“A TENNIS EXPERIENCE NOT TO BE MISSED”

MIke, thank you so much. If you've ever considered going to the French Open, just do it. It's an amazing experience. We brought our whole family and had the most amazing night watching two of the greatest players of all-time battle it out. The tickets we got were unfortunately not able to be all 4 together, but we had tickets in the CAT Or in rows 1 and 4, two pairs. We'll be back again. Merci and a bientot! Judah

Every summer, the world’s greatest tennis players flock to London for The Championships, Wimbledon – one of just four Grand Slam tournaments on the planet.

However, this prestigious event isn’t just for the players, and each year tennis fans compete fiercely for the chance to grab a coveted patch on Henman Hill.

Why take an educational visit to Wimbledon

Take this unique opportunity to attend the world’s premier Grand Slam tennis championships. You and your students can be there, soaking up the atmosphere and watching the action on the outside courts or even on No.1, No.2 or No.3, if you choose to book from our allocation of tickets for these show courts.

Our two and three day tours take place throughout The Championships, so that as well as watching the action court side, you and your students can also join the crowds on ‘Henman Hill’ or ‘Murray Mound’, as it is increasingly known, and watch play on Centre Court on the huge TV screen.

You might even catch some action later in the day on Centre Court  itself if you are lucky enough to buy re-sale tickets, which are sold for charity at a reduced price as some of the Centre Court ticket holders leave during the late afternoon.

Explore more sporting venues in London

On our two and three day tours, in addition to your day at Wimbledon,  we have also arranged for you to spend time in central London, for the chance to enjoy the world-renowned sights on our included sightseeing tour.

Chelsea Football Club Stadium Tour offers a fun, informative and  interactive experience for all sports fans.

Groups can see areas usually reserved for players only, such as the dressing rooms where the players’ shirts hang on the wall. The tour also includes the chance to walk up the players’ tunnel, as well as visiting The Press Room, The Television interview Rooms and the Pitch side Managers Dugout.

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium Tour lets your group step behind the scenes on this immersive, self-guided experience. Walk in the  footsteps of your favourite players, gain exclusive access to the men's first team areas and learn about how the stadium has been designed to create one of the best matchday experiences in the world.

ATP Tour professional men’s tennis tournament coming to Sioux Falls in October

sport tennis tours

The ATP professional men’s tennis tour is coming to South Dakota for the first time in October when Huether Family Match Pointe on the Sanford Sports Complex hosts the MarketBeat Open presented by USTA Northern.

The MarketBeat Open, an ATP 75 event, will bring some of the best players in the world to Sioux Falls for a tournament that has added importance on the ATP Tour calendar. The USTA Pro Circuit is using a four-tournament swing this fall where the American with the highest ranking point total will earn the United States’ wild card into the 2025 Australian Open main draw. The MarketBeat Open will be the first of four tournaments where players can earn the Australian Open wild card.

“The added Australian Open wild card tie-in is really exciting and should draw a lot of the top American players,” Tournament Director and Match Pointe Executive Director Mark Vellek said via a press release. “This is an unprecedented event for this part of the country and is going to be amazing to showcase in Sioux Falls.”

USTA Northern, which played a role in bringing the tour to Sioux Falls, is also excited to help fill the void of professional tennis in the upper Midwest.

“We are incredibly excited to help bring this first-of-its-kind tennis tournament to Sioux Falls,” MarketBeat Founder and CEO Matt Paulson said in the release. “We think this event will elevate the visibility of Sioux Falls on the national stage and bring additional tourism revenue to the city.”

The MarketBeat Open will have a 32-player singles draw as well as a 16-team doubles draw. There will also be a 16-player singles qualifying tournament at the beginning of the week from which four players will earn main draw qualifier spots.

Day one of the MarketBeat Open will be Kids Day which will give kids 18 and under free admission.

The tournament has one wild card position into the singles main draw and one into the doubles draw which it will award in the fall. Organizers also get one wild card to give into the singles qualifying draw. The qualifying wild card will be awarded to the South Dakota Adult Open men’s open singles champion, which will be held July 19-21 in Sioux Falls.

“The qualifying wild card presented a unique opportunity to have a local tie-in,” Vellek said in the release. “The South Dakota Adult Open is a long-standing amateur tournament here and has really taken off the past few years with increased prize money so the winner of that tournament each year is certainly the caliber of player worthy of having an opportunity to compete in the qualifying.”

The player field will be determined 21 days ahead of the start of the event. Tickets for the MarketBeat Open will go on sale August 26, which is the first day of the US Open.

