Symphony X is an American progressive metal band from Middletown, New Jersey. Founded in 1994, the band consists of guitarist Michael Romeo, keyboardist Michael Pinnella, drummer Jason Rullo, lead vocalist Russell Allen and bassist Michael LePond.

They achieved some commercial success with the 2007 album Paradise Lost and the 2011 album Iconoclast, which reached number 76 on the Billboard 200. The albums The Divine Wings of Tragedy and V: The New Mythology Suite were partially recorded in The Dungeon, Romeo’s home studio. The Odyssey, Paradise Lost, Iconoclast and Underworld were fully recorded there and produced by Romeo himself.

Symphony X announce European tour dates

Prog metallers will play UK dates in June...

New Jersey prog metallers Symphony X have announced European tour dates for May and June, including a return to the Uk for the first time in three years.

"We are really excited about the upcoming tour," the band told Prog. "Can't wait to get back on the road and look forward to seeing everyone again very soon!"

The run will see the five piece, who released the concept album Underworld in 2015, hit eleven countries in one month – with the tour kicking off on May 7th in Lyon, France, culminating in Gelsenkirchen, Germany at the Rock Hard Festival.

Guitarist Michael Romeo released his debut solo album, War Of The Worlds, last year .

SYMPHONY X Announce June UK Tour Dates!

New Jersey’s progressive metal masters SYMPHONY X are hitting the UK, as part of a wider European tour which will take place throughout May and the beginning of June this year. The run will see the five-piece hit eleven countries in one month, with the tour kicking off on May 7 th in Lyon, France, culminating in Gelsenkirchen, Germany at the Rock Hard Festival.

I have seen Symphony X three times so far in my lifetime (once in Pittsburgh in 2005 and twice in Cleveland-once at Peabody's and another venue that I cannot recall) and have never been disappointed. Their shows are pretty much full throttle except for a heavy ballad (which are bad-ass in their own right) or two. If you like progressive-metal and have the opportunity to catch their act, by all means do so. Like myself, you will not be disappointed. I guess that I will be making another road trip to Cleveland...have metal will travel. I cannot wait!

Absolutely killer show. Much smaller venue than they deserve to fill. Russell Allen has so much energy and still has a 10/10 voice.

Plus they played The Odyssey in full \m/

Without question on of the most talented and underrated bands in the world from Allen's voice to the band crushing the crowd with a unbelievable display of musicianship. When mainstream keeps pumping out garbage Symphony X restores my faith!!!!! Great every time I see them \m/

Taylor Swift returns to UK for first live shows since foiled terror plot

Fans of superstar Taylor Swift have been coming together to support those who had tickets for the cancelled sell-out shows in Austria - with many offering up their own for the Wembley gigs in London.

Taylor Swift returns to Wembley this evening for her first live performance since shows in Austria were called off, after an alleged planned terrorist attack was foiled.

Swift has already played three dates at the England football stadium as part of her record-breaking Eras gigs, and is now back for five more - the last of which will mark the end of the tour's European leg.

Her first London shows were among the most memorable of the tour, with the star bringing out her American football player boyfriend Travis Kelce for a surprise appearance on stage during one.

As always, there is huge excitement among Swifties lucky enough to get tickets this time round. Those fans in the standing area will be queuing up early to potentially secure a front-row spot and no doubt swapping friendship bracelets and bonding over their shared love of the star.

But it has been a difficult few weeks.

In July, three young girls died following a stabbing at a dance class inspired by her music in Southport, Merseyside.

Following the attack, Swift said in a post on Instagram that she was "completely in shock" and "at a complete loss for how to ever convey my sympathies to these families".

Just days later, all three of Swift's shows in Vienna, due to take place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday last week, were cancelled over a suspected terrorist plot .

Swifties support each other

Fans of the superstar have been coming together to support those who had tickets for the sell-out shows in Austria - with many offering up their own.

Catherine Santamaria, 47, from Buckinghamshire, was due to attend a Vienna show with her 14-year-old daughter, Carla. After hearing about the cancellation, they decided to continue with their trip to the city to "make the best of it" and meet other fans.

