”, his devastated family said.
A fundraiser has since been created for the tragic Aussie dad, and claims the fall could have been caused by a heart attack or stroke.
But the official cause of death is still unknown, news.com.au reports.
Set up by a friend of Mr Langley’s wife, Heidi, the GoFundMe reads: “Our hearts goes out to Heidi … and the rest of the family.
“Our deepest and most sincere condolences to each of you.

Sharing it on social media, the fundraiser's organiser has been urging people to “keep Heidi and her kids in your thoughts and prayers”.
It has raised more than £3,000 for Edward's heartbroken family.
The GoFundMe organiser added: “There has been a few requests on how friends and family can support and help her, so this is just one way to donate and help in a way that we all know is hard and expensive.