MarketBeat Open tournament schedule

  • October 20 – Singles Qualifying
  • October 21 – Singles Qualifying/Singles First Round
  • October 22 – Singles First Round/Doubles First Round
  • October 23 – Singles Round of 16/Doubles First Round
  • October 24 – Singles Round of 16/Doubles Quarterfinals
  • October 25 – Singles Quarterfinals/Doubles Semifinals
  • October 26 – Singles Semifinals/Doubles Championship
  • October 27 – Singles Championship

Former Georgia tennis star Ethan Quinn — an NCAA champion — adjusting to life on ATP Tour

When the University of Georgia’s Ethan Quinn won the NCAA singles title as a freshman last May, it accelerated his long-time plan to go pro. He made the leap just one month later.

As Quinn approaches the first anniversary of his NCAA title, he is having success on the court but is still adjusting to the lifestyle of a professional player.

“It gets really challenging out there,” Quinn said. “I wasn't expecting it to be that difficult.”

As the NCAA national champion, Quinn earned a wild-card entry into the 2023 US Open.

“The US Open is probably the greatest memory I’ve had,” Quinn said. “You dream about it as a 6-year-old getting to play on the big stage at the US Open. To be able to do that when you're just 19 years old was pretty amazing.”

Quinn’s friends and family, including his grandparents, made the trip from California to New York for his professional debut.

“That was a pretty amazing experience,” said Quinn, a native of Fresno, California. “Getting to have everyone who supported me growing up to be there.”

In the US Open, Quinn lost in singles and men’s doubles debuts but won a mixed-doubles match.

He is now ranked among the top 250 men in the ATP rankings, having played more than 25 tournaments.

He’s had many exhilarating moments on tour. But leaving Georgia and his teammates, roommates and close friends was an adjustment for Quinn.

“I’ve had plenty of challenges on the pro tour, trying to figure out how to have fun out there, like I did in college,” Quinn said.

Along with making new connections and building relationships, Quinn pointed out that the professional circuit is demanding and requires relentless dedication.

“On the professional tour the guys aren't going to give you it, so you have to really earn it,” Quinn said. “That just takes a lot out of you physically, and then to be able to do that five days in a row at a tournament — that's even tougher.”

Another challenge for Quinn is having to play matches against good friends, such as Tommy Paul, who’s become a mentor to Quinn.

“I didn't want to piss him off at all,” Quinn said about playing Paul in his second ATP event. “So it was a really strange experience, trying to compete against someone who's been mentoring me and helping me out and supporting me.”

Brad Stine, Quinn’s current coach, has been coaching him from the time he was 6 years old.

“Ethan definitely has a level of commitment and concentration, focus and intensity,” Stine said. “You have to deal with losing more, just because the level gets better and the players are better.”

In addition to navigating the highs and lows of professional tennis, balancing a career and personal life can be challenging.

“You know, it's your job,” Quinn said. “So it's obvious you want to have fun, but at the same time, it's like you're not, if you're not performing the way that you want to be. It gets exhausting.”

Proud to be a Bulldog, Quinn gives the Georgia program credit for preparing him.

“UGA gave me a really solid base with a professional structure,” Quinn said. “They really made sure I was doing everything I could possibly do to be the best.”

Quinn’s journey to the NCAA title was not easy. He fought off four match points to win the championship match.

“Honestly,” Quinn said. “I was just in disbelief.”

While Quinn may have been surprised by his success, his friend and former teammate Trent Bryde did not doubt Quinn’s abilities.

“He basically accomplished all that you could accomplish in college tennis and did it in one year,” Bryde said. “So it was a bit of a no-brainer for him to go pro.”

Not only were Quinn’s teammates supportive, but his coaches were as well.

“They recognized that the pro tour was calling my name, and that it was time for me to actually leave school,” Quinn said. “They weren't going to hold me back. They encouraged me.”

Quinn and his coach have set high goals for the former Bulldog.

“We hope within the next 12 months, that he'll be close to making top 100 in the world, which is really kind of like the benchmark for where you want to be as a tennis player,” Stine said.

Said Bryde: “I hope he achieves all his goals that he set out for himself. And I know he's capable. I hope he becomes one of the greatest of all time.”  Mady Mertens is a student in the Sports Media Certificate program at the University of Georgia’s Carmical Sports Media Institute .