"We were obviously quite sad when we arrived but we started looking online and saw Swifties were gathering in central Vienna," Ms Santamaria said. "It was just the sweetest atmosphere, everybody was exchanging friendship bracelets, singing and doing their best to get over being heartbroken."

The pair have since managed to secure tickets to Monday's concert at Wembley thanks to a fellow Swiftie.

Ms Santamaria wrote about their situation on an online fan group, and received a message from a woman in America who was offering to sell her tickets.

"She sold them to me at face value, which is just unheard of," she said. "What's lovely about the Swiftie community is just how devoted they all are and they're so generous. We wouldn't be going it if wasn't for this other Swiftie."

Cristina Jones, creator of the viral Swifties for Southport JustGiving page, told the PA news agency how she has given her Wembley ticket away for free to a fan who had been set to see the star in Vienna.

Ms Jones, 29, said: "I thought it was just nice to give it away to someone who couldn't go simply because Vienna was cancelled for the right reason," she said. "It was nice to be able to see that someone who hasn't been able to go to The Eras Tour is now able to go."

She said she set up an online giveaway process to offer her ticket to one lucky fan.

"She was really excited, until I sent the ticket I don't think she realised it was going to be real," Ms Jones said.

Security reassurances

Wembley officials have put out a reminder about security ahead of the gigs, but a spokesperson for the stadium told Sky News they are the same measures that were in place for the previous shows in June.

A spokesperson for the Met Police said there is "nothing to indicate that the matters being investigated by the Austrian authorities will have an impact on upcoming events here in London".

After Swift's last show at Wembley on Tuesday 20 August, the mammoth Eras tour then takes a break. The final shows take place in Canada, resuming in Toronto in November and finishing in Vancouver the following month.

The Eras Tour is the biggest-selling of all time, with more than $1bn (£780m) in ticket sales in 2023, according to Pollstar Boxoffice, which collects data on the live music industry. By the end of this year, that figure is expected to rise to more than $2bn.

Neighbours have confirmed the first three names heading to the UK next year for their 40th Anniversary tour.

It was revealed in April that cast of the famous Australian soap will make appearances in 6 venues across the UK – including the world-famous London Palladium, which first welcomed the show to perform as part of the Royal Variety Performance in 1988.

This follows on from a sell-out fifteen date Celebration Tour prior to commencement of filming of the new series of Neighbours on Amazon Freevee last year.

Today, the first three names were confirmed on Neighbours’ social media accounts. At 10am, relative newcomer and fan-favourite Majella Davis, who plays Lassiters Hotel investor Krista Sinclair was announced.

‘Hey Great Britain, it’s Majella here. Delighted to tell you that I will coming over to you in 2025 for the Neighbours 40th Anniversary tour’ she enthused.

‘I’m so excited. Make sure you join us for a great line-up of Ramsay Street residents past and present, so that you can get an exclusive look into what life in Erinsborough is really like.’

She concluded: ‘I can’t wait to see you all very, very soon. Bye!’

An hour later, Tim Kano, who plays winery owner Leo Tanaka, the son of show legend Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis) was unveiled.

To round-off the morning, Rebekah Elmaloglou, who plays the truly iconic Terese Willis was the third name to be added to the billing. Rebekah joined the cast in 2013 and has cemented herself as royalty in the rich history of Australia’s longest running serial.

The upcoming tour will be hosted by Sky News anchor and self professed superfan Leah Boleto, who also appeared on last year’s road trip. 

Next month, departing Ryan Moloney, who has played Toadie Rebecchi for thirty years,  will take part in his own solo tour . 

In an exclusive interview with Metro.co.uk, he told us: ‘I think it’s going to be a little bit different,’

‘I want it to be a sort of cross between television aspects and theatre at the same time and just bring to the forefront that I’m a performer and I’ve been doing it since I was eight years old on stage, doing musicals and comic theatre and performing and hosting – all that kind of jazz

‘I think it’s time to let people in and show them something a bit different, [so they can] see what Ryan’s really like.’

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and the Champion Golfer of the Year Xander Schauffele, who played together Thursday, shot matching 4-under 66s.

TPC Southwind is a par-70 track measuring 7,243 yards.

The purse at the FedEx St. Jude Championship is $20 million with $3.6 million going to the winner. The champion will also earn 2,000 FedEx Cup points.