Recently retired tennis player Camila Giorgi on the run from Italian tax authorities, per report

sport tennis tours

This week, Italian tennis player Camila Giorgi, who achieved a ranking of No. 26 in the world, abruptly retired without a statement giving a reason why.

On Saturday, La Gazzetta dello Sporto , an Italian newspaper, reported that retirement is not a coincidence.

According to the report, The Guardia di Finanza, Italy's financial police, is looking for Giorgi and investigating her nonpayment of taxes and undeclared income.

Authorities are also investigating Giorgi's family members, including her mother, father and two brothers, all of whom are alleged to have "gaps" in their tax return filings.

Giorgi, 32, has not been seen since her retirement was announced May 7. The last time she competed in a tournament was last month at the Miami Open, where she was routed 6-1, 6-1 by Iga Swiatek in the second round.

Giorgi is already under investigation for allegedly forging her COVID-19 vaccine documentation to gain entry to the 2022 Australian Open and was scheduled to appear before a judge in Italy on July 16.

According to the newspaper report, Giorgi and her family are on the run and are believed to be in the United States.

Alps Tour: Gosser Open 2024 to Steinlechner

A ustrian golfer Maximilian Steinlechner emerged victorious at the 32nd edition of the Gosser Open, one of the most anticipated and longstanding events on the Alps Tour. The tournament took place at the GC Erzherzog Johann course (par 72) in Maria Lankowitz, near Graz, Austria.

Steinlechner clinched the title with a total score of 199 (67 68 64, -17), edging out Spanish player Asier Aguirre Izcue in a playoff after both players finished tied at the end of regulation play.

Gosser Open, results

Enrico Di Nitto delivered another strong performance, securing third place with a score of 201 (67 68 66, -15).

This marks Di Nitto's third top-three finish in six events this season, following his second-place finishes in the Red Sea Little Venice Open and the previous Memorial Giorgio Bordoni by AON. Despite completing the 54 holes without a bogey and making 15 birdies (including six in the final round of 66, -6), the 31-year-old Roman fell short of the top spot.

Italian amateur Marco Florioli also impressed, finishing fourth with a score of 204 (67 68 69, -12), demonstrating strong authority on the course throughout the tournament. He was joined by French players Nicolas Muller and Paul Elissalde, Hungarian Oliver Csanyi, Spanish player Borja Martin, and Austrian Lukas Nemecz, who led after two rounds alongside Aguirre Izcue and has previously won the tournament twice (in 2017 and 2020).

Among other Italians, Andrea Romano finished 14th with a score of 206 (-10), Riccardo Bregoli placed 18th with 207 (-9), Davide Buchi finished 24th with 208 (-8), while Filippo Bergamaschi and Giovanni Manzoni tied for 31st with 210 (-6).

Gianmaria Rean Trinchero and Leonardo Rigotti finished tied for 40th with 211 (-5), and Filippo Grossi placed 44th with 212 (-4). Maximilian Steinlechner, a 24-year-old from Innsbruck and a graduate of North Carolina State University, turned professional in 2023.

Starting fourth after two rounds, he surged with a final round score of 64 (-8), the best of the day, forcing a playoff with Aguirre Izcue after securing his eighth birdie (without a bogey) on the final green. For his first title, Steinlechner received a prize of €5,800 from a total purse of €40,000.

In the order of merit, Di Nitto rose from fourth to third place, trailing behind Edoardo Raffaele Lipparelli, who maintained his lead despite missing the cut, and Frenchman Aymeric Laussot (who withdrew). Gianmaria Rean Trinchero (5th) and Mattia Comotti (6th) also made it into the top ten.

The Italian contingent has already secured three victories this season with Lipparelli (New Giza Open), Gianmaria Rean Trinchero (Tunisian Golf Open), and Comotti (Memorial Giorgio Bordoni by AON).

LONDON (AP) — Wimbledon girls finalist Nikola Bartunkova was provisionally suspended by the International Tennis Integrity Agency for doping on Thursday.

The agency said the 18-year-old Czech player tested positive for the banned heart medication trimetazidine at tournaments in Trnava, Slovakia, and Maribor, Slovenia, in February and March, respectively.

The medication, known as TMZ, also was found in high-profile positive tests given in 2021 by Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva and 23 Chinese swimmers who were preparing for the Tokyo Olympics.

Bartunkova was beaten by Clervie Ngounoue in last year’s Wimbledon girls singles final. She also reached the singles semifinals and the doubles final at the 2022 Junior French Open.

She is ranked 282nd.

Bartunkova is banned from all sanctioned tennis events pending an ITIA hearing.
